Guest Reviews
- Dan (7/5): Good -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil (8/5): Very Good. - Nice breakfast. Good staff.
- Mary (4/5): Lovely accommodation but disappointing food - The room was excellent - spacious, comfortable and very clean and quiet. The menu for the pub was not what we had anticipated when we booked. The menu had nothing that we felt we could eat. We are not keen on spicy food, fatty food or large portions of meat.
3 out of the 4 starters were served with sweet chilli sauce, so that ruled them out.
Of the mains, the meat portions were very large. The fish and chips would be fatty, the curry, chicken madras and tagine were no good for us as they were spicy, and we don't like burgers.
It might appear that we are fussy eaters, but we just like something simple and not spicy. We would have been content with the Swedish meatballs, salmon or chicken and mushroom pie that shows up on your website. Maybe you need to update your website when the menu changes.
It was a shame as we don't often eat out and this was going to be a treat.
- Ian (10/5): great location - great
- Edwards (7/5): Good -
- Roy (8/5): Very good -
- Farrissey (8/5): Very good - the breakfast staff were lovely Evening staff were unfamiliar with booking conditions-ie. requesting bath mats for showering-did not blame them- but maybe need more info from manager who might benefit from a course in hospitality.
When booking online there is no option for the type of room reserved. Am curious to find the the KING ROOM-as seen on web site.

- Simon (4/5): I wont be recommending - Bedroom and bathroom comfortable but overheated. (i) Staff friendly but not professional
(ii) Breakfast VERY poor - no fresh fruit, no cereal with low/no sugar, bread manufactured not local or fresh, no flexiblity on timing
- Sue (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbara (9/5): Superb - The whole experience, the staff were very attentive, the hotel was very clean, the room and bathroom were also spotless.we had the Nelson bedroom..
The bed was very comfortable.
We enjoyed our stay.
- Carol (10/5): Will be back beautiful location and hotel - Very chilled few day will be back
- Jane (8/5): A comfortable stay - Great location
- Ian (8/5): Nice pub, spoilt by unacceptable noise from outside. - The property was clean and comfortable with a good carpark. The excessive noise from outside the property until around 11.45pm. There was yelling from a number of people that made it impossible to sleep.
- Lynda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alistair (10/5): Excellent venue for a local wedding we were attending - Excellent breakfast
- Victor (9/5): Superb - Staff very nice, friendly + helpful. My double bed felt like it wasn't level + pillows a little to firm, toilet seat not fully secure. Otherwise a very nice two night stay.
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and superb food. All the staff were friendly and helpful. One little niggle. The bathroom door (in our Nelson room) couldn't be closed without slamming it, no matter how we tried! Not very good for our fellow guests, especially at night.
- Pippa (9/5): Superb -
- S&d (10/5): Excellent - Shame we couldn't stay longer. - We had a Garden room which was actually a set of chalets in the grounds. Lovely quiet room well appointed with everything you would need. Breakfast was excellent. Nothing everything was great
- Pippa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The garden view room was huge. No a/c wasn't an issue at the start of September. The desk was big enough for doing work on a laptop.
- Clive (9/5): Very comfortable overnighter. - Food very good. Menu a bit limited. Staff very good. Summer is a star. No call back from central office when trying to book.
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - Bottled water in rooms would have been nice as it was a very hot day.
- Caroline (9/5): Superb -
- Dawn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katrina (9/5): Superb - Excellent service from the staff at The Rodney Breakfast was lovely as were the evening meals Nothing....great location and value for moneyl
- Frazer (10/5): Wonderful place to stay - Excellent room, really comfy bed and lots of space for clothes and luggage.
Breakfast was lovely with mixture of cereal and toasts with the option to order hot breakfasts from the kitchen.
Really friendly staff and felt that if we needed to ask for something they would be happy to help. We didn’t need anything as the room was great and the food was delicious. Nothing
- Dianne (8/5): Great stay as usual - Stayed here many times . We love the garden rooms All find
- David (8/5): A very pleasant and comfortable stay in a location which suited us well. - We had a lovely room, well equipped including an excellent en-suite bathroom, and with a beautiful view. It was quiet and peaceful. The breakfasts were good but not exceptional. Service was friendly and efficient. We found that the general welcome to be rather cool and disinterested. The friendliness which was evident on our previous visit two years ago was missing. Dinner on the Wednesday evening was disappointing; quite a number of the dishes on the menu were not available that evening. There were few customers so perhaps Wednesday is the 'low' day of the week.
- Courtney (10/5): Friendly staff, lovely rooms - Nice area, nice rooms/bathrooms, very clean and well presented so clearly well looked after and the staff were lovely - let us have access to a room early as we had a wedding and they were so helpful. More vegan options for the breakfast would be good / larger portions as it was small compared to the non-veg breakfasts but the server was lovely and friendly and did give us some extra hash browns when mentioned so we were happy! :-)
- Cecile (9/5): Very comfortable with all facilities as required including gluten free food options - Excellent location for the event we were participating in. Very quiet and modern accommodation
Plenty of safe parking space. Nothing
- Kelly (10/5): The Rodney is a comfortable, welcoming place to stay. - The dog friendly room we stayed in was lovely and very comfortable; there is direct access to a garden area, although it is not enclosed. The restaurant serves lovely food and the staff cannot do enough for you. There is plenty of parking and the location is great - very picturesque. I would have liked somewhere to sit directly outside of the room. A little bench in front of the raised flower area would have been very welcome in the warm morning sunshine.
- Veronica (9/5): Lovely comfortable stay, would recommend. - Good location, lovely views, spacious room, friendly helpful staff and plenty of parking No outside lighting, came back about 10:30pm, hotel in darkness had to use mobile phone torch.
Would suggest outside lighting.
- Rodney (9/5): Enjoyable stay - Staff excellent, Summer in particular, food, wine good service Breakfast a little chaotic. Short staffed ? but tried their best.
- Verity (9/5): A welcoming and friendly stay - Really helpful staff, welcoming and friendly atmosphere. We had booked the family room for 5 of us which was a bit cramped, so the staff kindly helped us book the adjacent room for a fair rate, giving us a much more relaxing stay. Enjoyed a nice dinner and breakfast. The family room was small for 5 people.
The communication advised us it was necessary to book in before 3pm, but when we arrived at 2:30pm, there was nobody on site and so after a long journey we had to take the family off again for a few hours before returning again at 5pm.
- Lucy (7/5): Good - Lovely but no fridge in rooms. Needed to be more on the menu in the evening like salads etc
- Hollie (8/5): Lovely location and overnight stay! - Beautiful location and venue.
Nice breakfast (albeit small) and friendly staff. I think the price is a little steep for what you get.
Signs of wear and tear (could do with touch ups).
- Lucy (6/5): Average. - Close to wedding venue. Not open all day and need a more varied menu in the evening- salads etc. Need fridges in rooms.
- Dr (9/5): Superb - Lovey spacious room
Excellent breakfast
- Macrae (9/5): Superb -
- Ann (6/5): Pleasant -
- William (7/5): Check the restaurant opening times before you book - Clean, comfortable and well equipped bedroom with a large bathroom which included a walk in shower. No restaurant available on Sunday. We were warned by phone on the day of our arrival that the restaurant would be shut so we were able to pick up some food for a picnic. We arrived just after 4pm and they were waiting to close the bar! We were able to buy some drinks and a bottle of wine for later. By 5pm all the staff had left.
If you want to stay in the area on a Sunday night, try the Talbot in Knightwick, 2 miles down the road. They'll feed you.
- Juan (7/5): Charming location, nice pub/restaurant but spartian bungalows - We were a party of 5 but the extra bed we requested was not in place. It was installed promptly though.
The room was OK for the price, a tad small and bare bones.
The pub/restaurant is nice, the breakfast ok for the price.
- Sharon (10/5): Highly recommend this hotel. - Superb service received, lovely location, room spotless, comfortable just what we needed. Very dog friendly, staff were friendly and Summer went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Having to leave !
- Sarah (7/5): Pleasant stay in lovely part of the world - Lovely part of the world. Staff very friendly. Lodges spacious and comfortable. Breakfast itself was good but table very sticky and also to suggest you put coffee, plates and glasses near food table to avoid lots of people walking back and forth
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Clare (10/5): Exceeded expectations highly recommend. - Great place and will go back!
Rooms spacious & very clean but staff were brilliant all day exceeded expectations. Thank you Nothing
- Clare (10/5): Great place, clean and friendly staff - Great place, staff couldn’t do more to help service was fantastic. Highly recommended Nothing
- Martin (7/5): Very pleasant - Clean and pleasant Nothing
- Jane (10/5): Perfect all our needs catered for with a welcome and a smile - Manager and staff very helpful and accommodating
This is our second time at the Rodney and will definitely stay again
- Gordon (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely room and great food Lack of real beer
- John (8/5): Nice comfortable pub will stay there again. - Very good location for me as I was looking for somewhere to stay after spending the day at Shelsley Walsh.
The accommodation units looked quite new and well equipped. They were very clean and comfortable.
A good choice for breakfast and it was nicely cooked also a reasonable choice if you don’t want a cooked breakfast. Unfortunately the restaurant is not open on a Sunday evening, it it is not far to another pub.
- Samantha (10/5): Wonderful Place to Stay - My husband and I revisited the Rodney after staying here the night before our wedding last year. We had such a good experience we were excited to return. The staff were amazing (just as before), the room was beautifully clean, the location is extremely beautiful, and the breakfast was delicious. NA
- Tony (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (9/5): Lovely welcoming inn in a nice location - Very friendly, welcoming and efficient staff. Nice ambience in the bar/restaurant. Our room was really nice. Not the cheapest by the time you have added £25 for 2 breakfasts but certainly good value overall. Nothing
- Gordon (10/5): Great accommodation - Great accommodation and food and drink
- Evelyn (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (6/5): Pleasant - Very quiet Wifi didn’t work as needed it for work and couldn’t find anyone to help except re telling me what it was called. Sample menu nothing like actual menu as this was basic I appreciate it’s mid week. The sample menu was what drew me in to stay.
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Ellesha (8/5): Very good - Beautiful setting and really friendly staff. Lovely relaxed feel and a compact but clean and comfortable room. Stunning part of the UK and an ideal base for a wedding trip.
- Mgbgtv8 (9/5): Superb - comfy bed Very pleased
- Jeremy (7/5): Good -
- Markarowe (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location, friendly staff and very comfortable room. Having to leave.
- Sophieking1 (8/5): Lovely homely stay with friendly staff and lovely food - Very friendly staff and excellent service in the bar and restaurant. Evening meal and breakfast was beautiful. A really nice shower! The room even had a dog bowl and bed for my dog. I didn't venture out for a walk outside if the hotel so can't comment on location but was in a quiet rural area. The room was quite warm and the window was shut when i arrived, however there was a very small plug-in fan available in the room. It would have been great if there was an enclosed area for the dogs. It would only need to be a small patch of grass just for them to go to the toilet rather than having to walk them around the carpark
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional - great overnight stop
super service and accommodation
welcoming host and staff
great breakfast
excellent beer very good
nothing to complain about
- Natalie (10/5): A lovely place to stay - Clean, comfortable and peaceful lodge. Fantastic staff! N/A
- Caller (8/5): Only one night, but we were made welcome, the breakfast was excellent - Great room detached from the pub, nice and quiet. Comfortable beds, good shower, coffee machine, spacious 🙂 Initially we were put in a room with a double bed, when I had asked for separate beds, luckily they were able to negotiate with another customer and were able to switch us around.
- David (4/5): Disappointing - Quality facilities, decor good.
Altho' closed on monday they did volunteer to provide an evening meal - small choice, very average! Pub closed sunday and monday ... no food, no atmosphere
Room not cleaned. or replenished during stay.
Breakfast choice limited to varieties of 'Full English'. No fruit!
Several very small signs giving advice eg: "Shower mat available from reception" noted only after showering.
Feel that the place is financially suffering, so staff, service, is minimised.
Shame ... it is in a lovely position and has good facilities.
- Phillipa (10/5): A hidden gem - Our garden room was lovely, in a purpose built wooden building with 2 other rooms. It was quiet, bright, and had fabulous bedding, along with very nice tea and coffee making facilities. We were initially allocated a room at the rear of the wooden building which was very dark as close to trees. We were moved to another room and were very happy with our replacement.
- Godfrey (6/5): It’s a shame because the rest of the visit was good! - Great welcome and service in restaurant by single member of staff on duty. The room I had was called Morgan. It had only a view of the kitchen vents! Noise from the cellar cooling fans kept me awake all night! I did inform the guy on reception when leaving. His response was that’s the first noise complaint this year. So others had complained last year! Avoid this room at all costs. Felt his response rather rude and unhelpful. He said try another room on next visit. Will there be one?
- Michael (8/5): This place has the potential to be our favourite stop in the Gloucester, Worcester and Hereford are - Good choice of breakfast items. Sugar for cereals had been forgotten.
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lindridge (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was very good food, staff, location.
- Gordon (9/5): Did what we wanted it was all good -
- Mark (6/5): If I do return then will ensure not on a Monday! - Location, proximity to my work destinations at Curradine Barns and Crumplebury Estate. Friendly young lady behind bar to greet and check in. Room was a lodge behind main pub and very pleasant with views across to Worcester. Had a call on morning before checking in to say as is a Monday no food/kitchen closed so may wish to make alternative arrangements somewhere on my 2 hr journey which was a pain and ended up being (very good) sandwiches etc from village en route. Bar also was only kept open until around 8.45 as I was there. Only one cask ale on which I always find a slightly worrying sign.
- Jim (9/5): Comfortable and relaxed in a beautiful rural location. - A quiet and relaxing locality, but well placed for touring in the area. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. N/A
- Sam (10/5): Fabulous - One night stay, very clean, staff friendly, good food, would stay again, highly recommend.
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Natalie (10/5): Peaceful, comfortable room - The room was clean and nicely furnished, the staff are always so friendly and helpful. N/A
- Hare (8/5): Lovely location and venue, friendly staff - Great location and friendly staff. Bed wasnt very comfortable and only a double. Food was good but breakfast was expensive for not much food. Would recommend however and happy to return if im in the area Bed was a double and not very comfortable. Pillows not great
- Eileen (5/5): would not stay there again to be honest - room was clean and tidy, staff seemed friendly, the lady that cleaned was very nice, bed was low, for someone who has a bad hip,
bed was not that comfortable to me,
breakfast was expensive for what you got,
- Amy (8/5): Very good - We chose The Rodney for its setting. We had been travelling from Wales with young children and wanted to stay somewhere with outdoor space.
We received a warm welcome and were checked in quickly and efficiently ( they had even linked the evening meal we book separately to our room booking)
We were pleased to be in separate accommodation to the back of the pub and were not disappointed by the size and cleanliness of the room. There was a kettle and a coffee machine including plenty of tea and coffee sachets. The bathroom was immaculate with plenty of towels and toiletries.
We chose to eat at the Rodney that night, and although the menu wasn't vast, there was enough choice for us. Our children enjoyed half portions of the gammon and chips and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The staff were excellent, especially our server (with red hair, I'm sorry I didn't catch your name). She was friendly and attentive and great with our children, chatting to them about the Lego they were building.
Breakfast service was just as good in the morning. We were served by the same member of staff who checked us in, and she again was friendly and continued to check in on us as we ate, offering more coffee should we need it.
My 3 years old even said,"Isn't this a nice restaurant Mummy"
- Katrina (8/5): Very good -
- Natalie (9/5): We loved it once we’d got there, would highly recommend. - Really comfortable rooms, a very peaceful location, and very friendly in person staff It was virtually impossible to speak to someone at the location on the phone as you’re routed through a phone service that doesn’t call through to the actual location. It would be a better experience if there was a direct line to the Rodney.
- Angela (9/5): Superb - Large comfortable lodge room.
Friendly staff. Limited menu.
- Kate (9/5): Superb - Lovely and clean rooms, well presented rooms. Breakfast was lovely. Nothing.
- Nicholas (8/5): Definitely visit again. - It’s location and the service supplied.
