- John (8/5): Ideally suited for Swaffham town centre, comfortable clean hotel with great staff - Great staff attention throughout the stay, hotel is a little dated but it was comfortable and clean. They provided a secure spot for our bicycles too which always really helps. The food in the bar was good, we all ate our evening meal in the hotel as Swaffham failed to provide, it didn't disappoint It is an old building and it has character, the rooms are a little dated although it didn't bother us at all. It was clean and comfortable and great value for money.

The heating was not working when we arrived but by the end of the second day they had fixed it. Room downstairs and next to a back entry which was used early in the morning

Both dinner and breakfast was very nice. Food was very good Our room was very dated and needs modernisation, bed was uncomfortable, holes in the walls, electric socket upside down with wires exposed, sinks were brown and water did not flow away, a piece of wood behind toilet to hold it in place, definitely needs a proper power shower and glass curtain, paint flaking away in places, windows covered in condensation, generally not a good hotel, but compliments to the chef as the food was very nice

Food was tasteless and not falue for money. Staff in hotel pleasant and very good. Location excellent and parking was free for hotel guests.

- Iva (4/5): Disappointing - Cleanliness issues and poor service - Good town centre location. When I submitted the automated review form explaining my experience, I was instantly refunded in full. Although I would have expected this on check out, I appreciate the swift resolution. They also reassured me that they are planning to update the rooms. With this in mind, I would consider staying there again if renovations are made. We were unfortunately forced to change rooms at midnight after discovering bed bugs in our pillowcases. Despite this, no compensation was offered and we paid full price. This was the final straw for us, on top of other issues we had overlooked due to the hotel's affordable price and location. The room had hairs in the bath, dust in the fan, and stained sheets with rips. The decor is very dated, particularly the bathroom, which had built up grime. Reception service was inconsistent, one of the staff had a very unprofessional attitude. Overall, the hotel is in desperate need of renovation.

Everyone was so helpful - they couldn't have been nicer. It is an older hotel so you have to bear that in mind.

- Beaudids08 (2/5): Poor Attitude from Staff - I was very disappointed with my recent experience at The George Hotel. I had just arrived in the car park, and was waiting for my wife to meet me, and then a member of staff came up to my car… He told me that if I wasn’t planning on going into the hotel he would clamp my car (I was however going to have a coffee here). He had an awful attitude and made me feel very unwelcome by not seeking to understand why I was waiting. After telling him I would not be returning for our usual Sunday Lunch, he told me he didn’t care as he did not work Sundays. Me and my wife often go to this hotel for Sunday lunch, however after the disgusting attitude I received, I will not be returning. I can understand that the hotel staff must be frustrated with people parking without using hotel facilities, however, being approached in such an awful manner and being spoken to so horribly is not how to treat customers (especially regulars). This is not the first time staff members have had poor attitudes, but this has been the worst by far.

All the staff except for one waitress working in the evening and the lady on reception when we left were rude. My husband made the comment when we first arrived that he thought he’d walked into Norfolk’s version of Fawlty Towers. Both the shower head and the bathroom tap were filthy, covered with a green scale. There was a step up into the bathroom which had no safety markings - someone could very easily trip and hit their head on the sink, especially in the middle of the night! The carpet in the hall was threadbare, and most of the floorboards in our room creaked. It was such a shame as the room could be very nice indeed with a bit of work. We weren’t informed there was breakfast included until we went to pay for it which was a nice surprise, but in other places where breakfast wasn’t included, we have just left in the morning.

- JennyFQ (4/5): Dog tolerant - 2 night stay with a dog, in a hotel that should be described as dog tolerant rather than dog friendly. Reception not particularly attentive and don't dare ask for a 2nd key ... you get one, so make sure you don't accidentally lock your husband out of the room ... though great excuse if you want to! 😜 Room and bathroom were grubby and had evidently had several DIY bodges. Paying full room rate plus a supplement for "extra cleaning" is a bit rich to get a room that in places looks like the wallpaper has been attacked by a chihuahua and a bathroom that looks like a guard dog has been trapped in it! Dogs not welcome in bar area. Fair enough, not everyone likes dogs. However, if diners fill the area where dogs are allowed, then this basically leaves you confined to your room with a few bottles from the local off licence. Whilst that might be better value for money, given state of the room, it hardly makes for a romantic/relaxing evening. Whilst policy states you are not permitted to leave your dog alone in a room, staff seem to think this is ok for breakfast or bar service. It might explain the state of our room, if dogs have been left alone. On the plus side, the bar and dining area is far better maintained than the room. Breakfast was good and service was attentive... it was Monday morning though and not busy at all. Swaffham is a great little town, with some good walking but sadly I won't be staying here again

Nothing is too much trouble. I think the rooms could use a bit of updating, and no toilet brushes in the bathroom. (Were people stealing them?)
- Helen (3/5): Not a place I would recommend or plan to visit again in the future - The bed was comfortable and the facilities in the room were as you would expect, albeit VERY dated. There was no food or bar service available when we arrived. The decor is very old and dowdy. The room was way too hot with radiators that we couldn’t turn off and windows that wouldn’t open. The room we were allocated was right next to traffic lights, this meant that we had traffic, mostly Lorries, sitting outside our window and revving their engines, from 3am onwards.
