I was first one to pool Sunday morning and bathroom had soaked toilet paper on floor and mold on walls at base. Breakfast was not good , runny eggs , no clean up crew by food . Not much for choices .

- David (3/5): Smelly room, wrong room - Location was great, the property was ok, they "claimed" that our reservation was screwed up by booking.com, but as they were fully booked i believe they gave our room to someone else who would pay more. The room smelled like a boys locker room. The water park was a joke but we had not come for that. We will stay somewhere else next time. Getting the room i booked would have been nice. Also our room smelled like a locker room. Breakfast was horrible. At least the staff were great. By the way the food at breakfast was bad not the service, poor girl had to work with what she was given.

- Starved Rock Man (9/5): We loved our stay and plan a return visit! - The location on Chequamegon Bay was perfect! Walking out the back door of the facility, one had a wonderful waterfront view, with a little path down to a small beach. Patio seating and benches were available, as were containers of sunscreen and bug spray. Outdoor games were available as well. (All of the pictures I posted are views from the property, not elsewhere along the water,) A gift shop area was available, which was very convenient for purchasing souvenirs at good prices. While the hotel and our rooms were clean, I experienced the same issue in each of the two rooms where we stayed. (My partner had previously booked a bayside view room and I added the previous night later on. It was a roadside view, and the water view wasn't available in the same room for both nights.) Both rooms had similar set-ups and in both instances, the area behind the desk lamp in the rear left corner of the desk had not been dusted. Using the plugs behind the lamps triggered my allergies as I plugged in my electronics. I pointed this out to the front desk and mentioned it to cleaning staff on the morning after our second night, not as a complaint, but as a suggestion for improvement. This will not deter us from staying here again; in fact, we have talked about a return visit.

- Trip35573684172 (8/5): Fall colors - We came to see the fall colors for our Anniversary. It was great! The location was perfect for all that we wanted to see and do. We strongly recommend this hotel.
- Kelly (8/5): - The sink was partially stopped and backed up every time we washed our hands. Discovered the multi-use hotel conditioner bottle was empty during the middle of my shower. There was no sheer inner curtain on the window like most hotel rooms have so that you can let light in without people seeing in your room from outside. Only blackout curtain or open glass. Nice outdoors on the lake, but some of it- like the gazebo is a little unkept and trash sitting near back doors and looked like people were partying the night before and left things kinda messy. Otherwise beds were comfy and we slept well. Enjoyed sitting down by the lake in the morning. Good, hot breakfast and the women who takes care of guests, cleaning dining area and filling food supply at breakfast on the weekend was doing awesome at that. Staff was friendly and helpful.

- Sandra (9/5): Loved the view and balcony - We did not have breakfast. We were not given fresh towels for our second day . Also we found someone that was in this room before us left their food in the refrig and there was water on a shelf that needed wiping up. Also tables and lamps were in need of dusting. So housekeeping needs improving. Furniture not the very comfortable.

- Rebecca (10/5): America Matters So Let's Show That It Does - It is a hidden gem with exceptional staff. They are doing their best to stay afloat like too many places are. The building is aged yet they do their best with what they can. The necessity of fresh linens and towels. The renovation of their breakfast area was a hidden gem with still fresh waffle toppings, resl whipped cresm and homemade biscuits & gravy! Staff are keeping the area top-notch.

- Thomas (6/5): - We stayed at this hotel September 2025. Immediately after walking in to our room, there was a bad musty oder. We turned the air on and that seemed to help at bit. After arriving back from dinner, it was cold so we turned the heat on low and the smell was horrible. Terrible nights sleep. Early the next morning we asked to be moved. The man at the front desk was so kind and got us a different room right away. The hotel is very old and could use some updating. Would not stay there again!

The room was typical for AmericInn. Special callout for the lady running the breakfast area - everything was spotless and clean and all the breakfast items were fully stocked - didn’t catch her name, but she was a rockstar ⭐️. Leave her a tip if you are there.

- Daisy (4/5): - Our stay was okay, we stayed for 4 nights and only got the room cleaned once, when it was cleaned out Roku Remote (that we brought from home) went missing. We reported it to the front staffthat night and he said he would look into it. In the morning when we were going to check out I asked about the remote and the front desk staff said he had no idea what I was talking about. The pictures of the swimming area aren't updated, so it was a little disappointing. Disappointed with our stay, will not stay again.

- James (4/5): - This place needs updates on the rooms and staff, checked out this morning, front desk man no thank you nothing. And the reason i called him a man instead of gentleman, because no customer service. Shower leaked everywhere. Toilet just kept running for over two nights. I asked front desk for some wash clothes. Attitude. I stayed at other Americinn and alway had nothing but good thing to brag about. Americinn was always our first place to stay. After this experience we are looking at different options unfortunately. Stay at this location. At your own risk.

- Elizabeth (4/5): - We had booked a 2 bed queen with lake view and balcony/patio. We got our room as booked but that is where the experience changed. The room smelled musty and like dog. Now I know the hotel does allow dogs but I thought thorough cleaning of the room after each guest leaves would be sufficient in eliminating the smell. We were wrong. The previous guests also left a dog poop bad full on the patio right by the door. With the musty smell came an overall damp feel to the room. The beds and soft surfaces were slightly damp to the touch. We purchased from Walmart Lysol, disinfectant wipes, and air fresheners. I wiped down all surfaces and sprayed Lysol everywhere in hopes of the musty, wet, dog smell to go away. The next day we were out all day, however when we returned the smell was just as bad. I called the front desk to ask if that is what all the rooms smelled like. The front desk clerk said he “didn’t think they all smelled like that.” He did offer to move us to another room. This time we got a smaller room but still a 2 queen with a lake view this time no balcony/patio. The smell wasn’t nearly as bad as the first room, but the cleanliness was again lacking. The amount of mold in the bathroom around the tub and shower stall was bad. I again cleaned all surfaces and in doing so it was apparent that dusting is not part of the room cleaning service. AmericInn should upgrade and think about the cleanliness of their rooms. We won’t be staying at another AmericInn again.

When we went to open it, we realized that the pull out bed was broken and once we had tried to pull it up, it was stuck half open. The staff had no solutions for us and we were only offered a 15% discount on one night. (We were staying 2 nights.) One of our party had to sleep on the couch cushions on the floor. Would not recommend.

The hotel treated us well in every way from check in through prompt and attentive house keeping and maintenance support when needed. The breakfast and view of the lake from the dining room were excellent! The staff really made our stay enjoyable. Wonderful staff, clean room, and great location. We'd been traveling for a month across the US and Canada and this hotel was a delightful three days along the journey. Worth coming back to again and again!
