Guest Reviews
- Vanessa (8/5): - Location was excellent. Train station, pavilion mall and the market were all within the walking distance and accessible. Wifi was not working from about 8pm onwards probably due to the market.
- VINCENT (6/5): Average Hotel - Nothing special about this Hotel, just close to Jalan Alor ... the view from the window was of decrepid old apartments.
Went to Restaurant level .. found it closed for one month for Ramadan .., Really !
End of story
- Alvin (10/5): - Very very good & friendly service, convenience location. Most of the essential tourist attraction, shopping area and transportation are with in 5-15 min walk. Recommend to everyone!!
- Sabarinath (6/5): - hotel is located near to many dining options and walkable distances to many of the tourist attractions and malls
- Paul (6/5): One night stay - One night stay
- Sally (10/5): Excellent for budget hotel - Vicky, Bohay, other housekeeping guy & restaurant guy were brilliant, very friendly, polite & helpful. For very low budget accommodation, it has all you need. Free bottles of water, air con, TV, good pressurised hot shower. A very central location, lots of food choices within walking distance & good quick transport links. About an hour depending on time of day from international airport by taxi, inexpensive. Vicky was very kind & let me check in once my room was ready. Feeka coffee roastery, 5 minute walk, very good ☕👌. Night flight, so very tired & jet lagged. Very grateful 🙏
- Swee Lean (8/5): - -
- bilal (6/5): - Not too bad, staff is nice
- Culture22562903681 (2/5): not good - There were cockroaches in the room. Dirty and old bathroom. And the quality was low. It has an annoying sound. It is not worth this amount.I didn't feel good and I regretted paying this money. The reception was very good.It has a good location.
- Jimmy (8/5): - Convenient to stay
- Mahmut (8/5): - It’s not Bad. ???
- Tien (10/5): - The hotel is very close to Bukit Bintang food street.
- Jaseel (10/5): - Good stay for the price
- CATHERINE (10/5): - Staff was extremely helpful. Woman at the desk lent us umbrella when it was raining. Nice room
- Mark (6/5): - 1st night of my 3 night stay was in a very sub-standard room. Thankfully, the female receptionist had warned me, and offered a replacement, which was good. Hotel in the heart of the rather seedy tourist strip. Everything very close. Budget hotel, but would stay again...just not in Room 207
- Montylado1 (2/5): TERRIBLE, STAY AWAY! - We arrived at the hotel to find that it was in a backstreet slum area. I was embarrassed as I was the one that booked it. The first thing we were told was that there would not be a breakfast due to renovation work. I never saw a builder or heard of any work going on at all. We were given vouchers of 15 MYR a day and we can cash them in at the end of the stay. There was no 24 security or reception. They left after 11 pm and came back at 7 am. We were issued a key card to open the main door and to use the lift. Your card only opens on your floor so if you want to visit friends you have to use the stairs. At night the streets were dark and prostitutes were operating nearby. It was close to where the action was but you had to run the gauntlet of massage parlors to get there. The view of the slum buildings from the window was so bad we had to keep the curtain drawn. On every landing, there were dirty linen baskets outside the lift doors. This is a permanent thing. There are dirty stained carpets on 2 floors. If you want your room made up you must tell them. one of the bedside lamps was hanging on by an elastic band. The swing action of the aircon was not working and it faced the bed. There was mold all around the bathroom silicon joints. The website photos are correct but carefully taken when it was brand new. No rooftop breakfast. Agoda is still selling this hotel with breakfast and 24-hour security. Shame on them. I have sent my review but they won't publish it. I had the same thing with Booking.com .com which is part of the same group. They rang me to say that the photos were so bad that they couldn't publish them. They did not want to fall out with their client. Too bad, what about the paying customers? To back my words I have attached photos.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not in a good neighborhood - Saw several rats when I was walking from the hotel to the KLCC park
- Chun Kean (8/5): - Overall ok
- Yingyin (10/5): Very convenient location with a friendly host - Very convenient location, close to train, jalan alor eat street (touristy food), 3 local shopping malls, local restaurants and great massage. Hotel has all amenities you need, reception is friendly with good local recommendations.
- Purity (2/5): - Rude front desk
- SHAIK IQBAL BASHA (8/5): Hotel in a vibrant area, without any noises !! - It's a nice and simple hotel in a very vibrant location. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping options around. Location is well connected to public transport. The exciting part is I could see partial view of PETRONAS towers from my Room. Value for money. Don't expect any prominent channels on TV. Staff are friendly.
- NNDR85 (2/5): Horrible - I stayed at this hotel 5 years ago, which was the last time i was in KL and it was relatively decent. I stayed there again for one night and it was horrible! The carpets looked like they hadnt been hoovered or cleaned and i had to wear my outdoor slippers while in the room!. There were brown stains on the curtains and the rest of the room looked very tired and worn. On the plus side the bathroom and bed was in a okay state so we decided to stay as it was late when we checked in and we were only there for one night. Our room was on the 5th floor, which seemed like they were all dated rooms compared to the other floors looking at the outside decor and corridor condition. My previous stay was on lower floors I wouldnt stay here again.
- SeowSiong (8/5): - Central located at Bukit Bintang area..
- Chan Foong (4/5): Horrible room - The room is terrible. The chair, kettle, lamp are spoilt. Terrible view. The toilet is old. The plus point is just the location
- Mikhail (10/5): - It is a steal to get a place in the heart of Bukit Bintang for this price. Athough rooms are compact, if you are a solo traveler this is the spot. 2-5 min walk from any kind of bar / restaurant, 10 min walk from shopping malls. Staff is amazing and super-friendly. Highly recommended.
- LS13 (6/5): Good location and price, Rare budget ‘boutique’ hotel - A budget 'boutique' hotel a couple of minutes walk from Jalan Alor food Street and the bars of Bukit Bintang? A trendy hotel stay for little more than £20, the price of 2 pints of beer in the surrounding area!? Can that be possible? Well, yes, just about.
The hotel is tucked away in a side street behind the food street and a strip of massage shops- when walking here you'll run the gauntlet of 30 kids per shop trying to encourage you to take an overpriced massage. The street is urban gritty but funky- all the buildings are painted in street art, including the Melange hotel which has a cute kitten peering into its windows. It's a thin, six storey block with glass frontage. After an elaborate check-in process and the usual addition of mysterious extra taxes you always get in Malaysia, we were assigned a room on the 5th floor. The impression I got having checked out all the floors is that floors 1 and 2 (shiney wood panelled corridor) and 3 and 4 (swishy curtain covered corridors) are probably better standard than floors 5 and 6 (painted corridors slightly stained carpets). However our room was okay- fridge, big TV, a/c, large comfy bed, good sized bathroom with separate shower room and the best shower we had on this 5 week trip. The room had a window with views of the city skyline over the rooftops and the scruffy tenement building in front. I enjoyed watching KL's infamous rats make their way up the side of the building and in through people's windows. Our room seemed clean enough but it was let down by easily fixable things like staining on the funky white bed headboard which could have been deceased insects or even nasal debris and unmistakably a greasy head print. There were certainly 'boutique' elements such as the storks painted on the ceiling and unusual wire bedside lights, which I think were once insects but have now lost their wings, but then the whole thing was let down by little things like the key card only working on the 10th attempt. We slept well though- the bed was comfy and the room quiet, although the window didn't close properly which allowed more noise in than it would have if it closed. Staff were efficient and spoke okay English. The rooftop bar/ restaurant looked nothing like the photos shown on here. There was no one in when I called, just 2 teen staff watching cartoons on TV. It's a good view from the balcony but you can only access this when the bar is open and it closes early afternoon.
With a little investment to tidy up small defects this could be a really nice hotel. However, I guess the conundrum for the owners is that to invest more may mean pushing the room cost up and I'm not sure mid range travellers would appreciate the 'gritty' city surroundings. As it is, it's a perfectly good budget option in a very convenient location.
- siokjin (6/5): Centralised location but the entrance to the hotel is quite dingy - The good: it is extremely close to Jalan Alor and Changkat with is good for party goers and foodies, the staff is professional, no deposit was taken from me upon checking in, checking in and out was a breeze, room aircond is sufficiently cold, bed smelled good and fresh, except for toothbrush everything else is provided including drinking water and instant coffee, a fridge and safety box is also in the room
The bad: the path to hotel is dingy and filled with weird foreigners who sleeps on the pathway, the hotel reception is quite dim, lack of parking and I had to park at another hotel located 10 mins walk away with no security that it will be safe, the carpet in the room felt old but thankfully it wasn’t damp and actually felt alright, after discount the price is pretty alright but additional charges imposed by the hotel caused the final price to be pretty high.
In summary, this is perhaps the best for its price in the location however I would not mind paying a little more to stay a little further where I felt safer leaving and entering the hotel. Perhaps more effort should be done to improve the surrounding of the hotel so guests would feel safer and more welcome and perhaps stay longer.
- Terence (4/5): - No proper signage to our room.
Our room is located behind the lift. But the signage for the room numbers is in front.
Our room number is not listed there. Who on earth will check rooms behind which looks like hallway to pantry or whatever.
- Thomas (10/5): - The room is small but has the facilities.
Can be noisy at night during sleeping hours.
- Kam kiu (8/5): - Good location
- Ai Ling (6/5): Interesting hotel at the back alley - Room was ok, well equipt with fridge, tv, kettle, mug, tea coffee sugar. Toilet was a bit moldy. There was no daily housekeeping in my four nights with them. The room i stayed in has a window that couldn't be closed or lock. I carried all my important items with me, but it did felt a bit unsafe even though i was on the 3rd floor.
- Qingyuan (4/5): - Convenient location and that’s it. Old tiny room with things not working. The top of the bed under the window and the curtain doesn’t cover over the edge of the window so you have street lights shining right on your face while trying to sleep. Would not recommend to stay here.
- TING LOONG (6/5): - filthy walls and carpets. shower drain blocked. electrical sockets loose, and risks electrocuting guests
- Calvin (10/5): Very pleasant accommodation - The room size was just perfect for what I need, and just a very pleasant stay. I’ll definitely recommend this to my friends and family in future!
- Verified traveler (8/5): 免费停车位有限 - 免费停车位只局限于酒店门前的3个车位。周末基本会被停满。需要付RM10才能停放在附近的街边。
- Siow Har (10/5): Directly behind Alor Street - Hotel is located directly behind Alor Street which is excellent, as you can get food easily at nights and it is a bustling area, especially towards the weekends.
There's also spectacular mural artworks in front and behind the hotel. The hotel is less than 5 mins walking distance from the Bukit Bintang Station. (Dark green line, entrance A).
Service from the front desk is impeccable. One can also request for housekeeping only when required. Love the glass bathroom in the single room that I had.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything is good. You get what you pay for the price and the ease of access to different necessary establishments is a major plus! ❤️
- Azri_Abd (8/5): Good for single traveller n good location - Stayed on December 2020 n booked for single standard room for 2 nights.
Pros,
1. Great location.
2. Clean hotel.
3. Modern design of toilet. I love the bathroom.
4. Friendly n helpfull staff.
5. Safe hotel as the access to the hotel required guest with card access. Even the elevator required card access. Thumbs up!
Cons,
1. Room small.
2. Pillow not up to hotel standard.
3. Only 1 towel provided
4. Stained on the bed sheet.
5. Wall lamp not working. I didnt complsint to the hotel as it is not a big deal for me and i dont want the technician to step on my bed again when fixing the lamp.
Additional info - During my booking of the hotel, I made a request to have a "Tampan" of room as i love a wooden floor. Upon my arrival, the hotel did gave me what i request for but its dissapointed me that upon my check in to the room, i found that the wall lamp was deattached and was on the bed (pls refer photo). I immediately report the incident and the hotel staff response adequately. Good job by the hotel staff. But what dissapointed me during the fixing of the lamp, the technician step on the bed when fixing the lamp which makes me to decide to request for another room. It is not right to stand n step on guest bed eventhough you just doing your job.
- Overall, this hotel for me is comfortable n safe and definitely I will stay again in this hotel. My suggestion to this hotel management, please change your pillow to more comfortable pillow and please be more alert on the bedsheet. You have modern design of room but your bed, pillow n bedsheet not up to the standard yet.
- Hanizah (10/5): - Sangat bersih, kemas dan sesuai dgn harganya.
- KubilayCoban (2/5): Just not good enough - We booked a room for 3 nights and this is my overall experience.
Hotel has great location in Bukit Bintang, no doubt. Price is reasonable, sure. Shower works fine, so far so good.
But then...
The room itself was dirty. Sure they had cleaned it but the carpet was full og stains, the curtains as well. The bathroom towels were nasty. The bedsheets.... full of brown, yellow stains and of course bloodstains. Not mine, that much i know. We complained about the bedsheets and sure enough they changed them, to another set with bloodstains.... The irony here is that you pay 100RM in security deposit for any stains or other damage caused by you. Hahaha....
The AC in the room was blowing directly at the bed which was not to my liking, but maybe thats just me.
Every morning at 7.15 they play LOUD piano jazz on the speakers in the hall, so forget about sleeping in. Actually not the worst way to wake up, just wish it wasnt so loud.
Now all of the aforementioned, I can live with. Its not the Hilton or the 4 seasons, and neither was I expecting this. But what I DID expect was a reception and staff that at least greet you when you enter, or at the very least understand your requests. We felt that they didnt care, didnt want to be bothered and didnt really understand. The worst part was they demanded we pay for 4 days tourist tax at check-in, when we were only to stay for 3 nights. I know this was on purpose because when we confronted the reception it was quickly noticed that we never recieced the receipt for the tax which clearly said 30RM instead of the 40RM we payed. At least we got it back. To me, this was the worst selling point. Will not stay here again and would recommend everyone the same...UNLESS you don't care and are just looking for a cheap place with a good location. Then this is just perfect.
- 814ericc (8/5): Convenient location - Pros:
1. Convenient location, two minutes walk to Jalan Alor and Bukit Bintang MRT station.
2. Good value room rates.
3. Room is reasonably clean and comfortable.
Cons:
1. Room lighting is too dark, you won't be able to read a book.
2. Odour of sewage in the bathroom.
3. The hotel is located at a filthy backstreet.
- yit kiong (8/5): So far so good - So far so good
- Knight (10/5): - You cannot ask for more from a hotel, great rooms, friendly staff, helpful security guard, central location easy to get what you need when you want. The only down side is I could not stay longer. Everyone that works there does an outstanding job and should get a pay rise.
- miamekarpuspa (10/5): Very recommended - Pros:
1. Excellent location! Just a block away from Jalan Alor.
2. My husband & I stayed in Deluxe room with king-sized bed. For the two of us, the size of the room was OK, not too small nor too big.
3. The bathroom was very spacious.
4. The breakfast menu was just OK. The rooftop restaurant was actually nice, though tiny.
5. Great service & helpful staffs, especially Miss Riza.
6. Firm bed, very comfortable for my backpain.
Cons:
1. I wasn't too fond of the bright-red carpet in our room.
2. This wasn't actually the hotel's fault.. There was a young lady hanging around outside the hotel, she was talking to herself loudly all day long (not to be mean, I think she was mentally ill). She didn't attack us, but we were a bit scared to go outside (while waiting for taxi).
My personal tip: ask for room on 6th floor. Best view & not too noisy. We could sleep very well at night 👍🏼
- G (2/5): - The front staff was horrendous. We made a request for early check in which was never responded to. We had no choice but to arrive at 10 in the morning, completely exhausted, and the lady at the desk informs us with a big smile that we can leave our bags at reception and come back at 2 for a room ! Someone else stepped in, thankfully, and sorted us out. That aside, the advertised free parking is three.lots. Three. These were all taken and we had to park on the road and got a fine ! Room was much less clean than advertised. There was I unflushed urine in the toilet bowl when we arrived. Terrible.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - the ceiling was leaking with water
- bhanukaj2018 (10/5): Value for money - I stayed in this hotel from the 24th to the 29th of December 2019. I stayed there as a solo traveler. I made the booking through booking.com. The hotel charged me 499 RM for my stay including a 50RM government tax. Also, the kept 100 RM as a deposit but, the handover it when you checkout.
The staff was very friendly. I went there a little early before the check-in time but, the staff managed to arrange the room even before the check-in time. My room was on the 5th floor. It was a quite small room but, with all the facilities you want to stay there. The room service was excellent. They arranged for me whatever I requested. This hotel provides unlimited Wi-FI during the stay. The connection is fast enough to do your day to day work.
Breakfast is also included in my package. The food is also good and the restaurant is clean enough. You should have to take your meal chit before you walk into the restaurant.
This hotel is very close to the Bukit Bintang food street, Burjeya time square, Shopping malls and also to the metro station. It's just a matter of walking a few meters whenever you feel hungry.
You can call a grab taxi to visit Batu caves, zoo Negara, KL Tower, China Town, and all the other nearby locations. Or you can just walk if you are interested in observing.
This hotel is a non-smoking hotel. But, you can walk out of the hotel and smoke if you really want.
I really like the hotel and its location. I'm looking forward to visiting there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent location - Small room but I was traveling alone so it was fine. Location is excellent, only a 5 minute walk to the metro and lots of food and nightlife right down the street. Staff was accommodating when I showed up early and very polite. Breakfast was simple. Overall would definitely recommend!
- jyong1234 (8/5): Not bad - The location is at bukit bintang so it's pretty near to few places. You can take monorel & mrt too. There's pasar malam at night just besides the next road. The staffs are friendly. Only the towel got some smell.
- irenegarnit (4/5): Three star? Quite bad standard - The staffs are friendly. But our room was not so nice. Its noisy you can hear the traffic and pedestrians talking. Also we can smell the bad smell from. Outsise ( near to garbage station and the sewer). The view from our room is nasty :( maybe nicer in higher room. The bed is old and hard. The pillows are old and they have lose the shapes.. Not worth the money for the comfort. Location is near to the metro and restaurants city center. In Bukit Bintang but in the less glamorous area. The room should be cleaned better and upgraded
- 294garryf (6/5): Satisfactory - It was a reasonably satisfactory roof over our head. Nothing fancy, and it was not a dump either. The fotos looked bright, shiny, new. The room was old, tired, in need of refurbishment. Not worth anything like the full advertised price, we purchased at a huge discount which was probably what it was really worth. It was reasonably clean, but no hand towels provided? The bathroom was separated from the bedroom with "frosted glass" - but you could see rather too much as it was not nearly frosted enough. So we used the bathroom with the lights off. We had a personal towel taken from the room - probably an honest mistake. We also had some clothing disappear from the room. The reception staff were friendly. The check in procedure is strangely long and tedious. Very close to the walking street for tourist food and massage etc, yet it is also in a reasonably quiet side street for sleeping. If you need a laundry, suggest you find a do it yourself (not far), the one opposite that will do it for you looks dodgy - say no more.
- Charles (10/5): - Nice small boutique hotel right in the heart of Bukit Bintang.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Service, location and fee are affordable and well balanced.
- david_omb (8/5): Bear in mind this is a budget stay! - You need to condition yourself and realise you are staying at the RITZ but a cheap hotel you have chosen.
Pros:
- close to amenities;
- 30 seconds to jalan alor food market which is unreal!
- close to shopping malls and trains;
- cheap if you plan to stay and sleep;
- relatively clean bathroom
- very helpful staff
cons:
- towels were in bad condition;
- breakfast (unless you wanna eat noodles and fried rice in the morning) is really dull... the rooftop was not very clean which did not really convince me to have breakfast outside and to be honest to finish a cup of tea and one kaya toast you do not need much time
- the location in the backalley does not make it very attractive;
- my room had a view on sewers and back alley bins where you could see rats and in the morning you wake up to the sound to people cleaning bins or drains with big lorries and machines.
I would maybe go again if I am on a tight budget but would opt out of breakfast. but to be fair again I chose a cheap stay and got what I bargained for.
- Robbie (10/5): Awesome Review for Melange Boutique Hotel. - It was an amazing experience to stay in Melange Boutique Hotel, the front desk is very approachable and courteous with their guests. They are informative whenever ask for some inquiries. Very passionate with their respective jobs, room was kept clean everyday.
- 754rossj (10/5): Peaceful Stay - Such a cute hotel, cleanliness and staff friendliness needs improvement other than that its all good. The hotel is also located withing the entertainment areas, food stalls and also the famous food street of Kuala Lumpur called Jalan Alor.
- dalliance47 (2/5): Lost the plot! - Booked Melange based on Booking dot com - which I am fast learning has no balance in the reviews it publishes.
The location is good for Bukit Bintang.
The building is reasonably new and the hotel rooms were once good.
On entry, the check-in experience is one of the worst I've ever experienced. The staff member took over half an hour to complete the process. Somehow, I had to wait while he completed paperwork relating to back end functions!
The allocated room was tight, but that's what I bought. Sadly, the smell of the sewer outside meant open windows was out of the question!
The bed was comfortable, but the aircon unit blasted it with air - choice, either sweat, or freeze!!!
The room felt and smelt as though minimal cleaning had been undertaken over time. The walls were now grubby and the floors ingrained with stains.
The bathroom was well designed. But, a lack of appropriate cleaning over time meant it was now less than satisfactory.
The killer was the breakfast. If you like cheap oily Malaysian food, you'll be OK. Nothing offered to westerners except bread and coffee (no milk available, only powered creamer!).
- - -
Who ever put up the funds to construct the hotel (or sell on) have selected an incompetent managerial unit. Until, or unless, the hotel gets new management and a complete refurbish, suggest you avoid.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel was very clean, its location was good but the area hotel was located there was very dirty and smelled very bad, shower was excellent hot and good pressure, room was small and the breakfast was really poor, that was the first hotel that tea and bread was not self service, and the worst in all my trips.
- nkTravellingSoul (4/5): Didnt meet expectations - Our stay at Melange boutique hotel wasn't satisfactory.
What I liked:
1.The hotel is at walking distance from some of popular shopping malls. Being in Bukit Bintang the place is quite active in night. There are some street shows and bands which play late in night.
2. The Jalan Alor street is two minute walk with plenty of food options.
3. The skywalk station is nearby.
4. Reception staff was polite and helpful.
What I didnt like:
1. The rooms werent well maintained. Carpets had lot of stains.
2. The breakfast was big disappointment. We couldnt eat anything on first day. We were shocked to see the same menu repeat next two days leaving us no choice but to skip breakfast.
3. The hotel is a crowded locality. Some of adjacent buildings block the veiw. In some places the garbage thrown from those buildings further dissapointed us.
Overall we felt we could have a better place for the price we paid. The only reason why we continued the stay was since we spent most of time out of hotel exploring the city.
- marylX9891ZK (6/5): Clean, friendly staff and great location - Pros:
- Staff is friendly and efficient.
- Simple breakfast is included in the price of the room.
- An easy walk 6 minute walk to the nearest MTR.
- It is tucked behind the main street so it's quiet.
Cons:
- To be fair, the hotel needs a touch up here and there.
Melange Boutique Hotel serves the purpose if you are just looking for a convenient location, clean and safe hotel to stay. For food, though Jalan Alor is literally 1 minute away, I would recommend going the other direction and head to the local 'dining cafes' for some local grub, may it be Malaysian, Indian or Chinese.
- Josie (6/5): - This is the 2nd time I stayed there. But the property ran down. Staff are nice though.
- majkks (6/5): For one day stay in KL. - Hotel looks much better on Booking.com than in real. Has nice concept and design, but is already overused. Renovation is recommended, including painting (I stay on 4th floor).
No hot water in shower!?
Friendly personel.
Rooms were quite tight, but fortunately quite clean. All appliances works well.
Close to MRT/Monorail station.
Nice options on breakfast served on last floor (nice view).
Hotel has lift :)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff very warm welcoming and give a good advise.
We will back later
- annehe (10/5): Excellent price quality ratio. Great location - First: the location was excellent, close to restaurants and nightlife, yet in a quiet street. The staff spoke very good English and was very helpful. The room was comfortable, the view from the window to the high rises of the city was breathtaking. The breakfast experience was not superb but we were not really counting on that. There was not that much food available and the choice was not great (unlike what seemed to be in the pictures of other travelers in previous years). We would definitely go back to Melange Boutique hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very good location, room was clean and good customer service but wifi is poor.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location and service.
- Dianne (10/5): Melange Single Room - The Melange has a fantastic location, the staff were excellent, my studio room was great including fridge, safe and self contained bathroom but my only issue was the room carpet really needed cleaning.
- Juliana Paula (4/5): Bag robbed or taken my mistake? You decide. - It was a good stay until the day they throw (or stole?) a plastic bag full of gifts for my family (food items). And the worse thing was the careless and rude attitude of the staff to whom I complaint. He did not even apologize for that! On the next day, again I complained to someone who seemed to be the manager, but all he could say was:" Our staff took your bag by mistake, thinking it was garbage." What? What kind of excuse is that? When I questioned him if the staff did not check the bag contents to verify if it was garbage or not, he gave me an even more amazing answer'" Our staff is strictly trained to not look inside any bags, so whatever they judge is garbage, they just throw it!"
For you who is planning to book a room in Melange Hotel....be very careful, otherwise they might end up throwing your passaport in the garbage as well.
- BH (10/5): - Fast check in but room numbers are actually labeled on the floor rather than the wall or room door. I had a hard time finding it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Breakfast ruins a great stay - The Melange Boutique Hotel is conveniently located near the Bukit Bintang MRT station in a lively tourist area of KL .The single room I stayed in ,was well designed ,modern ,comfortable . However all this is let down by the shockingly bad breakfast .This is a shame as food in Malaysia is mostly very good.AVOID eating at the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff were lovely, stay was easy apart from the deposit on card which meant even though I got it all back I still got charged because of foreign currency. The last night there were people running up and down which kept some guests awake. Breakfast was nice
- VC (8/5): - The room was cool and comfortable, and breakfast was OK. If you're just looking for a place to sleep and don't wish to pay too much, then this is the place! The only downside was that on arrival, there were what looked like 2 stray dogs at the hotel entrance and my room on the 1st floor overlooks a rubbish dumpster and dark alley. The only pluses are the location and price.
- xiaohe (8/5): Good location budget hotel - Overall good, with friend and the location is just behind the alo street, many food to eat and near bukit bintang subway. Room is small but everything is included especially the slipper. Considering a budget hotel, it is recommended but not suitable for business trip.
- xiaohe (8/5): Good location budget hotel - Overall good, with friend and the location is just behind the alo street, many food to eat and near bukit bintang subway. - xiaohe (8/5): Small budget hotel but good location and clean - Overall good, with friend and the location is just behind the alo street, many food to eat and near bukit bintang subway. Room is small but everything is included especially the slipper. Considering a budget hotel, it is recommended but not suitable for business trip.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice and quiet hotel. Cosy place to stay.
Very near to a lot of eateries. Spoilt for choice.
- Christian (8/5): Excellent location but cleanliness could improve - located 2 min away from the action in KL and from metro station.
nice staff. nice rooms but cleanliness could improve
- Max (8/5): - Hotel and room quite ok beakfirst was not good at all
- Verified traveler (10/5): Centrally Located - Carpet was very dirty with yellow spots. They should have an extra hand towel besides bath towel and a bath mat. Mirror in washroom should have lights right above mirror for ease of shaving.
- S.N. (8/5): Close to shopping area and eating place - The size of the boom is small but it’s ok for a single occupancy. It’s near the famous food street, just link at the next street. Convenient for shopping.
- chanaka (10/5): - Close to street food and to the public transport (mrt). Staff waw very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.
Rooms are bit smaller but didn't bother me at all.
- David (4/5): Don't bother - Very cramped room, no storage- had to live out of suitcases. Breakfast was mediocre at best.
- Alma (8/5): Comfortable stay - The staff was very helpful and kind. Room was a bit small and I was a little disappointed with the area as the surroundings were dirty, my view was a bit yuck, I didn’t even open my courtains. The location of the hotel overall is great as you get EVERYTHING right around the corner.
Breakfast was very simple, just 3 choices to pick from, I actually skipped bf 2 days :/.
- Alan (10/5): Great location, modern hotel. Excellent staff - Ideal location , ultra modern and super clean rooms.
All staff were excellent.
Bargain
Will definitely stay again.
- Debbie (2/5): - Someone tired to open our door at 5am. Lucky we have the door latch on. This is very scary.
- Steve (6/5): Poor WiFi - WiFi was slow to non existent, with constant crashes or unable to connect. If WiFi is important, you will want to stay at another hotel. If it’s not important, then Hotel is good value, located conveniently 5 to 10 minute walk to Jalan Alor street food, Lot 10, and bus stop for free GoKL bus. Breakfast is included, but the menu is the same three choices everyday.
- William (10/5): Oasis of peace - Beautiful little hotel just off the mayhem that is Bukit Bintang. It offered an oasis of air conditioned calm and was beautifully kept and maintained. Some quirky little features that I found entertaining (the M16? brass plated standard lamp in the foyer)
- Vincent (8/5): short stay at Melange - When choosing a budget price hotel, the toilet is the most important thing to me. It has to be clean, odourless, in good condition with adjustable water temperature. Melange hotel fulfills all of these.
It is 1-2 mins walk from Alor street, aka food street, which is great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient and relatively clean budget option. - All in all, very good except the surrounding area is slightly sleazy but it is a safe area. The hotel has a great location, 5 mins walk to Bukit Bintang Monorail and the MRT station. You can get from the airport easy. There are three (3) free Go KL bus lines nearby just outside Arab Square. Getting to most tourist places will not be a problem.
Food wise: Jalan Alor is the adjacent street with lots of mainly Chinese food options, touristy and the restaurant owners are slightly rude. Lot 10 and Pavilion Food courts are walking distance and have better value food with a wider range. If the breakfast in the hotel is not filling enough, there are nasi lemak sellers nearby where you can eat good for less than £2. Changkat Bukit Bintang has lots of bars and clubs so no lack of diversions. Nearby the hotel there is a self service laundrette with two 24 hour restaurants - TGs and Wynns.
Hotel room was slightly small but adequate and the bathroom was spacious. Really good aircon as well. Staff are friendly but lack the knowledge of the greater KL area.
Only down side was the slightly stained carpet. But cannot complain for this price and location. The bed was comfortable.
- Thomas (10/5): Good value for the money - Clean and comfortable, and in a convenient location. Searched 3 star hotels with 4+ ratings on hotels.com then narrowed down by location and looked at customer reviews. A good choice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel but situated in a non-salubrious area. - The hotel was nice hotel but it was situated in a non-salubrious area of Kuala Lumpur within walking distance of the Petronas Towers and the Pavilion shopping centres.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overall a pleasant stay - Everything about the room was lovely, spacious and clean, except for breakfast at Rococo Cafe. Such a beautiful restaurant with so much potential but maintained/serviced by incompetent employee. Cutlery was dirty, table was dusty, food was cold and of lowest quality ingredient... like cut-up chicken burger patty instead of actual grilled chicken. The waiter was just in the counter looking at his phone unless when there's food needed to be served. Doesn't even bother clearing away the dishes after guests had left so almost all tables were occupied.
- Daz (10/5): Great value hotel, modern and clean - I was very impressed by this hotel. I had a single room as I was travelling alone. Although the room was small, it was plenty for one person and importantly was very modern and clean. The bed was very comfortable with daily linen service if desired. The room had air conditioning, refrigerator, and television. I had my own bathroom and shower with soaps and shampoo included. The shower even had two options, one of which was a rain shower from the ceiling.
I also opted to include breakfast during my stay, which was at a cafe on the top floor of the building. There were three choices for breakfast, all of which were great. I also got unlimited toast and coffee.
The location is very convenient as it is quite central and KL's main attractions are quite walkable.
The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. No issues checking in or out - it was all very professional and easy.
Overall I had a great stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting KL!
- Hamilton (6/5): Good hotel in a dilapidated area. - The hotel is situated in a very run down area. We were on the sixth floor and the view out the window was not very appealing. It is not an area that you would feel comfortable wThe room was tiny and very basic. You will be better off in a hotel closer to down town.
- Sofie (8/5): - Great location, but I wouldn't go as far as to call this hotel boutique. A good base to stay for location
- Lisa (10/5): Great hotel, close to restaurants, shopping - Great experience lovely room, great staff, breakfast was good, would definitely stay again
- Single Traveller (10/5): Exceed Expectation - Room & Bedding is clean, well kept & amenities complete. Staff are very helpful & friendly too. Great service & ambience for breakfast at rooftop cafe... But surrounding neighbour can be a bit rowdy... with many pubs, bars & massage shops... ok for Adults... maybe not be ideal for family with young kids.
- trish (10/5): - Comfty and very clean. The location is accessible, too.
- Imran (10/5): Excellent stay - It was quiet satisfactory. the amount of money I paid and service I got was good enough. I love this hotel and keeps coming back
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay. - The hotel was really good. Stuff was helpful. Room was beautiful and I was even able to see top parts of the Petronas Towers from my room on the 5th floor.
Location is not very luxury, but on the other hand it is right next to the "food street", which was great for me, because I wanted to try all the different local food.
Only downside of the hotel is that the breakfast is the same every morning.
