Please note that the hotel is a very popular wedding venue, therefore some bedrooms may experience noise at the weekend. Pets Policy: Maximum 2 small dogs per room is allowed and dogs are only permitted in our standard rooms. £10 per dog, per night payable on arrival to the hotel. Please note that as the property is a listed building, it does not have a elevator. Ground floor rooms are available and subject to availability and guests can arrange this by using the Special Request Box when booking. - Ken (5/5): - Good location. Plenty of parking. Nice breakfast. Noise outside for a lot of the night, no idea what it was, may not have been connected to hotel. Receptionist not quite as welcoming as we would have hoped.
- Kathryn (8/5): Great for a business stay - Beautiful building and lovely rooms. The restaurant was great and the food for both dinner and breakfast was fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Some aspects of the accommodation were a little undermaintained. This made some parts feel a little bit tatty.
- Ian (8/5): Would happily stay again as it was ideal for our visit to Glasgow easy to find after a fairly lo - We ate in the restaurant one evening and had breakfast twice food and service was excellent, though there was a little confusion over our orders one morning🙂 Overall a nice place just looking a little tired, and maybe a bit more attention to maintaining and checking rooms, there were two lamps out in our room and the bathroom door rubbed on the floor and needed a good shove to open it properly (Room 41) but the bed was comfortable and everything was clean though.

This seems to be a rarity nowadays and most hotels provide you with tea bags and hot water in a self service area which just isn't the same. We stopped for one night to break up a long journey, and used the opportunity to visit both the Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies - which were only a short drive away - before continuing our journey. There was also a wedding the second night but they were less noisy It meant reception and lounge areas both evenings were crowded as well. We were given no notice of this when we booked or checked in.

All the staff were very friendly and welcoming and we felt like we’d been made a fuss of from start to finish; it was a really lovely experience. - Jackie (8/5): Home from home for me when travelling for work. - As a returning guest it's always lovely when you receive a warm welcome from the staff. As requested, I was booked into the same room I've stayed in before which is spacious and always spotless. The meals are always delicious and the breakfast chef always serves generous portions, so much so that I always request a small portion for any cooked food. The decor in my room was slightly dated but I appreciate it relates to a standard room booking.

On arrival room was not clean, ie. Dirty bath, poorly washed cups, general poor cleaning of surfaces The food quality varied from day to day. Some evening meals were of poor quality.

- David (5/5): Not worth the money. - Good location. Bed and pillows comfortable. Walking into reception the carpet was really dirty. Heater in room wasn’t working. There was an oil heater in its place but was making funny noises so wasn’t comfortable using it. Some of lights weren’t working in room. Very noisy until early hours of morning.

All staff were friendly and professional - It was a last minute booking, i just needed a stop over, arriving late and leaving early so i wasn't too particular about where i stayed. Booked this for an excellent price and it way exceeded my expectations There was an issue with my door not locking when i left my room. Brought to the attention of staff who couldn't have done more to assist.

They are a credit to the hotel. The hotel was very clean, tidy, with a lovely mix of the historic building and modern decor. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower nice and hot and powerful. Breakfast was plentiful and nice and fresh with a good selection. The TV in the room needed an upgrade , and the coffee in the morning was very, very weak. But those were the only two small changes I would make.

- Mcintosh (4/5): few problems that are near misses and some major problems need sorted - good size room plated breakfast where do i start ok went into room too relax wife too off shoes and straight away stepped on broken lightbulb floor had what look like crumbs so didnt look like they had hovered, was 40th birthday party music was loud but even worst the vibrations from the base kept our 2 boys awake till 1 oclock it was very loud in there room they were no9 we were 15 , also floor boards maybe outside or in bedroom are very loose woke me up thinking someone was inside room folk walking in and out from 1-2 am , and lastly toilet kept filling after flush which running water all night as there is no handle on outside of toilet door could pull it too , dont always post but ive worked hospitality for 30 years and health and safety comes first big chunk of light buld on floor at side of bed big deal for me , just a honest obersevation on this hotel
