- Jonathan (8/5): -
- Craig (10/5): Great location and hosts. Warm and quiet. - Great location….easy walk to ski shuttle bus stop outside Lawsons
Easy walk to restaurants, truck food, and shops.
Good sized room, with ski and boots drying facility downstairs
Good breakfast
Quiet

- Erik (8/5): Winter wonderland! Best BAKERY in Hokkaido! Best melon bread, ever! - Location, location, location! Separate entrance. Wonderful surroundings, free parking on site, ski depot, the best Nisko bakery nearby. Perfect pow skiing in Niseko! Heating system could be improved. The bathroom was cold, the entrance and kitchen are quite small.
- Mullin (10/5): - Excellent location, very friendly staff and amazing bakery
- Driver (9/5): Fab hotel with great facilities - Small hotel in an excellent location for the slopes in Hirafu. Very bijou but all facilities covered including a washing machine and tumble dryer and cooking facilities. Not much storage
- John (10/5): Pension Close to Ski Field - Great location in Hirafu town a 15 minute walk from the Gondala or alternatively close to the free shuttle.
- Sean (7/5): Niseko is expensive - Decent location Water pressure, poor wifi, money was required for washing powder and washing machine, heaters ran out of gas, cold. Very expensive but everywhere is expensive, expected better facilities.
- Lucas (10/5): -
- Kristen (10/5): Pension Locomotion is an excellent choice for accommodations in the Niseko area! - We liked that we got breakfast every morning; it was clean and quiet; and the family who runs it are very friendly and accommodating. Nothing
- Gabriel (10/5): - The dogs and the friendliness The toilet paper
- DALE (8/5): I’d definitely stay here again! - Cute place that met all of our needs. The Okoshi host family is wonderful! The location is away from all the hustle and bustle, but is an easy 10–15 minute walk to the gondola, restaurants, and shops in town. The lounge area made it easy to meet and make friends with fellow travelers from around the world. That was my favorite amenity of the Pensión. Loved the bakery downstairs!! I lived off their coffee and fresh pastries! The steep stairs to get to the room & also in the room would be challenging for someone with limited mobility or strength.
- Justin (10/5): - Amenities, feeling of staying in someone's home, the hospitality and intention to detail.
- Guadalupe (10/5): We loved our stay here, will definitely be staying here again next time we’re in Niseko. - Basic breakfast was nice and location was excellent!
- John (9/5): A charming and comfortable family-owned pension - Such a charming little pension. Our room was warm and comfortable. The location was good: half a block from the shuttle bus stop, and a convenient stroll into town. The breakfast was different every day, and just enough to start us out on an active day on the slopes. We loved the lounge area and the common kitchenette with washer and dryer. . The family that runs the place was so sweet and kind. They picked us up at the Welcome Center when we arrived, and took us and our gear back there when we checked out. We felt cared for and welcomed the whole time. If you enjoy staying in a family atmosphere, there's nothing not to like about this place.
- Carolyn (9/5): - It was a good location and a good room configuration for our family, with the loft space for our teenagers. The owners were very nice and we enjoyed meeting other guests in the lounge space. The bed was a bit hard

- Lucinda (10/5): A great stay with lovely hosts. Walkable and easy to get the shuttle. -
- Nicolas (10/5): Great locations, very cute hotel, amazing bakery on the property and cozy room. - The location was amazing, 10 minute walk to the king gondola at Grand Hirafu. The room was cozy with its own heater. The breakfast was really nice and the bakery right out front was amazing (we opted for 1 breakfast in the hotel and the other mornings we got breakfast from the bakery). This hotel exceeded our expectations, the only thing we could have wanted was a maybe a smart tv so we could watch Netflix or something instead of the few channels they had, but we ended up spending most of our time skiing and going out for dinner so it was actually nice to unplug for a few days.
- Nancy (10/5): Lovely friendly hosts and great location - Ohkoshi san, our host was lovely! He picked us up and dropped us off at the welcome centre which was greatly appreciated. The pension was very clean, quiet and had super comfortable beds and great heating. The shuttle bus stop and many food trucks were nearby.
- Orit (8/5): Thank you for having us. - Location, close to slopes, bakery, Lawsons. No living area
- Scott (10/5): -
- Ana (9/5): Genuine Japanese family atmosphere, we loved it! 🥰 - Very genuine Japanese familiar atmosphere, comfortable simple room that makes you feel like home. Excellent breakfast before skiing served by the owner. Shower was a little bit poor, no pressure.
- Sarah (9/5): Cozy stay for ski trip to Niseko - The room and beds were comfy. The whole vibe of the place was cozy and without frills. Perfect for a ski vacation. Nothing
- chua (7/5): A small 2 bedroom Airbnb style apartment. Prefer a hotel room next time. - Value for money. Convenient location close to Lawson supermarket and not too far from the city centre and gondola base. Breakfast at Yen 1800/person was expensive and not worthwhile. Better off to buy some bread from Lawson.
- Kate (10/5): Comfortable, cosy and hospitable! - Our hosts were incredibly kind and friendly. Delicious breakfast every morning. The beds were very comfortable and it was nice having a separate room to relax in and do laundry, plus a delicious bakery right outside the front door! Highly recommend Pension Locomotion. It’s possibly on the farer side from the slopes - about a 15 minute walk from the ski lifts, but this wasn’t much of a problem for us as it’s also a close walk to supermarkets and the lovely restaurants and bars of Grand Hirafu.
- Laura (9/5): Superb - Loved the property, room was very cosy and close to snow fields.
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional - Awesome location, friendly staff and great facilities
- Xiao (10/5): Amazing cozy getaway in Hirafu - Location was a little far from the dot base / ski lifts, but the accomodation was overall a pleasant experience and very well furnished and clean with everything you need! The host was hospitable and kind as well, even going out of his way to fetch us to the welcome centre as we had heavy luggages and no car. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a place at grand hirafu! It was also very conveniently located near the shuttle bus stop and the Lawson mart. -
- Ed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Megan (7/5): Cosy and comfy stay within walking distance to the Niseko slopes. - The property is really well located for the slopes (you can walk in 10-15mins) and for the restaurants and bars. The owners are lovely and very welcoming. The place has a great cosy and comfy feel to it. For the price we would have expected breakfast (or at least coffee/tea) to have been included/ provided. We also had ants in our room (likely escaping the winter cold for heat) but the owners did clean our room promptly when we told them about it. Bits of the property could do with some TLC.
- Minette (8/5): Very good -
- Belinda (10/5): Excellent stay! - We had a 3 bedroom loft room, which fit two downstairs and one person upstairs. Kitchen/laundry area was great with a microwave and fridge and washer/ dryer. Walk to King gondola was only 15 mins or catch free shuttle just at bottom of street. The owner was very kind- driving us to and from welcome centre. Very quiet place and good value for money!
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yao (10/5): Exceptional - The owner couple were super helpful and kind. They accommodated our requests really well. The location is super. Everything is within walking distance even the hirafu resort.
- Hing (7/5): Good -
- Lance (9/5): Great stay and location in Niseko - Awesome location in the middle of Hirafu area of Niseko. Many shops and restaurants within 5-10 walking distance. The room was great and spacious due to an adjoining kitchen area the also had a washing machine for clothing. Very clean and nice staff. Would stay again This room we booked was on the side of the main house so had to walk up and over a large mound of snow to get to the room which could be slippery but not a deal breaker. Other than that no complaints
- Mi (10/5): Beautiful charming hotel no frills - Clean and well maintained family run hotel Wish they serve japanese breakfast instead continental breakfast
- Joe (9/5): Superb -
- Albert (10/5): Exceptional - Great value for money to be within range of the slopes. We had our own flat on the side of the building that was great for 5 people. Plenty of area to leave ski’s and boards.
Was about a 10-15 min walk to the ski lift which was no issue for our group.
- Oliver (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vitor (9/5): Superb -
- Vanessa (10/5): Exceptional - Great location. Short walk to the slopes and near many restaurants and food trucks. Clean and well equipped rooms and owners/staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Kathleen (9/5): Superb -
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional - Would be nice to have a small heated room to dry ski boots
- Zachary (10/5): - Would visit again. Feels like home at a fraction of the price of neighboring hotels.
- Scott (7/5): Good -
- Stephanie (7/5): Good -
- Kelsey (10/5): - This is such a perfect place to stay! It's so clean and well designed (there's a dedicated door to the basement to store wet/snowy gear and a communal kitchen on the top floor 🙂). I found it extremely convenient staying here while snowboarding at Niseko.
The owners were so kind and accommodating as well. They stored our luggage here prior to our arrival and stored it for us at the end of our stay which allowed us to get one more day of snowboarding in.
As a heads up to others staying, the owners were unable to pick us up nor drop us off in Kutchan when we arrived/left, so make sure to arrange rides for yourselves when you come here because commuting down to Kutchan can be very difficult!
I would definitely stay again! (But I would book a taxi 5 days in advance)
- Ching (10/5): Exceptional -
- Magnus (8/5): Delight - The vibe the jazz played in the dining room was great, so was the manager.
- Hayley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Esther (10/5): Loved every moment, thank you so much for having us. - We arrived quite late, it was snowing and we were really cold (but loving it!). We stepped inside the house and it was everything we needed and more! It was so beautifully warm, our room was really cosy and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was substantial and sustained us for the whole day! Staff were really attentive and friendly. It was a really memorable and special experience for us, we highly recommend and would love stay there again one day.
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Lars (8/5): Very good with excellent powder skiing - Great location and very friendly host.
Very good breakfast.
- Addison (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yufei (10/5): Exceptional - This hotel was great and the owners were so kind and even offered to drop us off to the Hirafu welcome centre to catch our bus in the early morning. Me and my friend had an amazing time staying here on our ski trip. Would definitely come back!
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- P (10/5): Was very relaxing and cozy especially when it’s really cold outside the place was very warm and homey vibe - Breakfast was really nice and the cozy feel of the place We liked everything about the place
- Ekaterina (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (8/5): Very grateful for being picked up and dropped off at the bus stop. Would definitely stay there again. - Great location As we skied in late March, there was no warm room to dry our boots. Had to take them upstairs to dry out. Sheets weren’t changed on a regular basis and having to ask for toilet paper every couple of days was a bit much.
- Desiree (9/5): Superb -
- Valerie (9/5): Superb - Clean and cosy
- Fan (10/5): Overall it’s pretty good - Clean and comfort room, a host picked us up even we got into NISEKO pretty late with our bus ride
- Bolormaa (9/5): Nice and cozy place to stay - Well located, close to the grand hirafu gondola.
- Helen (9/5): Great! - Beds are fantastically comfortable and warm. Our room had a little mezzanine area, which was great for storing our stuff and stretching.we could use the breakfast/ dining area to get a bit of work done, and also use the ‘kitchen’/family room, e which is Sunny and has a nice outlook, so it feels not at all crowded. The host Igs also extremely friendly and helpful. Parking is super convenient. Has a ski room with a bench for waxing ski gear, and some tools, iron etc. Occasionally had problems with the hot water.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Good location , great price
- Karen (9/5): The owners were so friendly and nice. It felt like living at home. - Felt like being at home, it was quiet, close the ski resort I didn’t have soap in my room.
- Kwok (9/5): An enjoyable stay and awesome time at Niseko - Nice host, good location and great value Nil
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Evgenia (9/5): Warm, cosy and very well looked after - Super comfortable bed and ample space for the clothes. Also we liked the communal seating area with large bay windows, we spend a lot of time there. The lodge is located on the outskirts of the village, but we actually preferred that, seeing how crowded Niseko has become. Lawsons is just across the street, and a couple of nice restaurants right next door. Not cheap. Also breakfast wasn’t included and would cost us 1500 yen extra per person. We opted for Lawsons food.
Also there was no coffee supplied for the guests, and all the toiletries had to be purchased from the vending machine. Convenient, without a doubt, but for nearly $300 per night I feel some basics should have been included.
- Brett (9/5): Great location - Great location and premises.
Room was a good size , clean and comfortable. Good little heater kept the temperature perfect and easy to adjust.
The host Akihiro was great. The toilet had a basin in the top of it, the tap came on automatically with any flush and ran on for too long. No frige in the room.
- Guyett (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jen (10/5): Perfect location and vibe and great value for money, - Lovely hosts and clientele. Parking available and an easy walk to bars, restaurants and the Gondola. a bit short on cooking facilities
- Tammy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - Great place, traditional which was good experience. Close to everything.
- Qutbi (8/5): It was great place to stay - Location, cozy place, room size just nice Amenities
- Raffaello (10/5): Incredible place to stay, it feels being guest of a traditional Japanese family, you can ski back from the resort straig - It feels being at home
- Yidan (9/5): Great pension choice next to Hirafu - The location is perfect, 15min walk from Hirafu Gondola. The room is a cozy loft with everything we need. The hosts are also very friendly and helpful. The room is small, if we open up the suitcases, will only have very limited spaces to move around.
If handwash soap or gel can be provided, it would be great.
- Jingwen (10/5): Exceptional - Super worth for the money, good location and nice service, will definitely come back again! NA
- Michel (10/5): Amazing - Ohkoshi-san is the best host you can ever ask for. He is so kind. Thank you so much Nothing
- Allan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wai Kin (10/5): Comfortable place to stay and for skiing - Not too far from the main streets. I sometimes go to hirafu ski area on foot.
Free shuttle buses at lawson (4minutes on foot), 1 stop to hirafu gondola.
Almost perfect for skiing and budget stay.
- Cynthia (10/5): Pension Locomotion was such a lovely place to stay for our trip to Niseko. Ohkoshi was so lovely and accomodating, helpe - Very cosy! Across the road from the best restaurant in Niseko!
- Masatoshi (8/5): Good choice for short stay. - Nice location No refrigerator in the room.
- Suphakit (8/5): Very good - Really nice rooms, very intresting accommodation with lots of trophies and scaled trains, The owner is a really kind person. The only issue I had is that there wasnt a bidget in the toilet.
- Des (9/5): Excellent digs for a ski trip - Okashi-san is an exemplary host, kind, and smiling. Each day he happily shuttled us to and from the slopes with The Beatles seemingly on loop in the car.
Our room was bigger than expected from the photos and included a mezzanine space which we used for storage. The bedroom and en-suite were simple but perfectly comfortable for our needs.
The guest kitchen/living room is a nice space and perfect if you want to prepare something simple at home rather than eat out. The washer/dryer is a nice touch if you're staying longer.
The breakfast was simple but lovely. Small selection of cereals, bread, pastries with a hot dish (typically eggs + meat). A minor quibble but the provided towels (1 small bath + 1 hand per person) are only replaced on request after 5 days. We made do just fine but I'd probably pack a bath towel when staying again.
- Krismcc (10/5): Definitely one of the best options for snow trips to Hirafu. - Pension Locomotion was amazing! It is very comfortable and a lot of care is taken to treat guests individually. I found the breakfast excellent and it was prepared only when each guest was ready. The staff are helpful and caring. We arrived by a bus to the main stop in the city and were prepared to walk to Locomotion but they came and picked us up anyway.
It is also well located to the slopes of Hirafu. We could walk to the chairlifts each day. I would recommend the walk for snowboarders or skiiers with normal shoes and hire a locker at the mountain for the day to change to ski boots (cheap lockers). However, there is also the free Hirafu shuttle just nearby Locomotion so this is also an option. n/a - everything was good.
- Emeline (10/5): Exceptional - very nice staff
peaceful place
delicious breakfast
the complementary ride to the slopes morning and afternoon is very helpful!
- Giulio (9/5): Superb -
- Anthony (10/5): Perfect - excellent
- Lachlan (9/5): Superb -
- Claudio (10/5): Exceptional - The location was close to shops and walking distance to ski lifts, friendly host.
- Drew (10/5): Great value! - Good value for money. The room was very comfortable with your own bathroom. Loved the breakfast and the owner kindly drove us to Hirafu each morning as the shuttle bus had stopped running.
- Anilcan (9/5): Warm and welcoming stay - The host is very helpful and friendly. It felt like coming to a very warm and welcoming home. The room was a comfortable size and the breakfast was good with a different menu each day. Would definitely recommend staying here! /
