Guest Reviews
- David Robert (2/5): - Unangenehme Umgebung
- sunshine2107 (2/5): DANGEROUS HOTEL, drugs, theft, prostitution. - This hotel should be closed down, it is dangerous and I left within 30 minutes of being there. This was booked by a travel agent who wasn't aware of how bad it is. In the doorway as you arrive there are drug users with needles.
Inside the hotel, it is not a proper hotel, some rooms are rented by the hour to prostitutes and drug users - the hotel receptionist confirmed this but said it was "not a problem" because the drug taking was "only in their room". Obviously no one wants to be anywhere near drugs, let alone under the same roof.
I went to my room, thinking it could get better, but the elevator had urine on the floor and once inside my room, I could hear shouting and screaming. The room had live exposed electrical wires and of course I did not know whether there could be needles or other leftovers.
I realised this was too dangerous to stay and so decided to leave immediately. I could not get a taxi because taxis will not come down this street. Whilst trying to get out of the hotel, a man covered in blood tried to steal my briefcase. It was very scary.
I eventually got to safety and researched the hotel further online with some shocking results. I urge others to search this hotel name on the web.
If you stay here, you take your life in your own hands.
- Sebastian (2/5): Katastrophe! - Furchtbares Hotel in katastrophalem Zustand. Alles in allem absolut indiskutabel!
- Shugo (4/5): - This area is unsafe; there are many junkies on road and even inside the hotel.
- Rutendo (10/5): - Peacefulness
Gerne wieder!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Poor quality hotel and poor service. Very loud neighbors, lots of drunk party guests. Dodgy area. Avoid this place.
- Grant Morne (2/5): - I will not recommend it for any family or any one with kids
When we got at the place police were busy stopping a fight and area of hotel not recommend
- David (2/5): - No wifi.
Broken shower.
Ants in the room.
No battery in the tv remote.
Cleaned the room when asked not to.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Vert good service...😀👍
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel in a bad area - The hotel was clean and the room only had a few minor faults that weren’t really much of an issue. While the location was central and very close to the train station, the surrounding streets were very rough and felt quite unsafe at night.
- SARAVANAN (4/5): - Too tiny room with uncomfortable Bathroom size and bad locality
- Kim Man (8/5): - Go for business. Very convenient, walking distance to the fair and also the main train station.
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Torbjørn (6/5): Sentralt i "Red Light District" - Greit rom - ekstremt dårlig område.
- tolgaz720 (2/5): A bad hotel in even worse territory - The hotel is a feww hundred meters in hauptbahnhof (central station) area. Looks good on the map for transportation. But the problem is this area is invaded by addicts and prostitutes. The street stinks with urin and weed smoke. There is no air conditioning in the room. So you have to open the windows to be able to breathe in summers.
But the street never sleeps. Ppl shouting and fighting each other. Loud club musics. And even a drummer at 4 a.m.
The rooms are clean. Toilet and bathroom is fine. But its better to sleep at a park then pay to stay in this hotel especially in summer.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean and tidy but in the heart of the slumb, no AC. Be aware of all the drug addicts and homeless sleeping outside.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was clean but hotel was in a less than desirable area, however was close to the train station.
- Denise (4/5): - Hotel ok area not great very loud all night long no sleeping at all
- sang hyun (8/5): so so !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Reasonable Hotel - Very Dodgy Neighborhood - Hotel is reasonable, clean, staff were nice and helpful. However, the location is horrible, full of hookers, drug addicts and generally some pretty sketchy low life people. Don't stay here if you want a safe environment and nice memories of Frankfurt!!!!!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This hotel is not in the best of neighborhoods so a little extra security inside the room (i.e. added inside door lock, safe for valuables, etc.) would have been nice.
Not to mention no carpeting means that any and all noise resonated through the hallways making for very noisy night stays.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Disgusting and dodgy. Speackless
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Best to avoid the area - people at the front desk were friendly. I would recommend finding somewhere else
- Gill (2/5): Hotel was convenient for the rail station - We were a family of four and this hotel was for a one night stop off at the end of a holiday in Germany and Slovenia. I thought I had researched it but not enough as it was very basic and on the edge of a dodgy part of the town. There was a lot of disturbance from one or two others nearby talking loudly. It was quite frightening and we couldn't sleep. There was no way of contacting anyone apart from ringing the single man at reception from my mobile. It was reasonably clean and as mentioned, near to the station
- Anthony (10/5): A!! - Near the main station. All good
- Verified traveler (8/5): Buena calidad/precio - Todo bastante bien.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Comfortable but sparse - The Good:
1. Bed was comfortable.
2. Shower was hot and powerful.
3. Room was clean.
The Bad:
1. Noisy outside.
2. Noisy inside; tiled floors and cheap doors.
3. No fridge or kettle.
- Volodymyr (6/5): Clean but not very quiet stay - The room was fine, very clean. The wi-fi worked more than it did not. The reception guy was nice and check in was fast. However, the was noise coming from surrounding rooms. I disliked this more than the area, which is not perfect. Location next to the main railway station actually was a big plus for me.
- Vishal4priya (10/5): Nice hotel 👌 - We visit this hotel 4 years ago but after four years we visit again and its totally change hotel is newly refurbished close to all shops Restaurant and Train Station. Recomend to all.👍👌Hotel staff very helpful.
- backpacksimon (6/5): Average 1-star hotel in a bad area - Alright, so this is a 1-star hotel in the red light district of Frankfurt and you should not expect a lot. Yes, the area is bad. Yes, there are strange people hanging around. Yes, the building is a bit run down. But I have seen worse.
The room was clean, the bathroom was clean and the bed was reasonably comfortable. But the hotel and surrounding are are generally noisy, so make sure to bring earplugs. Also, the rooms are quite bare with no amenities.
Overall, an OK place if you just need somewhere to sleep. Nothing more than that. But if you can afford it, go somewhere else :)
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hotel correcto. Mala zona.
- leigh (8/5): Perfect hotel for a lads trip - Clean hotel right next To the train station. Short walk or taxi to good pubs.
- dominjio (10/5): Friendly staff, clean rooms, central situated - We booked a room for four people. A friend spontaneously joined us and it was no problem for the staff that she could stay in the same room.
The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable and all-in-all there was anything we needed for an enjoyable stay.
The staff was very helpful & friendly in general. We could even postpone the checkout (didn't pay more for it) and we could leave our luggage there for a whole day after we checked out.
The area is very central, a lot of stores/shops nearby. It's 2 minutes to the central train station.
If you're looking for a cheap, central place with all the comfort needed, there you go!
P.S. : Nichts für Kinder, Oma und Opa.
- Patricia (8/5): The hotel was very clean - We had a wonderful experience, the resturants were near the hotel and all the sightseeing buses were nearby. We enjoyed our stay and the hotel was very clean. We received fresh towels everyday. I was surprise that there was no phone in the rooms. We had internet service. We could travel very easily from the hotel to any place we wanted to go. This was a great experience for the cost and I do not think that we could have done any better.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Not in the greatest area. Was an overnight stay. Done it's job. But very shady. Would stay in another area
Walking at night can be dangerous
- Verified traveler (4/5): Good location but very loud at night - This hotel is a five minute walk from Frankfurt HBF. Check in was easy and the receptionist was nice. The rooms were spacious but could use some cleaning and the bathrooms were very small. One of our two rooms reeked of smoke even though we had non-smoking rooms. The street in front was very busy and loud at night with the casino next door, obvious drug dealing, and cops patrolling throughout the night. Only stay here if you are on a budget.
- Gregory (10/5): Great value! - The hotel is located in an interesting neighborhood. A bit of riff raff outside but Hotel Mosel was extremely comfortable on the inside. A nice oasis they have created. The internet is impressively fast for a hotel. Ideal place for a young business traveller on a budget. I would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Right down the middle 5/10 - This hostel at first glance is very, very dodgy. The hotels.com pic is severely outdated, as the door under the sign is misleading, and is shuttered down. It's instead a single door under the very right of the sign.
The area itself is horrible to look at. It looks dangerous, and is indeed a red light area. It's on the edge, and with proper patching, the red light area can be avoided altogether. 2 mins from Frankfurt Central Station, 40 seconds from a nice small market.
Hostel has no baggage drop area as the desk is a 2m x 1m box. Key policy is also a bit dodgy as its a "leave key with us when you leave" deal. I am not travelled enough to know if this is normal, so to me it was dodgy, but please make up your own mind. I must stress that nothing was missing from my room, and with the exception of things moved during daily cleaning, it seems as though nobody entered the single room I was in.
I had the chance to meet 3 staffers of the hostel. First lad I met, lovely, lively, gave me the run down of the area after my concerns were expressed, basically the don't talk to anyone and polite decline the women of the night. Other two were always silent and tired, one even sleeping on the night shift.
Room was kept clean, superb showers, clean beds, all looking new. No fridge, kettle or any other hotel quirks.
I would recommend a short stay, but I would not make this my first choice, despite a pleasant, trouble free stay. 5/10, bad area, dodgy first glance, great room.
- May (8/5): Good Location - Good location.
- dart187 (10/5): Top spot - Checked inn on the 20th of August 2016. We got there before the time of 2 ' 0 clock and the boss said no problem showed us the rooms 2 people per room and they where bang on. I was in room 104 which was bang on. Clean fresh nice and new couldn't complain about nothing tv on the wall. Nice bathroom clean as with towel and shower gel hand wash. Ranbir the big boss downstairs was a diamond. The area looked a bit danger but no one says anything and carrys on about there own business nice lads . Good hotel run by good people. Don't get why there's so many bad reviews what are they on????. Check it out you can't go wrong...
- mblamire (2/5): A and poor hotelwful Area - This hotel is more of a hostel in the red light district. Quite an intimidating area . Whilst the rooms are clean and have obviously been redecorated, the whole building is noisy because of the tiled floors everywhere it is very noisy. The staff were ok but nothing can make up for the surrounding area.
- Bedford (2/5): USE AT YOUR OWN RISK ... - If you want to come face to face with hookers and drug dealers ... this is your place. This was not much more than a bed and a very small shower stall. The hotel lobby was a 4 foot hallway we reached by circumventing strip clubs and throngs of street people being checked out by police. The elevator was so small and scary, my wife refused to use it a second time. The room had no lamps, no amenities and there were construction workers smoking and hanging out everywhere in the stairwell. We locked our door and spent the night knowing we were leaving in a few hours from the nearby train station.
- SvetlanaN_11 (8/5): Underestimated - I saw a lot of negative comments about this hotel and was surprised, because my opinion is just the opposite. Of course, the hotel is not located in the best part of the city, but it is near the train station and the city centre. There is an outdoor parking right near the hotel, which is free in the evening and in the night; the locals say that it is safe even though there are a lot of shady people wandering in this area. I was still worried about my car, so I left it at a parking house right on the opposite side of the street, which was much safer and not very expensive. The room was spacious, clean and fine, we even got an en-suite room, although I booked a room with shared bathroom. The only disadvantage was that there was very poor internet connection in the room itself, but on the stairs and in the corridor it was good. The staff at the hotel are very helpful and nice people, and, moreover, it was one of the most budget options in Frankfurt even during an exhibition, when the prices for the other hotels were insanely high.
- TonyZ551 (2/5): Discusting - I was booked into the ABA Hotel by hotels.de, but when I got there I was told that I would be staying at their sister hotel, Hotel Mosel a few blocks away. Both hotels are in the red light district and I felt very unsafe walking at night. My room was filthy, with stained bedsheets, no hot water at all and it smelt of stale cigarette smoke and urine. Absolutely discusting. It was too late to find another hotel that night, but in the morning I had bites all up my legs. I moved out although the owner wanted me to pay for the second booked night. Avoid at all costs.
- YannT856 (2/5): Dishonnest - I am usually not picky about hotels, as I content with a bed to sleep for the night. But here I have two reasons to complain:
- The hotel is noisy, even though I was on the 5th floor and on the courtyard side. All kinds of buzz, heard even with earplugs. Not to mention that it doesn't feel secure, definitely not a place to go as a couple.
- in fact I had booked at the Rossija hotel which is just beside, but the receptionist at the Mosel hotel looked at my booking (a long time) and did not tell me (!). So I paid twice for the night and realized it a week later when looking at my bank statement...
- Smarty18 (2/5): Oh dear :S - RED LIGHT DISTRICT ALERT! Stayed here for two nights because it was a fair price (45 euros a night). The reception area is cordoned off with what looked like bullet-proof glass. The service was as shonky as the establishment itself. Pimps and prostitutes adorn the levels of this hostel. Elevator wouldn't take us to the ground floor, internet didn't work, tap in our room put out a mere dribble, the heaters were noisy, we weren't shown how to use the really dodgy door key, and our room smelt odd.. definitely wouldn't recommend this place. The only good point was that it was centrally located, however in an awful part of the R.L.D :S
- jerrycW7575OQ (2/5): Ridiculously overpriced and horrible neighborhood - My son and I stayed in this hotel on the last leg of our German vacation during March. After spending a week in Bavaria and enjoying every second of it our one night stay in Frankfurt was very disappointing. Mosel Hotel is in the red light district of Frankfurt near the Hauptbanhof. The patrons of the nearby strip clubs and gambling establishments aren't of the type that you would want to be hanging out outside of your hotel. Very sketchy situation after dark. The hotel staff were actually very friendly but between their rudimentary English and my rudimentary German it was a little tough to thoroughly communicate. There were no bathrooms in the hotel rooms just one bathroom at the end of the hall on each floor. No air conditioning or heat in the rooms either. Cleanliness was an issue as well seeing as the floor we stayed on had an offputting odor throughout our one night stay. The overall ambience of the hotel reminded me of a hotel you would see in a movie about soviet-era Russia. Paid an exorbitant amount for my one night stay since it was a "holiday" (St. Patrick's Day).
- Stagman75 (2/5): Don't go There - I booked 2 rooms. I thought/assumed they were en-suite, they were not. Lift did not go to 5/6th floor, so had to walk up from 3/4th. I could have walked down from 7th if the reception had told me. There was no hot water in my room. About 30seconds of hot water in the bathroom. No bedside light and the curtains fell off when pulled. My customer's room was worse!! Same problems with curtains. Wardrobe door had fallen off before we arrived. Bed falling apart. TV had no sound and was propped up on 2 chairs. Sofa stained. Very dodgy people in the street outside hotel. Appalling value for money!!!! I have never stayed in a hotel this bad and to be charged €149 is a complete insult.
