- Alastair (3/5): A bad stay at the Burnett Arms ☹️ - The breakfast the first day, comfy bed and the bath ( once a plug was provided ) •There was no plug for the bath on arrival and despite asking two different members of staff it took 24 hours to provide one. •My wife left the hotel at 21:45 on Sunday evening to take our dog for a walk. When she returned at 22 hrs she found the outside door locked and the hotel in darkness. We had not been told this would happen and were not provided with the access number code. My wife was locked out, in semi darkness, in an unfamiliar town, with rowdy youths nearby, with no way of gaining entry to the hotel until another guest happened to want to get in and had been given the code. •As we had a room facing the high street and there were a number of late night takeaways close by the noise of youths shouting, car doors slamming and wheel spins kept us awake untill 1:30am. •I have never seen such a dirty toilet pan as the one on the half landing. It was black. •On our last morning we had ordered breakfast for 8am and had prepaid. However by 8:30 no member of staff was present, despite us calling out and looking in every location, and the ground floor reception area, bar and dinning room were in darkness. Window blinds were still down from the previous evening. We tried calling the two emergency numbers, the first was unobtainable, the second repeatedly went to voicemail. In the kitchen my wife discovered a pile of dirty bed linen, but again no staff. We had to leave for an appointment so we left a note asking for a refund and departed. At 3 pm we received a phone call from the hotel to check the card number they had was correct and payment was received 24 hours later. The caller said the problem was due to "staff sickness". When my wife told the caller about the previous evening, about being locked out, he did not seem overly concerned but did try to apologise. He said he would check with the staff to find out how this had occurred. Both my wife and myself are close to 70 years of age.

- Chalmers (5/5): - Didn't Sleep at all room was at the front and ontop of the main entrance heard all the noise from outside voices traffic etc went on till early morning, then occupiers of the room next to mines with no sound proofing heard them talking on and off from late evening even heard his phone ringing around 7am and more talking, l wasted £76 for a bed to be kept awake and to feel horrendous all through Sunday

We were promised a refund but that did not happen as we stayed for the time we had booked. We had no choice but to stay as we were attending a funeral and could not start finding another hotel to stay in.

- AARP (6/5): Good location in central banchory especially if travelling by public transport - Great locaton as the bust stop is at the hotel (we came out by bus from the railway station in Aberdeen. Indian restaurant across the road (owned by the hotel) is very good. Bar food in the hotel is good also. Under refurbishment and I presume cash flow is an issue. As a general point (applicable to many hotels) I do thin management at a quite time should allow a staff member to stay overnight and note down what does and does not work. There were a few niggles in the room (for example one half of the curtain had no runners on the curtain rail) that could and should be easily repaired at low cost.

- Karen (1/5): Worst stay ever experienced! - The only efficient person there was a lovely girl behind the bar, everything else was appalling No hot water in our shower, was suggested we turned the cold tap on at the wash basin before showering and that should solve our problem! It didn’t and at the price we paid I’d expect not to be in a room they knew had this problem! Serious lack of staff, service slow and disorganised, food was below average, breakfast was disorganised and what I wanted wasn’t available even though it was in the menu! No one available when we checked out, had to leave a note for someone to call me regarding my complaints above, still waiting that call!! Shocking hotel AVOID!!!

This hotel was the most disguisting and dirtiest place I have ever been in my life! 1.) In the toilet there was still the poo and pee of the guest before. 2.) The bed sheets and towels were used, dirty and smelled very bad. Dozens of hairs on the bed. 3.) The room smelled as if there was a dead corpse. 4.) Used pampers in the trash bin. We complained about the room, but the staff (which we had to look for) was rather bored and told us that there was no other alternative room available ?! 5.) A month after our stay, I received a traffic violation notice for a parking violation (parked my car on the parking lot of the hotel), although I registered my car at check-in. 6. ) If this is still not enough, the wifi was also very bad.1

- Rachael (1/5): Worst place i’ve ever stayed - Nothing!! Room was dated and definitely not clean. Wallpaper hanging off the ceiling, old bed sheets, just gross! Absolutely terrible service from the staff. A fire alarm went off at 6am during our stay, not a single staff member in sight for a good 30 minutes, then some random guy turning up saying he didn’t even work there yet proceeded to turn off the alarm. Key cards took around 45 minutes to sort out to get back into our room. Staff were so rude and absolutely useless. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

The Friday night entertainment 'Winston Smith' (lead singer) was excellent, you just to advertise him more to fill the bar and give him the audience he deserves. The location was just right for exploring central Aberdeenshire and east of the Cairngorms. The bed needs replacing as I feel it's seen its day It was too hard, and you could feel the springs.

The room was dark with only a small window with frosted glass. The toilet seat was loose. I found a member of staff to report this to. She said they were aware and was sorry it hadn’t been fixed. We were sufficiently uncomfortable we left despite no refund being available. Thankfully we were able to travel to a clean, comfortable Premier Inn.

Worked one of them and came in at 7am after a long shift. 8.30- 11.30 nothing but loud talking,door banging,walls that felt like they were made out of paper. Absolutely no consideration for anyone working nights. Even trying to enter the room with the “do not disturb” sign in clear view. 90 minutes sleep in 24 hours,checked out and would never even consider staying here again. I would get more sleep laid on the M8 in rush hour. The hotel needs some money spending on it, guy on reception couldn’t find my booking. Start to finish absolutely terrible.

- Margarita (5/5): Free parkin? Not so - Ubicación It was my intention to contact with Burnett Arms Hotel to ask about a parking violation fee that I received from the free parking at the hotel. It has to be an error as I was a guest during two days and in both days I registered the car at the hotel reception, as requested. But after seeing some comments from other guests with a similar situation I see that it’s not an error but a common practice. If this hotel has a guest for two days, both days the guest’s car is registered and despite that a parking violation fee is generated, or the system is clearly defective or they are just happy with the extra income. Just a warning for future guests about the ‘free parking’ for the guests

The constant music in the bar was irritating and the WiFi had the poorest signal strength I have ever experienced in a hotel. I couldn't even book in for my flight online. WiFi is an essential part of our lives, even when on a few dhing break.

- Christopher (8/5): Burnett Arms - mostly good. - We stayed at the Burnett Arms a year previously, so knew what to expect. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. The restaurant/bar provided a good evening meal. Breakfast was substantial and good. This time there appeared to be a major difficulty with the hotel internet. This resulted in the hotel car park company attempting to charge us a fine for the free parking. Hopefully this is now resolved, but it has taken a time.
- Nathalie (7/5): Bien et correct! - L’aspect vieillot, l’emplacement. Stationnement inclus. service au restaurant très courtois et le repas mac and cheese était délicieux. Chambre tout de même propre ce qui pour moi est très important. Lors de notre arrivée à la réception service du personnel pas trop souriant. Et la salle de bain la toilette n’avait pas bien été nettoyé un peu d’excréments. Par contre le monsieur de l’accueil s’est bien repris côté sourire lorsqu’il est venu aider pour fermer la fenêtre de notre chambre. Le repas était servi avec légumes du moment c’est à dire légume congelé mais n’a pas été servi en même temps que le repas car ils avaient oublié de nous le servir nous avons dû le demander. Et le coût 13£ Rien de grave bien sûr !

- Derrick (8/5): if it were not for the car parking fine we would recomend the hotel as good value and convenient - Friendly staff and good value for money CAR PARKING - THERE IS A CONVENIENT CAR PARK AT THE REAR OF THE HOTEL. WE STAYED 2 NIGHTS AND AS INSTRUCTED REGISTERED OUR CAR ON ARRIVAL ON BOTH DAYS. DESPITE THIS I HAVE RECEIVED A FINE OF £100 AND SO FAR I HAVE NOT HEARD ABOUT MY APPEAL. IF YOU WANT TO PARK - AND IT IS CONVENIENT - DONT PARK AT THE REAR OF THE HOTEL. THE HOTEL SAYS IT IS INVESTIGATING BUT I HAVE HEARD NOTHING.

- Danielle (4/5): - Convenient location to get to Braemer from Aberdeen and back. The washroom could use some renovations. The plumbing was finnicky. Window did not seal and so live music from the downstairs bar and the traffic noises were quite loud from the room. It wasn't mentioned in advance that morning staff would start late the day of check out nor that we would have to use an alternate exit since the front was locked that was tricky to find.
- David (3/5): Disappointing standard. - Location was good The hotel was very ‘tired’. It could have been a lot cleaner and was not very comfortable. The window would not open and the bathroom was unclean. A great shame as the hotel used to be a favourite place to stay with a great location with access to Deeside. Staff tried their best but it was short staffed

- Derek (6/5): A rather tired hotel redeemed to some extent by hard working and friendly staff. - The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food generally could have been of better quality. The hotel is adequate but it really needs to have some money spent on it! The individual serving at the bar was attempting to do everything, which just didn't work.

- Nelson (3/5): Comfortable, but would have liked a hot shower. - The breakfast was excellent and the location was good. Staff were friendly. The room was a small double which we knew about, however, the bed only had a single headboard, the other half was covered by two cushions. On arrival we noted that the toilet had been used and was not flushed, my husband had to flush it and clean the bowl, there was what looked like a coffee stain on one wall.The electric shower was not heating properly, came on scalding and after a few seconds went to less than lukewarm. No mobile network coverage and wi-fi poor

- Verified traveler (2/5): Awful - \Do yourself a favour and do not book a stay in this place. The outside is grubby, and the inside has a lot to be desired. The room allocated was dark, with only tiny window to the hallway! The bed sheets were clearly not fresh, and not changed after the previous guest, the carpet dirty, and the room smelled badly. The flush of the toilet didn't work. This was the first time in my life when I checked out before even sleeping there.
