Guest Reviews
- R8128CAstevent (6/5): Average Food In A Seafront Location. - I came here after my Filipina partner recommended it.
The limited menu (see photos) has enough to satisfy most tastes.
The portion sizes were small, which is why I ordered a side of fries. My BBQ chicken was burnt badly and overcooked. The fries were very good though.
I would not come back here again.
- C9228FZandreaa (2/5): TERRIBLE! - The food is oily, burnt and basic or uncooked.
Zero taste.
The spaghetti overcooked and smell of plastic.
The sauce of carbonara smell of milk.
The prices high and surely not worth.
DO NOT EAT THERE!
- Johntravelswithlove (10/5): Live music every night - Before going to why not next door we chilled at the honeycomb listening to a live band and had a couple of beers. Very busy so dont come too late because you may not get a table anymore. Prices are good.
- Kruiza (2/5): Don’t eat here - The only good thing here is cold beer. The food is very basic, the service is non existent. They leave empty bottles at the table, the wait staff deliver the food in a random order. The concept of waiting on tables is unknown to the staff. If you want cold affordable beer I recommend (you need to get their attention for another). If you want anything more go elsewhere.
- BackPackerNotr289058 (2/5): Not a place for a good night's sleep - The place is for party people. The band playing the night I stayed was mediocre. They play till midnight and then afterwards you'll hear the disco music from next door and that ended around 02:00.
Location: close to many places of interest. The port is not so far (if you plan on going to either Cebu or Siquijor.
Good size room. The bedding and towels look old and dirty. Wouldn't hold on to the staircase railing (it's got a grimy feel to it).
It is relatively cheap and you get what you pay for.
- Dean (8/5): - Excellent location for both the ferry coming and going and its right on the ocean 50 meters away out the front door. Beautiful tree lined brick sidewalk right to the seaport.. Staff was helpful, room service and food was good and the price was excellent. Room was worth more than the price.. My wife kidded me about the view but at 15 dollars a night what can one expect.. Good deal at very least
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Cleanliness must be improved
- NANCY (6/5): - Interior room is too small, karaoke bar outside the hotel is noisy and needs new linens.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location is great, close to much of the entertainment and food venues. Down side, no hot water showers, no internet, no coffee pot in rooms, restaurant is freezing cold and opens late for breakfast,
- duebrick (8/5): Great tourist inn in the city - Loved my short stay here in honeycomb. Not only is it very accessible to a lot of places, the view of the boulevard in front of the inn is really beautiful.
Room and bathroom is clean that serves a quaint complimentary plated breakfast. The staff in the front desk and the security guard are friendly and helpful too.
My only complaint is that the bed sheets and towels looks very old already. Management might consider replacing them.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The Inn had a nice bar & restaurant and it was a lot of fun as they had an extremely good liveband. We stayed for quite long as we did not want to go back to the room. It is doable for one night but definitely not more than this.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We really liked the location with nightly live band and close to the boulevard for walks and getting to other places.
Personally we would undergo massive customer service training to the employees, especially the inside dining area and outdoor dining and beverage area.... you should not have to ask for food or drink everytime you sit down.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The hotel is located right in the city, across the water.
- douglas (8/5): - Good location. Friendly staff except the toilet that the water goes all over the floor
- Anne (2/5): - Cockroaches greeted us when we entered our room. And bed bugs too!! No complimentary bottled water. Small bottle of water in the ref costs 25php each!!
- Nilo (4/5): Find another place - Room I stayed was bad. Floors was peeling off. Shower fixtures not working. Phone not working. Electrical wirings exposed and a fire hazard. If I havent paid my booking I will not stay in this hotel.
- Kelly (4/5): Noisy but good location. - We stayed for 1 night so we were close to the port in the morning. The band playing was really good but it’s really loud in the room and the kitchen staff was directly beside our room as they all talk loudly in the coridor. Wasn’t the most pleasant stay.
- Mikepugh312 (10/5): Music Music - Probably one of the best music bars in Dumaguete* various groups, great atmosphere, drink + food prices , very reasonable, staff good, worth a visit we went 3 nights ; running" ***** You can sit inside or out and still enjoy tge experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A hotel beside the boulevard and night clubs - A standard room which needs renovation. Wifi signal is not available. The receptionist gave me a password for a wifi connection but that connection is too weak to connect to. There are other internet options available but the receptionist said that she does not have a password for those. Even the cellphone signal is weak inside the room as I resorted to connect to the internet using 3G/LTE, so I decided to go out instead and shocked to see that there's a band playing outside which lasted until 1am.
If you are into listening to a band at night or wanted to see Dumaguete's boulevard, this is a good place to stay on a low budget. It however needs renovation and repair on the toilet as the drain is blocked and water flooded while I showered. Only good thing is that they have hot shower.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The things that I like is the area near the beach and boulevard nite fun
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I had a room somewhere in the back of the ground floor. There was a window, but just looking at a concrete wall. No natural daylight. Very noisy place. Internet didn't work properly. For the rest, good enough for 1 night. Not longer.
- Joao F F (10/5): Feels like home - Lovely hotel that makes you feel at home. The location is great and staff is wonderful!
- SunsetbeachOz (6/5): Still lively - It’s Saturday night and the band’s playing. We’re all geared up for a good couple of hours of snacks, good music and icy cold beers all at a reasonable price and .... WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED. This place was really great.
- amackoz2 (6/5): Location.... its only redeeming feature - Location...perfect
Staff...only friendly to locals they know...certainly haven’t been to smile school
Rooms...adequate for the price...no wardrobe or shelves/drawers..have to spread your clothes etc on bed or floor...
Noise....band plays until 1am every day...we are night owls...so not a real problem...but if you’re an early sleeper...it will drive you crazy..
Restaurant...good prices...ordinary service...reasonable food
Unfortunately typical of Filipino hotels...maintenance and staff training are not priorities
In summary...if it wasn’t budget price I wouldn’t stay here
- janicep115 (2/5): Noisy - Right at the entrance of the hotel is a live band that plays until 1am EVERYDAY. Noise can be heard in most of the rooms as it isn’t sound proof. When we asked for another room, staff wasn’t helpful at all. If you want a good night’s rest, find another place.
- SunsetbeachOz (8/5): The food is still excellent - I revisited Honeycomb and was delighted to find the service and food, just as great as my last visit.
The food did take a little while to come out but it was well worth the wait. Located right oposite the water, it makes that evening visit even more special.
- Kimshields (6/5): Great location! - Very close to everything, right across from the sea. Staff very friendly & helpful. Hotel is old & run down but the room was clean. Band playing till around midnight then Zumba music across the road at 5am. We only stayed one night so it was ok. Not suitable for anyone with children. Breakfast included was quite ok !
- X5450SHfrankv (6/5): Nice vew and live music - It's a nice place for a beer every night live music at 9pm. Food is ok but not special and a small menu. Mostley quet bussy but not for food. Loads of expats come here. Mostley realley loud United Staters.. I was only in de restaurant didn't know it is a hotel to.
- O2687QMtoms (8/5): Incredible Location and Prices! - Spent 1 night there with the gf rather than party and then drive!
Our experience was very good. The room was clean, but typical older budget property. For a 1000php it's a great value! Wifi was decent.
Here's the pluses-
Location-right on the boulevard
Prices
Complimentary breakfast was good. Choice of offerings. The Filipino breakfast was rice, coffee, egg, banana and meat. I had the tocino and fried egg.
Live music at night with lively bar.
I'd definitely stay there again and recommend it as a good budget stay.
- doreentheexplorer (8/5): Thumbs up - I was hesitant at first to book this hotel because some reviews are not good but I obliged and stayed here with my family for 1 night. If you want to experience Dumaguete's Rizal Bloulevard, this is your hotel. It is located along the boulevard. The room we stayed in is the matrimonial standard for 1200 php inclusive of breakfast for 2. The rooms are decent, somewhat old since the house was built during the 1930s.
- 428trixies (4/5): Bed bug bites and stinky bed - Had bed bug bites after staying here! The worst!!! I've stayed at numerous hostels and inns around the world and it's my first time to encounter this. Gross! We asked them to clean our room, because my pillow smelled funky, and it still smelled bad even after they cleaned it. Will not recommend this to my friends.
Hope you do something about this, your location is perfect. Seems like the quality is deteriorating..
- rubyk183 (6/5): Breakfast - Had a large selection of food but mostly native dishes. Waiters seem to just keep to themselves and just wait to be called. Small restaurant with many other restaurants nearby. If you are not happy with their food or service there is always alot of choices next door.
- bangkok222 (10/5): Japanese restaurant - I have to say that this place has one of the best and authentic Japanese restaurant I have eaten at in all the phillipines! Very small only 6 tables , owned by a Japanese man . Exceptional to say the least , just like being in Tokyo . The only Japanese place to even try in the city .
- GerVoll (6/5): Dumaguete trip - The food is pretty good here , crispy pata , prawns were great , the roast chicken was just ok .
As a place to stay I didn't feel comfy there at all . They have live music every night which is ok if your into sitting downstairs watching every night, but if you need a quite nights sleep forget it as the music plays until 2am , the A/C was noisey and prehistoric .
The room was kinda ok , nothing to write home about and I got eaten alive by mosquitos .
For a budget stay I guess it was ok , but I won't be staying there again .
As a night spot for music and a few cold beers and a bite to eat it was fine .
- 347evel (10/5): Restaurant - Reasonably priced drinks and food. Food was fantastic. Wifi a bit hit and miss. Live band friday and sat. Beef ponchero looked fabulous. 12 treasures was just what the doctor ordered hit the spot. popcorn was quite big and great for two.
- David (6/5): Breakfast Refused - Very, very noisy. The worst was that we were all refused breakfast "because we had booked, reserved and paid in advance with Expedia aka Hotels.com"
- Arnt (10/5): - Altogeter å very comfortable stay in your hotel.
I do want to return. ... ex. eat your breakfast served by this prerrycharming girl (last day).
Whatevet...
- Shannon (6/5): Older vintage hotel close to nice boardwalk - Very nice lobby and great foods in the on site restaurant. It's obviously a older hotel but it appears work is underway to maintain or improve it. The staff was very accommodating to our needs.
- Raul (8/5): - Our experience was worth it, given the very affordable price and nice location.
- ELR (6/5): Noisy!!! - While this place looks quaint on the outside (presumably refashioned 1930s architecture), the torture begins when the live music/karaoke sets up at the inn's facade. This lasts till about 3am, though officially I think they pack up at 1m, the sound overspill from perhaps the next door bar is horrible. There is no sound proofing at all in the rooms. Also, they don't come in to clean daily (unless you ask them). In fairness to the staff, they are very friendly, some on the too rowdy side though when you're trying to sleep in and they're carrying on conversation between floors. The location is very convenient if you don't mind the male tourists preying on the local females but that's the city's character, not limited to this inn. Overall, I wouldn't write it off, there is much that could be done to improve it and keep it going.
