Hunt (6/5): Pleasant but lack of facilities let it down - Lovely sea view. Very close to the Donkey Sanctuary. Easy access No welcome pack - tea/coffee/sugar only some bottled water. Water heater hadn't been turned on in advance so no hot water on arrival and no instructions as to how to turn it on infact no instructions about any appliances. Mattress on double bed uncomfortable. Shaver point in ensuite not working nor extractor fan in main bathroom.

Sandra (5/5): We enjoyed our stay but would have been a lot better with all of the above sorted - It was a nice large property It needs a few jobs. Decorating. Patio doors don’t lock. It was very cold when we arrived there was a log fire but know logs nd all the plaster was in very bad condition behind it.. We needed to phone as the light did not work in either bathrooms or bedrooms we had to turn off bathroom fan at trip switch to make lights work but then the heated towel rails didn’t work. There was holes in one of the bath towels and no hairdryer so I had to buy one. I would not call it a upgrade apart from the size.
Cathy (6/5): OK, good location and size. Felt damp and chilly. - Nice quiet location with easyparking. Clean, and kitchen well equipped although I couldn't find a tray. Nice size. Very chilly on arrival. The property smelt strongly of damp. I had to put the oven on as well as the heaters to warm the room. Nowhere to put toiletries or hang towels in the main bathroom and the mirror was in shadow. The bed was a solid mattress on a low plinth- very uncomfortable and difficult to get up from. The clothes I unpacked into the drawers felt clammy after a couple of days. This property is probably great over summer but needs improvement to let out over the colder months. The WiFi was non existent.

The sittings room windows didn't open and with having a dog I didn't want to have to open the patio doors to get some air in as it's stuffy in there. Front draw in bathroom was broken off. Jacuzzi bath didn't work. The place could do with a deep clean on the fire vent, bathroom shower doors, a new toilet seat is needed

Paul (8/5): Snowdrop - Snowdrop was well placed for a good viewand comfortable and cosy. The donkey sanctuary next door is a fantastic bonus for walking and relaxing. Access across poorly developed roadways access to lodge requires you to walk across a grassy slope. Slippery and messy when wet. There are no facilities in hall for wet clothes and shoes. Extractor fan in main bathroom works poorly no cleaning products for bathrooms. En suite shower plug blocked that we cleared with bleach. No means of drying clothes except drying rack a washer dryer or outside drying would help. Excellent kitchen appliances but cooking equipment is showing signs of wear and tear, frying pan is flaking Teflon and pan handles loose. Realistically there is no possibility of using Internet access on this site and phone access is unreliable. A more modern television which allowed access to radio stations and had inputs that allowed guests to bring there own media such as memory sticks or DVDs would be useful. The TV would need to be sited allowing this access, at present it is attached to a wall which limits access for plug in media has no visible HDMI slot. A number of the inserted spotlights are failing and flashing. The above comments are intended to be helpful rather than criticism.it The unfinished gable end gave a poor first impression on arrival but didn't spoil our stay.

Kirsty (6/5): Good value, needs improving - Excellent location - quiet, right next to the donkey sanctuary, beautiful views of the surrounding area. Small but well stocked kitchen (although no tin opener, so if you take tins, make sure they have ring pulls!). Plenty of room in the property. Plenty of space for clothes. Nice little patio area with picnic table for outdoor dining. Nice hot shower in ensuite. Overall, good value for a week in August. The beds are probably the most uncomfortable we have ever used. My husband and I ended up sleeping on the sofas as our sleep was interrupted so badly on the extremely hard mattresses. The welcome email states that the property is wheelchair friendly, which is true to an extent with plenty of room inside for a wheelchair to move about, but the property DOES NOT have step free access. There are 4 entrances into the property (front door, patio doors and a door each in both of the bedrooms) and they all have a step, so would need a ramp or to be lifted over to gain access to the property. The bin in the kitchen (pardon the pun) is rubbish! The lid is broken, which means you have to use two hands to open it, which is tricky when you are cooking and trying to keep your hands clean! Seems a bit nit picky to mention, but as we were using the kitchen almost exclusively to keep our spending to a limit, it had a big impact on our experience. It needs to be changed for a pedal lid bin. The listing states there is WiFi, but we were unable to access it, so it should be taken off as this is not true. We were told the details of the WiFi in the welcome email, but we were unable to log onto the network at any point on any of our devices, despite trying at different times of the day. The 'jacuzzi' bath tub was not working at any point, and there was no phone number to contact someone to try and get it fixed. The back patio doors are broken and are very difficult to open. It needs to be mended as someone might hurt themselves or damage it further by trying to open it. The windows in the living room do not open as there is no key. We had to leave the patio doors open during a warm summer week which was not ideal as we had our dog with us, so had to keep a constant eye on her so she didn't roam outside.

samantha (4/5): Disappointing - When I contacted the owners they did try to help with issues we had. The property was not as advertised. There was no view due to the garden being overgrown, and there was not ample seating outside to seat 6 people, unless it was at an old rotten garden bench. There were bits of sheeting laid around the garden, and there was dog mess in the garden when we got there!!!! The property had clearly not been cleaned properly, with cobwebs, dirty walls and dirty floors in the bathrooms, along with a bad leak in one of them causing a terrible smell. Under the dining table was covered with crumbs, as were the chairs. The shower controls did not work so the water was just red hot and couldn't be cooled down. The description of the property said there wee 2 sofa beds, which there were not, there was only 1. The crockery and oven tins needed washing before we used them. The whole place smelt musty. The WiFi was not working when we arrived and we had to wait a couple of days for it to be looked at. This wasn't ideal, as we picked the property for that purpose, for work and contact with family etc. The property was generally very tired, all the furniture was rickety and cheap, with shelf brackets missing in one wardrobe so the shelf wobbled about all over the place, and the bedside tables were damaged on the top. Just needs a real revamp. Disappointed with the property compared to the description.

The bungalow is well equipped and comfortable. Plenty of parking space. As there is hardly any phone signal, it would be good to have accessible Wi-Fi.

Susi (7/5): Good - We like the privacy especially in the garden area and the accomodation was very spacious. Unfortunately the hot tub cannot be turned down so remains on 40 and can get very hot. The owner told us to just put cold water in. We were greeted with several cellar spiders in most rooms so had to get rid of them due to a family member preferring not to share his time there with them. The TV is described as a smart TV but this wasn't so we couldn't have Netflix etc if we wanted too of an evening. The wifi was terrible. We had to buy new goody bags for data.so a smart TV wouldn't have been good anyway. There were many utensils but one important one not included which were tongs. So cooking meant using 2 forks to flip things. I know this sounds trivial but considering how well equipped it was this seemed odd. Also the water in both showers were mostly far too hot and again the temperature couldn't be changed. My 12 yr old found this difficult as did I so we had to be inventive when washing.

Great for my dog, lovely (challenging 1.2 mile walk to Weston Beach) downhill...then 1.2 miles all uphill coming back! Quiet location. Absolutely no WiFi. No phone signal (or sporadic) Having needed to work was very disappointed no one helped fix the clearly broken WiFi box. Being told to go to the donkey sanctuary to get WiFi was not a problem solver. Whilst I understand WiFi in the area can be difficult, the property should advertise the fact that 99% of the time, it doesn't work! The property was tired, old extension plugs everywhere. The lounge area was not clean. Biscuit wrappers behind and under the sofa, along with a multitude of items I didn't go near. They are electric sofas and whilst outside I noticed the rubbish. (Im not sad enough to lift sofas!) The outdoor bench was in terrible condition and not safe to sit on. No BBQ. This property (if done like the attached neighbours) would be amazing. A refresh is required. If done, I would go back...but not if I had to work!

It is just next to the donkey sanctuary which is well worth a visit - and they have a great restaurant (lovely breakfast!) Wi-Fi would be a great asset as the phone signal is poor. The track leading to the property is very rough - this does make everyone drive slowly but our car is quite low and grounded in some places.
Cristina (4/5): Moldy and dirty - location was great and the view was amazing the place had not been cleaned properly at all, the sofa covers were filthy and smelled bad, everywhere was dusty. Worst of all was the mold! Mold everywhere in the cottage, specially accumulated around the windows, and even inside the washing machine belt, one of the reason for booking this was actually access to the washing machine, so that we could wash our clothes, but it was just filthy and moldy, wandering how it even got to that state, specially as the description says that it gets a thorough clean after every guest, guessing the cleaner just is not asked to look after the mold which is always an easy fix. Additionally, there was no shower curtain in the main bathroom. There was a shower in the small room (en suit), but we couldn't access it to disturb my brother who was staying there, so we struggled to shower in the bath tub, a shower curtain should be essential. Once again, mold in the tiles' silicone. Also, hand soap was almost empty, and there was hair in the floor...... overall not a place we felt comfortable in because of the strong mold smell and it hand't been cleaned properly

The proximity to the donkey sanctuary was a bonus it's café is stupendous! The main access route on to the site could do with the potholes being filled. The wi-fi is intermittent at best as was the mobile reception and a long handled brush would have been useful. A list of useful stuff would have been nice too like a quick guild to the cooker and dish washed and a reminder of the internet password. Also an emergency number to call "just in case". These things are why the property gats an 8 not a 10.

Sara (10/5): Exceptional - We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers (13 and 16). We loved Stoneleigh, a great location for exploring the south coast. It's in quiet countryside, but 10 minute drive to Sidmouth, 20 mins to Lyme Regis, and plenty of other coastal villages in between. In the week we also visited Stone Henge, the Eden project, the Seaton tramway, had a tour of the Norman Lockyer Observatory (not to be missed) and caught a show at Sidmouth folk festival. There was still plenty of time to enjoy the garden (and hot tub), and relax in tranquil surroundings. All of the beaches are stony, but that won't stop the dedicated swimmer, we swam at 4 different beaches. The house had everything for our needs. We arrived late and phoned late having not read the instructions correctly. We got a perfect response and directions to get in. Lidl in Sidmouth is the handiest for shopping. The Donkey sanctuary next door is free to visit, and does good food until 3pm, and coffee! Only a couple of minutes walk. You can walk down to the beach via the donkey sanctuary, it's about 20 mins walk down, and 25 back up, lots of steps, but beautiful. All in all a great place to stay. Honestly I have no complaints. You do need to be aware that you need a car staying here, and it's not walking distance to any pubs. We knew this and was great for us.

Ladyp (8/5): Good, relaxing time - Angelica - No 73. - The Holiday Bungalow is spacious, light and comfortable. Kitchen is fitted well with Dishwasher/Washing Machine etc. Loved the fact it is a great place to chill and relax also a good base to travel to surrounding areas. Sidmouth, West Bay/Bridport, Branscombe etc. The site is very Dog Friendly and has a vast grassy area (dogs on leads) The Donkey Sanctuary is very close. There is also a Dog Field (Westy and Worzels) to hire cheaply nearby. Angelica - No 73 - There is no WI FI for those that would require it. A few general maintenance checks needed - cooker hood light/microwave turntable/hoover/patio doors/freezer compartment/mat grippers/patio furniture (or cushions)/Sky lights could do with good clean. Stoneleigh Park Site - Large, deep, potholes - these have been highlighted before in previous reviews, but not addressed and would be a problem for some vehicles. General upkeep of site is poor. for such a great site in perfect location. Quite depressing on arrival and venturing around, such a shame for those that are private and the holiday homes that have kept their bungalows in good condition. General Grass/Hedge cutting all around/Updated Notice Board at Entrance/Building Site areas would enhance the Park considerably.
Railway23 (8/5): Not As Expected But Comfortable and Good Location - The bungalow was open and spacious which was ideal for my Mum who is recovering from major leg surgery. Comfortable beds, very clean and parking close to bungalow. Great location especially so close to the Donkey Sanctuary . Good value for money. We were disappointed that the description states sea view but the bungalow did not have one. Overall it was a bit tired really. The certificate showing 4 stars was dated 2016. I am not sure I would class as that now. More mugs would be helpful and some updated utensils are needed really. The washing machine water pressure was very low and it fills with a dribble. The WiFi is very weak. Not sure if that could be improved though. The shower cubicle door has been broken in the past and a curtain has been put up which is not ideal.
Esme (5/5): Stressful - worrying that a customer may be trying to contact me (I'm a consultant safety engineer). - It was good to be near the Donkey Sanctuary especially for my grandson and beaches were quite close. There was no wi-fi most of the time and, because of my work, this is essential to me. I would not have booked if they had warned me that wi-fi was almost non-existent. There was very little crockery (only 3 mugs for instance) which made a dishwasher redundant ! No larger bowls no jugs and only a one-cup cafetier. The fan in the oven had become unattached and, as it made a lot of noise and we were worried that using it would cause further damage, we had no oven. There was no book of info about how everything worked, local services/shops/eateries etc. as one usually finds at holiday lets, although the info given on the website said there was. The television had no "catch-up" - ie it was not digital. Probably because, having no wi-fi meant it would have been useless anyway!

Comfy beds. Amazing views. Good value It was a semi detached property. You could literally hear everything the neighbours said. Walls paper thin. Glad they weren’t too noisy but on one night they chatted into the early hours! No outdoor furniture other than very worn picnic bench. And actual site very unkept. Roads need repairing.

Paint peeling off walls over bath. And even fell off whilst having a bath!!!double bed very uncomfortable and obviously hadn’t been changed in. While. We went early season and very tired and worn mattress. Needs changing annually!! Whole site needs attention, very run down and messy. Even sign on road at entrance was shocking!!! Needs to close and have money spent on to tidy up whole site and then re open. Also move the old machinery lying around in field. Whoever owns site obviously not bothered about first impression or getting good feedback. Over priced accommodation.

However the site seems very rundown with entrance road almost impassable due to holes and ruts. Some of the buildings look very uncared for The property needs some attention to smarten it up. Walls seemed dirty in places . The bathroom floor badly needed some attention. Some of the towel’s left for us were stained. The tv was very poor and could due with replacing. The colour was very dark and couldn’t be adjusted. Where the rubbish bins were located , they were alive with rats

Both bedrooms have double doors to the outside, and NO windows. Nobody is going to sleep with the doors open. The fridge is too small and very difficult to get at.

Contacted Bill who arranged for universal remote which was delivered the next day. Something was wrong, however, with the sound - very “tinny”. Also kitchen tap kept on dripping which I reported.

Adrienne (7/5): Good - Location of the property within the grounds. Very quiet location, yet not far from anywhere. Open plan kitchen, dining room & lounge worked very well. Always had hot water when needed. Very uncomfortable bed. Very uncomfortable sofa, but chairs were OK.
Raymond (8/5): All in all reasonably good accommodation at a fair price. - Nice and quiet location. Complete inventory, everything you might need is there. Cottage needs some inside and outside maintenance. Pergola is rotten in dome area's, and will likely fall apart when leaned on. The gravel paths on the site, leading to the cottage, are really awful, full of unnecessary potholes. Furthermore, the reception is closed, nobody there. The site looks like it's becoming abandoned.
Zoe (5/5): Passable - Good location. Comfy beds. Good to have washing machine and dishwasher. Lightbulbs in lounge not working. Curtain rails in lounge barely attached to wall so we didn't dare close the curtains in case they fell down. Large patch of peeling paint in the bathroom by the the bath. Patches of mildew in hall, bedrooms and bathroom. Rotten skirting board and mouldy wall in hall by bathroom (where shower is presumably leaking). Broken clothes airers and armchair and sofa have rips in them. Dog hair in lounge rug.
Julie (10/5): Peaceful location - Loved how peaceful and quiet it was, the donkey sanctuary is within walking distance and a great place to visit we loved it, beautiful walks and nature reserves in the surrounding area, holiday home was spacious, very well equipped and clean, the beds we’re very comfortable and bedding and towels immaculate, we had a wonderful weeks stay thank you.
Joanne (8/5): Idilic Devon holiday. - Our cottage was spacious, well equipped - washer/dryer, dish washer with tablets on the side. Plenty of cooking equipment, the space outside was lovely and the children enjoyed playing outside. The beds were comfy and the bathroom had a lovely bath. The large dining room table was enjoyed by all, eating and playing games. Loved been next door to the donkey sanctuary. The walk from the donkey sanctuary to Weston beach is a must. The spiders! Mushrooms growing out of the tiles in the bathroom, we had to remove them. The shower head was grim, the shower skirt kept falling off. The place wasn't as clean as I would have liked but I am very picky with cleanliness, it didn't spoil anything but a bit of a better dust and hoover would have been nice, especially underneath and behind furniture. The towels and bedding were really clean and fresh. The kitchen, oven dishwasher and washing washing machine were clean, it was just the finer details. The property and site needed some maintenance to make it truly beautiful. The swimming pool and bar going back would make it a perfect family site.
Justine (8/5): Enjoyed the location and nice house. - Lovely modern property. Suitable for 3 people. Good contact with owner. The pull out bed took up all of the 2nd bedroom and there was no room whatsoever. It would have been better with a sofa bed in the lounge. No WIFI for entire stay. Could do with ceiling cobwebs being cleaned. Patio needed weeding and better garden furniture needed. The grounds are tired and need a good garden tidy up
Sara (8/5): Lovely time was had. Location to donkey sanctuary walkable. Nice space in the enclosed garden - Spacious, hot tub and well equipped kitchen Mould in the bathroom and en-suite. It smelt damp.
Jade (7/5): Great location but needs some TLC - The village is situated in a lovely location with lots to see and do close by The rooms themselves could have done with a little bit of modernization and some general TLC.
