Guest Reviews
- Joy (10/5): - Location is perfect! Clean rooms and friendly staff.
- Michelle (6/5): - I didn’t see one person who worked at the property my entire stay which I found odd. It smelled like mothballs. Walls were hollow. It was however super convenient and walkable to shopping and dining spots. Next time I’ll spring for a little nicer place.
- Elaine (10/5): - Near Everything
- Joe (10/5): - Very cozy rooms and staff was great
- linda ring (2/5): - I was so disappointed with this place it isn’t funny. Bare bones. Not even water. No I go to check out or internet. I was grumbled at. I had to drag my suitcase myself up and down the stairs. I had to share a bathroom. That wasn’t made clear. It ruined my vacation I had to break in the back first night cause front door was locked
- Anastasia (2/5): - Hotel is old and terrible bathroom with noisy ventilation. You can hear your neighbours every movement. There is no door men or staff who can help with luggage. No breakfast including but it’s said on the Expedia that breakfast will be provided. I don’t recommend to stay there for this amount of money it’s not worth.
- Jason (10/5): Beautiful gem in Nantucket - Absolute delight. Staying here, very comfortable, clean beautiful friendly. Fantastic accommodations. Would highly recommend. Not used to sharing a bathroom, but it worked out. OK. We’re very easy-going people. So we were fine. Would love to have been able to get into their restaurant. However, that didn’t work out. Maybe next time. Close to some beautiful shops and great restaurants. Walkable to just about anywhere or to the local bus shuttle. Walking distance to the ferry that can take you to Martha’s Vineyard or Hyannis.
- Diane (8/5): - As noted abov
- PETER (10/5): - If you want new and modern this Inn is not for you. I loved the Old charm. The beds were so comfortable. Room had a mini fridge, AC a and a fan. Shared bath was no issue at all. Staff was super nice. Great location. Would definitely stay here again.
- Maureen (8/5): - We were happy with the place in general. The bathroom was the reason for four stars, not 5. Clean and usuable but dates: the blow dryer could burn your head on its one setting and the y adjustable shower pinned you in a corner! The room was cute with plenty of storage.
- Michael (10/5): - Great Vacation!!
- Dan (10/5): - This quaint and tiny New England Inn/guesthouse sits atop one of the best fine dining restaurants in Nantucket and just steps from downtown, wharf and local points of interest. The staff is friendly and chill, the Inn is antique but super charming. The only point of caution is that the steep stairs (old fashioned colonial stairs with narrow treads) will be a challenge for people with difficulty walking or climbing stairs and not really suitable for little kids to manage on their own. I will absolutely book this same delightful venue next time I am on the island.
- lise (10/5): - Great historic house just in the edge of town, so quiet and walkable to everything. Clean, good hot water, comfortable beds.
- Lisa (10/5): - This is a very quaint, historic inn that is right in the center of Nantucket town and within walking distance to all local attractions.
The rooms are clean, comfortable, and in keeping with the period of the inn. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating and took care of our every needs, even letting me run a work meeting in a quiet corner of the restaurant.
I highly recommend the restaurant; the food is exquisite and was a highlight of our trip.
5 ⭐️
- Hana (6/5): - Very nice and helpful staff
- Judith (8/5): Nantucket stay 3 Hussey - This place was quaint and clean. The location was perfect for walking around town. Though it was small it was all my husband and I needed. The service was not the greatest… The first day was but then second and third not.(?)
- Joseph (6/5): Small AC, bad TV reception and rough towels - 1. We had a difficult time finding TV channels the guest house actually received. It made TV watching difficult.
2. The AC was far too small for a room of our size (#3, at 3 Hussey St). It was running day and night to keep the room comfortable. This was a waste of electricity.
3. The bad linen was soiled and we had to request that it be changed.
4. The bath towels felt like sandpaper.
5. Lindsey, the Maitre de at the restaurant, was not friendly. She could benefit from a customer service skills class for the hospitality industry workers
However, Ms. Faye and the housekeeping staff were very responsive to our requests and made every effort to make out visit comfortable and enjoyable. We have no complaints about these staff members. In fact they were commendable.
- Chris (6/5): - To like; quaintness, bedroom, convenience in town, cleanliness.
Disliked: shared bathroom (though it worked reasonably well in practice); rudimentary breakfast (though dinners were fine); few communal facilities.
Overall; good for a short stay by fit people (as we were).
- Susie (10/5): - Charming
- Daniel (10/5): - Very happy with the room, the price and the staff
- George (4/5): Go somewhere else!! - The bathroom wasn’t connected to the bedroom which the picture showed it was connected so we had to share a bathroom. The stairs to get to your room are way to steep. If you are an older couple, it will be a huge challenge. The room was too crowded also.
- Michele (10/5): - The location was fabulous; walking distance from the ferry.
- Nancy (6/5): Keep looking - If you were not on Nantucket, you would never stay here. Location was the only positive.
- Cheryl (10/5): - Perfect location, comfortable room & friendly staff. Enjoyed the continental breakfast each AM
- Suzanne (6/5): - The best thing is the INCREDIBLE location! However, rooms are very small and there is a shared bathroom with a very questionable lock. The wifi is extremely slow and there's no designated parking.
- Stephen (10/5): - Location, staff, cleanliness
- Susan (8/5): - It was my first air bnb and my first trip since Dec ‘19 (also Nantucket) I will totally come back to stay her! I was in Hussey House, not the Broad St location. An easy walkable location, never heard noises from other rooms, very comfortable.
My only complaint is the shower heads. Awful shower heads, but that’s kind of expected on cape & island rentals.
The staff was so nice and friendly, but never in your face or in the way.
Two thumbs up!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, Bistro was also excellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly staff and clean accommodations easy walk to town and ferry
- Verified traveler (4/5): You get what you pay for - Our check-in experience was non-traditional. There wasn’t much communication. When I walked into the house I immediately got hit with a musty smell with a slight odor of mothballs. Our room did not have A/C which was advertised. Luckily it wasn’t sweltering and we were comfortable with the two fans in the room. There’s no drinking water offered so I advise you bring your own unless you don’t mind water from the bathroom sink. The continental breakfast is not @ the Hussey guest house. You have to walk to the Languedoc. There you can grab coffee, tea, juice and a piece of a dessert bread. The TV in our room was missing the remote. Staff were able to fix the problem the next day. It wasn’t a big deal. We weren’t there to watch TV and they solved the problem. As far as cleanliness goes…. It was clean, except the carpet in our room. The bottoms of our feet were black from walking on it barefoot. When we woke up in the morning I had a sore throat and my friend had a stuffy nose, a red eye that was swollen. We think maybe there was mold in the carpet. We let staff know and they said they would clean it. We went out for a bit so they could shampoo it. We really have no clue if it was really done. The allergies continued throughout the stay. Ultimately, you get what you pay for. It’s at a low price to stay in Nantucket. If you’re looking for a place to stay to rest your head and do not have high standards you will be all set.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location.
- elaine (10/5): - Fabulous in town location. Clean comfortable and spacious room. Really enjoy my stays here.
- Michael (6/5): - No air conditioning. Staff friendly and kind. There were old discarded water bottles and other human trash under the beds. Tells us the carpets were never vacuumed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We stayed at the Hussey House which was in a fantastic location. It was very clean and the house keepers were fantastic. The interior is a bit dated and could use some updates, but hard to beat the convenience price.
- Kelsey (10/5): - So seamless! We arrived early and staff was able to store our bags until our room was ready. We didn’t stay in the room much, but when we did it was quiet and comfortable! Very friendly and the most perfect location
- Katherine (10/5): Consistently the best on the Island! - love the location, easy walk from the ferry. service in hotel and restaurant was excellent. could have had dinner there every night!
- Lydia (8/5): - So convenient! Easy walk through town, and from ferry.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - ON their website they say breakfast is included. It was not included and no adjustment made to the cost.
- elaine (10/5): Location location location - We stayed at Hussey & Although the Inn is dated, very old world feel it was comfortable & clean at a very appealing price for Nantucket. Location was fabulous. Only coffee in the AM in these Covid times which was a disappointment as the description still states breakfast included.
- Dean (10/5): Europe est - Great European style architecture
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff was helpful. Property is old but clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location is Excellent in Proximity to the shopping and restaurants!
The visit was in the midst of the Covid-19 lockdown which had many businesses completely shutdown
(non essential shopping)
and many of the restaurants werent interested in doing take out or exposing their employees.
The last night I was there, a staff member shared they were no longer accepting reservation and this made the point that the island community wanted to self isolate from the rest of the world.
- Caroline (8/5): - Love this historic home very quiet clean comfortable beds !
- Verified traveler (6/5): - My reservation was supposed to include a free breakfast very misleading
And just because it’s February doesn’t cut it
I’m a guest just like the vacationers that come in the summer now I have to go find a place that has breakfast and like always it’s raining here
- Edmund (8/5): - Tons of charm. Room small and cozy. Great location heart of downtown. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
- Jenny (10/5): Excellent Staff and location - Had to travel last minute to Nantucket for work... staff here was friendly, helpful and the cottage was clean and lovely. All you need and GREAT location - walkable to everything downtown and short drive to airport.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Quaint Nantucket accommodation - 4 Hussey is an amazing location. The rooms themselves are small but cute and your typical Nantucket decor. Unfortunately there were two things we could not get past - the uncomfortable beds and the shared bathroom that did not have ventilation. The staff was lovely and the house had everything you needed. Overall, if you’re comfortable with the bathroom scenario, this place is perfect for you.
- Joel (8/5): In the heart of Nantucket. - In the heart of Nantucket! Easy walking to great restaurants, the pier, downtown, etc. Very cozy and quaint with fantastic hospitality! It was a highlight of a much needed getaway.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The morning muffins and coffee were delicious and it was very quiet at no night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the location. Everything was perfect. Comfortable bed. Steep stairs.
- Eileen (10/5): - Perfect for our needs. And then some.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Beautiful Nantucket, but less than fabulous stay - The first room I was given had a toilet that was not functioning properly.
I was then transferred to the other hotel, which was supposed to be easy to find. But, it was difficult for me not knowing the streets.
My room was okay.
The shower was difficult to use. That is getting a temperature of the water that was not much too HOT or too cold.
The location was great!
I never saw the staff after arriving and that didn’t give me a feeling of hospitality. At other inns I have stayed the staff have been available and friendly.
Breakfast muffins were included. first morning there was a muffin available. Last morning there I needed to request the muffin from the staff person, who I had to wait for some time before she showed up at the receptionist area.
The price for the room was high and for the money, I doubt I would stay there again.
Y reason: the lack of hospitality and the toilet issue.
Changing rooms should not have been a part of my experience and the staff would not compensate me for this inconvenience.
The weather was rainy so I assume my wifi was erratic due to that
- Emily (8/5): Nantucket on a budget - Great location! Hotel was no frills-- as advertised. Small clean rooms and nice staff. No breakfast in the mornings which wasn't a big deal for us.
- Susan (8/5): - Unfortunately a problem came up and I was not able to stay here, the manager and staff were very helpful with my situation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great friendly spot - Had no idea what to expect, but was so pleasantly surprised. Super friendly and clean place. Would happily stay again. Shared bathrooms were super clean as well.
- Elizabeth (6/5): - I was disappointed that there wasn’t breakfast which was included in my reservation and itinerary.
