Guest Reviews
- Shaw (6/5): - No Breakfast Close to everything, the staff were very nice and took care of things when asked.
Dave's Bar and grill was excellent.
- Matthew (1/5): - Nothing Extremely dirty room upon check in.
- Lauren (1/5): One word- horrendous - The check in guy was very nice This property was absolutely disgusting. There was a rag sitting outside with an unknown rust colored substance on it, that I assume was blood. When we walked in the room we were immediately hit was a mildew smell. I cannot believe we even made it through the night in this place. Everything felt sticky, I could believe they didn’t even wash the sheets. The pillows were so stained. Don’t even get me started on the bathroom. Mold surrounding the sink, beard clippings everywhere from whoever stayed before us, fruit flies coming out from the drain, dead fruit flies stuck in soap that wouldn’t stop coming out of the shower soap dispenser. The water couldn’t even get warm to rinse that out so no showers. I would be shocked if I didn’t get some sort of disease from this place. We left as soon as the sun was up and I will never return.
- Emmanuel (1/5): - Nada
- Laura (2/5): - We went for a football game. Couldn’t check in until after the game. Witness someone snorting a line off the dash of their dashboard in the parking lot. The room was horrible. Blood on bathroom walls, mold around tub, cigarette burns in bed, stains on sofa, soda spilt in the fridge, finger prints all on the window looking outside and hair stuck on the walls in the living area
- Brian (2/5): Horrible!!! - The desk person was friendly but the room was atrocious. There was animal poop mashed into the floor, the bathroom mirror was broken with half of it gone, both of the rooms tvs were not working. One didnt even have an outlet to plug it into and one didnt work at all. All of the bed sheets were yellowed and stained. The rooms couch was ripped and destroyed. Overall I would not only never stay at this specific hotel ever again, but I will never stay at a Red Roof Inn ever again for the rest of my life. It was that bad.
- Cornelius (6/5): - It’ll do for a game day trip
- william (4/5): - Convenient location
- Keven (4/5): - Air conditioner did not work. Old urine left in bathroom. Boot prints on covers of bed.
- Jennifer (2/5): - Please do not stay here. Drive to West Point or Columbus if it’s the only option left in Starkville. This was the filthiest hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Our room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a decade. Toilet had a ring in the bowl and it wasn’t bolted to the floor. Dust/dirt/grime/who-knows-what clung to all surfaces, including the soap dispenser, which was empty. Coffee maker covered in filth, but here was no coffee available, so that worked out. Towels were stained. Roach was wandering around the room. Seriously. Do not spend your money here. A one-star rating feels generous.
- hillary (4/5): - Staff was very nice but for the price of the room and pictures online-it wasn’t worth it. Door wouldn’t lock, paint was peeling, stains on the walls and I had to wipe down all the furniture because it hadn’t been cleaned. Bedding appeared clean. For the price and condition, we won’t be staying there again.
- SHELLI (2/5): - WILL NEVER GO BACK
- Shawn (2/5): Good luck - Booked for 8 days, locked out of room on day 7 had to pay for yet another night, roaches in cabinets and bathroom, house keeping is just trash pick up
- Ziba (2/5): - The staff was very nice. I spoke to a front desk person that was very professional. And at check in we spoke to another employee, again very nice. The room 203 however was a whole other story. It was horrible. It was dirty all over. Meaning walls, floors, surface tops, tv had been cleaned it looked with a dirty rag or something. Not a single thing had been wiped down to be clean. There were stains, we don’t know exactly what, on side tables, furniture (chair and couch), & comforters. The sheets themselves we clean looking. The bottom of the door frame had been chewed on by a dog and in same door way there was a change in flooring and that entire door way had no transition piece..so another material. Toilet seemed clean but countertop was definitely dirty as well. I cleaned it and my Clorox wipe was brown. The window sills, door itself inside the room all dirty dirty dirty. We did go speak to the front desk and he was understanding and we got our deposit refunded and then I dealt with Expedia and again I was refunded. This is not a kind of room that should exist in America.
- Wyatt (2/5): - Absolutely hands-down the worst place I’ve ever been in my entire entire life. I’d rather somebody pay me to sleep in a garbage can.. these people took my money . When my brother went to check in late night for a work trip .. they did not accept MY ID TO GET IN!!!!!!!!!!!!! He had to sleep in a truck !!! I will continually leave bad reviews WEEKLY!!! No refund
- Steven (2/5): - Hotel property was in close proximity to university but property and rooms were below standard and I would not recommend especially as they charge good money to stay there
- Audrey (2/5): - I moved rooms to begin with due to feeling unsafe with the people in the area by my first room. The first room was worse than my final room. My final room had many bugs in the room and bathroom. Stains on sheets, towels and walls. Black mold on the ceiling and on shower curtain. Hole in the wall. Absolutely disgusting overall. Not sure how they pass any health inspections. Do not stay here.
- David (2/5): - Dirty, run down
Probably should be demolished
- Breianna (2/5): Worst hotel stay ever. - The only thing I liked was the convenience of the location. The room was nasty and not cleaned, the toilet leaked profusely after flushing and water ran out into the floor, the doors lock was broken, holes and nastiness all over the walls. All around, having paid $279 plus my $100 deposit that I did not receive back was a huge waste of money. Almost $400 for one room for one night should have been better than what it was. I’ve seen Motel 6s that looked better.
- Andres (1/5): We went to a football game and we had no other option that to stay there we paid $300 for the night and it was the worst - Worse experience in my life. There were roaches everywhere. Location
- Grayson (2/5): - So dirty, bugs in the bed and all over room, lights didn’t work, air was out. Do not stay here
- Curtis (6/5): - Atmosphere was nice and hotel staff friendly.
- Melissa (4/5): - Not clean, holes and stains on towels.
- Jake (2/5): - The worst room we’ve ever stayed in. Comforter was dirty with stains and grime all over it. Sheets smelled terrible like they hadn’t been washed. There were stains of sorts all over the walls and doors. Dead bugs on the floors. Black mold in the bathroom. Ceiling was falling in from water damage. Absolutely terrible room that cost just under $300.
- Jason (6/5): -
- Nazdric (1/5): Bad - Very unclean didn't stay the fourth day didn't get my money back Didn't like nothing about your hotel
- Ashlyn (2/5): DON’T STAY - i didnt stay there when i arrived mexicans where outside partying with loud music n there were stains on the bed n couch so i left & they wouldn’t refund me n he asked for $100 as a deposit when i arrived
- Janet (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jamie (4/5): Kinda Gross - The lady at check in was super friendly and quick so I felt better about the appearance after that, but when I arrived to my room, it was rough. The musty smell was hard at first, there were quite a few flies (probably because 2 large trash cans are lining the rooms outside about every other room & full) & trash was visible around the grounds. Our room had a gross stained floor, stains on the walls and generally just gross vibes. I do say the bed was nice and firm (PLUS) but no working TVs!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed - We’ve stayed here before and it was fine, but this time the A/C didn’t work, there was no WiFi, the bed was hard and the floor was dirty.
- Johnny (2/5): - I had a reservation but when we walked in the room….it smelled like sewage, mold mildew was on back of sofa (we moved it to try to allow more cool air to escape), door facing is nasty, air conditioner was filthy. Amazingly the room was neat and bed was good however, the pillows under the pillow cases were badly used and yellow. The bathroom was clean. The manager refunded our money and we found another motel. It’s a sketchy area and nasty outside the door.
- Anthony (2/5): Rather sleep on a park bench - So Bad! Smells like urine & Black & Milds. Broken glass all over the parking lot, outdoor common area trashed. Over flowing garbage cans, stained sheets, no breakfast, dirty stained furniture. Dangerous, health hazard . So damn BAD! I know there are cheap motels but the pics in the add are NOT representative!!!
- Mildred (2/5): - No soap,no phone,no WiFi,iffy neighborhood.unsafe bathtub, no handler no skid mat, very slippery.
Will never go to another Red Roof.$90 for bad experience!
- missmagnoliamom (2/5): Don’t do it. - This motel looks ok in pictures but that’s deceiving. We stayed here for Super Bulldog Weekend and was disgusted by what we experienced. It was dirty and the smell was awful. The smell was so bad that our clothes absorbed it and my CPAP machine carried the smell home with us. Our first night we killed bugs. The couch was so disgusting that we wouldn’t even sit our luggage on it. And there were holes in the bathroom that our teen plugged with toilet paper before getting in the shower. This was one of the most disappointing choices we have made on a trip.
- Sherry (2/5): - This was one of the nastiest motels weve ever paid good money for. I’m surprised it didn’t have a vibrating bed. The smell in our room was so bad, it infiltrated our clothing. My CPAP filtered the air and I took it home and it had the same smell in it. I had to clean it thoroughly and replace the filters just from staying here. There were holes in the walls with bugs. There’s nothing redeeming about this experience.
- Austin (4/5): - Roaches
- Claudia (2/5): - This hotel is horrific. Please don’t stay here. There are dangerous people lurking in the corners, even the front desk locks their reception door for fear of attack. The rooms are uninhabitable. Everything is old, dated and unappealing. The bathroom was worse. Stained tub, shower curtain and towels. The front door has no chain in place and the lock was so weak a single thud from the outside would break it down. The neighbourhood is so noisy. There were people having a barbecue right in front of the rooms at past 12 midnight and making loud noises. I had to leave I couldn’t stay. I can’t emphasize enough please do not stay here. I’m an avid traveller who hardly leaves reviews but I feel duty bound to let my fellow travellers know about how bad and unsafe this place is. It should be shut down.
- Elizabeth (2/5): Very poor -
- Jray77 (7/5): Good -
- Wilson a (2/5): - Mal servicio
- Mark (2/5): - Possibly the dirtiest room I have ever booked
- Wesley (6/5): - No towel in room, no shower curtain
- Rebecca (1/5): These rooms should charge by the hour - Awful doesn’t cover it.
- Alyssa (4/5): - So unsafe we were not able to stay. Front desk was very unhelpful and we ended up leaving after he refused to help us and or move our room. Couch was untouchable and sheets looked like they hadn’t been washed, just remade. Stains everywhere and disgusting.
- Corey (10/5): - Daves
- Cheri (2/5): - The toilet hasn’t been cleaned in I don’t know how long.
- Chiana (2/5): - The walls were dirty. The front office is renovated and clean, but the rooms are not well kept. The tub was even dirty looking
- James (2/5): - This property should be shut down! We couldnt even stay here,it left us in a bind because all
of the motels in Starksville were booked! This place was filthy, unkept, had roaches, dirty beds and not safe at all!! Nothing like the pictures! Don't waste your time and money here!
- William (10/5): - Convenient and close to the dark horse
- SARA BETH (6/5): - The lady was nice at check in/check out. When I got to the room there was a strong musty smell of smoke and a couch that may have been a crime scene. There were no cushions on it. It looked like it should be in the dumpster, which was conveniently located by the stairwell.
- Christopher (2/5): - Awful
- Steven (1/5): Bad -
- Logan (2/5): Do NOT recommend!!!! - This was possibly the worst experience I have ever had. We arrived, and the lobby smelled bad. We got our key, but when we got to our room, the room was open and the lock was noticeably broken. The room had not been cleaned from the previous guests, trash was everywhere, and the bed wasn’t made. We told the check in clerk, and she called someone. I couldn’t understand their conversation. First she said they had no more rooms for our preferences. When I asked if I could have a refund, she talked to the person on the phone and then they suddenly had a room we could use. Apparently it was a “suite”. When we went to that room, it was so beat up and nasty. The furniture was gross and dirty. There were smears of who knows what on the walls. The bathroom was dirty. There was painters tape holding parts of the floor together. I felt dirty just walking into the room. We decided not to stay and had to make last minute arrangements for a place to stay. We received the “security deposit back” that they charged us once we had arrived to assure we didn’t mess up anything, but did not receive a refund for the room even though the conditions were poor and unacceptable. I have never left a review like this, and I’m typically a big people pleaser, but this place was next level awful.
- Saaidi (1/5): The worst, will NOT BE BACK - Didn’t like anything about it, room was trash, the area is loud, the lock on the door was broken & the staff was rude. Room was trash, the area is loud, the lock on the door was broken & the staff was rude. Def not worth the price!! They need to renovate before they even continue doing business. $100 rooms when they need to be $30, will never come back!
- Julia (2/5): Spend a few more dollars for a better place - I had requested a handicap room when I got there the person said they didn’t have any. I can’t get in and out of a tub so I had to wash my hair in the sink and do a wash off bath. Walls and door were dirty— like finger and hand smear. all it takes is a little soap and water. At least it was quiet and the bed was clean and fairly comfortable. But I won’t stay there again.
- Candis (5/5): Never again! - Only thing I liked about this place was being with my guy. I didn't like the price nor $100 deposit for ONE night. I had to clean the bathroom, sink, doorknobs, and walls myself. I had to take the quickest shower of my life because the water was backing up and I wore shower shoes although I'd cleaned it the best I could.
- Melissa (10/5): - The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only thing I can complain about is that the room/s near me had loud music playing but they did turn it off around 11PM. That's not the hotel's fault though.
- Jonathan (4/5): Don't waste your money - not much to like the picture on the site is not as it showed when I arrived room way very small paint on walls pealing bad dirty walls beds need to be upgraded not all the lights worked in my room shower heads loose in wall. when u see a hotel with a two or three star don't attempt to try it out it is what it's rated. and the nerve to charge a $100 deposit for what for what.
- Anthony (2/5): - Mold in room, door has big gap so did not seal tight, tub leaked and was stained, walls dirty and brown. Do not stay here!!!
- Amber (1/5): Worst stay in any place I have ever been. Absolutely will never stay at this establishment again. - That it was close to where I needed to be. Staff was not helpful. They did not know how to get into housecleaning when we needed new towels because the ones provided were dirty.
- Jaylon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amy (10/5): - Air didnt work
- Freudenburg (5/5): Passable -
- Kirk (4/5): - This property is in terrible shape. I can’t believe they have not lost their franchise.
- Linda (1/5): Disgusting and horrible - Cleaner rooms
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Booked a suite, the room was dirty & saw roaches in the room, I asked to be moved to another room was told their were no suites available so I had to go to standard double room & was not offered any refund or compensation for lower room
- Catherine (4/5): - I had four kids and the two television was not working at all
- Mary (10/5): - Stay here for MSU games
- Lindsay (2/5): - I was going to bulldog bash and this hotel was within one mile of the event.
The pictures looked pretty good. I booked one of the nicer rooms.
I was completely disgusted when I walked into this room. There was mold so bad it was growing across the glass. The couch was covered in disgusting stains, the door had clearly been kicked down in the past and the bolt lock was never repaired. The walls have never been wiped down, the smoke alarm didn’t have a battery in it.
I went to the front step and said I couldn’t stay in that room as I am allergic to mold.
I was given another room and without the same amount of mold and my family and I went to dollar general and bought cleaning supplies to scrub the room.
If you are looking for a place close to Starkville Main Street and you don’t mind paying $100 dollars a night plus a $100 deposit and scrubbing your hotel room before staying this place is for you.
Remember to bring a sheet you can throw away for a couch cover.
- Allison (5/5): Decent room, need to work on tvs (one had no remote and the other wouldn’t connect to DirecTV) and having unstained bed - Close to everything we needed for the wedding we were in town for. The bar/night club being in the same parking lot caused parking issues and made for an uncomfortable environment with kids.
- Kelly (2/5): - The room was nasty. It had something black all over the ceiling, stains on the walls, stains on the towels & wash clothes, dirt all over the floor. After i took a showr, i wet my towel and mopped the floor so i could walk on it. The towel looked like i played in the mud it was so nasty. I didnt stay my 2nd night. I drove 9 hrs home because it was so nasty.
- Thomas (1/5): Terrible I would not want criminals to stay here much less hardworking people. Shut this place down. - The beds had bed bugs in them, the staff tried to give me a replacement room and it had blood on the bed. I would not allow anyone to stay here.
- Amanda (1/5): Location convenient for our purpose of the visit. Hotel needs upgrade or to be blocked. - Location This room was not in rental condition. There were dirty spreads; dirty pillows on the bed. The ceiling in the bathroom had water damage and had debris falling into the bathtub drain. The door to the hotel room was not safe. Could see day light at the bottom of where the door met the threshold. Tv wasn’t working; had lady at check in come to our room. I shared all of this with her; all she said was the place was “safe” and they were scheduled for renovation soon.
I would like a refund or something. I had to strip the blankets. Sleep in long sleeves and we left very early the morning of departure because this place was unsettling and disgusting. Have pictures. Please email me.
- Jackie (4/5): - Not updated. Staff not friendly upon checkin.
- Joshua (3/5): Poor - The sheets looked clean. It was very close to the concert we were going too. The room was not clean. The ac barley worked. You could see daylight around the door. Did not feel very safe.
- Richard (10/5): - It was ok for the price
- Karen (7/5): Good - It was a good price and the location is great The ice machine didn’t work (also takes money - but that’s understandable since it’s outside a motel). Wasn’t the cleanest - but there’s a lot of dust in the area, so not surprising.
- William (10/5): - The location is great and the staff are friendly and helpful.
- Randy (2/5): - This is most likely the worst hotel I've ever stayed at especially for the price. The rooms were filthy, stains on the bed and couch, piles of dirt and hair in the floor, the door did not have a safety lock, walls were dirty with paint chipped off all over and at least 1 roach in the bathroom. Ive been to much cheaper hotels that were cleaner and better taken care of. This place is more like a place you take or you could find a lady of the night. JUST HORRIBLE AND NASTY
- DIANNE (2/5): - The walls had so much untouchable gunk on them it was horrifying!
Sheets fridge toilet all were filthy
- Jeffrey (4/5): - Definitely needs more attention to the inferior walls ect.
- Denise (2/5): - It was very nasty the room was gross
- Verified traveler (2/5): Gross - GROSS!!! It was horrible. Nasty. Didn't feel safe. Cant believe I stayed the 8 hours I did. Never, ever stay here.
- Verified traveler (2/5): DISGUSTING DISGUSTING DISGUSTING!! BED BUGS!! - This place was disgusting we ended up getting a place to stay elsewhere. Rooms were dirty, had bed bugs, the property was dirty and trash overflowing. When we asked for a refund we were told they couldn’t accommodate that request.
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Leanna (6/5): Pleasant -
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The room was visibly dirty where the bathroom was the worst of it. Visible hair everywhere and the sink was dirty as well. The bed was so hard and lumpy i almost tried the love seat instead. Would not stay here again
- Linda (4/5): - The place was dirty. Walls were full of stains and the toilet looked like it hadn’t been cleaned.
- Diane (2/5): Very poor - The room was very run down
- Brian (6/5): - They gave us a different room then what we booked. There was bugs and roaches in the bathroom, especially in the tub.The walls and doors were dirty, but it overall was a nice stay.We had direct tv with hbo to look at. Had to clean to room ourselves.
- Darien (6/5): - The cost is reasonable and the location is okay relative to downtown area. The linen had some strange odor; the bathroom could be cleaned better and more towels needed. and it is adjacent to a club. For the money; this is about what you would expect nowadays.
- Nabeeha (9/5): Superb -
- Willard (7/5): Good -
- Jeremy (10/5): - It's cool
- Tyrone (1/5): I asked for a four day stay with two beds the clerk that night told me they only had a room with one bed. I told her I a - I did not like the property nothing the dumpster smelled
- Thomas (2/5): - Trash left in room. Microwave and frig not clean. Bedding had not been changed and was disgusting. Requested refund and found better accommodations.
- Yates (6/5): Pleasant -
- kelly (4/5): - The room was dirty and full of flies. We killed at least five before going to sleep and woke up to at least 5 or more.
- Tommy (4/5): Meh - This place is not great at all but will do in a pinch. Have stayed here several times over the years and it’s sub-par in every way. Beds aren’t comfortable, there are always bugs but never have seen bedbugs. Most of the door ways and stuff need to be cleaned or painted; really the whole place needs a deep clean. Last night there was blood on the sides of the sink cabinet where someone had presumably dripped while reaching for some toilet paper. It had been there for a while never been cleaned up. Moral of this story, book far in advance when visiting Starkville for better options.
