Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): Horrible place - The hotel is run down, beat up. Bathroom had water all over the floor from leaking sink. Wifi could only be used in the lobby. No enough toiletries provided. Tv broken.
Don’t stay even if it’s the last hotel.
If I could negative stars, I so would
- Trip23248397285 (10/5): Life saver after missed flight! - Had to stay here after missing a flight!
Literally 5 minute walk from the airport.
The gentleman who owns the place was fantastic!
Helped us feel very welcome after a stressful day in the airport.
Provided us with a room for the night and a delicious Filipino breakfast in the morning.
The hotel is basic but perfect for a night stay before or after landing in Siargao.
- Agrita (10/5): - Everything was good, but there was no soap in the bathroom.
- Andrew (6/5): Good for early flights. - Ideal for getting to the airport but bed was hard and only a cotton sheet. Air conditioning was loud but that standard for the Philippines. Staff were great though very helpful. No food available anywhere near after a curtain time.
- CELIA (10/5): - Walking distance from airport nice place quiet breakfast was included but they have no other food options. There is some small food vendors at the airport only .
- Eric (10/5): - Very friendly
- Aijeleth Shahar (8/5): - Great place
- Gabriel (10/5): - One of the best hotel in Siargao and it is walking distance to the SIARGAO AIRPORT
- Doree (8/5): - Mimi at the reception was very friendly though a guy there did not even bother to help with my heavy bags but instead left. U have to ask for ur toiletries and water, breakfast served 7am which is late by most hotels i went to, and NO free wifi in the rooms. I even have to look for someone when I checked out and the vook took my keys for me. Very disappointed as this is a nice hotel nearest the airport.
- Marilou (10/5): - Very quiet and peaceful place for a group stay. Our suite was so spacious for 4 people with comfortable bathroom space. The dining facility is a great way to hang around. WiFi is accessible to the guest. Air-conditioning functioned well. Unparalleled hotel staff service.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We stayed for one night and it was an experience we would not repeat.
The staff was friendly and helpful, however the hotel itself has seen much better times.
The rooms had a pretty bad smell and the sheets seemed dirty. The beds were not comfortable at all and we had a lot of dead and alive bugs in our room. We didn't even think about using the pool since it looked really dirty.
We didn't have breakfast, since we left very early in the morning.
Both of us had a sleepless night due to the smell, noises and the bugs inside our room. We had cheaper and much better places on our trip in Siargao. For that price, the condition and the room are not acceptable.
- Grace (2/5): - The properly is advertised as having a restaurant but that is untrue. The person working at reception pointed us in the direction of the road where there was limited options. Got some packet noodles and asked if we could cook them - was directed to a filthy kitchen where the staff member proceeded to record me cooking them. The room was basic, but filled with ants and insects, they were ok everything. The curtains did not shut properly and in general the property felt quite unsafe. I would not recommend staying here.
- jleslies2015 (10/5): Give Bakhaw B&B another “look over”? - Clean & comfortable rooms Steps from main airport Must provide your WiFi connection Outdoor repellent Paper napkins/wet wipes Ability to operate motorbikes 🏍️ to run around the island Expect to pay entrance fees (to Cloud 9 etc) Be sure hotel’s pool is available
- edmX1612FU (10/5): Philippines 2020 - Walking distance from the airport. Nice size rooms. Breakfast was okay. Outstanding wait staff and front desk personnel. Not the place to book if you are into the nightlife and shopping. Only 30 minutes away from Magpupunko.
- L4048LEsophieh (6/5): One night stay - Across the road from the airport, breakfast is included but there is a wait for food and they don’t have many vegetarian options available. There also isn’t much to do around here or many other food option places. This place has WiFi but doesn’t work that well- worked better when we were in the reception. The pool didn’t look that clean and there were a lot of dogs running around and they weren’t that friendly.. also a lot of the airport pick up cars park at the hotel but apart from that the staff were friendly and the rooms were comfortable :)
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bathroom was small and the water was leaking from the shower to the wc because they were with the same level
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We’re free to do what we want to do and cook for our own food if we want. The staffs were very accommodating. It just we feel we’re in our own home.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It's clean but the front desk doesn't no knowledge in anything. If you asked them for information the only answer you will know that they are just new and doesn't know anything yet, worst they'll bill you extra for the food that was served. I don't recommend this place in your next vacation.
- Miguel (8/5): Plane Spotting - I choose the place cause it is really close to the airport becuase my initial plan is to spot the turbo propeller planes that lands daily at Sayak Airport. One of the staff went home early during my stay so I was informed that there will be no dinner, so I called the Manila office and they immidiately took action. Nonetheless, I was taken care of.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The receptionist was acommodating and
- Brian v (8/5): Decent place near Siargao Airport - Bed & Breakfast probably gives a misleading idea of Bakhaw, it's more like a motel or small hotel. Very convenient to the airport (just across the road) but nothing else nearby.
Room was in good condition and very comfortable, asked for a double but got a twin, not sure if this was a misunderstanding. Fairly big swimming pool is a nice bonus.
Restaurant has a reasonable menu, but the food takes ages to prepare and always arrives covered in cling wrap - at first I thought it must be cooked off-site, but then I saw a busy kitchen out the back.
- Peewee (4/5): - NO WIFI DURING ENTIRE 4 DAYS STAY. STAFF KEEPS PROMISING WIFI SOON
- JohnYa5 (8/5): We were not there by choice - We were getting ready to board our flight to Cebu and they announced that the flight was cancelled due to a storm. I asked at the airline desk where the nearest hotel was. It was the Bakhaw Bed and Breakfast that was only 100 meters away. . Due to rain I got a tricycle driver to take us there. It was a nice place that someone obviously put a lot of money into. It had a large pool and nice lobby and eating area. At first we could not find anyone there to help us. A couple of men who were groundskeepers found a maid that checked us in. It seemed like no one was staying there. Once a flight gets cancelled they get guests. The person made phone cals and staff arrived. Breakfast was provided and the food for other meals could be ordered. It took a while for meals are first but they were made from scratch and better that some we had at the resort we stayed in. Later that day and night the storm really hit with a lot of rain and wind. It was obvious that flights would not happen the next day. I had them take me to the airport to verify they were not operating. We had non refundable hotel rooms reservations in Cebu so we needed to verify that we could not get there. That worked out for us. They had a van there and they took us to the airport three times to get things worked out.
The grounds crew got the place all cleaned up after the mess that the storm left and the pool cleaned. The TV in our room did not work and the wifi was spotty. At times it worked in the reception area and dining are and other times not.
We stayed there two nights. By request the got our breakfast ready early the second day. The crew all waved goodby to us as we left.
I was happy to have a nice place to stay near the airport where we could get our meals.
- ellene_santos (4/5): Disappointing - My flight was cancelled and this wasnjust few meters away from the airport.
To be honest, for 1500 per nighy- the room is big. But it has a damp smell like it has not been occupied for a while. Shower was good though the water pools at thenside since the flooring is not even.
The major disappointment is the avalability of food. Close to none. You have to order ahead of time as they would have to buy the ingredients in the market (dinner). Food prepared for lunch are the same food served for breakfast (spam, longanisa or eggs). Water dispenser is soo dirty you can see the hardened dirt from the nozzle and makes you think twice if it is safe to drink.
Lastly - the mobile signal in the area is too weak that you do not have choice but to rely on their wifi connection - which is close to having no connection at all.
The place has a lot of potential. I just hope the owner would take a look at it and make necessary improvement.
- fynk2017 (8/5): Bakhaw Bed and Breakfast - My experience with this resort is superb.. customer service was really great the place although it's already old but it was clean and well-maintained and most of all it is near the airport, it was a pleasant experience.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - the staff were not Helpful in trying to change dates when they had rooms available.
- Maria rowena (8/5): Nice - So nice
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I wad surprised how good this place was considering the location was not near any touristy area.
- ramihawk (10/5): Love this place!! - I have been to the Bakhaw Bed & Breakfast many times, including staying there with students over multiple years now. It is clean, comfortable, and the staff will provide you with anything you need. The staff is super nice. Jhanna and the other staff have a way of winning you over. The beds are comfortable and the breakfast is whatever you want! They are opening a restaurant connected to the inn this year, so that should be pretty amazing, too. The grounds are nice and comfortable as well. It is quite a beautiful location and it is hard to believe it is right by the airport (don't worry you will never hear a plane). The staff will prepare breakfast for you each morning, giving you several great choices.
If there is a downside, it is that the wifi is pretty much nonexistent. That is a fairly major flair for some people, but I have heard that it is changing and all of Del Carmen will be connected soon. If that doesn't happen, it will still be o.k. You will be so pleased with the Bakhaw Bed & Breakfast that you won't want to engage with the outside world anyway.
- nanamakati (6/5): Charm helps. - The Bakhaw Hotel has a lush and interesting garden, although small.
There is spiral stairway leading up to a branch of a gargantuan tree.
The rooms are very modern but the bathroom design lacked practicality. In our room the shower head was clogged and the night table lamps could not be opened simultaneously because of lack of convenience outlets.
There were very few items available in the menu because the storm prevented any delivery from Surigao. However the ladies at the reception and restaurant were so efficient, charming and helpful. They more than made up for what the hotel lacked.
- 507dianap (10/5): An oasis of tranquility, peacefulness, and quality service - I recently stayed at this Inn for a business trip. I stayed there for approximately 10 days with 6 other colleagues. The physical environment was beautiful--with an Alice In Wonderland Feel. Accommodations are simple, but clean. The staff is personable, caring, and sweet. It almost feels as if you are staying with your favorite aunt and uncle! The breakfast and dinners are beyond description, pretty much the same feeling you get when your grandma cooks you your favorite dish. They served a variety of dishes, including international and Filipino dishes. They also offer laundry services. The only caveat is the internet service, which is very poor. Overall, I loved my stay here and would recommend it to anyone.
- haribon01 (8/5): Unexpected, a great base for exploring the western part of Siargao - 'Bakhaw' means 'mangrove' in the local language, and this small hotel is a great base for exploring the extensive mangroves of Del Carmen in the western part of Siargao. It's located just across the road from Sayak Airport which serves Siargao Island, but there's just one flight a day so don't worry about the noise from planes taking off and landing.
The rooms are quite new and well constructed, with good quality fixtures in the bathroom. The TV in our room was quite small, but they have an extensive cable TV channel selection via satellite. Housekeeping was top class, leaving the room very clean and even neatly folding or putting away our clothes and other items that had been lying around. What made this extra impressive was that the place was filled to capacity at the time with a corporate event. They have several types of rooms including family rooms that can accommodate four. They also have a small garden with several tables and chairs where one can lounge.
Del Carmen pier is a short drive away and from there one can explore the mangroves as well as some beautiful lagoons and white sand beaches.
