Guest Reviews
- Jo (8/5): Enjoyable. - Friendly and great location for the beach. The breakfast was great a simple selection of cereal and toast which is really all you need. The cricket pitch view kept our grandson entertained too. Very quiet hotel and the owner very approachable and helpful especially with parking. We would stay here again. Slightly dated room but it didn’t stop us having a comfortable time.
- Matt (8/5): - Friendly service, nice area near the beach, nice view of the cricket ground out of the window. Good value all round. There were no particular issues, all was fine
- Heather (8/5): - Very welcoming and could not do enough for us.
- Edyta (7/5): -
- craven (8/5): - Close to all amenities. Nothing to complain about.
- Philip (9/5): Mark was such a nice guy, he was very helpful and we had a few laughs at breakfast every day. - Breakfast was ideal for me, although the coffee was not good so I just had a pot of tea.
The cricket view room although dated was perfect for a visiting Yorkshire cricket supporter. The bed could be improved, and change to a decent coffee at breakfast.
- Carl (8/5): Nice and peaceful and private - Clean and location All ok
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- David (5/5): Passable -
- Sharon (7/5): Good - Staff friendly. Only one member of staff. There was no downstairs window at all as reception had to ring a mobile number. Just supplied a continental breakfast. No cooked breakfast. No TV in the lounge. Which i thought was upsetting as you were only allowed to eat hot food in there and not in your room .
- Liddell (9/5): A great place for a weekend break in Scarborough - The location was really central to the city centre and the north shore both were walking distance with ease. The parking was arranged straight away with the host and he was really helpful explaining how everything worked
- Newport (8/5): We had a lovely stay perfect for what we needed. - It was a really good location for the Open Air Theatre and not far from the sea front.
The breakfast was really good value.
The host was really friendly. The bed was a bit uncomfortable and the room could do with a bit of updating.
- Lewis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (8/5): Very good - Close to venue Nothing
- Ian (10/5): Worth a visit - That attracts some well known acts (The Script & UB40 while we were there. Friendly staff, comfy beds, close to the North bay and peasholme park, also the open air theatry ... no complaints. Although the outside seemed in need of a bit of tlc, everything was clean and the staff friendly.
- John (4/5): Was a nice little break, the host MARK was very nice and friendly, was a great help, but Scarborough is not for me I’m a - Near to wherever I needed to go Very very basic but got what I paid for
- Richard (6/5): Pleasant -
- Daniel (9/5): Superb - Mark was very friendly and helpful
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Debra (6/5): Comfortable, basic but good value - Great location
Basic but good value
Jar of sweets and tea and coffee etc nice touch
All in all was as per my expectations and adequate. Was all ok . Decor a bit rough and dated. But you get what yohnpay for and I'm not too fussy so was fine for me.
Sink in bedroom but
Toilet and shower on different floors so unusual but I wasn't expected anything 5 star so okay for me.
Hand-wash but no complimentary toiletries so good job I took my own.
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gavin (9/5): Our ideal and traditional Scarborough Bed and Breakfast - The service was exceptional, the room ideal, facitities spot on, friendly, the location perfect. We were very happy and my son is not an easy lad to please. I can’t think of anything. We were happy
- Freeman (6/5): the bed could have been a bit softer - did not have breakfast, location was very good it was all a bit dated
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Gary (9/5): Overnight stay for the open air theatre - Host very friendly. Room spacious. Breakfast although cooked not available, was more than adequate for our needs and at £2.50 per person, was very good value for money. Parking was on side of road but was given a permit so was free. View from bedroom was good as it overlooked the cricket field. walking distance to the open air theatre so no worry with having to drive or park.
- Jenny (8/5): Good value. - Walking distance to open air theatre for concert.
- Aisha (7/5): Comfortable, practical, great location, great customer service - It was a comfortable room, although very very basic and dated. The en suite was tiny, but functional, although the water pressure on the shower and toilet was a bit low. The customer service from manager, the only other person we saw during our two night stay, was excellent. The location just a 5 mins walk from the beach was superb. Parking arrangements (with a permit system and cheap parking on the road) was great. I kind of said it already above. But also would have liked to have a proper cooked breakfast option, not just a simple continental one. However I think this was possibly a capacity/staffing issue. And actually it did mean we went and tried the local cafe offerings!
- Robert (5/5): Passable -
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danny (10/5): Great location and friendly staff. - Excellent location, not too far away from the town centre but far enough away to be quiet on a night. Greeted by very friendly staff and made you feel welcome. Can’t complain about anything
- Phakakarn (6/5): Pleasant -
- Steven (9/5): Superb - Very good price and great breakfast for the price. Happy with the central location to the sea and restaurants. Would go there again. Mark was very helpful.
- Anonymous (9/5): Great location - Location and Mark were perfect. Great value. Bed was a bit soft
- Richard (6/5): Acceptable budget price hotel - the accomdation matched the budget. this wasnt a high cost place so we didnt expect a high end hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, with a clean en suite shower made this a perfectly acceptable hotel for the price.
The location at the northern end of town was nice as we had easy access to both north and south beaches, by a good walk to either The lack of a cooked breakfast is a little dissapointing, there is a cold continental style breakfast offering however we elected to walk to one of the many local cafe for breakfast.
The decor and some of the fixtures and fittings are a little tired, but not to the detriment of our stay.
- Joanne (10/5): Look forward to next stay with you - I have stayed at the Aaran previously it's a great location lovely friendly staff beautifully clean 👌
- Jane (8/5): Very good - Location was great and good value for money. Staff were friendly and left you to it. Only a cold breakfast available. Place can benefit from refreshing the old decor, but I believe it has just changed owners, and this may be a plan already.
- Bambi (10/5): Lovely guest house - Really lovely management, good location between both beaches & lovely veiw onto cricket pitch
- Carolyn (10/5): Exceptional - Stayed her to see Korn at the open air theatre.
Hotel is in an ideal location as its a 10 min walk to the open air theatre and 10 min walk into town.
Host's were very welcoming and accommodating. Rooms decor is a bit dated but I believe the new owners are doing it up. I look forward seeing it when come back again :)
- Nirup (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danny (8/5): Very good -
- Dean (8/5): Very good - Very clean basic room but had everything you needed and located very centrally for all amenities
- Janet (10/5): Exceptional - Great service and comfortable clean room.
- Edward (8/5): Handy spot to stop at for SOAT and North beach - Very convenient for open air theatre, Host was polite and welcoming. There was an option for a light uncooked breakfast for £2. But no hot food available The room was starting to look a bit worn out and the old single glazed sash windows let in a lot of noise from street outside. But was clean and tidy and served the purpose for a quick concert visit
- Gail (5/5): Passable -
- Abby (8/5): Exactly what we needed😀 - I loved the location of this place, we were looking for somewhere cheap enough for one night when we had tickets for JLS at the open air theatre. One room for three of us was not only spacious but comfortable and clean, ideal for the price + only a few minute walk to the open air. Staff was there to meet at 3pm check in and let us know everything we needed for our stay, extremely friendly and welcoming. We also had a very nice view of the cricket club which was beautiful.
- Andrews (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jan (7/5): Good -
- Adrian (9/5): Amazing friendly and welcoming atmosphere - The owner was amazing and welcoming! Location was good and excellent value for money. Sat Nav does not take you to correct location.
- Brookes (3/5): Served its purpose - Good location The outside looks nothing like the picture. It looks very run down. Everything inside looks like it needed a good deep clean (doors & skirting boards). The bedding wasn't ironed and looked a little grubby.
- Brenda (6/5): Pleasant - Friendly helpful. Staff. Good value breakfast.
- Eli (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly caretaker indeed! Couldn't find a bus, so itvwas a bit far to walk with a heavy suitcase
- Rob (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean but dated
- Peter (10/5): It was excellent - Breakfast and location superb Not good reception on the television
- David (8/5): Very pleasant relaxing stay will definitely return - Very warm welcome the room was very clean Bathroom was very small but not an issue
- Simon (9/5): Nice location, a short walk to the sea and into the town. - I found the host polite, courteous and exceptionally helpful. I came up for a family wedding and needed to iron my shirt and press my suit trousers, when I asked if he had an iron and ironing board, he was very obliging.
- Alison (8/5): Perfect budget one night - Great budget place to stay a night or two. Checking in and out very easy and early check in no problem. Room was comfortable with sink, wardrobe and tv, little extras were tissues and tea/coffee. Shared toilet and shower with one other room, good shower very clean. Recommend highly
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Great location for open air theatre and miniature railway and sea life centre and literally backs on to the cricket ground. Great views
- Wimbush (3/5): Outdated hotel unlikely to meet expectations - Breakfast was good value. The staff were friendly and helpful. The property is a very basic, dated budget hotel. The small room was over-priced as it was not ensuite and had no on-site parking. It is surprising that it is rated as very good and 8.2
- James (8/5): Decent room, basic needs, very helpful and friendly staff, would consider next year. - Was attending the fortress festival at scarborough spa. The property was located a 20-25 minute walk away from venue. As i was only using it to sleep over, room was decent basic amenities, tea and coffee provided, decent bed, small size tv which was probably appropriate for the room. Shower and toilet was external but assigned to only my room and another room. Also very close to North beach with some brilliant views and not far off from Castle. Not really much to complain about, if you want a bigger room, then possibly go for something with ensuite. Issue with shower on first morning there but this was sorted by helpful staff. If you want a more centralised location then might be better looking for somewhere closer to the centre, but as i dont mind walking then this is okay for me. Wifi is a bit hit and miss, had to go out of room to get provider/wifi host on phone.
- Alexandra (9/5): Superb -
- Ran (8/5): Great location, cheap parking and breakfast, fantastic service! Mark has made our stay very welcoming and he kept us inf - Great location, walking distance to beach and peasholm park, also town centre Old facility, poor sound proofing, can hear everyone else’s fans or flushing toilets in same building. Need better maintenance of the bathroom instead of using black tape to put things together
- Ste (7/5): Good -
- Vince (10/5): Bank Holiday break, with the Lads . - Room was great value for money, very spacious, clean and tidy Not really a problem but ...Checking in, as i got there early morning, luckily it wasn't a bad day had a walk into town , as you had to check in at 3 , but didn't question it ? .
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional - Good stay cud of Don with a proper breakfast instead of a continental one. Rely nice people. Will be staying again. Not having a proper breakfast.
- Neil (1/5): Bad -
- Danica (8/5): Very good -
- Jeff (7/5): Good -
- Elena (9/5): Superb -
- Allan (8/5): Very good - mark was very welcoming and friendly car parked with a disc was just across the road, location was great. room was clean warm with everything thing you need for a weekend away breakfast was basic which was explained by mark but plentiful and tasty for just £1.50 we will be returning soon. thanks mark nothing everything was great
- Michael (10/5): good value for money clean and tidy hotel good staff - The owner Mark was very helpful and informative, he ensured we could park opposite the premises with a local parking card throughout our stay. The room was ideal for two of us with a single and double bed which were both comfortable. The bedroom and bathroom area were clean and tidy. Toiletries and tea/coffee were provided. The view from the room overlooked the Cricket Ground and we were only 20 yards from the entrance this was the reason for our trip tom watch the County match. I had the Continental breakfast on 2 mornings it was good value for £1.50p. We enjoyed our stay and it was good value for money. Nothing really for the money paid it was excellent
- Cedric (9/5): Excellent - Friendly host, everything was exceptionally clean, good location Some equipment was dated
- Jon (5/5): Basic accommodation as was expected from the description and photos. Very helpful young man at chec. -
- Clitheroe (10/5): A great place to stay. - The whole experience was very good. Parking was sorted out within minutes of arriving as was breakfast. The owner could not do enough for us. The service was excellent. We didn't like to leave. A couple of more days stay would have been nice.

- Lisa (10/5): brilliant - great location, clean, great owner, very helpful
- Tracy (10/5): Perfect location - Location was ideal for the open air theatre & north bay. Basic accommodation which was very clean, helpful staff, a car parking token for only £2, & a lovely view of the cricket pitch. Cannot fault this place & will definitely stay again.
- Rio (10/5): Exceptional - From the moment we arrived the host couldn't have been more welcoming. Asked if we needed any help carrying our bags, showed us to our room and asked if it was OK! Gave us information about the stay and also what was around in the local area. Honestly, we felt very comfortable staying here! The room was a family room, it was a good size with a lovely view out of the window. The beds were unbelievably comfy, all of us slept well. Overall, our short stay was great and we'd definitely go back here if we come to stay in Scarborough again!
- Jackie (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (5/5): Passable - Mark was a very pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable host The establishment could do with a scheme of redecoration, and modernisation
- Malcolm (8/5): Very good -
- Murphy (7/5): Good - Friendly host. Good location. It wasn't ideal not having an en suite bathroom, nor being on the second floor, with a 4 year old.
- Karen (9/5): Comfortable pleasant and worth what we paid - Breakfast was very cheap but more than adequate
Mark went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable well fed and watered
Beds very comfortable
Hotel clean
Mark was more than happy to answer any questions we had re places to go, park the car etc Nothing
- Gareth (10/5): What an amazing break - The B&B was far above expectation. The owner went above and beyond for us. The location was exceptional and close to everything we needed. We will definitely be visiting again and recommending to friends and family
- Sarah (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff. Good location.
- Karl (8/5): Good stay. Mark was really helpful. - Good location good sized room for the 3 of us Nothing

- Brian (10/5): Exceptional - nice clean room overlooking cricket ground , few minutes walk from beach and town
- Alison (8/5): Central location, comfortable room and bed. - The room was clean and equipped with tea/coffee making facilities. The ensuite was perfectly acceptable and functional.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious.
A continental breakfast, which I did not have, was available to pre-order and a reasonable price.
- Kathryn (7/5): Good -
