- redheadch (8/5): Good nights stay, close to Blanchland for a stargazing event we were attending. - The breakfast was excellent of of high quality, with a selections of cooked items to choose from as well as cereal, and fruit juice etc We also had lunch before we headed out to our stargazing event that evening which was also very good with plenty of options and specials. Service both at the lunch time and breakfast was very good with friendly staff.
Plenty of parking space and they gave us a key for a guest outside door as we were going to be back late. Nothing really.
- Alasdair (8/5): Food excellent value 3 course £25 Chef had made a good effort to give above standard type meal Towels were excellent whi - Lovely setting Shower room was dire cracks in wash hand basin sagging shower curtain very old tiling brown stains around tiles
- John (10/5): -
- Barrie (6/5): A nice place to stay but keep clear of the food! - THe staff were very nice, the place was clean and warm, with good parking an idea location for us.
We didn't have breakfast We were a party of seven and had evening meal. which was pretty awful. THree ordered Liver & Bacon, it came with the smallest piece of liver I've ever seen served, just one piece! No Bacon until I went and requested it. I ordered the Cumberland Sausages which wer eobviously warmed up from previous cooking, the Broccoli was minscule, hopelessly over cooked and almost non-existent, The carrots were over cooked, My red onion chutney never appeared, the Mash potato was quite plainly some sort of reconstituted powdered mash. The gravy which was very tasty vistually swamped everything. Some other meals appeared to be quite satisfactory,
- Mark (10/5): Excellent welcoming stay. Just superb - Great central location. Clean and tidy. The bar is cozy and lovely and welcoming.
The food is to die for both evening meal and breakfast. Nothing

- Gail (9/5): Everything you want from a country inn at reasonable price. - A proper traditional family run inn, with an open fire in the bar, a wonderful hearty breakfast, friendly staff, dog friendly and warm, clean, quiet, nicely furnished room with a view. I was made to feel very welcome. My only suggestion would be a mat on the floor in the room for me to put the dogs bowl on.
- DAVID (10/5): Perfect for what we required - Welcoming, friendly and good breakfast
- Tim (8/5): Great pub base for walking - Friendly staff, can take a dog, good value. Great walking nearby - Derwent Reservoir, Derwent Gorge and Muggleswick Woods National Nature Reserve. Good views from a couple of the rooms across the valley to the reservoir. One of the rooms was noisy until 1am. The food was delicious, breakfast plentiful. It was quite solid fare - not cordon bleu (but that's not what I expected or paid for!).

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was in a great location, easy to find. Due to its location, and as I was the only guest staying, it was very remote when leaving in the dark!

The Staff were really friendly and welcoming with a warm welcome offered and an excellent Breakfast as well as a hearty and filling Evening Meal. The staff were great, very helpful and super friendly
I had an evening meal which was fabulous and so tasty. The portions were also generous The shower needs fixing, it didn't turn off well and was dripping til staff said it needed an extra turn which felt too much & was worried I'd break it. It was damaged/already repaired in places and needs a bit more tlc, also water pressure wasn't great but this didn't detract from its function.
Didn't get a hash brown with my brekki, I could have asked but wasn't that worried.
