• Lenneke (9/5): Best hotel in this price range - I have stayed in many hotels in this price range in Indonesia and this hotel was the absolute best I've stayed in so far. Very comfortable bed, clean room, good air-conditioning, all was excellent. The hotel is situated next to a very busy road with barely any side walk. I've tried to walk to places, but that was nearly impossible, I had to take taxis even for short distances, which I really disliked.

• John (8/5): A good value Boutique hotel - A very friendly boutique hotel, in a good quiet inner city location, close to numerous coffee cafes, including the famous Igor's, a great nearby gym and the railway station The room had no fridge but drinking water is available for free from a dispenser in the hall.
• Friejz (8/5): A friendly , clean Boutique hotel. - A small , very clean boutique hotel in a leafy street close to a good gym , the main railway station and plentiful coffee cafes. We stayed in a superior room, spacious, with comfortable bed , good soft pillows and excellent air conditioning. The only downside, the room has no fridge; free water is available from a dispenser in the hall. A buffet style Indonesian breakfast is available, which varies from day to day . The staff are attentive and very friendly. Overall an excellent budget choice of accomodation.

• farianac2020 (2/5): The worst budget hotel ever! - Poor maintenance. The bedsheet is dirty. The pillows are old, yellowish and smelly. The towels are smelly. The toilet tissue holder is spoiled and they just keep it like that. Poor housekeeping service. The helpers are noisy and keep chatting. They never refill items properly. Poor listener (when I asked to clean the hairs in bathroom). This hotel is not recommended and I won't go back again ever!
• Jim (3/5): Friendly staff and comfortable bed, dirty bed sheet and a bad service experience. - Rooms are smaller than they appear on photos, nevertheless it’s alright for just one night. Bedsheets were really dirty, full of (what seemed) old blood/urine stains. Staff was friendly but no one seemed to speak English. In the evening (10pm) the lights in my room wouldn’t turn off anymore. After calling to the reception multiple times after 20 min. and explicitly saying someone has to check it out someone finally came up, pressed the switches a few times and said to get a mechanic. Again, 20 min. later a young men showed up, pressed the switches a few times and disappeared. After more than half an hour I was called they could not fix the issue tonight. My question if I’m supposed to sleep with all the lights on and if I could get a different room was answered with “okay sir, good night” which confirms they had no clue wat I was saying. At this time it’s almost midnight, I had to get up at 4am and was really annoyed. Didn’t bother trying talking to the staff anymore or file a complaint directly. Honestly been such a bad experience that I will not book this accommodation again.

There were plenty of staff who were always friendly. The value was excellent. They falsely advertise airport shuttle. The breakfast is quite limited with few healthy options.

Everything was clean and we found the room to be quiet - we slept very well. Within walking distance of lots of restaurants and a good vegetarian restaurant. Free water filling stations which we loved! Good breakfast - would have loved to have the option of eggs but I was happy with toast. We ordered a fruit platter at 7pm using room service but there was non left - but we enjoyed some nice drinks instead.

• Richard (8/5): - After staying at another Neo hotel recently, i was disappointed with this property. The room is pretty run down, definitely in need of an update. The toilet seat was broken. There was this internittent pumping sound every 45 secs or so, coming from the rooftop or an adjacent room, it was annoying but not bad enough that i couldn't fall asleep. It did however had good hot water flow. The staff were friendly. The area was really quiet.

• Felix (6/5): Friendly hotel at a good location! - Good location, walking distance from train station and some cool bars (colors pub; our bar)! The receptionists were super friendly and helpful, even quickly changed the bed sheets when i called them (because they weren‘t very clean). The room wasn‘t well maintained over the last years and had a bad smell. But after leaving the window open and letting the AC run for some hours it was ok. Just put any creditcard with NFC technology into the plug (instead of your room ceycard) and you can keep the AC running when you‘re outside the room (also i put a coat hanger between the window to keep it open).

• abrahamhariol (10/5): Highly Recommended Hotel Stay to Explore Surabaya - I had an amazing stay at Hotel NEO Gubeng. They have an amazing location, very close to the city's center. If you love to explore places in Surabaya, I highly recommend this hotel as it is located right in the middle of the city. If you take a train to a nearby city, you can go to Gubeng station, which is only 5 minutes away. They also have a very nice breakfast, I really love the Nasi Goreng Merah. Would love to stay here again.

• Michael (3/5): We had a disappointing stay and won’t be going back. Not what we expect from Aston with whom we had a delightful stay in - The location was fine and initially the room looked as we expected. The blind did not work. I had to stand on a chair and manually tie it open. The AC did not cool the room and there seemed to be no airflow. I checked and found the filters blocked. I cleaned them and they appeared to work OK after that. I suspect the filters were in the same condition throughout the hotel. The cistern plumbing leaked and gradually water covered the area of the bathroom floor behind and each side of the toilet. The bathroom needs a thorough clean. The switch on the bedside. table light closest to the door was broken. I had to remove the globe to turn off the light. We were in room 205.

For the rest I don’t remember anything that I would like there. in general, hygene standards did not meet my expectations. Hygiene problems everywhere in the room. First, the bed linen in the room were super dirty with terrible stains. Upon our request bed linen were changed and we had to wait for a long time in the lobby for this. The new (changed) bed linen were also pretty used, with stains that cannot be removed even after washing. Regarding the rest: - in the bathroom - lots of calcium, rust and mold. Mold everywhere: floor, walls, tap, shower itself. - in the bedroom - dated furniture with stains and damage. Lots of dust under the bed. Sound isolation is bad, you can here everything happening outside of the room.
