Guest Reviews
- Tham (10/5): Amazing new boutique hotel by the lake. - Brand new hotel near airport. Requested a hotel pick up from the airport. US $5. Hotel is by the lake so go for morning jogging. A drive to downtown cost US $3 but traffic is quite bad. Breakfast is very basic so do not expect too much. The services are amazing as the hotel is fully staff. Will go back again.
- Jennifer (10/5): Couldn’t ask for anything better. - There is not one thing to complain about with this hotel. It has been our go-to hotel when we’ve needed a hotel in the northeast part of Yangon. It’s perfectly modern, plus near a lake with a nice walking park. It’s off the main road far enough that you don’t hear the traffic noises. The only thing I would mention is that the smoking area is in the hallway near the elevators. So if you get a room near the elevators it can be quite smoky. We always ask for a room at the end of the hall as far away from the elevators as possible.
- Michael (8/5): I would stay here again. - Excellent staff. Beautiful property. Lots to see in the area. History, history, history.
- Roger (10/5): Nice place - Great place, nice hotel, spacious rooms and quite
- Verified traveler (10/5): Promised Airport shuttle then withdrawn. - Hotel was fine, but trying to get the promised airport shuttle advertised on the hotels.com site for a different stay at the end of our visit has proved impossible. Although confirmed before we left, follow up email said can't have it.
- Thomas (10/5): Clean and modern hotel with lovely staff! - Great little hotel close to airport. We stayed here as we needed to go to airport at 04:30am. The staff were very friendly and organised multiple taxis into town at very cheap rates.. Big room which was very comfortable and extremely clean.
Would recommend this hotel to others looking for value near the airport!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Why Myanmar friend is not allow to stay with me - My Myanmar was bringing me around during my stays in Galaxy hotel and sometimes it quite late, so I am wondering why he is not allow to stay overnight.
Do I need to pay for my Myanmar Friend allow to stay with me?
Was the room rate meant for one or two persons?
I am suggesting it would be nice to add fresher to some floors, especially when others smoke cigarettes, it enters into the room.
On the whole I have enjoyed the service and the staff assistance during my stays. Thank you.
- Farid (8/5): - Nice hotel, near to town, nearest halal briyani (very tasty)
- Steven (10/5): Passing through the city - Great and comfortable place. The staff was helpful
- Bill (8/5): Arrived late - Arrived late at night and ws warmly welcomed by the staff and able to get a good night's sleep. EXCELLENT value for a short stay near the airport.
- Lawrenct (8/5): All good. - Nice clean place close to the airport. I would not hesitate to stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Staff: 10: Manager: 0 - The Lady Clerks and Bell Boys were VERY cordial and helpful. After two nights pleasant stay, I checked out at 8:30 for a day of sight-seeing and shopping. The Staff graciously allowed me to leave my luggage as my flight did not leave until 10:10 P.M. Upon returning at 7:00 P.M., I asked for a TOILET. I needed to "freshen up" before my 2-Day trip home to the USA. Instead, the Manager, without speaking, gave me a KEY to a first floor room. Within minutes, the Manager began harassing me. I never used their towels, etc. and left the bathroom SPOTLESS, even drying the Vanity (using the floor mat) where I had shaved and brushed my teeth. I returned the key to the front desk with a 10,000 Ks bill (about a third of a night's stay) the Manager rejected it and began using arm signals indicating clearly that he was THROWING ME OUT! I rebutted, "I am a paying foreign customer and you are treating me this way? I asked for a TOILET, not a room. I travel to Myanmar twice a year, so do you want my future business or not?" He continued with his despicable, disrespectful arm gestures. For the sake of Galaxy Hotel's Future, this Manager needs to be FIRED or at least sharply reprimanded and sent to a Dale Carnage School to learn "How to Win Friends and Influence People". Disgusted, Ben R. B., USA
- Roy (8/5): Not bad - Not a bad hotel but very far from the city area
- Verified traveler (10/5): Stay one night after arriving at night - It is a great place for one night right after the night arrival at yangon airport. The hotel is very close to the airport. And it is not expensive.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant hotel near yangon airport - Hotel is near a monastery, so can consider safe surrounding and only 10-20 mins from Yangon airport. When we 1st enter the hotel lobby and lift, gave a fresh and high-tech feel. Room is clean and comfort. Problem with bathtub height, need to climb to get in and out. Simple breakfast but different from other hotels as it provides porridge.
- Tim (6/5): New and fine for what I needed. - Large room, new hotel, good security. Food was ok. Breakfast a bit sparse. Mattresses were super hard and pillows could double as sandbags in case of flood, but all in all a pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent hotel if a little out of the way - can't really fault the hotel tbh. Extensive English isn't widely spoken by staff so my issues were caused more by the language barrier rather than by problems at the hotel itself.
The one drawback many people will have is that the hotel is not located close to any of Yangoons attractions and there isn't that much located locally in terms of shops/restaurants.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel is as advertised - I've mentioned this before but I'll do so again as Hotels.com is incapable of replying to emails: many hotels do not recognise Hotels.com as a legitimate entity. Bookings made with this site are recorded under Expedia (Hotels.com's parent company) with most merchants; and booking reference numbers for Hotels.com and Expedia do not match. This frequently leads to much confusion between travellers and merchants.
I would ask Hotels.com to rectify this but they either do not care or are too incompetent to fix the problem and haven't ever answered the customer service hotline.
