Guest Services staff were great-- contacted me ahead with check in information and provided a number should we need anything during our stay; also worked with us on a late check out which was appreciated! Space was quiet, clean, and prepped for us without issue. Had hopes for more comfortable pillows...a minor thing in the grand scheme of things. It wouldn't deter us from booking another stay at Appledoorn's. Only other MINOR issue was the TV-- volume was hard to maneuver to a quiet viewing level. Even at level 3 is was loud, and level 2 shut the volume off without muting. TV clarity and access to channels were both great. Again, not enough to deter us, but if you're with a partner that is a light sleeper and you want to watch TV, one of you is going to have difficulties. :) Overall a great stay--positive experience, friendly professional staff, and a clean, welcoming environment. I'm guessing it's a hopping place in the summer months. Would not hesitate to book again.

I had to drive quite a distance to find a restaurant. If I had known it was closed during my stay I would have prepared or stayed somewhere else.

- Tara (10/5): Pleasant stay on Lake Mille Lacs! - Such a pleasant stay on Lake Mille Lacs! We were in town for a wedding, and I wish we could have spent more time taking advantage of the amenities, like the beautiful beach. The property was quiet, family friendly, and clean.
- Carla (10/5): Appledoorn's Sunset Bay Resort - The resort is a well laid out family resort. Our getaway took place during covid-19 and was very private and relaxing. The quad hotel we stayed in was beautiful, spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. We are looking forward to returning in summer to enjoy all the fun resort activities!

- Kristine (8/5): Restaurant was always closed - This place was nice but one issue we had was that we could never go to the restaurant and eat. There was a wedding so the restaurant was closes for dinner. We asked if they wohld be open in the morning, we were told yes, but then we got there at 9am and it was closed. Just disappointing that we picked to stay here for the convenience and ended up having to go elsewhere to eat. I just wish that they would treat the guests the same as the wedding party.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Cabins are beautiful! Plows not helpful - The cabin was beautiful. I had a quad section and it was really cozy and clean. Id recommend a few floor mats in the winter since we were trudging in snow. Checked in early no problem and didnt have to check out in person which worked cause I was fishing. The snow plow driver was less than helpful. I asked if he could clear me a short path to where I was fishing and he said he couldnt because it was someone elses property - even though it was between a row of Appledoorn Cabins east of it and a whole city and plowed roads of appledoorn cabins west of it. Somehow though it was not their property? Also being the middle of a public lake. Cant help but think he was being lazy and blamed turf wars to not do it. Cabins were great!! Ill go back for that. However, doubt ill go out of their launch again. On top of that - I didnt catch anything - and went where they recommended.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Spot - Very nice family based resort but having a boat was kind of a pain. The bay is very shallow and you need the resort to use a tractor to launch your boat. The docks were nice with adequate bumpers and others left large boats tied up overnight. Sunset Bay is secluded from the main lake and is a great location. There was somewhat limited space for parking boats, trailers and large vehicles. It is a pretty large resort with nice green grass areas and modern cabins. We chose to launch at a public landing one mile away. Charging the boat batteries was a chore as their boat trailer area had limited plug ins and the ones we parked by didn't work at all. The restaurant had some of the best lakeside food we have come across. The beach area is awesome with lots of toys for kids and sand beaches this nice can be hard to come by, especially on Mille Lacs.

It looks like they do a lot of upkeep and our room seemed to be freshly painted. Would definitely recommend - even for a winter stay, as they rent out fish houses too!

- Jill (10/5): - The Honeymoon Suite was available. It was a quick and easy upgrade. It had a nice view of the lake. The room was great with a full kitchen and bath, and the bed was comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very tasty and the staff was personable, friendly and helpful.
- Donald (8/5): Mycket trevligt ställe med utsikt över Mille Lac - Jag var mycket nöjd med min svit och hela anläggningen, men eftersom jag var där under lågsäsong så var allt stängt. Detta är också varför jag inte kan ge annat än ett medelbetyg på service, eftersom jag varken kunde besöka receptionen eller restaurangen. Min svit var fullt utrustad med kyl, frys, micro, spis mm, så jag kunde enkelt laga min egen mat. Det fanns t.o.m diskmaskin. Stor TV i allrummet med en härligt öppenspis med fejk eld.

- Blair (10/5): Great place very homey. - Great place to stay. Room was very comfortable and homey. Unfortunately due to it being the off season did not interact with any of the resort staff, however they were very helpful and courteous over the phone. Will be staying here again during the summer.
- Steve (10/5): I love the studios - First of all, the staff at check in are very professional and friendly. Like I said I rented a studio room, very clean, comfortable beds, and best was the amazing view in the morning watching the ice shifting as the lake was beginng to freeze. I stepped out to peace and absolute silence...that alone was a treat with a fresh covering of snow that night. I will and have recommended to friends and family. The best thing is I will defiantly book here year round !! Winters are amazing and I love the cold. I'm now looking for a home in the area.
