Guest Reviews
- Mohammad (4/5): - Close to Hungry Horse recreation center & Nat’l Park. Very clean. However, beds were horribly uncomfortable & noisy, and pillows were like rocks. Won’t stay there again.
- Cathy (10/5): - Nice place, about 30 miles to either East or West Glacier. The rooms are comfy, clean and remodeled but they don’t have a mini fridge or microwave. I’d go there again and would recommend.
- Irina (10/5): - Quiet
- Joshua (10/5): - Just what we needed. Friendly staff
- Kathleen L (10/5): - We stayed at the Isaac Walton inn instead and it was the best ever
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Air conditioner was very loud. Friend said futon bed was uncomfortable; support slats poked through the three inch mattress. Shower looked like it had not been cleaned well in quite some time. WiFi was terrible and didn’t work most of the time. Good food at Izaak Walton Inn but limited (none) vegetarian options. Huckleberry pie was great. Safe area. Easy parking.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The beauty of the property. The staff was usually friendly. There was no cleaning room service, so we ran out of coffee and towels and toilet paper.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - beautiful area
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Needed to go to a different location to check in. The wifi did not work. The room itself was clean and comfortable for an overnight stay.
- david (6/5): Small and loud - Small compact room /no refrigerator or microwave / 1 Mike away from check in / very loud continuously train noise and train horns going off / I do not recommend this hotel if you want a good nites sleep or if you have anything to heat up or keep cold
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Reasonable price to stay fairly close to Glacier National Park. Great view of the night sky in the middle of the wilderness. Newer motel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Small but economical rooms that suited our needs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property is located a short drive from the west entrance to GNP. Wifi is basically useless but rooms are very clean, yet on the small side. Not many options close for food. Bring food and drinks with you. Staff is located a mile away. Not a bad place, just be aware of limitations once you are there. I would, however, stay again if necessary.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room is small but functional and clean and the location is great. Service is lacking the phone as you need option is not effective if you do not follow trough. The food in the izaak walton inn is below average for the price point as is the service.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel is out of nowhere. The train horns more than five times each night and can not sleep at all.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Not a good stay ... good room terrible service, no amenities .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, quiet, comfortable
- Ajit (4/5): You get what you pay for - This was an inexpensive place to stay at, considering the prices in the area, but it still was disappointing.
1. The room was tiny without even a table!
2. We stayed for 5 nights, but they would not vacuum the room even, despite us asking for it - they put it on a maintenance list, but it never got done.
3. The Wi-Fi connection was strong, but the speed was too slow to be useable. We had to go a mile away, to the Izaac Walton Inn which manages the property, in order to get a decent Wi-Fi connection.
4. The location is conveniently close to a highway, but also close to the railway lines, so you could get disturbed by the sounds of trains going by. This is not a complaint about the property, but is good to keep in mind.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel 😄worth the price. - The small hotel is cute. I enjoy to stay there but it take about 1 hr or more to go the west Glacier national park. The train didn’t brother me at all.
- Leah (4/5): Not so great - Disappointed in that the only restaurant in the area was very pricey with not so great service. The motel room was clean but was the tiniest room I’ve ever stayed in. Was glad we only stayed one night as we couldn’t have managed more than that. No phone service which was to be expected but wi-if didn’t work either. No grocery stores, no stores if any kind in the area.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Ear plugs is a MUST - A freight train ran by the hotel, blew its whistle every 20 minutes or so ALL NIGHT LONG. Difficult to get any sleep unless you have ear plugs or you're a very deep sleeper. Horrible location due to it being so close to the railroad.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Easy check in and out procedures. The location was central to the East and West Glacier location. Great price!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The accommodations were comfortable and adequate. Good location although the train seemed to run every hour on the hour overnight and blew its whistle as it passed. Wear earplugs. Internet was sub-optimal. Internet is very important to travel today and should be upgraded to accommodate. The hotel was overwhelmed by a wedding in the Isaac Walton inn happening at the same time. My room was never cleaned during my stay and there were no towels when I checked in.
- Tina (10/5): - Check in was odd no posting to go to alternate party for check in. But otherwise good room perfect location for my activities
- Katherine (8/5): No frills, but clean! - Nice, no frills, clean place to stay for a cheap price.
- Jazz (2/5): - We were assigned to stay in the hotel where we collected our keys instead of the hotel I booked. The hotel claims to have WiFi which is partially true because it works only in the lobby with a very poor internet connection. Be prepared to disconnect yourself from the internet world if you are planning to stay here. No easy access to getting hot water, coffee or fridge. You will have to wait until they open in the morning that is 7 am to avail any of the kitchen stuff. Overall my experience is a 1.5/5. The hotel room looks cute inside but what is the point if all the other facilities are bad.
- Bharath (10/5): - The hotel shown on expedia is actually closed, but the parent hotel which manages this is still open and fantastic. Check in instructioms points to parent hotel. It has very rustic look and a restaurant with good breakfast.
- Linda (8/5): - Was so nice and close to the Isaac Walton Hotel where we loved the restaurant at every meal
- Beate (8/5): Great stay - We enjoyed our 4 day stay in Glacier NP area. Beautiful remote location. Hotel room was simple, clean and comfortable. We would come back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was in a central location and clean. There are not many stores nearby so planning ahead is a must. The 'community bathroom' was very clean and only share with one other room. This is a perfect place if you are on a budget or just passing through. The staff were a cheerful and knowledgable resource about local activities, in fact they were the best i experienced during our stay in Glacier...
- Di (6/5): - Did not realize there was no front desk.. pulled up to the halfway hotel and saw a red phone with a note saying that this was the emergency phone, and to check in you had to go a mile down the road. I had no cell service, and was traveling alone. If something would have happened, like a break in to my car or the room, I would have been screwed. No phones in the room and I had no cell service. Only phone was outside. Would not stay here again for safety reasons.
Wifi was extremely slow.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No one serviced our room until the last night we were there - and that only occurred because we called and complained. We had already asked (in person) to have our room cleaned that morning, and when we returned, it still had not been touched. After a phone call to the host inn, someone did come down and take out our trash and bring fresh towels.
- Julie (2/5): Loud drunk wedding party. Horrible morning staff - This is really for the Issac Walton inn where u check in for halfway hotel. The guy checking me in was awesome. I upgraded to stay at the historic in cause it looked really cool. However there was a loud drunk cussing wedding party outside till almost 2am. There was no phone to contact management (as said in room binder) to complain. When I checked out the two girls at the desk gave the most insincere apology I had ever heard. Then tried to tell me I owed them an additional $22. For what I don’t know. She finally did tell me they could just “take that off” the guy at check in warned me off train noise which was nice & I could handle that. But the drunk cussing till early morning I could not. I stayed in this area planning to hike the next morning but couldn’t due to lack of sleep. The lack of empathy from the morning staff was absurd. Lovely historic hotel - but need to learn how to manage their events better. Would of gladly switched back to my original room at halfway hotel if I could have. But my main issue was w the morning staff. I said I’m leaving all this in a review & she replied oh ok that’s fine. Instead of trying to fix anything. She should of at least got me a manager - if she was the manager than this hotel has major issues & I would stay away.
- Yo-yo (8/5): - Hotel was easy to spot when we arrived late into the night. It’s operated by a prestigious hotel, so it we functional and clean.
- Mary (4/5): - There was never any hot water for our showers
- KIRBY (10/5): - great staff!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Near the railroad tracks, was actually nice to hear the trains at night...not so much the people in the rooms next to us, thin walls.
- Jean (6/5): - It was so smoky from the surrounding fires that we cancelled, they were very nice and didn't charge us.
- Robert (6/5): Halfway is about half a room - On the plus side, it was clean and relatively new. The rooms are very small. It says it works for 3 adults. I guess that's true, but its a squeeze. A futon makes into a small bed, but there is BARELY enough room to unfold it and you'll feel the slats through the cushions. Check in is up the road a mile or so and there is no one on site. There were no sheets for the futon bed and no pillow cover. The TV remote didn't work with the TV. Trains go by about every hour and blow their horn. The dead bolt on our door wouldn't close either. I tried to use the courtesy phone on the front porch to ask about sheets and the TV remote, but no one answered. All in all its a place to lay your head and if your not expecting anything more - it will be ok. Three people is really tight.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Pretty small and cramped. Arrived in a brownout with no power, so no water without pump working but power back about 4 hours. Could do without the futon and noisy ac.
- Bob (8/5): - Nice room very comfortable. Very easy check in and out. Yes the trains are close but sleep with a fan.
- Robert (10/5): Glacier NP home base - Very nice place and well maintained. It is inconvienent to have to check in and out at the Isaaz Walton Inn. But the room service was good. Convienent to the SE corner of Glacier NP.
- michael (6/5): - Check in was 1.5 miles away. After getting to room can't find ice machine , so I call front desk. Where is the ice? Oh back at check in. Darn I was just there . I have to go back for ice.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - OK for brief overnight stay but a little cramped for 2 adults and 1 child
- Verified traveler (8/5): - 5-6 freight trains with horns during the night, noisy.
- Jim (4/5): - You check in at a different hotel a couple of miles away. The futon is only good for sitting, you can't sleep on it unless you are under 10 years old. I was in the room with my 26 year old son. We were told that he could sleep on the futon. The hotel gave us no sheets or blanket for the futon. That did not matter because there is no way an adult can sleep on that thing. So my son and I shared the bed. No chair, so you are forced to sit on the bed or the futon. The internet was useless except at 5am. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There were 5 of us in 3 rooms. None of us said that we would come back to this motel.
- Glenn (8/5): - Better then expected due to reviews. Smaller room would not recommend for more than two. Good staff. Poor hot water. Clean rooms nice views.
- J&d (10/5): - Nice clean place to stay
- Kri (10/5): - Nice room, nice backyard!
- Aimee (8/5): My compliments and thanks... - This hotel was small...the rooms sleep 3...with one on a futon...which was a pain to set up and not very comfortable. However...I would stay here anytime!! Nice deck...fire pits... quiet...VERY clean and updated with a lovely setting. I would suggest that the Half way be more clear with potential guests that they must check in at the Walton in Essex before going a mile or so down the road to the actual property and add some signs for property location...hot tub location...ice...sheets for the futon. I should also add the front desk staff at the Walton property were great...very busy but took care of my needs...ex. sheets for futon. There are few restaurants in the vicinity so we ate at the Walton inn...the service was a bit slow but only because they were so busy...and I know why...the food was amazing...reasonable and all fresh prepared. There was a bartender...Dawn...I think...made me a fabulous Huckleberry cocktail and went out of her way to assist us despite being extremely busy. While the Half way hotel was a bit unconventional ...it was a great find...especially for the price.
