Guest Reviews
- Monica (8/5): Great place - A wonderful gem in the middle of the jungle. Felt safe and pampered in the exotic getaway
- Victoria (10/5): - Incredible place! The hotel is located between the canals and the beach making it the perfect place to tour as well as relax. :)
- Bobby (10/5): - Fantastiskt alltihop
Personal, mat, tour, guide
- Travellady (10/5): - Great place right in the jungle. Staff was super friendly and our guide Ricardo very knowledgeable
- Michael (10/5): Great stay for a families - Great place for a family of four. Service, food, and room were all well above expectations. The kids enjoyed the turtle shaped pool, and the bar was very reasonable for the adults. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and we saw a ton of species on the morning boat tour. They put the families with young young children together in the same area, which was perfect for the families and the others staying without little ones. We would definitely stay here again, and would highly recommend for young families.
- gianbattista (6/5): - Good place for a couple of days. Very cordial service, however very limited food and drinks selection. When you are locked in a place for a few days, you need more variety. Any Costa Rican soda offers better variety and quality. Not in line with the cost and expected level of the lodge.
- Rent men simpelt værelse.
Sehr nettes Personal. Schöne Alleinlage.
- cornelia (8/5): awesome stay with some things to get better - the hotel offers packages including 3 tours who are: on the way from sjo to the hotel you have a guide explaining about banana plantation and a breakfast is served on the way in a typical restaurant. once you get on board a boat to tortuguero you will start your first boat excursion. it is not only a transfer to the hotel, but also the first introduction to the caribbean rainforest and a stop in tortuguero to see the village and buy the entrance ticket of usd 15 p.p. (cc accepted).
the third excursion is a hiking of around 2 hours through the forrest. boots are provided.
overall all excursions are very good and our guide was excellent.
in addition i can recommend a night boat drive - awesome and addtl cost of usd 35,00.
the hotel itself is very nice, has a perfect location and the rooms are clean with very good matrasses.
the only what has definately to be putten an effort on, is the restaurant area: very basic food (pasta, fish or meat, rice and vegetables - both dinners), the tables were not cleaned over night or between the meals (we found a medicin aluminium from last dinner in the morning again and the stains of the breakfast coffe from the morning before ...) and also the service to take the plates from maincourse was even slow or done by us (2 girls for 14 guests ..).
if this does not matter to you, i would really recommend the hotel to stay.
- Chris (10/5): A great introduction to Costa Rica - A great place to start your holiday in Costa Rica, staff extremely helpful and the tours were excellent with friendly knowledgable guides
- Verified traveler (8/5): Remote rustic lodge - Loved our stay at the lodge. Staff was excellent. No means of communication with the outside world. No internet or cell coverage. Love it! Three tours were included and all were excellent. Guides were knowledgeable and interesting. The scenery was extraordinary. Guest rooms are very basic and could use more ventilation. Beds were not very comfortable.
- Aleksey (10/5): The best place in Costa Rica - A lot of thanks to our guide Fernando for the unforgetenable trips duoring the stay.
- Teresa (8/5): Wonderful - The hotel is definitely rustic for 5 star standards; however, one must remember this is a very remote location. It takes two buses and river taxi to get there; however, check with the hotel because they usually arrange their river transportation to pick you up in La Pavona or their bus to pick you up in Guapiles and then to La Pavona for their boat. You cannot drive directly to the hotel but this is part of the experience of going to Tortuguero.
They were very nice and all meals are included along with river tour, jungle tour, and sea turtle conservancy if you wish.
The hotel assigns a guide to be with you for the entire stay. We arrived a day after a Nat Geo tour arrived and we were added to that group. Our guide Kenneth was extremely knowledgeable and even assisted us in arranging transportation to our next destination; something I was assured the hotel could assist us with but the language barrier was difficult. Kenneth stepped in assisted with the reservations and saved the day!
I would not recommend going to Tortuguero if you are finicky, demand luxury or air conditioning; however, if you want to enjoy the beauty complete with howler monkeys waking you up, this is the place to stay.
