Guest Reviews
- Roger (2/5): - Nice people. Safe. Old mattresses that need to be replaced. Great staff. Could use TLC
- Ed (4/5): - The price attracted my attention, but I should have known better
- Damian (2/5): - Paid for week, came back after work and little stuff was missing. 3rd night noticed cockroaches.
- Kristine (4/5): - Won't stay again. Just before we left there was a cockroach crawling on the table
- Carol (2/5): - We checked in at night not seeing the outside collage of dilapidated surroundings of this disgusting place! The only ok about this is the sheets did look laundered, a new floor had been installed so no carpet thankfully . It had a refrigerator that worked well. Expedia cannot believe you would offer this! The place looked like they furnished it grabbing free items from lawns, ditches etc. I’m fine with old but clean, which the reviews indicated but no way could you say it’s clean! The outside was completely disgusting. Never did I see the office open. Couldn’t speak to advise why I’m giving this review because no one was around so had to leave key in a mailbox! I have pictures but unsure they will upload. These premises haven’t been cared for for years, I know no one who would sit in these chairs that are outside and I didn’t sit in the one inside either. Bath towels , 1 towel and 1 wash cloth per person, no renewal 2nd day & they appeared to be purchase at garage sales to be used in the garage, worn, threadbare, stiff. Nothing matched & they should have been tossed ! It’s a dump! Which is unfortunate as our family & friends were looking for an inexpensive place for future stays but it certainly won’t be this place! The inside smell of dirty ash tray/moldy! I couldn’t believe we stayed here & had it not been late when we woke the person up in the designated room # we would not have! check in was the 1 time we saw an employee. ! Shame Expedia for not doing due diligence!
- Rachel (6/5): - It’s a pretty run down place don’t expect anything nice for sure but it is dirt cheap so you should know what you’re getting
- Michele (10/5): - Its what i was looking for
- Carrie (10/5): - Lol
- Janelle (10/5): - Easy check in, parking right in front of my room
- Lauren (10/5): - The people were nice but the property was disgusting.
- Sheri (4/5): - It was incredibly filthy, would never stay there again.
- Scott (8/5): Got service - Left my backpack there and the owner held it for 1 week before I came and got it. It was full of expensive electronics too.
Room was outdated, but clean. About what you would expect for the price.
I'd stay again for sure.
- Wayne (4/5): Not Worth The Price - Won't Stay Again! - The lower unit around the back was in terrible condition. The beds and bath linens and towels were very dirty. The beds had bug remains. The bathroom was in terrible condition, the light above the vanity was busted up and failed to provide any light. The only thing in the room that looked semi-clean was the carpet.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Needs a lot of work. - Main issue was it was not clean, carpet very dirty and really dirty under the beds. Chair in room had a large questionable stain. Because it was so dirty, we did not use the shower. No blankets in the room just a thin sheet and thin bedspread. Two remotes for the TV but no instructions on how to use them so we only could get a couple channels. No amenities. Ice only available in the office when it was open. Outside of each room were the most torn up delapidated chairs that looked awful and no one would want to use. Did not have our reservations eventhough we had a confirmation number. Showed a room $20 cheaper on line on the day we arrived than we were quoted however, they did honor the cheaper rate. We only stayed one night due to lack of cleanliness but clerk could not process our second night refund so not sure if it was processed the next day or not. The woman who checked us in was very nice. The property behind it was large and beautiful which was the only nice thing about it. It could be acceptable if these issues were resolved.
- Sam (4/5): - It needs a lot of cleaning and spary
- gaylord (4/5): - Nothing to like. Building was run down. Our room smelled terrible. We had to go purchase Lysol and an air freshener and our own bedding and pillows because we didn't trust what was supplied. Bathroom was disgusting/dirty. We noticed toilet tissue stuffed into a hole in the floor where a plumbing pipe was removed. Lighting worked when it wanted too. You could see sunlight around and under the door. Whoever owns the motel certainly doesn't take pride in it. This motel is the only one in town.
- Mary (4/5): - Room was mostly clean but things barely work. Tried to use heater but it set off fire alarm, no toiletries provided. Had 2 rooms, one was roach infested. In one room water was hot enough to cause burns, other room no hot water. TV would not turn off. This place should be closed until improvements are made. I would have gotten a refund and left if I wasn't too tired to drive anymore.
- Michele (10/5): - It was exactly what i wanted
- Cindy (2/5): - Very unprofessional upon arrival. I asked where my room was and was told its around to the back. After getting into the room, I could not figure out the smell that was so bad that they had the window open before I entered the room, I had found some air freshener behind the TV, but it needed to be disinfected. I had to go get lysol, I had to clean the bathroom as well as the toilet was not even flushed and then I opened microwave and there was either food or not sure but I couldnt put my dinner in there. The room should not be available for anyone to stay, the patio outside had a black office rolling chair, I felt unsafe to stay as I was not informed of an adjoined room that the chain was not even locked, I went to the front desk and explained I could not stay there she never asked if I had a problem with the room only said nobody has ever had anyone bother them.
I feel as if I should have been offered a refund as I was there for less than hour as I had a wedding to attend, and when I came I immediately returned the key around 7pm. I had to go to Waukee to stay where I felt safe. I should not have to pay for a room that nobody should be allowed to be in, nor had to pay somewhere else. Im hoping to have this resolved. If you could please contact me I would appreciate it.
- Danial (6/5): Old but decent - Basic place to lay your head and take a shower on a budget. Hotel is pretty old (uses actual keys for the room lol) but room was clean. Would stay again.
- Sean (4/5): - Although the property was cheap and the staff was friendly, there were several issues during my stay.
Firstly, I made a reservation in June for a room in August, and upon arrival, it seemed that they didn't actually reserve my room. They told me that I was "in luck since they had one left," I'm curious what would've happened if I showed up without being so "lucky."
The room I did end up getting was dirty, with cigarette butts and bobby pins still littered along parts of the room. The bathroom had toilet paper plugged into a small hole in the floor, not sure how long that had been there. The sink also appeared very dirty.
Definitely would encourage staff to be more diligent about cleaning and honoring reservations.
- Kate (2/5): - The room needed massive maintenance. It's were broken, cracked and peeling - like the bathtub shower surround and the bathroom door. The towels weren't clean. The beds were cheap frames, no boxspring and a stained mattress. Very uncomfortable. My mattress was sunk down where you sit on the edge, so that you rolled to that side so I had trouble sleeping. There was less than half a roll of toilet paper when we arrived, and no replacement, so we felt that we had to ration the toilet paper. The phone didn't work. The room did have a working TV and A/C.
- Golf (8/5): - Okay, this is a family owned, small town, hotel. It's old. But, it has the hottest water in a shower I've ever experienced, which was awesome for me to work out the soreness in my muscles. The bed was very comfortable, but only had a sheet and thin bedspread. My personal preference is a little more weight for sheets. But, overall, no bedbugs and i was left alone. I can't ask for any more than that. I'll stay there again with the basic comfort and economy.
- Jerri (2/5): - I booked this property for my son this afternoon.
It had people hanging outside that were doing drugs. Property looked like a hotel with people who are homeless and live there long term.
This is not your regular motel.
My son did not feel safe so he drove out of the parking lot and left.
I tried calling the motel to cancel and complain but no one answered the phone.
This doesn’t meet up to Expedia standards, or mine.
My husband grew up in Adel/Desoto area so this was totally unexpected and unexceptible.
Please fight them to return my money.
- Jonny (10/5): - Great place to stay and it’s quiet
- Jonny (2/5): - This place has roches in my room. I have never had any problems with this till tonight.
- Jonny (10/5): - It’s cheap and nice
- Jonathan (10/5): - The lady that has helped me with the check in is fun and amazing. I will definitely stay here as much as I can.
- Justin (2/5): - The room was filthy and smelled musty.
- Julie (10/5): - Great price and . The motel was very clean and comfortable. The staff and guests were very nice and helpful.
- Raun (6/5): Okay room.... Just okay... - The air conditioner worked quite well. When I arrived I did not have two beds. So I had to request a roll away. It was quite comfortable. The woman who helped set it up was very pleasant very nice. She was very kind and helpful and brought me a Wi-Fi password. But the room was very worn and needed some major renovating.
- Julie (10/5): - The lady who owns the property is wonderful and she has the cutest corgi! She took care of me right away and even warned me of the door’s little quirks. The room is very clean, has a refrigerator and a memory foam mattress bed. I don’t recommend using the microwave because it looks damaged. All in all I’m very happy with the stay and will definitely stay here again on my Way to Omaha.
- Angela (2/5): - This motel should not be habitual, smells l, dirty and just down appalling and repulsive. I WOULD NOT REFER THIS PLACE TO MY WORST ENEMY.
I SPENT $50.00 on the room and $20.00 just to sanitze it and febreeze to kill the mold and firty smell. The celli g leaked. I could have spent 60 in Des moines for a more pleasant stay. My rating inegative 20. Just plain disgusting!
- Andrew (6/5): - The air conditioner was so loud that I slept poorly. There were stains on the sheets. The musty odour was overpowering. The bathroom floor had dirt and dust in the corner. The tv didn’t turn on, even after trying both remotes. It did have a nice fridge and microwave, though. Perhaps what I should have expected for the price.
- Julie (2/5): - For a reservation of four people, we had one queen sized bed to share. The lady said there were no other rooms regardless of our reservation for two beds.
- Josh (2/5): I will never stay at that motel again - The second night I found a mouse in my room in the garbage can. There were holes in the bathroom wall. Found a plug-in burned up where you cannot plug. Nothing in. I will never stay there again.
- Jaimini (10/5): - Pay for what you need and not more. You can park real close to your room. Friendly service. Simple.
- Stephen (8/5): - Checking in and out was easy and I was happy to have plenty of privacy.
- Harold (2/5): - Supposed to have met another couple here for a two day sporting event in an adjacent town. They called the property direct for their reservation, while I made mine thru Expedia and have the confirmation number to prove it. They arrived first and were told there was not a reservation in their name. They were also told there was not a reservation in my name either, and called me with the happy news. The night clerk confirmed all that to me and was of absolutely no help to them or me in finding other lodging. Then she decided, oh yeah, there is one room left and sent the other couple down to it. Filthy dirty, so they wouldn't take it. We all ended up finally finding lodging in Des Moines at considerably more money and less convenience. I would not try this place again under any circumstances.
- Carol (4/5): - It was okay I guess . You get what you pay for! I had a real problem with them not mailing me back a tube of toothpaste that I had forgotten. If it was just a normal tube of toothpaste I wouldn’t care. But it was a special one I had bought shortly before our trip. I called and told them I would pay for shipping. They told me no problem they could send it. Still haven’t received it and that was before Labor Day. I’ve tried calling them but they never answer. Very disappointed.
- DALE (2/5): - no room available when i arrived .
- Ike (6/5): - The good thing was that, we stayed at this hotel for one night.
The hotel seems to rent the rooms to a lot of long-term residents, which we did not have any problems at all.
We checked in the room at 3 p.m. and the room was not yet ready. The front desk allowed us to place our belongings inside before we went to do more errands.
There were a lot of flies inside the room and the blanket had not been washed. The woman's menstruation's residue was still on the back of the blanket. We had to ask for an exchange, which the front desk personnel compiled.
The room was OK but the staff had not thoroughly clean based on what we saw on the carpet. There were microwave and mini-refrigerator inside to store the food. Microwave took a little bit longer to cook the food. We believe that it started to deteriorate its performance.
The room had too many flies. We believe that it was the summer time and when the staff cleaned the room, the door might be opened and they were all coming in. We had to open the door and chased them away. We were so tired and decided to leave them afterward before going to sleep.
The next door room had the dogs and they continued to whine, Fortunately, all were stopped before midnight.
The hotel has no WIFI offered. The ice machine was in the office and they opened very late. Do not expect it. Do not trust the photos posted either because it might be misleading.
But for one night stay, it was OK for us. We will not be a repeated customer over there.
- Kelly (10/5): - It was nice clean and homy
- michael (4/5): check 4 towels - lots of flies to wake me during the night .
no towels but i didn't notice until i got up.
- Jason (2/5): - Very dirty. Left at 3am when wife woke up to a roach crawling on her.
- Ryan (8/5): - It was okay but rouku tv something problem with pop up screen again over and over .
- ashley (4/5): - The only thing nice about this location was the little bar and Grill across the street that provided excellent food and service. The motel was disgusting.. Our room that clearly stated no smoking smelled like cigarettes the minute we open the door. There was a water bottle and other garbage under the bed. The bathroom could use a cleaning with some disinfectant and maybe a mop. There was very clear grunge buildup and very evident dirt had someone ran a swifter broom or mop across the floor it would’ve made a difference. They were so attentive to details at this hotel that who knows how long the picture in the room had been upside down. As the one yelp review I found for this place stated “save yourself the money and drive the extra 20 minutes and spend a little bit more for the cleanliness.”
- Dale (2/5): - I can't review property, because no room available.
- Joelyn (4/5): Undetermined - This was a dive motel and looked pretty sketchy from the outside. We didn't stay overnight as they did not have our reservation and the manager was gone so we ended up driving into Des Moines looking for another hotel.
- Billy (2/5): - Rooms were not clean as expected, less than acceptable. We did not stay our full planned time as a result of this. Refund was easy other than they made us do it person after we already left.
- Misty (6/5): - Pretty much you would expect for $50.
- Laura (2/5): - Booked a reservation online through the Expedia app. No one was in the office to check in. Called multiple times and also had an expedia customer service agent call multiple times. No on answered.
Expedia could not cancel my reservation because it says non-refundable. Do not book here.
- Chris (8/5): - The bathroom tub was in poor condition. The location was further out of Des Moines than I would have liked, but the price was great.
- Erica (6/5): - Was okay for a night. Also said the price online wasn’t updated, that it was 10 dollars more. Shower was broken. Bed was very clean though.
- Thomas (2/5): - There were cockroaches in our room!
The place smelled like urine! You really shouldn’t be doing business with this place. Most rooms were rented out to people who seemed to be indigents and partied well into the night.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Expedia sent me an incorrect phone number for this motel and was unable to send me a correct number. As I was arriving late at night I needed to call and verify my reservation; could not do so and ended up staying somewhere else.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Girls vacation - Website needs to be updated. Was thankful it had a mini fridge and microwave. Has some updated features and tou can tell they are still updating, but also enjoyed the reto feel of it.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Rooms are dated,smelled stail
- Verified traveler (4/5): No go - Pictures are nothing like the actual place. Room was not ready when we arrived between 7-8pm. Seems like there are long term residents living there and they had to remove someone from our room. There was loose tobacco on the dresser and it smelled like cigarettes even though they attempted to cover the smell with air freshener. The room and bathroom was definitely not clean.
Two positives: the staff was very nice and the linens smelled fresh.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Reserved a room with 2 beds. Received 1. Broken TV and next to a noisy laundry room. Room was clean but old and very run down. No maitenance.
- Nathan (10/5): Enjoy your stay here - Good WiFi, Good Service, would definately stay again!
- Lori (2/5): EVER AGAIN! - There was a hole in the bathroom wall and floor. There was toilet paper in the toilet, a dirty towel on the side of the tub, make up on sheets and pillows. Absolutely disgusting. The room was NOT cleaned in between renters.
- Megan (10/5): Nice - The room was clean and quiet. The girl who checked me in was very nice and courteous.
- Harry (6/5): - Room was ok, but in need of upgrades and repair. Screen didn’t work, tile in bathroom was coming up. Noise from highway was bothersome.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Cops looking for somebody cars with flat tires in the parking lot the only good was the price
- Abdul (4/5): - It was very dirty even the sheets had stains on them.
- chev (8/5): Nice - Nice
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I was looking for a cheap place to shower and sleep in a nice neighborhood. I was so pleased, that I stayed an extra night. The owners were very polite and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not recommended unless you're in a pinch - A child checked me into a room that was already occupied or had not been cleaned yet. I was then given a key to a room that looked as if it was last cleaned or used months ago. Both glass mirrors in the room were extremely streaked and dusty. The shelf used to place your bag or other gear on was so dirty it turned one of their laundered towels in the room completely black when I wiped it off. The sliding glass door that is used for entry into the room was so dirty it has permanent hard water stains from the rain. The screen was completely broke and off track so if you want fresh air in the room you welcome bugs. The phone had no dial-tone and the WiFi didn't actually connect you to the Internet. There was a small fridge and microwave in the room. The fridge worked, but I can't speak for the microwave. The room also had a functioning and newer looking air conditioning unit. It was okay for one night while I was in a pinch. No way I could or would stay there ever again...even at $56.00 for one night.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel was run down and dirty. Nothing in room worked.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Was a dumpy run down hotel
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Low security doors. Heat didn't work out at least couldn't be controlled. No soap. No TP. Just felt kinda sketchy. I admit I didn't ask to get these things fixed because I was exhausted and just wanted to sleep.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - There was nothing good about this property. The entire property needs to be torn down
- angus (4/5): - wasnt even any soap in the room, sheets and pillow cases were wrinkly as if not washed, slept with clothes on and covered pillow with towel
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Nobody was in the office and it was locked hours before its closing time and we literally couldnt check in because of it.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Not very clean and old looking. Ended up not staying there
