- Consuelo (8/5): -
- John (8/5): - This is the cheapest hotel closest to the beach The hotel looks a bit run down.
- Ben (10/5): -
- Pavel (10/5): -
- Toby (8/5): - Location
- p (8/5): As permanent residents in Baja we travel to todos santos and Cerritos a couple of times a season- we would stay here aga - Wonderful location and the room had a great view of the beach. The air conditioning was leaking and we put a pot under it to catch the water… also like many locations in the Baja there was sewage odours off and on…
- Kathryne (10/5): Great stay with friendly staff. Free parking was nice. Great view of the surf from the penthouse. Loved the rooftop and - Friendly staff. Full service bar. Outdoor shower not working/available.
- Jhoeland (7/5): Juan was great. Property maintenance needed. Get a decent car to navigate the dirt road to the property. Parking should - Proximity to the beach The road to the property is not paved. The property needs some TLC.
- Josie (10/5): - We had a group of 16 and everyone from our teens to the grandparents loved this place!! One of our crew caught a giant Dorado fish and with barely any notice, the staff cooked it up as a delicious meal for all. It was so convenient to have Jesus and drinks here and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Nothing, it was great!
- Arezoo (9/5): Great views and clean place - Clean and spacious. We ended up with a unit with a fantastic view of the ocean. I didn't put shoes on for the 3 days we were staying there as I could just walk down to the beach in 2 minutes. Great bar at the top of the hill (part of the complex) also with great views of the beach.
- Rebecca (9/5): - Fantastic location! We could see the beach from our bed. Breakfast was pretty small and not great.
- Margareta (8/5): Great location, clean room, nice staff and great drinks. - The location was great, staff friendly and great breakfast. The room was spacious. Should have had newer pots and pans, and a cuttingboard
- Samantha (10/5): -
- Edward (10/5): -
- Andrew (7/5): Great place, loved the area would stay again. 😀 - Close to beach Huge piles of sand under the beds they need to lift the bed frames and sweep underneath. Pretty disgusting
- Thomas (9/5): We had a great evening, thaanks to the guys working the 1 - 9 shift. Food and tequila were excellent - The food and the chef and the bartender were all great! Obviously the stairs are a bit much but thats the way it is. The guys that work the afternoon shift made up for it!
- Gonzalo (8/5): - I was overcharged $42.00 USD for the stay with no reason.
- Armando (8/5): - Staff is an excellent team, they were very helpful during checkin, breakfast and checkout.
Room was comfortable, clean, and well .
maintained. Art is everywhere by the way.
Surely I will stay at Desert Moon again
- Kee (10/5): Very pleased - Great Great
- Alexander (10/5): - Perfect spot by the beach with cool small pool at the top of the steps.
- Gregory (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (10/5): The room was large clean and the bed very comfortable. It was great to have cooking facilities A dish towel and dish c - Proximity to the beach
- Susan (7/5): Good -
- Norma (9/5): Very friendly staff and great location :) - Well equipped and great location :)
- A Jonathan (8/5): - Close to the beach/ ocean view. Large room/ kitchenette.
- Ryan (10/5): - Great location. Walk tonthe beach. Breakfast every morning was perfect.
- Glenn (10/5): A great beach side apartment - The room is a nice layout with plenty of space a sofa, small kitchen and a table.
Shower was hot with good water pressure The bed linen and pillows could do with updating
- Karin (10/5): Perfection at a fun family style beach. - The location is fantastic. You are right at the beach . It is a fun beach with beach bars and surfing lessons. Food is good in town as well. Breakfast is served at the pool with a great view. The only problem are the stairs and you have to be able to get your luggage up.no elevator.
- Paulina (8/5): Very good -
- Brooke (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (9/5): Excellent day great location nice big comfortable room close to the beach loved it would stay there again. - The location was amazing. Just steps from the beach and parking was just right down the steps of where we stayed. Also, the room was very large, lots of room to do a morning workout, a big picnic table to eat at and spread things out and a kitchen area as well. The bathroom was a decent size as well and there’s plenty of water pressure tons of hot water. They could use a few more pots and pans as the pan we had had a bowed bottom and also it would be great if each room was equipped with a broom to sweep out the sand.
- Susan (8/5): - Lots of stairs but place is beautiful. Room was missing toilet paper and there is a pot but no coffee.
- Sandra (8/5): Very good - Location, friendly staff, view, breakfast. The pillows are very hard. Densely packed so I would change them.
- Madison (8/5): Charming boho hotel on the beach! - This was the perfect spot for a night in Cerritos! We were greeted with one of the best margaritas we've had in Todos Santos at their charming bar at the top of the hotel. We quickly met neighbors and got some local recommendations that really helped us get a feel for Cerritos! We stayed closer to the bottom of the property, but still had an excellent view of the beach and sunrise/sunset. The room had all we needed. The proximity to the beach was perfect for morning and evening walks which were the highlight. Parking was a breeze! The bed was a little firm, and linens weren't particularly luxurious, but I suppose it fit the beach bum vibe! I would skip the included breakfast. There was a small trough to clean your feet of sand when you came up from the beach which needed a clean to be useable and would have been nice!
- Margaret (10/5): - Cerritos is great.
- Juliette (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (6/5): - Cerritos beach itself is gorgeous really but has become way too busy. The hotel desert moon was overpriced, and we were only given 1 roll of tp for 2 people for three nights and the towels (and bedding) weren’t changed once during our stay. There is no garden area or laundry facilities as advertised. Otherwise the breakfast included was nice to have in the morning, simple but still alright, and the staff were pleasant.
- Leah (1/5): Bad - Proximity to surf Staff wasn’t friendly or helpful
Lights in room not working
Microwave not working
Room not cleaned often
Gate Was Locked when we had to leave and nobody was there to open it so we couldn’t get to our car and we had a plane to catch
- Rebecca (8/5): Very good - Great location right by the beach. The bar/restaurant was great. Best mango and pineapple margaritas i had the whole trip! The room was clean and big. The sheets were rough and stained--definitely needed to be replaced. The shower wasn't as hot as I'd have liked.
- Wendy (7/5): Good -
- Guillermo (8/5): - The location
- Alexandro (8/5): Very good -
- michael (4/5): - I'd really like to give this place 5 stars...but I paid a deposit through Orbitz to make my reservation and despite having my receipt for the deposit payment clearly showing the balance due at the property - they said they didn't show a deposit being paid and required me to pay the full amount in order to stay. I will amend this review in the event they reach out to refund me the deposit which was paid twice.
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional - amazing view closest hotel in Cerritos to the actual beach break you could peak out and check how the waves were doing. Comfy bed clean room simple but delicious huevos rancheros for breakfast with coffee. the pool didn't look particularly cleaned but I went in it anyway and it has a great view
- Tania (9/5): Superb -
- Al (4/5): - No TV or radio. It is just a plain room with Microwave, coffee maker with no coffee. Checking out 7:30 am is impossible. Gate door is secure and no one is there.
- Kathleen (9/5): Superb - Close to beach. Nice pool. Breakfast was basic and lacked menu for a variety of choices.
- Grant (8/5): I will go back. Perfect for a combination of surfing, walking and otherwise relaxing. - The kitchen would benefit from being better supplied - salt, pepper, sugar, a bit of coffee and a some drinkable water would be nice. Particularly when guests may have not had a chance to get to a grocery store.
- Chris (6/5): Pleasant - Great location, kitchen and utensils were close to non existent.the breakfast should not be offered, it does not compliment the experience. Rooms were too basic.. need more character. Kitchen, breakfast (that you pay extra for)
- William (10/5): - Great location and value
- Robert (10/5): - A nice beach and very safe off the beaten path.
- Jennifer (10/5): Perfect stay for us. - Fantastic staff went above and beyond to make our stay amazing.
- Jorge (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christina (2/5): We left after 1 night had planned to stay 3! 3 - It was clean except the pool area Too many stairs
Too small patio
The pool was a huge disappointment plus it spill onto the walkway below where we got all wet after climbing stairs!
Not as represented on website!!!
- Gretchen (5/5): I would not stay here again - Only some units have a sea view. I had a view of an abandoned building and if I stood in one corner of the porch, I could see a bit of the beach Sand blew in around doors. No actual view of the beach or water
- Susan (1/5): Great beach place to stay if you are not charged twice. - The people who worked there were friendly, helpful.
Great location.
Everything available for a short stay. Was charged twice, plus rate changed by $71 of price quoted in 2weeks. check your bank statement.
- Lindy (10/5): - The property is accessible by lots of stairs which make for great views of Cerritos beach. The rooms are clean and have comfy queen bed, bathroom with shower, mini kitchen with refrigerator, Stove, microwave, toaster, sink, pots and pans, dishes, dish drain. The decor is a modern, cool concrete with artsy painting. Breakfast is included with coffee and three choices of quesadilla, eggs with ham and homemade tortillas, or eggs with refried beans. There are extra items on menu to buy for breakfast and lunch and dinner too. The hotel is a short walk distance to the sandy beach which has swimming, surfing, restaurant, dj, surfboard rentals and lessons, beach chair and umbrella rentals, massage on beach for hire. We spent three days on beach chair under umbrella just relaxing. You can walk or run the beach for miles and miles. If you want to walk more you can try out the ten or more restaurants/ bars or drive to them. Also three mini markets in town. Coffee shop where you can adopt dogs. Awesome pizza restaurant. Also restaurants on beach if you want to explore with ocean views. The neighboring town pescadero has farm to table restaurants, breakfast restaurants, ice cream. If you want to go twenty minutes check out todos santos for authentic Mexican vibe and shopping plus restaurants and beaches. This is my third time visiting the hotel.
- gregory (4/5): - Last minute trip to Cerritos. Glad it was only for one night.
- Anne (9/5): We enjoy our stay especially because we have the possibility to stay after the check out and profit of the pool and rest - Location. Staff. Pool. Breakfast. Pool not so large
- Sage (10/5): - Surfers paradise! We loved this small surf community with complimentary eggs and ham for breakfast. Not wheelchair accessible all rooms are stair access. Beach has chairs, umbrella and surf lessons for rent. We would totally stay here again and had a great experience!!!
- Roxanne (8/5): Best spot close to the beach - Location No water in the room to drink
- Ashlea (4/5): Disappointing - Location is primo!! You can see and hear the waves from your private balcony! We were always out of toilet paper!!!
- Jeffrey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gail (7/5): Good -
- Mollyd (8/5): Good value great location. - Great property w good views. Spacious rooms with kitchenettes Very dusty from construction. No paper towels, dish towels etc. Chairs on patio not cleaned.
- Sharon (8/5): - A basic, adequate room situated next to gorgeous Cerritos Beach. Decor and furniture a bit dated; kitchenette, coffee maker and refrigerator are modern with limited pans, utensils for cooking. The free breakfast was coffee, scrambled eggs with ham. More options on menu for $. Nice small pool in outdoor bar/restaurant area.
Location on Cerritos Beach is outstanding!! Several small cafe/bars on beach serve good food and drinks. You can rent surfboard, chairs, umbrellas, take lessons, play volleyball, swim, walk, fish, explore. A laid-back, happy, friendly vibe for all ages.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pam (9/5): Loved it, didn't want to leave - Beach view Lovely casual open air restaurant/ bar so close to the beach. Dinner was wonderful fresh fish. Breakfast could use a little more, but free so definitely fine/ leave some extra towels and TP, but they quickly got what ever you needed.
- Marge (8/5): Great. - Great view and staff. Having breakfast included was great. Simple but all you need. The roof top terraces were a great spot to see the sun rise and set. The pool was small and right where people eat. It would work for a quick dip but definitely not a pool for kids to romp in. That was fine by us because the ocean was so close we could hear it while falling asleep when we kept sliding door open. Big bonus to be so close to the beach vs. having to drive.
My daughters and I had an amazing pizza cooked on site for dinner while playing cards and having a relaxing night!
I would stay there again for the cost, convenience, ability to eat there and majority of the crew there! Wished the restaurant opened prior to 8:30. Would be lovely to have morning coffee and chow earlier.
The clean team dropped towels and put out new toilet paper. A change of sheets would have been appreciated on our 6 night stay, but again. As careful as you can be, some sand will just get in the sheets. Not a deal breaker but would have been really appreciated to have just one change.
The view is partially obstructed from an ugly unfinished cement sided gigantic home that was left undone. It's an eyesore but easy for to overlook given the views around are gorgeous.
There is alot of construction that happens starting at 7am M-Fridays. We arrived on a Sat. and were woken up Monday but lots of clanking. It's good to get up early anyways, so having some coffee and breakfast sooner would help that out. :)
- Boris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mollyd (8/5): Great location spacious rooms. - Great location w some facilities and parking Almost nothing supplied in the efficiency
- Frank (8/5): Cerritos what could be wrong - Right next to the beach in Cerritos, great location for beach activities . Walkable to the rest of town Refrigerator struggled to get cold, no tv in room
- Craig (8/5): All in all a lovely place to stay with the sounds of the waves right outside (loud because the surf was big :) - Awesome location! Close to the beach and good views with the exception of this unfinished eye-sore castle like thing right in front but what can you do Bare bones - would be great to have a couple packs of coffee and some shampoo (just a soap dispenser) but it’s still great
- Maria (2/5): Would not go again - Not much Stairs to rooms were terrifying
Food -eh
Drinks -eh
- Ernesto (2/5): - No water, electricity issues. Bad experience. People in charge were nice though.
- Mollyd (7/5): Basic accommodation in fantastic location. - Great location, large rooms, clean, great view. Good internet. They have a kitchen w no wine glasses, no kitchen towel or scrub brush, no paper towels. No soap.
- Giselle (3/5): Not worth the price paid - Great location Bed bugs, torn screen doors, major mosquitos, power outages, unreliable WiFi and no TV’s. Breakfast was atrocious.
- Catherine (8/5): Great location, good staff, very basic amenities. - Staff at the bar were great. Excellent location. Missing basic things like paper towels and extra toilet paper. There is also no drinking water provided which I think should be mentioned when you book so you can come prepared.
- Kimberly (6/5): this place to work out its kinks location is awesome - Seems new and nice. Not cluttered. Modern. Good size kitchen. The decks and group spaces viewing decks are amazing. Loved falling asleep listening to the waves We had two rooms. AC didn’t work in one. Hot water was hot and miss. Power fluctuation but they must have a great generator because it was not an issue. But lights would flicker power would turn off but then it would reset. Not really a deal for any in our party. The toilet never worked in n one room. We stayed four days. Asked three times for them to service the toilet. They sent a cleaner to look at it. Not sure what was done to repair but it wasn’t fixed. It would flush the chain was broken. And it wouldn’t fill the tank with water. Toilet not working was a bad g pain.
Overall room is Minimal and very bare. Folding chairs as patio furniture. Limited kitchen supplies.
Two pillows on king bed. No extra blankets.
Sofa bed is actually a futon that has buttons and is horribly uncomfortable to lay on. It hardly fits two people. And they didn’t provide any linens for the futon.
We had to request toilet paper every day. They only had one roll. We had four people staying which with more linens and an actual sofa bed or futon that was meant for sleeping. It would have been cozy and fine. As is I wouldn’t recommend extra people.
There is no hot tub pool isn’t cleaned out regularly and is not heated at all. Very cold with all the concrete
Make sure you request cleaning
- Jenifer (9/5): Very enjoyable - Beach view and swimming pool More variety with the breakfast menu
- Erica (10/5): Exceptional - Great service. Beautiful views. Best spot in Cerritos.
- Tanya (8/5): We will come back! - Location & staff were excellent! The pool needs better maintenance so it can be used.
- Christina (8/5): - Moved to this property when the water pump broke at our original hotel. This is decent / nice place with views of Playa Los Cerritos and walkable to the beach. Our original hotel had a modern boho vibe with more of a luxe feel; Desert Moon is more like a surf motel with a casual, modest vibe but the advantage here was a small kitchen with microwave coffeemaker. A huge plus in an area where it's hard to find coffee earlier than 8am! Good size room for two people and comfortable beds.
Be advised that you may be walking up several steps (with no railings) to your room. The stairs are somewhat lit at night but it can be pretty dark in Baja so have your phone's flashlight ready.
- Adelia (10/5): Great place to relax - The staff was wonderful and so nice. It was in a great location, just a short walk to the beach! Could have used shampoo and conditioner in the room (beach hair), but soap was provided. The rooftop deck was a great spot for sunsets and the infinity pool was refreshing. Breakfast was provided and the food was good.
- Carrie (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff. Breakfast included. great views from room. Just steps away from the beach. Could have been cleaner. couch bed was dirty. no sheets for it were provided. dishes were not clean. During our stay we had them clean the room once. this cleaning included only changing & making the main bed. The couch/bed remained unmade/untouched. nothing else was cleaned.
- Maurice (8/5): Very good -
- Adriana (5/5): Passable -
- Alan (2/5): Don’t stay here - No running water, no one to talk at the front desk nothing it was horrible
- Marisa (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): - I liked how close it was to the beach and the view.
The hot water was limited however it got it done.
The falling stars at night was amazing! :)
- Inez (8/5): quick stay it was good - right near the beach great view from our room The evening employee was out sick and there was no one to take care of the bar area so there was no food to eat or music to listen to at the pool area . I had to drive out to look for food .
- Bulcke (7/5): Good -
- Carlos (8/5): very pleasant - mainly location, the view tit he ocean is great! also is located few steps away from the beach half a block or so. much more simple of what I expected, in overall
- Patricia (4/5): - Most of the view of the ocean is blocked by a dirty construction site; access requires dragging your luggage up or down many steep stairs; no help from staff; unit is dark with cold cement floor; No chairs to sit in inside; beds have thin mattresses over hard surface; lighting is two stark ceiling lights; met a large roach in the kitchen - we had planned to stay 3 nights, but left after first night.
- T (8/5): Very good -
- James (10/5): Pura Vida - Amazing stay for us. Ocean waves are a constant soundtrack. Probably the most relaxing, and efficient beach vacation for us yet. Between the beach views, the killer cocktails, that bomb ceviche, and awesome staff...it was perfect for us. We'll be back.
- Simone (8/5): Nice location but too expensive - We had a room at the upper level with a good view to the beach. The king size bed was comfortable. The room and kitchen are big. The personal was friendly. The kitchen is not well equipped. In front of the property is a big empty building, so some of the rooms have no sea view. The breakfast is hilarious. Only some less food and coffee is included.
- Krista (10/5): - Enjoyed interacting with friendly staff. Great proximity to one of the Baja's best beaches.
