- Melissa (8/5): - I would call this a motel, not a hotel. The property is old and in need of some fixing up, which I believe they are working on. We had no issues with the self checkin. The room was clean, but definitely dated, the bathroom has been renovated, so that was nice. Bed was very comfortable, and I do not usually sleep well in motels/hotels, so I appreciated that. It would have been nice to have a TV in the front room as well as the bedroom, it’s never comfortable to only be able to watch tv in bed. Overall, we liked it and would like stay again, but please keep renovating.
- Lawrence (10/5): Happy - Our room (#9) was ground floor and looking directly at the harbor. Street parking was right in front of our room (8-5 only 90 minutes allowed) but was easy met. Room was spacious and clean. Looks like it was updated within the last year. Very convenient and easy walking distance to great dining and shopping. Highly recommend it.
- Jessee (6/5): - After I read the other comments, I was fully expecting to walk in to mold. We did walk in to a musty smell and a very rundown room. There's a hole in the wall where the doorknob went through. There used to be a fan on the ceiling but they took the arms out. The shower had dirt between the tiles (I hope it was dirt). There was also a hair in the tub (that's so gross, where else is there hair??). The beds were soft but one bump and the whole mattress shook. The towels smell like they were wet and dried in a pile. Parking is not guaranteed. Our next room neighbors were smoking and the AC unit brought that smell in nice and strong. I did not get into the blankets. The state of the room had me a little freaked out about what I would find. My husband did say his bed was clean (the only room left had 2 queen beds). We actually slept really well, which we were both surprised at. We slept in different beds because they were so shaky. The front seating area in front of each room was really nice. The location right across from the lake and views was beautiful. Being right next to Java Moose made my husband super happy. The general location of it was actually pretty nice. We used the TV to hook up the switch and we played at night to wind down, which was actually pretty fun. The overall state of the room is a little shocking and I guess I don't understand how all of the reviews talk about it and the owners haven't done a thing about it yet.

Thankfully i read the text message in its entirety as i inadvertently deleted it with the instructions to get in. Eeek! The cost should be under 200 until they update. Overall, the place is centrally located and walkable to everything. The air conditioner was loud so we did not sit out ,we just walked across the street listened to the bar music and the lake

We were arriving on motorcycles a bit earlier than the scheduled check-in time and texted the property to see what was possible, and the property manager was very generous and accommodating. She had the cleaning staff clean our room next so that by the time we arrived it would be ready. Room was modern and spotless, felt like a European aparthotel type place. VERY comfy bed, we even peeked at the mattress brand and took a picture because we might replace our home mattress with this kind. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Grand Marais, and we'd definitely stay here again when we're back in that area. Thank you to the property managers for a wonderful stay!

Enjoyed our stay. I was a little worried given the reviews, but at least this suite was great for our stay and expectations.

There has been some limited work done in the room to decorate but amenities are very limited. The tile grout in the bathroom has black, possibly mold spots. The tub has a yellow ring. There is no signage to direct you to your room. We tried to find an alternate hotel but nothing was available so we reluctantly stayed the night. Room rate was way over priced given the quality of the product.

- Steve (10/5): Lovely modernized motel - Very central location right across from the water. Plenty of parking. The room was very comfortable, clean and well-appointed. The owners were very nice and helpful. They seem to be updating everything. Bathroom was all brand new. They upgraded us to a two king suite so we could be close to our friends. The room was extremely nice! I would suggest requesting a room on the water side though. The rooms in the back off of the parking lot or less appealing while they still looked extremely updated and clean the entrance is not as nice.
- Cindy (4/5): Old and tired motel. - Old and tired motel. Carpets were stained. Window didn't open. Old paneling and drop acoustic ceiling. Ceiling fan with no blades. The cable tv did not work but we did get help right away.

But for $200 a night , chips in the walls, chalking around the floor,tub , shower and around the tile flooring wasnt done or finished well. Rust on the baseboard heater. I left a motel that was smaller and $120 cheaper thats was redone by far better. I left that one due to needing a refrigerator. Was it good enough to stay there yes but not for $200 a night.

- leah (8/5): We will be back for a longer stay! - On our way up the Gunflint for a BWCA trip and needed a nice spot for one night. This was exactly what our group of three was looking for. Excellent access to Grand Marais and no fuss. Only thing that could have made the night better would have been different pillows.

- Michael (8/5): Clean and serviceable downtown option. - This hotel delivered exactly what we need. Clean room and beds and right downtown Grand Marais. You can park the car and walk wherever you need to go. We are familiar with the remote check in hotel so it was easy for use. This is a basic hotel. No frills. No ice. It provided a very serviceble room that was clean. If you need more, it's probably not for you.

- Jennifer (8/5): - I have been to Grand Marais a handful of times over the past 20 years. Its beauty is never disappointing, the people are always so friendly, and I love the relaxing vibes. We have stayed in a few different hotels and cabins over the years. This time I picked the Harbor Inn so my mother could be close to the beautiful Lake Superior shoreline and right by town around the shops. It was the perfect location just on the edge of town but walking distances to all the shops and restaurants. The room was clean, the staff was amazing and responded if we reached out for anything, the view of the Harbor is absolutely beautiful. There was a little bit of a lake or musty smell but that comes with staying along water. It is an older hotel but they are working on on updating their rooms. We will definitely be back for another stay in the future.

Many places to eat right within the surrounding couple blocks, and could listen to some live music from a neighboring establishment while sitting outside the room reading a book and enjoying the harbor view. I travel a lot and that was one of the better mattress and pillow combos I’ve had this year; tip of the cap!

- Patrick (4/5): - Could hear everything from the people upstairs. Every footstep and every word. They went to bed at 12:30 and woke up at 4:30. They walked back and forth over my head until 6:30. I couldn’t sleep at all. Plus, the door and lock are so flimsy. I felt like someone could knock on the door and it’d open. Finally, there was no lightning in the bathroom. It just didn’t even work. Putting contact lenses in your eyes in the dark is not easy. I paid over $200 for this? Stay away.
