• Vanative1 (7/5): Great downtown RVA location, some room for improvement - Location, ease of check in, access to parking garage, free breakfast. First room they gave us smelled of smoke, so Jacob at the front desk graciously moved us to another room which ended up being a larger space! While the room size was great, there were stains on the carpet, not enough lighting for the room size, and they short-sheeted one of the beds. The bathroom was large but no ventilation, and no towel bars to hang used ones. If we're to be more mindful of the environment and not request fresh towels daily, there should be towel bars to hang them to dry. Also, the luggage carts were a bad design and they only had 2 for the entire hotel.

We were expecting to have dinner in the hotel and the restaurant was locked down. The garage was tight and the trash cans were overflowing. • Bradner (6/5): Nice staff trying to cope with outdated and very un-Hampton Inn quality devices and infra-structure - Did not eat breakfast but Hampton Inn usually has a nice one. Crew at desk were trying to be helpful. Hampton Inn beds are great. Hard to find entrance. Room had NO usb ports or connections for devices......hadn't been in room like this in maybe a decade. The tv remote would not work. Told staff and they came to room (left tv on so we would know) and I am sure put in battery. When we got back to room, the remote was crappy and we gave up and went to bed.
• Rowan (9/5): Good Quality but Inexpensive - This was a really good hotel, and the rooms are large and comfortable., with a fridge and tea/coffee facilities. Cost has been stripped out so crockery and cutlery are paper and plastic and all-day coffee is in vacuum jugs. But the hot breakfast ((including fresh waffles) is good. Staff friendly and helpful.

• Mary (9/5): Lovely - we want to visit again when we can do it for fun and not for medical reasons. - The staff was polite and friendly. They actually had a fan for us to use as we forgot ours. The room was lovely and we really enjoyed the breakfast. I like the texting option that they used to communicate! Since we were in town for a medical procedure, when we arrived at the hotel, we really wanted to check in and get settled. However, our room wasn't ready on time. This wasn't a huge problem - we sat in your lovely lobby - but I felt bad for my daughter who just wanted to lay down.
• Joel (2/5): Very disappointing given the price, - The refrigerator in the room didn't work, which caused a big problem for us as my wife is breastfeeding so we couldn't store pumped milk. None of the electrical appliances were plugged in, and the outlets in the room didn't work. We had to move the microwave so we could sterilize bottles. The elevator system was slow and very difficult to use. Only one elevator of the 4 seemed to be working.

• stuartbF4875OE (4/5): Sorry, but not a good Hampton Inn and it is poorly run. - The room was $300+ per night, but nobody was at the front desk to check us in, after a lengthy wait, someone finally came briefly to check us in. But they left again. The problem then continued after we checked in, we saw the toilet paper and tissue dispensers were empty, then nobody was at the front desk, so nobody to help us with that either. After that, we saw somebody had thrown up on the 14th floor and it did not get cleaned up until housekeeping came the next day. There were full of water dehumidifiers on the floor. On top of the hotel cost, the parking was $25 per day, but the parking was tough because they share parking spaces with the attached Homewood Suites The breakfast had packaged eggs, and limited stuff overall, the coffee was very weak, like light brown water. Really, the only good thing about this hotel is the downtown location near the VCU campus and the Altria Theater.

• Mdeebo (8/5): Don’t be afraid of the facade! - Don’t be afraid of the facade! The Hampton Inn in downtown Richmond was a good choice for us for a one night stay. As I pulled up in front of the hotel, I thought I had made a mistake as it was a little shady looking and a little confusing to find the entrance to the hotel. Once inside, it was just like any other Hampton inn. Parking is an extra fee and the entrance is around the corner, but once parked, the elevators take you right up to your room floor. Our room was clean, spacious and the beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. Breakfast /coffee was the standard Hampton fare and a good way for us to start our day. Two small issues: first- the front desk snack area (bottled water,etc) was completely wiped out and didn’t appear to be restocked during our stay. Second, there is no business center in Hampton and you have to go to the Homewood suites to use theirs (connected to Hampton- strange set up actually!) As I went to do that, their systems appear to be down and the person at the front desk wasn’t helpful - she simply walked away rather than offering support. A bit of customer service training might be in order! But that’s at Homewood. The people I encountered at Hampton were very nice! So if you’re considering this hotel, you already know it’s not the Ritz, but I think it’s a solid choice for the budget minded traveler.
• Ratoshia (3/5): - Hello I usually don’t write reviews but I am completely unhappy with my stay. When we arrived at 3:30 I was told that my room wasn’t ready and when asked the person at the front desk (younger male Alex) advised me it might be 10-15 mins. While I wasn’t happy we made it work due to my parents already being checked in. We waited in my parent’s room for about an hour before I had to call down to the front desk and ask. When I talked to Alex he said oh my bad I never called you I’ll send someone up. When I booked my room I booked a corner king suite with a sofa bed. When the person came up to my parents room to give us the key it was a regular non suite room with a huge stain on the floor. We went down to the front desk and Alex and Kenny(manager) were there Alex became very annoyed by the fact that we were unhappy while Kenny was very understanding. Kenny explained that the hotel was overbooked and our room was given away. This had me very unhappy, Alex didn’t seem to care and walked away with no apology. Kenny discounted our room but due to the inconvenience of everything I believe that it is highly unlikely that I will ever book either Hampton again. Sent from my iPhone

• Hicklin (4/5): not worth it. - Staff were very nice Location is cool. Breakfast is handy So I don't think it's worth the money. It's one of the more expensive hotels in the area and don't think it's worth it. Homeless people sleep in the entrance. There are some nights where there are no staff for your hotel and we had a fire alarm at 0100am where the building was evacuated and no staff present to assist or keep us informed. We just stood in the rain for ages. Another night the gas alarm went in my room waking me up at 0400am so 2 nights sleep ruined. Tried contacting staff/maintenance but no one was contactable. Eventually found someone at the other hotel reception who said ignore it it always does that and just silence it. Room cleaning happens every other day which im fine with except it didn't happen. new towels were left on the side but bins weren't cleaned or old towels picked up. Also booking.com doesn't say it's 50 dollars a night for incidental. If I came back I wouldn't be staying here again.

• Robin (1/5): Awful! When we got there, we were told that they had to cancel all third party reservations. - First of all, you must be kidding by asking for my feedback!!! When we got to the hotel, we were told they were sold out and they had to cancel all third party reservations. We were now stuck in Richmond, VA with no room and it was very late!! Luckily I got on my phone and we were able to find a place to stay, But this was a terrible experience. At least the staff tried to be nice about it.

• BRAD (8/5): Reasonable rate for the convenience of location; clean, quiet and comfortable room. - Weekend stay for easy access to National Theatre, the Capital Ale House and other walkable downtown clubs, pubs and restaurants. Hard to distinguish entrances as sister branded hotel in same footprint but with separate lobbies on separate floors but sharing elevators. After a show at a local venue, safer lobby entrance was closed and routed through an unattended entrance past questionable surroundings. Parking cost was steep for a weekend which should be reasonable to help draw visitors. We left our car in the hotel affiliated garage for two days for $50. Being close to the Capitol would be advantageous during milder weather weekends or during the business week. Staff courteous and available.

• Francisco (10/5): Comofortable in Richmond - The property was well located near the convention center and also for a quick trip to the airport the following morning. The upkeep was good and also loved the gym access, it had a better gym than most hotels let me tell you.

After my convention ended and the problems were still not corrected it left me up until almost 2am to be able to change into a new room in the other hotel. Which left me exhausted for the next day at the convention. Wouldnt stay here again.

• Harvey (1/5): It was NOT a good experience at all - Did not attend. Whole facility was not a clean atmosphere. Our entire experience at this location was horrible. Let me first say that We are Hilton Honors members. Just this past September for my daughter’s wedding our entire family and friends stayed at the Hampton Inn in Downtiwn Huntington NY and the entire stay and staff were wonderful! A complete opposite experience to this last stay in Richmond Virginia. To begin with we always request feather free rooms as was indicated on our reservation. When we check in I always confirm this When we did do at the Richmond Virginia site. We were rather rudely told that they do NOT have anything feather free and the person at the desk continued to rudely say that they in fact have cats there!! I suffer from severe allergies and this started a bad reaction ( runny , stuff nose. Red swollen eyes) coughing. We then went up to our room In the room there was a horrible noise that sounded as if a freight train was running through it. I tried calling the front desk to report this. NO answer. At this point we had to drag all our luggage downstairs. Guess what. There wasn’t any one at the front desk. We waited and eventually she returned. She I firmed me that she can not sit at the desk all the time. A maintenance man( a very nice guy) came up to our room and he immediately said there obviously was something broken and that Ofvourse no one should stay in this room. He suggested I call the front desk to ask for a different room. Guess what— no answer! We trigger downstairs again( from the 18th floor and No one was at the desk. She finally appeared. Assigned a new room ( no apology) The new room was quiet but extremely poorly kept. The top of the furniture and mirrors look like no one has cleaned them in months. The bathroom was dirty and not clean smelling. The desk chair did actually confirm that they did have a cat in that room at some point due to the long cat hairs on the chair. Continued from above. When we decided that it was getting late and we were tired and hungry we went to ask for any suggestions for a place to eat. She told us to google it! This whole stay was a bad experience. In such contrast to our previous experiences with the Hilton chain. My husband said to me that he really thinks we should think of switching to a different chain in the future

Then hotel had no running water for our entire stay so we had to leave early. A waist of money and staff was no help because the only explanation I received was we are not liable. No type of compensation or anything for staying in a hotel where you could bathe or use the bathroom

• Meghan (7/5): Easy to book, easy parking, many activities nearby. - We booked for the Richmond Marathon, and the location was convenient. Key did not work at first but was quickly fixed. Only one person working the front desk (who was very nice). Tv remote did not work so we only had one channel. Blinds did not shut so we had light all night. Breakfast was fine, very basic. We understand the cost was very high for us because of the event that weekend.

When I queried the price of parking ($25 per night; not $20/ night in confirmation email) I was first told it was because 3rd party (booking.com) get it wrong. When I explained the email came from the hotel, he said it’s taxes (which wasn’t mentioned in the email). Breakfast was barely ok… and eating anything with plastic cutlery is a challenge. Overall, it was expensive for what it was.

• Amanda (9/5): The staff and rooms are great! - It was great! It was very clean and comfortable and the view was great! The lady who checked us in was wonderful and so sweet. My partner and I enjoyed talking to her even after we completed the checking in process! The breakfast was cold. The guy brought out a new tray of eggs and potatoes, and put them in the warming trays, and they were still cold. The line for the waffle maker was so long too. Also, the parking garage is absolutely terrible to navigate.

It appeared someone tried to tape it. But the tape had been removed. Annoying to have to hold the remote together when using it.

The inside of the shower curtain had a huge smudge of lotion or something else on it. The doors and walls had other substances smeared on them. We also went to breakfast at 9:00 and eggs and hash browns were completely gone. Staff said they were brining more but after waiting 15 minutes, we left. Overall not a great experience.

Expedia lied to you"") Street noise, sirens and ambulance noise was loud & intrusive on the 15th floor(!!), even though I asked for a quiet location. One of the blackout curtain chains was broken, so light & street noise came in at all hours of the day & night. The person who brought fresh towels & TP was not wearing hotel ID of **ANY** kind and I was very uncomfortable opening the door to him. There was NO decaf coffee at breakfast which was really pathetic. 2 staff members "hiding" in the coffee area to take a break. It was a TOTAL MESS there. The worst Hilton we've ever experienced - E V E R.

Had to go to the hotel next-door around the corner because there was no one at the desk at first we said OK. Things happen. Staffing is hard but then in the middle of the night, no one was there. And then again this morning during breakfast there was no one there. This is a nice facility but ran very poorly would not come back or recommend to a friend.
• Kerri (8/5): Ok but too much commotion from others - The staff and the room were great. However the problems we had were with the other guests and non guests . One family on our floor had lots of kids . They let them RUN around the halls screaming and getting glitter everywhere for hours. Finally a little after midnight I followed the trail of glitter to their room and asked them to please quit yelling and running.. after some attitude the mom made them quite down . I saw them again the next morning and all the kids were still coated in glitter leaving trails in the elevators and lobby . The other problem was that the rooftop bar has changed hours ( and names) and the information in our email from the hotel was incorrect.. also when we did go up there for a drink around 9 they told us they were full and there were no tables for two and we could order at the bar and seat ourself along the wall.ok that's fine...However it took a while to get the bartenders to help us and once we finally got our drinks there was no where to sit with them. Then later we saw most of the people that had been taking up most of the space and tables at the bar leaving the hotel for the night. They weren't even guests of the hotel. You should have space for your guests not the public.

Als toerist gevraagd naar een city map …….. ook nog nooit van gehoord…. Dus naar een ander hotel gelopen waar dat geen probleem was…. ….. de bar op de Top SUPER …. Wel erg prijzig …. Ontbijt en de service als toerist

• Isabel (2/5): - Everything was fine until early the next morning when the carbon monoxide detector went off. Multiple calls to the front desk went unanswered. We went to the desk in person to see if there was an emergency, but no one was present and phones were ringing off the hook. We wound up having to flee as we didn't know if it was safe to stay. Hard to recommend this hotel for that reason.
