Guest Reviews
- Gordon (10/5): Very Happy and will consider the accommodation again on our next trip to Stellies - The team were friendly and helpful from start to finish. Thanks Q and Lesley. Breakfast was awesome. Was happy with everything.
- Diane (5/5): central, very nice breakfast, friendly staff but not value for money. - we had an awesome breakfast everyday. the bed was comfortable, aircon added heat as it was cold in Stellenbosch it is advertised as self catering, we had no kitchen utensils in the kitchen. NOTHING. The shower needs a door as the very small bathroom is soaked after a shower. I am a very small person and took great care not to splash to much but it still got very wet.
- viljoen (10/5): -
- Kathleen (10/5): - The breakfast and the friendly staff
- PM (8/5): -
- Anton (7/5): - The staff are lovely and honest. The breakfast muslin was homemade and delicious. Unfortunately the decor is very old and tired. The couch and curtains need a good wash but the bed linen was clean and comfortable enough.
The proximity to the main road Unfortunately made it noisy.
- Heinie (7/5): -
- Anika (10/5): -
- wolfgang (2/5): - Laut, ungepflegt, saumässiges Frühstück
- Heinrich (7/5): -
- Hensh (3/5): Poor value for the price. - Location was excellent. The room and facilities were pretty run down, with lots of maintenance neglected.
- Erika (4/5): - Poor condition. Stairs unsafe. Not safe and uncomfortable for older guests
- Jean-Marie (9/5): -
- Paddy (9/5): See What I did like above. Apologies for a rather mixed up response. - Apart from the comments below I was very satisfied Facilities, staff and food were excellent. My only two comments are that the stairs to get upstairs are not really for the ederly and the noise from the road passing is not great if you have the windows open - that is from my room which faces the road and traffic lights.
- Carol (8/5): Average - The service Breakfast was too limited and bed was squeeky
- Henriette (7/5): -
- Marcia (7/5): -
- LALIT (10/5): - Very good and cooperative staff
- Kevin (1/5): -
- Christelle (7/5): -
- Kyle (10/5): Great Allround experience!! - It’s location, staff ,service and facilities made go a lovely experience! We Are planning our next stay already!
- Billy (10/5): perfect - Lovely guest house, friendly staff, excellent quiet location. Good recommendations for restaurants. Nothing
- Jeanette (8/5): GREAT STAFF & GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY! - Our flight from Doha was delayed. Consequently, we arrived much later at the Guest House. James was waiting for us and made us feel so welcome, and we immediately felt at home. Our bed was wonderful and after traveling for 27 hours we slept like babies. Also, the breakfast we enjoyed the next morning was tasty and very good. Michael is a very good chef.
A huge thank you to Quellin who was always prepared to help us during our stay at The Boord. The staff at this establishment is outstanding! We were happy with everything.
- Jehan (7/5): -
- Lara (8/5): Heerlijk - Behulpzaam en vriendelijk personeel. Goede locatie. Het is goed dat ze aan het renoveren zijn.
- Gauri (8/5): Great for a short stay - Large spacious rooms with tea and coffee facilities.
Breakfast is home made
Staff are friendly nothing to mention
- Zane (1/5): Boord Guest House - ant infestation and very noisy - It's quite central. Breakfast staff very friendly Ant infestation, and we had ants all over our clothing and toiletries. The place had dead insects laying around and the floor had filth. The reception staff - while distracted by the nsws - eemed disinterested in offering us any kind of reimbursement. The place is very noisy, and we could hear our neighbour showering loudly before 7am. The cleaning staff cleaned our patio at 7am, making lots of noise moving chairs and tables and sweeping right outside.
- Johnathan (8/5): -
- Frik (10/5): -
- Victor (7/5): -
- Ariella (8/5): Friendly staff and good position - The staff at guest house is very friendly. Our room, Fynboos, was really nice and spacious.
We enjoyed our breakfast too. The guest house is close to town centre/university. Our room was closed to the road, so there was a bit of traffic noise in the morning, but it wasn’t that annoying.
- Cathryn (5/5): Unfortunately I don't think I will go back again. - The check-in process was quick and easy and Quillan was very helpful. My original booking was for the African Room but for some reason I was put into the Oak Room, which was right by the front door. It was therefore very noisy, as I was woken up by people entering and exiting the property during the night.
I placed my order for breakfast via Whatsapp, as requested on the Breakfast Menu in my room, but when I went to breakfast the next morning, I had to place my order all over again, which seemed to defeat the object of me sending it via Whatsapp. Unfortunatley the omlette was not great. It was thin and not very flavourful.
- Maria Imene (6/5): I. Felt like been cheated, when I charged for Uber to the university, Stellenbosch, 750 rand - Fair Request not fulfilled, eg requested for well done egg, but come out not as not well cooked.
- Jeanette (9/5): -
- Bianza (9/5): -
- KAREN (9/5): Great stay -
- Petra (9/5): We had a great stay here. Excellent location to explore the area. Very nice rooms and friendly staff - Very spacious and comfortable rooms. Excellent location. Nice breakfast The pool (small and not cleaned)
- Theresa (10/5): Short stay - I was warmly welcomed. Breakfast was lovely and made according to my request.
- Wilhelm (8/5): -
- Brian (7/5): TRULY HOME BUT AWAY - The prompt confirmation call immediately the booking was made .
The rooms are spacious . James - the concierge , chef and housekeeper is ever attentive. The staff compliment was inadequate to meet the needs of a fully booked place. The existing staff were overwhelmed .
- Sandra (8/5): Great location and pleasant staff - Great location and great to cool down in pool
- Nicholas (7/5): -
- Barbara (8/5): It was a pleasant and relaxing stay. - Quiet and safe location. Host was extremely helpfull with an earlier check-in for a urgent work call.
- Ratshidi (7/5): Ok - Functional. May require a lift for the disabled Convinience
- Petrus (6/5): -
- Jean pierre (7/5): - Pas grand chose Le cadre et l’éloignement
- Frans (9/5): Fantastic place and loctaion - Nice place, comfortable and huge rooms. Breakfast was made to order Everything was fine
- Elsmarie (4/5): As the bed was very uncomfotable and the traffic on the road was to load, we left after just one day - The staff was very friendly It is next to a very very busy road!
- gert (8/5): Good for business - Good value for money Out of town
- Tom (9/5): Relaxed & Laid back in Stellenbosch - Quiet area of Stellenbosch, yet close to all you wish to visit. Super friendly & helpful staff were there to assist at every turn - so well done. Room was large & opened out to a small garden which was a treat. The breakfast I had was yummy & to be recommended. Desk in the room. Even tho it wasn't a work trip, it's always great to have a desk.
Access is via bunch of different keys which can be complicated, especially in the dark - not a gripe, just an observation
- LaurenD (9/5): Love staying here and I will be back - Very central to what I required - I am a student at the Flight School and it really is helpful to have a guest house in close proximity that is well run, has space for me to make my own meals.
- sylvain (8/5): - Very good Bed is too much noise
- Marianne (7/5): -
- Neil (10/5): We had a lovely stay. The staff were excellent. Thank you Shawwaal, James, Rashid and Quillen - The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The guest house is in a quiet cul-de-sac with mountain views and conveniently located near to central Stellenbosch. N/A
- Sanjay (7/5): -
- Corinne (6/5): -
- Kim (9/5): Very accommodating staff and all round wonderful stay. - Breakfast lovely. Room very comfortable.
- Groenewald (10/5): Very comfortable - Great location friendly staff and spacious rooms Everything was great
- Karin (9/5): Superb -
- Floris (9/5): Lovely overnight stay - Lovely hosts. Comfortable bed. Great shower. Good breakfast
- Jackie (5/5): Clean your kitchen please, especially inside the drawers. Underwhelming. Poor breakfast offering. . Dirty bathrooms. - Bed linen clean
- David (7/5): Very comfortable ..... about a 20 minute walk into town. - Breakfast was great. Bedroom and lounge were spacious and comfy. Our sink area in our particular bathroom was very small ...... this was due to the large corner bath. Great if you want to bathe every day, but a bit more space at the sink would have been appreciated. Other rooms of course would be different.
- Jakobus (7/5): Good -
- Annemarie (8/5): Very good - We stayed in a family room. The room was very spacious and beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable. Also enjoyed a dip in the pool. The breakfast was delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The bathroom was small but adequate
- Anton (7/5): Good -
- Murphy (2/5): Unpleasant - The room we stayed in was very run down. A leak in the roof created a massive puddle in the corner. The bathroom window frames were totally shot. In addition the front door and bedroom door will simple locks which anyone could have pushed open. I did not feel safe. The room wasn’t clean although the bed was.
- Fossati (10/5): Pleasant friendly clean - Location clean friendly staff Nothing
- Alta (3/5): It was okay but not fabulous - The bed was comfortable. The place is near the Medi-Clinic Hospital. Room is spacious The breakfast wasn't up to standard, there was no fresh fruit or yohurt. We want to have it but not available. The staff should be more professional and wear uniform. The bathroom in the cupboard is also very small and it need some attention (basin cracked mirror damaged). Kitchen is not up to standard, I had to ask for milk for my tea. Rooms need iron board and iron
- Gemma (7/5): Very nice establishment, easy to find, clean and friendly staff. - Room was great, bedding clean and very friendly staff. Was very noisy with the main road being so close to the property unfortunately.
- Laura (7/5): Worth staying here for the location and price. - The staff are welcoming and helpful.
Very quiet.
Dog friendly! The room was nice but quite worn. There are loose screws in the bathroom and the blind holders.
Quite a lot of cobwebs in the corners.
- Blaine (8/5): Very good - Nice place, nice location and friendly staff. Bed slept well and the bedroom was spacious and comfortable. Very close to Stellenbosch Central and amenities. Had one day where the hot water didn’t work in the shower, and not a major issue but the shower not having a shower door had water splashing into the bathroom. Otherwise, everything was good.
- Madeleinvdberg (9/5): Great stay-over - Friendly staff, comfortable beds, great breakfast. Our room was above the kitchen area and unfortunately it was filled with "egg-frying" smoke from early morning.
- Laura (10/5): Great staff and good location, definitely recommend! - Location was great, close but not right in the busy area. Quiet safe street. The staff were absolutely fantastic, really helpful, friendly and thoughtful for everything we needed. Breakfast also very nice! Would definitely recommend.
- Richard (7/5): Good -
- Mark (8/5): Very good - A lot of thought and attention to detail and decoration has gone into the property. Very charming features and kind people.
- Louisa (3/5): The stadf were super friendly and their attitude is great. The property is very run down, which makes the staying there - Friendly staff The property is run down. We booked for 3 adults, but the bed that was available for one of the adults was a stretcher that was made up in the kitchen/livingspace.
- Deon (7/5): Good -
- Malyon (5/5): Passable -
- Christina (10/5): A perfect little guesthouse - Lovely guesthouse, good and tranquil location, very comfortable rooms, great bed,, linen and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good and lovely staff.
- William (7/5): A good option for a tranquil stay - Nice clean guest house. Friendly staff It’s a taxi ride from the centre of Stellenbosch
- Ian (9/5): Very comfortable and pleasant accommodation in a good neighbourhood - Breakfast was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful. Spacious room with balcony and outside breakfast area very "Balinese" with pool and fountain. Some of the maintenance could be better (door latches not working well, etc.)
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Heidi (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (9/5): great stay and will return - breakfast was great
- Gerhard (7/5): Good -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and helpful staff, very nice and clean and very comfy
- Marcus (9/5): Superb -

- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judie (7/5): Comfortable and clean. - The location was good. The breakfast was very nice. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. We would have liked drinking water to be available in the fridge and milk for tea and coffee. The rooms and kitchen could do with a bit of an upgrade. There was a bad drain smell in the bathroom.
- Mongezi (5/5): Not bad but I think management should consider hiring good cleaning staff. Bathroom had stuffy smell of pee. The air c - Easy to find The staircase wasn’t comfortable and a bit slippery
