Guest Reviews
- Francis (10/5): - Thank you!
- Patrick (10/5): - Not sure about property safety.
- KIMBERLY (10/5): - Maria at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful! The motel itself is older and nostalgic feeling. We only spent one night as we were passing through. We would definitely stay again!
- Raja (6/5): - Sss
- Russell (10/5): - Very nice
- Harald (8/5): - Nice, old-timey motel (park in front of your door) near southern end of Lamar. Rooms are comfortable, well furnished, and clean.
- KIM (8/5): - Nico and his wife are absolutely amazing. The owners however need to do some updates, but besides that it was great. They have a pool clean and warm but no breakfast which is fine because there is restaurants everywhere. Thanks Nico
- Michael (6/5): - Nope
- Sylvia (10/5): - The staff at the Blue Spruce were extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
- Jeremy (8/5): - Old but cute
You can tell they've put a lot into renovating this older motel.
- Linda (10/5): - Very nice older motel. Has been kept up. linens were very clean. Air conditioner was quiet.
- Fermina (8/5): - The room had a bad smell
- Tessa (10/5): - Great staff. Easy to work with. Arrived really late at 3 am and check in was easy and fast. They offered late check out which was super nice.
- Dan (6/5): - We really liked this hotel and the staff was very friendly, but the beds were terrible. We would stay again if they would get new mattresses.
- Debbie (10/5): - The room was very spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. It was a little dated but I would stay here again. Excellent value for the money.
- Judy (8/5): - Very clean and had all we needed for a 1 night stay. Price was higher than our initial check.
- James (8/5): - older property but clean and served us well for the price
- Douglas (10/5): - For what it is, its a great value! Clean, comfortable rooms at a vintage motel.
Front desk was exceptional and welcoming.
Pool was sparkling clear and clean.
Good job Blue Spruce Motel.
- Dawn (8/5): Nice little older motel - This is an older motel in the process of upgrading. They have painted everywhere, the microwave and refrigerator were new, and they had replaced the commode and sink in the rose colored tile bathroom. Everything was very clean but the carpet and furniture are worn. The sink in the “kitchen” area didn’t work well but dripped constantly. Overall, it was worth it for the price for us.
- Mary (10/5): - nice and quiet. Very clean
- Juliane (10/5): - Great little no frills place. Loved how nastalgic it was and so close to high school rodeo! (Basically across the street)
- Tom (10/5): Blue Spruce - The hotel was clean and presentable the staff friendly room was large and comfortable
- cowsal77 (2/5): Worst Hotel in Years - We reserved a 2 queen bed room. My husband was given a 1 bed room. The employee claimed "they just see a room was reserved, not size." Husband did not realize we were reserved for 2 beds until he reviewed the reservation after unpacking and putting our son to bed. My son kicked all night, and my husband has to drive 12 hours today. The checkout person said "it was travelocity's problem." We contacted them to complain, they were nice but unable to do anything. The manager claimed my husband was okay with the room to cover for themselves with Travelocity, refused refund even partial. She never saw him or spoke to him. After finding out we PAID for 2 bed and were given 1, he was rightfully NOT okay with the arrangement. Floor boards seemed rotten in places, pillows were terrible. They do not deserve their current rating. They need employees that at least pretend to care about customer service.

- Douglas (8/5): - It was fine for an older property.
- Lynn (10/5): - This was the third hotel room my husband and i stayed in on our trip, and it was the best! The room was clean, comfortable, and set up nicely. Thank you
- Jerald (6/5): - Courteous staff
- William (8/5): - Was a good overall stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing water pressure - Best place to stay in Lamar for the money. Water pressure off the hook
- barbaradS8047FV (4/5): Has not had a pool for many years. - Blue Spruce has not had a pool for many years. They mostly cater to homeless people shipped in from Denver.

- gary (10/5): Warm and cozy - Great room. Clean comfortable. Heat was on. That was a big plus with outside temperatures below 20 degrees.
- Ron (8/5): - For an older facility, it was very clean and comfortable, as well as economical.
- paul (8/5): - This is an older motel but the room was very nice. Nice bed, nice classic 1960s type bathroom and shower. It was a decent place to stay at a fair price.
- Caysie (10/5): - Poorly
- Paul (4/5): - Beds were sagging in middle. Worn out
- Gary (6/5): - Nice older hotel that was clean and quiet. Good place for the money.
- JoAnn (8/5): Review - It was dated. Floors creaked, but it was clean beds were comfortable and had plenty of outlets plenty of restaurants nearby. Good AC. Quick check in
- Jane (10/5): Nice stay - Excellent stay, convenient, clean, friendly staff.
- Bryan (6/5): - Location busy and parking limited.
- Nick (6/5): - Older hotel and it shows. However, it is clean and conveniently located. Shower controls don't work well. ¼ of the water still came out of the bathtub spigot. Drain in tub didn't drain well and we were standing in shower water by the end of our showers. Toilet was really slow to drain. Wasn't sure everything was going to go down. Had to hold the handle down and really empty the tank to get everything in the bowl to go down.
- Ernest (6/5): - I usually don’t stay in Motels because I prefer Hotels. From the road it looks like a typical Hotel that’s been around for a while. Once I entered my room I was pleasantly surprised how large and clean it was. I will stay here again if I am in the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This an old fashioned stuck in the 50’s/60’s but clean and a decent price for a good nights stop. Other brand hotels weren’t rated as high as this one so why not give it a try.
- James (8/5): - Nice, motor-hotel feel to Blue Spruce. Nice rooms with just the right amount of space to rest. We would stay there whenever traveling thru Lamar, CO.
- Donald (Aldo) (10/5): Clean w/ All Basic Creature Comforts Necessary - Rooms decor and finishes is stuck in the 50’s and 60’s. However, they are reasonably clean and give you the basic creature comforts that we need! Prices are very reasonable. I will stay here again and again, each and every time I come to or through Lamar for work or travel
- Annette (10/5): - This was a quick overnight stop. We did enjoy a great Mexican dinner just a couple blocks away. Plus, we needed a battery and there is a Walmart close by. Ample parking for a truck with a trailer.
- Alan (10/5): - Don't be dismayed by the weathered sign and 1960's appearance. Smile at the old-style paper-based check-in and metal key. When you get in your room, you'll find a very nice, clean, quiet, refurbished space with a quite-comfortable bed. You'll be glad you booked this place.
- Trubert W (10/5): - The property has been kept nice for its age. We needed a place to stay without costing a lot of money. The staff was friendly and willing to work with us. The room was clean. Cooling heating unit worked great, wonderful hot water in the shower. Our room had a refrigerator, coffee pot and microwave. The only thing that could’ve made this better would have been breakfast options, but overall very satisfied and will be staying there again.
- Donald (Aldo) (8/5): Very 50’s & 60’s Motel - Nice enough for a couple nights stay in Lamar. Very 50’s & 60’s Motel All the way around. Quiet and No Issues. Would likely stay again
- Elizabeth (8/5): Does the trick. - Inexpensive roadside motel. Cute park for kids at the motel. Good restaurant options nearby.
- Curtis (8/5): - Nice, but outdated
- Kristy (8/5): - Was ok for a quick night's rest while traveling. Everything is extremely outdated, the room had a musky smell, and the ac never got real cold. Was very clean at least!
- Carl (10/5): - Very clean room and cooled temperature when we arrived.
- Maria (10/5): - Everything clean
Good service
- Joni S (10/5): - Nice, clean place to stay!
- Hendo1cote (10/5): Loved It - Very nice place the owners were so nice and we could tell they go out of the way to make their place cozy and welcoming. We very much enjoyed our stay. The room was clean the beds were super comfortable and the location is quiet. Everything we wanted in a place to stay the night. We will definitely stay there again.
- Bill (6/5): - Not really pet friendly at $30 per dog, both under 20 pounds
- Wanda (8/5): - This clean little old fashioned motel was a great stay for us. The interior of the room had everything you need, and more chairs and seating space than your average chain hotel. The green and white tile and pink tub in the bathroom (all sparkling clean) were fun, and reminded me of my childhood family trips when this style of motel was all we stayed in. Definitely a good stop.
- William (10/5): - On the highway.
- Robert (10/5): - It was affordable, comfortable and spacious
- Nick (8/5): Old school motel. - Clean simple early 60'era motel. Has character. Kind of a strong cleaning agent smell inside. Just the basics for a good price. Pillows are lumpy. AC has a hard time keeping room cool when it was 100⁰ plus outside. Would stay again.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Perfect for what we needed - This was a one night stop for our family. Rooms are clean, location is convenient, price is right. Decor is dated, but part of its charm. The pool is clean and refreshing. There's even a play area with swings. Would definitely stay here again.
- Terry (10/5): - easy to find. room is large and clean.
- Daniel (8/5): - Everything was clean and tidy
- Adam (8/5): Cheapest Listing in Town so Not Surprised - The place itself was just fine. Staff was quick and friendly, the room was dated but large and comfortable. Only downside to my visit were other loud guests sitting outside of their rooms drinking and smoking until it finally began storming at 1am and forced them back inside. Thankfully the AC drowned them out well enough.
- Randal (8/5): - Clean, good beds, great water pressure and hot water. This is a tired property and the furnishings are worn. Bathroom tub was pink with 4” square white and green tiles (very nostalgic). That said it was clean and comfortable and the price was right. The front desk clerk was away when we arrived but had a sign saying they would return at 5:30 so we waited for 15 minutes - not a big deal. We will definitely stay here again when driving through the area
- Reid (8/5): Motel gem in Lamar, Colo. - This is an old style one-floor motel on the south end of Lamar, Colo. It has a playground and lawn on the grounds and parking right outside your room. The room was like a small apartment, with one queen bed and a couch, plus a full kitchen. It’s dated but comfortable and clean. I really had a good feeling about this place. It’s not fancy, but great for a guy or a family on a road trip.
- Stacey (10/5): - Overall a nice stay...friendly staff, clean rooms at a price easy to swallow
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Tell the owners the frig was too cold and froze some of my food/
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good value - Older motel but in good shape. Very roomy and CLEAN. Conveniently located for those traveling by car. It is right on the highway and easy to find. Will stay there again when traveling through Lamar.
- Caroline (10/5): - It is a well kept older motel. It was clean and comfortable.
- Connie (8/5): - Quiet
- BRENDA (8/5): - Was an older property but well kept up and beds were comfortable. Easy parking rightin front of door.
- Judy (6/5): - My only complaint was the strong cleaning odor or perfume smell of the room. I had to sleep with the window open all night. Hope you can correct this issue.
- Ann (10/5): Send Pleasant and convenient - Room was very clean, comfortable and quiet couldn’t ask for more.
- Michael (10/5): - Older but in great shape.
- Felipa (6/5): - Nice staff
- Felipa (6/5): - Nice people rooms were good
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Property is older but very well maintained and clean. Very quiet
- Joan W (10/5): - One of those independent old motels that has been lovingly kept up.
- Dorothy (10/5): - The vibe of earlier travels. Beds were comfortable…very clean. Lots of towels.
- Michael (6/5): - Staff works very hard, but this is an old facility. Bathroom fan in room 106 is in serious need of replacement and is non functional. Room smelled like heavy cigarette use. Wall outlets barely hold the prongs of my cpap and phone charger; all of them. Mattresses are old and flimsy. Room was otherwise clean.
Like I said, they work very hard and do their best.
- Leon (10/5): - While this is an older property it was clean and comfortable with easy entry/exit as it was one level with parking at your door. The beds were excellent, there was a kitchen sink, small refrigerator with freezer, microwave and coffee maker. Importantly there was a comfortable recliner chair. The shower was good. Also there was a small table with two comfortable chairs for casual dining. While not stylish, it was certainly clean, quiet and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.
- vicki (8/5): - Bed was a little hard. Room had very strong cleaner smell.
- Michael W (10/5): Great value - This place has everything you need and is clean, spacious and comfortable. For the price this is an exceptional value.
- Nevin (10/5): - All good
- Kenneth (8/5): Great fifties vibe! - The only bad part was that they had already drained the pool. There was some west but it only added to the fifties vibe. The room was clean, check-in was pleasant, the air conditioner was a bit finicky but did its job. Overall a nice stay!
- Kenneth (6/5): - The facility is dated and old with very few updates. The A/C was not able to cool the room for sleeping
- Theresa (10/5): - Quiet, easy to find
- Dan (10/5): Quite nice - Dated but we'll kept, better than most and better than I anticipated.
- 833jannaf (10/5): Clean - The room was clean, and the price was budget-friendly. They are pet friendly. Honestly, that's the 3 things I was looking for. In addition the room was fairly cute. Couldn't get the hairdryer to work, but that's not much to complain about.
- Cheryl (10/5): - Clean and friendly
- rcalcara (6/5): A Basic Motel, Inexpersive - I wanted a cheap place to spend the night. The price was very low and was appropriate for the quality. It is a 50's era motel. It seemed pretty clean, the bathroom fixtures didn't work very well, but it had a mini-fridge and a microwave, so It has some basic features. I slept well, which is what mattered.
- Karolyn (8/5): - near the highway
- Grace (10/5): - Clean, quiet, roomy.
- Christine (8/5): - Dripping faucets
- Diane (10/5): - Easy check in, daily maid service!
- Crystal (8/5): Close to great birding - I had issues with my television, called the office and they came right away and fixed it, very friendly. Pleasant stay, older motel. Room was clean, nice park area in front of motel. Located within easy walking distance to Lamar Community College, and their awesome birding trail.
- Palmer (10/5): - Parking is always an issue since i pull a trailer. They had space for me right outside my room for it. The grounds looked fantastic with a playground, too.
- Ravon Sue (4/5): - Not customer friendly
- Robert (10/5): - Very colorful and well maintained.
