Guest Reviews
- Lesley (8/5): Pleasant ,comfortable and we would return and recommend..Staff are all lovely and very helpful. - All round pretty good for the type of hotel
Liked the free drink for not requiring room service every day Food was ok but not exceptional.and the request for vegetables to be fully cooked not “raw” seemed to be alien to the kitchen staff.😂.
I had Fish pie on the first night advertised as homemade but the sauce had “split” ….indicating that it seen a microwave for too long.
- Denis (8/5): -
- Steve (10/5): - very clean all staff very friendly even the people who live around the area. would definitely stay there again nothing
- ThePageFamily (10/5): A Lovely Overnight Stay in Knaresborough - I dropped my son off for University over in Leeds and was on my way to mother-in-law in Hull. So, I decided to have a night in Knaresborough. And what an absolutely wonderful area it is!
Check-in was easy and friendly.
My single room didn't have the greatest view - the kitchen/building ventilation pipework directly outside. But, apart from that, bed was good, shower lovely and bathroom great. I had a good night's sleep!
Parking was available but not guaranteed so you could be unlucky if they are busy! I was lucky and got a space.
I ate downstairs in the bar/restaurant. The dinner was very good as was my "help yourself" cooked breakfast the next morning. I also popped out for a few at "Blind Jacks" - a really decent (beer) pub!! Highly recommended if you like proper beer.
I managed a 6 mile run around the area that night (found a Strava route by the Knaresborough Striders) and realised it was a lovely area. The following day I managed a lovely 8 mile or so walk along the River Nidd. All was good.
- Katie (9/5): A nice relaxed overnight stay with my hubby ☺️ - Love the building, location, decor, staff. Clean. I have been twice and will will visit again. ☺️ None
- nigel (9/5): Enjoyed the full experience - Breakfast was excellent Nothing
- Stephen (5/5): Dog friendly too far - Room was small but the bed was comfortable. Staff were very pleasant. We were very puzzled by the arrangement of tables in the hotel. When we arrived every table was reserved. We were not quite sure why, but accepted the situation. We booked in, had a drink and ate elsewhere.
We were disgusted to see a dog sitting on a bench in restaurant with its owner for evening meal and yet again for breakfast the next morning.
We understand “dog friendly” but this is one step too far.
Dog hairs around the doorways just reinforced the pandering to the entitled dog owner. We will not be returning.
- michael (7/5): Nice, wish bfast had started a little earlier - Had to miss bfast as needd to leave before 730am Bed a lityle small
- Pat (10/5): Great stay - Brilliant place to stay in Knaresborough, close to the town, river, Mother Shipton's Cave.
W had and evening meal in the pub abd breakfast each morning. The staff are so lovely.
We have fell in love with Knaresborough and can't wait to return. The annex rooms are nice but very warm and the fan was useless. We did not sleep well because it felt like there was no air.
- Lucinda (10/5): -
- R Roberts (10/5): Great staff, great facilities, wonderful value. - Great staff, good room for the money and excellent facilities for food and drink. I would have no hesitation in recommending to others.
- Alison (8/5): -
- Anthony (9/5): - Beds rather soft
- Jane (10/5): Lovely relaxing stay - Very convenient to the river and town
Staff friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was varied and presented well.
Good selection of vegetarian meals. Nothing
- David (8/5): -
- Neusa (8/5): - Everything 😊
- Megan (9/5): - We are travelling from Australia & we loved staying here. It was such a perfect location. We walked everywhere easily from here.
The inn was renovated beautifully within keeping with its heritage.
The hotel manager was an absolute delight. He was so welcoming and we enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of this lovely in.
We ate in the restaurant and the food was good.
Value for money the Knaresbough Inn is exceptional.
Would highly recommend. We loved our whole experience.
Only one tiny thing. My bedside lamp was not working 😕
- Yazmin (10/5): Beautiful - Stunning hotel with beautiful grounds. Staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our stay. We stayed in an Annex room which exceeded all expectations. The shower was lovely and hot and all facilities to use were perfect.
Little table and chairs on the front of the annex buildings to sit out in the sun and enjoy a coffee. We will definetly be returning 😊
- David (10/5): - perfect place to stay.
- Tanya (10/5): - Dog friendly Nothing
- Joanne (8/5): Enjoyable stay and would be happy to stay again. - It was a comfy friendly place to stay , close to amenities , lovely food which was good value for money , staff were helpful and gave good customer service . Breakfast was plentiful with lots to choose from . Would be happy to stay again .
The train station was very close by and it was so easy to get to either Harrogate or York by train . Nothing
- Sally (6/5): Ordinary - The situation to the town The breakfast set up was confined and awkwardly situated which led to customers having near misses with hot drinks
We were in room 103 which faced the road. Throughout the evening and into 2 o’clock ish, there were cars roaring down the hill
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Ian (10/5): - Everything was spot on
- Peter (10/5): -
- Ian (10/5): -
- Vivian (8/5): enjoyable - First room allocated had to be approached from the outside up a series of stone steps. It was also a very noisy from traffic passing nearby. We changed rooms for the last two nights and this room was excellent.
- David (10/5): Very good. - Dog friendly and good breakfast .
- Valerie (9/5): A very pleasant stay - We found the property clean and cosy. N/A
- Małgorzata (9/5): -
- Amanda (10/5): Great short stay would recommend - Great inn - location within knaresborough few mins downhill to river and 5 mins uphill to town centre . Very friendly professional staff . High quality of food on both main menu and breakfast within a well set out bar / tables. Car parking . Would return
- Mark (8/5): - Location and interior Being charged £11.40 for a large glass of Merlot. After that we decided to drink elsewhere
- carl (8/5): -
- Hodgson (8/5): -
- Keith (10/5): Very comfortable - It had all that I needed N/A
- Denise (8/5): - The location. The hotel was clean & cosy. Plenty of refreshments in the room & a good breakfast.. The only thing was the bed was uncomfortable.
- Jonathan (8/5): -
- Jeanette (10/5): -
- richard (10/5): -
- Martin (9/5): -
- Karen (8/5): -
- Freya (7/5): Perfect location to walk everywhere - Very clean, breakfast was good but basic. Rooms were very warm but fan was provided, expensive
- Shaun (9/5): -
- Christine (10/5): - Fabulous
- Heather (9/5): Lovely location, a very nice Inn but food not great - Very nice comfortable Inn. Perfect location for access to the waterside/cave and do getting out and about to Harrogate etc. we booked a large double bedroom with a sofa which was perfect for the two us to relax in the room after a long day out. Shower was excellent. Rooms beautifully decorated and plenty of parking on site. Breakfast was disappointing, while there were options for hot and cold, the hot food was low quality and on the cold side both days. I did feed back on day 2. We ate out both evenings which was a better option/nicer food elsewhere. On arrival we were offered the chance to exchange the room clean on day 2 for a free drink which we did. However it wasn’t made Lear that to get the drink you must download the App which I would not have wanted to do as this is simply a way for the company to keep contacting us after our stay. The free drink should not rest upon signing up to the app as we have already given up the room clean. Staff were friendly but didn’t really offer a warm welcome or show much attention during breakfast service.
- Littleroon (8/5): - Breakfast, cleanliness, location, gardens, flora. I would have preferred a room with a larger window or patio doors onto the garden.
- DOUGLAS (7/5): Fair value. - Steak Pie was poor. A Scotch Pie with vegetables and two pieces of very chewy “steak”. Gravy was good as were the chips.
The Crumble was fair but could have done with twice the amount of custard, niggardly but tasty. The room was good, neat, clean and quiet with plenty of room.
There was a ceiling light “out” which was reported when bill was paid.
- Joe Barrass (8/5): -
- Mitchell (9/5): Very good value for money clean and good food - Very welcoming Nothing
- Mrs Linda Evans (9/5): -
- myworld0424 (10/5): Just what we needed - We booked to stay here last minute and had a lovely couple of days.
We dropped on nice weather so did quite a few river walks in beautiful Knaresborough.
It is close to town and the river and also to Mother Shipton's cave. All very close by and walkable.
We parked the car and didn't use it again until it was time to go home.
We caught the train into Harrogate for our tea one of the days, less than a 10 minute journey.
We loved the hotel and the staff were so kind and friendly. It is a nice place to be. The garden area is so nice and well kept, lot's of people had a dog.
The hotel was spotless.
We enjoyed an evening meal at the hotel one of the nights, prices reasonable and free breakfast both mornings. Cooked breakfast and also fruits, yoghurts, pastries etc. Tea, coffee and juices all buffet, help yourself.
We were in the annex which was perfect for us, we thought.
A little table and chairs outside to enjoy the warm evenings.
The only downside though is that the room was unbearably hot and the fan in the room did nothing at all other than waste elec. We did not sleep well, even though the bed was comfy.
We did enjoy the hotel and location so much that I can't mark it down for this. They just need better fans in those rooms.
As much as we loved the annex rooms, if the weather was nice we would not want to stay in one of those again.
Still a great hotel regardless of this and we can't wait to return to Knaresborough.
I would just like to say what a fantastic idea they have.... When you go for breakfast they ask if you would like your room cleaned, we were only there 2 nights so didn't bother. Because of this we were both offered a free drink in the bar for later. All hotels should offer an insensitive like this.
Well done Knaresborough Inn.
- Susan (6/5): Disappointing service and unpleasant room. - Good location in Knaresborough, car park, beer garden (although with noisy music), plenty tea and coffee in room. We were allocated a disabled person's room on the ground floor, the bathroom was unpleasant - a huge wet room with a vinyl floor and minimal facilities, like staying in a care home. This bathroom does not appear anywhere on the website, or on Booking photos. Bed with no sockets/table on one side. When I asked to be moved to another room, staff were determined not to help out. No-one even looked at the on-screen bookings to assess the situation. I was flatly told that I could not be moved, the hotel was full. We had checked in at 5.30pm, and I queried whether we were the last to check in - I was told Yes, although later that evening we saw several couples checking in after us. Perhaps they had a different class of room? Maybe. Check-out - 10am is far too early. Breakfast items not replaced after about 9.30am.
- Mariusz (9/5): -
- Elaine (8/5): -
- Sofia (6/5): - All was good, except for the cleaning. It needs improvement. Dust in the room. The bathroom, namely the toilet was not cleaned when I arrive in the room (they rectified this once I told them).
- Deborah (10/5): Bank holiday get away - Hotel absolutely beautiful inside and out. Lovely gardens.
Rooms compact. Very nice
- Leanne (3/5): -
- Diane (8/5): -
- Les (9/5): As above - Was ok Nice staff
Rooms good
Shower was excellent
- Scott (10/5): -
- margaret (9/5): - Location
- Paul (10/5): Fantastic - Everything Nothing
- Colin (8/5): A decent place hat does what it says on the tin. -
- Joanne (10/5): -
- Susan (8/5): Good value for money. Not really an hotel experience but a pub with nicely decorated rooms. - Location Dark rooms
- John (8/5): -
- Lynn (9/5): -
- Bev (9/5): -
- Shaw (9/5): -
- John (8/5): -
- Lesley (8/5): A very well appointed, sensibly priced hotel with good facilities. - It was very convenient for our trip back to Edinburgh. Parking was available and breakfast was provided.
We had dinner the day we arrived which was very pleasant We were in room 101. There were some very steep steps up to the room which were a little tricky for me.
- Tracey (9/5): - Staff receptionist very friendly and attentive Not applicable
- Gillian (10/5): - Excellent location, close to all local attractions. room was clean & comfortable. All staff very friendly & helpful. Good food and a lovely beer garden. Would highly recommend.
- Timothy (9/5): -
- Peter (10/5): -
- Paul (8/5): -
- Rachel (5/5): - Room was a good size Room noisy [road side]
Shower floor very slipper
- AAH (6/5): -
- Denise (8/5): Convenient for a family get together - Situation, service, cleanliness, staff, We were allocated a room with a disabled bathroom which was inconvenient. We were not told it was a specialist room when we check in and by the time we realised it was too late to ask for another room . However I did tell the staff the next morning
- Diana (7/5): - Very nice atmosphere
- Angela (4/5): Disappointing experience - Location Room too hot, toilet position in bathroom
Meal in restaurant was poor, complained to Sarah who showed chef and he agreed . Had to be persuaded to give refund. Offered complementary drink which was acceptable
- Angie (10/5): -
- Allison (8/5): - Location Small bedBed not comfortable. Under cold window
Mirror over toilet, difficult to use. Would be better over the sink.
- Darnell (9/5): -
- Janet (10/5): Amazing stay in an amazing Inn - Location perfect and lovely atmosphere Position of the TV in room 110. It's on the side wall and difficult to watch. There was space on the wall opposite bed.
- Rodgers (10/5): -
- John (9/5): - Location, staff and restaurant. No dislikes.
- ellis (9/5): -
- John (8/5): Enjoyable and we would stay again despite the dust problem - The location is excellent and convenient for all knaresborough has to offer and within easy reach if York and Harrogate We were lucky to be houses in room 1 which is a stand alone cottage and although it is noisy when beer garden is full and with traffic noise it is very private. I do need to point out one fact about the accommodation snd that is the dust. The wardrobe haf shelves that were falling off and the dust on bottom shelf where the safe was myst have never been dusted it was about 2mm deep. We were unfortunate to drop something that rolled under the bed so lifted it up to find a thick layer of dust and dirt and someone else's lip which we left there. I am sure if you look it is still there. This was unfortunate as we gad a really lovely stay.
- catherine (10/5): - Lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff. Beds were very comfortable. Out breakfast was very nice 😊
- steven (8/5): Stay was good location also was good , my experience of food in the evening was poor. - Breakfast was good mains in the evening was poor fish and chips had to go back and still poor when came back. I think the staff were good but under staffed when busy.
- Ann (8/5): Comfortable stay in Knaresborough - Large room with comfortable bed. It was in a good location in the town Pricing was high for the standard of accommodation and food
- Georgina (10/5): - We stayed in the annex room and had the loveliest time. Breakfast wasn't amazing...very basic but nice all the same.
- stacey (10/5): Relaxing and welcoming - Relaxing atmosphere and everything we needed Nothing. Liked everything
- Claire (8/5): -
- Valerie (8/5): -
- Helen (10/5): -
- Dorothy (9/5): -
- Patricia (10/5): Great location. - Location is great. Good for river walks.
Room good size and comfortable.
Staff helpful.
Great breakfast. N/A
- David (10/5): Will be returning. - Lovely place , great location, parking onsite was free , breakfast included was self service, very tasty, catered for everything hot and cold . Bed comfy, room nice , as are the staff. Dog friendly, wish we had taken ours now we know. It's a little thing really, but the floorboards creaked very loud when going to the toilet at night.
