Comfortable bed Quiet room Very slow bar service and bar not busy. We were unaware that a refurb was going on when we booked. No atmosphere in hotel. Bar area needs soft furnishings. Dinner disappointing. Frozen pizza bases and a very small breast of chicken in a burger with hot coleslaw?! Very disappointing.
• Jackie (8/5): Nice hotel - Great size room and we'll equipped. 2 things room was vold and no instructions on how to use the heating. I was also disappointed as I paid for early check in as I needed to be at a wedding. Friends at the same wedding arrived at the hotel and ask to leave bags were told you can go to your room now arrived same time charged nothing.

• Pritida (7/5): Wonderful location with potential - The location was brilliant, the hotel was in front of the lake and the walks around the lakes were wonderful. The thermal Spa was very disappointing. It was very small and some of the facilities were not working. Also the ventilation was poor there were not enough loungers for the users allowed in the thermal Spa.
• Susie Hitchcock (8/5): Really enjoyed our 5 nights, and would recommend this hotel. - The renovations being carried out did not cause us any inconvenience. The buffet breakfast was generous. Our room was very spacious, bed extremely comfortable and the toiletries, etc, were very good quality. The surrounding countryside was beautiful, and very peaceful. Access to the hotel requires your own transport as nearest bus stop is a quite a distance away along a narrow winding road.

I am unclear why I should pay to be woken up at 6.45 am on a Sunday by vibration and noise of a running machine and gym. Bar had the atmosphere of a motorway cafe. Amazing potential but not a country house and not a good experience. Breakfast service very poor. Food good. Very disappointed and would never return.

Door to fridge hangs off, ceiling stained from leaking roof hole in wall. Facilities having major building work. Understaffed and running on a shoestring. Breakfast was abysmal to the point of being laughable.

• Aaron (7/5): Good hotel, just a few niggles stopping it being great. - Room was very spacious with a comfy bed and a great shower. The Wi-Fi work very well, this was needed as phone signal with O2 was no existent. The breakfast was great. Although the quality of the breakfast was fantastic, it was advertised as a buffet. This was not the case and we had to order and took a considerable amount of time. Bar / restaurant undergoing refurbishment, while it will be nice once completed; it would have been nice to know about it in advance. Bar staff member was rude and tried charging us more for the drinks compared to the advertised price in their menu. TV in our room was very out dated. Spa closes very early, would have been nice to use the facilities in the evening.

The breakfast could have been better, coffee machine mot working, when mentioned to staff they said the milk is not working, no attempt to fix it.

• StewartW213 (6/5): Better in the warmer months - Spent a night here recently and my general impression was that it was understaffed since, wherever we were i.e. reception, bar, dining room, there was never a member of staff so you could either wait or seek out. Having said that, all the staff we came into contact with were presentable, friendly and helpful. Evening and breakfast food was OK. We booked a garden room which was lovely in itself but the room temperature was cool even after setting the heating to a high temperature. The ceiling fan was expelling warm air but at a very poor rate even though we set the fan speed to high. Similarly, the bar area was quite chilly. The location and setting is fabulous and it’s beautifully quiet and, no doubt, even better in the warmer months.

• Jane (8/5): A very good value place to stay, close to many good towns and tourist sights. - Excellent reading lights. Good location and walking around the pond and surrounding area. Good breakfast. There were many good places to eat in the area and they seemed to be open every day and all day which was a bonus. The Shower was frustrating as it leaked onto the bathroom floor and the plumbing when used in adjacent rooms was heard in our room.

When got it working, very noisy. Fridge space behind cupboard door, but no fridge. Very patchy service from waiting staff. No lemonade available. Room not made up for 2 guests, only 1 bath and hand towel in bathroom. Eventually found more towels in wardrobe. No way is this a 4* hotel. Wouldn't visit again.
• Marian (7/5): Overall good experience. But I’m still waiting for a £250 deposit to be refunded - The view of the lake from the terrace is lovely. Lots of free parking,and the evening meal for a big crowd of us was really good we had a great time. The restaurant staff were so good, I would happily recommend this hotel for groups of family/friends and would definitely stay again. Disappointed to find some rooms I had booked for people didn’t have breakfast included, even though there was a filter for breakfast included on my hotel search. It was £20 extra, which I didn’t consider worth it as it was self service, and not very hot, and the plates were the size of side plates.The rooms were a bit cold and the bed was a bit too hard for me, other people in my group said their rooms were too hot and the beds were fine. So it is just preference.

Every dish was prepared with attention to detail and full of flavour, but the highlight was definitely the steak – cooked to absolute perfection, tender, juicy, and rich in taste. This is more than just a stay – it’s a full experience of comfort, quality, and elegance. Highly recommended, and definitely a place we will return to. 🤍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

• rozj356 (4/5): Over priced, unappetising restaurant - Visited colleagues staying here and ate at the restaurant. Reception staff were very helpful but restaurant was disputing. Tired decor, food coming out with big gaps between different choices, one person had almost finished before the others were served. Food was Very expensive and unappetising for what it was. £20 for a ceasar salad which was mainly chopped wet lettuce and non descript dressing with 5 small croutons and 3/4 small pieces of chicken, £6.50 for sweet potato fries though they were excellent, dessert was an unpalatable odd tasting sponge supposed to be sticky toffee pudding, for £10, honestly revolting and a bit if a rip off. Had thought to stay here for future work visits but this has put me off.

Not enough comfortable seating, one sofa and armchairs in the reception. The staff really friendly and nice. We got a notice just days before travel the spa facilities were extra which was a surprise. Would have like a swimming pool, but as not advertised can't complain. Very little. In fact nothing comes to mind

• 372kater (2/5): Poor - The whole experience was dreadful. I first phoned to book cream tea and was told no need to book even for Mother's Day. Called on Sat and was told they were full. Asked for manager and was told they would fit us in and made booking. Arrived today. No one to greet us, no booking, ages to be served. No milk brought with tea. Told we couldn't have afternoon tea. Said we didn't want it! Staff didn't listen and very slow service. Charged for service and did not ask them to remove it due to my old mum being with us. Other guests were loud. Decor is horrible and does not fit the beautiful location. Absolute disaster. Do not visit for anything.

• WilliamW2165 (8/5): Afternoon Tea - 12/03/26 - The property is absolutely amazing. We purchased the afternoon tea package, upon check-in we were given a detailed tour, which was appreciated as we were unsure of the facilities which were available for use prior to this. We arrived early for our treatment to enjoy the thermal journey, which did not disappoint! We ordered some food early as we were peckish prior to our treatment, unfortunately we had to wait around an hour for this, however once we made the staff aware of this, they were more than accommodating & continued to check in on us. Jose & Charlotte provided mine & my partner's full-body massage and this was absolutely amazing. These two were really professional & catered to our needs attentively. The afternoon tea was more than enough & great quality. We will definitely be coming back!

• bethkholgate (10/5): Amazing afternoon tea - We hosted my sisters baby shower here in the restaurant and the whole experience was great! Staff were very attentive and friendly. The afternoon tea was lovely and there was a lot of it. They were wonderful at catering to all the different dietary requirements as well.

• marc (7/5): we teally enjoyed the visit - on the lake/pond Spa facilities Breakfast room wasn’t warm and heating off Coffee set up in room s/b better - cheap Coffee a/b complimentary in the facility.. i did not appreciate paying 7.50 for 2 mid morning coffees after the breakfast period was over - great hotels do not do this Had to wait c 15 minutes at checkout as no- one manning the desk If We had not experienced these small negatives then perhaps the rating may have tipped over to positives

As return visitors, we were very impressed with the attention to detail during our stay. Jignesh remembered small details from our initial conference last year, which made us feel very well looked after. The team were attentive, polite and very accommodating. We would definitely use this hotel again. It would be great to visit in the spring/summer too, as it's such a beautiful location.

Wasn’t happy that I received a parking fine because the staff didn’t register my vehicle. It’s been a nightmare to dispute even though I have evidence of staying. Breakfast was also rather expensive and the food isn’t particularly great. Probably wouldn’t return in a hurry.

• sarahaG3451GZ (4/5): Appalling service - I would NEVER recommend this hotel! We were visiting because of the Fawlty Towers Weekend. We were due to arrive around 2pm but got there early. Our room wasn’t ready, that was fine, and it was suggested that we sit in the bar and the chap would come and find us. 2:20 pm - no-one had come to find us. I went up to reception and asked, and it was ready. We were given the keys and went up. Neither of our keys worked so my husband had to go back down to get another one. Tea, was served at 4pm. We went down a little early and were told to sit anywhere. We did. We waited, thinking we would be served our afternoon tea. After a while other people started arriving and were told to help themselves. Self service afternoon tea? Never heard of that one. We soon came to realise it wasn’t afternoon tea, it was a cream tea. The queue for the tea/coffee moved very slowly because the set up was all wrong. Only one or two people could get at the tea bags/water/milk/coffee at a time and those having tea were waiting for it to brew before moving out of the way. This was because the desposal of the tea bags was by the new tea bags/ coffee etc. The tea and scones itself were Ok, scones a bit on the small side, apparently frozen. The evening meal: we arrived back in the dining room and rather than get our drinks first we found our table number and were guided to our table. They had spelt our name wrong. I then went to the bar. The service was very slow. The young lad didn’t seem to know what he was doing. I asked for a cocktail and got told they weren’t doing them at that time as they were too busy! I got a Diet coke and ordered a bottled cider for my husband. Not being able to carry it all I took my coke back to the table and returned to the bar for the cider. I was asked if I would like, ice in my orange juice! I said I’m not having orange juice, I’m waiting for a cider. He got the cider out and I took it back to the table. Food Service started shortly after 8pm, I went back to the bar to order a cocktail, a Mojito. I was then told by the lad that they weren’t serving cocktails during service! WHAT!! Our starters arrived at the table. Prawn cocktails. On the menu it said it would be served with warm bloomer. We got, what felt like very stale brown sliced bread. I think it was in fact supposed to be toasted, but extremely lightly on one side. The manager was around seeing to another couple on our table who had had their ice bucket removed so I asked him for some fresh bread. It came out fairly quickly. Another managerial type member of staff was around. I asked her for a Mojito and was told that they were out of fresh mint. Now why wasn’t I told that before? I ordered a classic Daiquiri instead. It came out and it was extremely bitter. Not at all nice or what I expected. I went to the bar, yet again, and ordered a Pina Colada. The lad didn’t know how to make it and had to find someone else to do it. 5 minutes later another lad came along and made it. I tasted it. It was OK. After more than 2 hours, I finally had a cocktail. We had previously ordered our food. The main course came out at around 9pm. I had ordered bream with rice and a Thai green sauce. It was really really spicy. Another lady on our table and myself complained and were offered the chicken. The replacement meals came out promptly, but we just have had about 1/4 of a chicken breast, although it was reasonably tasty. Dessert was served around 10:15pm. A young lad started to bring them out, only to realise that our mains plates hadn’t been cleared. The dessert was OK, but could tell it had sat around as the ice cream had started to melt. The staff seemed to be extremely undertrained. They didn’t know how to carry or clear plates properly. My husband said that they will be working late, and I said that if they worked a bit quicker they would get home sooner! I spotted a few who were standing around talking and some who seemingly didn’t know what they were doing. They were slow and very few and far between, totally overwhelmed by this event. Not once, did they take any empty glasses off the table. Service with a smile? They didn’t seem to know what a smile was. Breakfast was ok. Most places do buffet style now. The variety wasn’t too bad, both for hot and cold. There could have been more fresh fruit available. The cooked, I thought, was extremely greasy. I didn’t eat of what I put on my plate, it just tasted of grease. Overall, the hotel was clean and presentable, but the service was appalling. I will never stay there again.

• Emma (3/5): Poor - The entrance to hotel was really nice and well kept The carpet in my room was thread bare in one area and the self in shower was broken. There was dust on the back of shaving mirror. My food was delivered on a cold plate with no salt or pepper. My beer was in a Guinness glass. Not what you would expect when paying £115 for one night

Worked hard to make it all good, Nice restful feel to all areas. The room was cold but the staff worked hard to make it right. Some Areas could do with a little TLC .

• nigelsL4878EQ (10/5): xmas 4 night stay - Went to Frensham pond hotel for 4 nights over xmas. The hotel is located by the big pond which is perfect for walks and for the beach. The staff were so polite and nothing to much trouble. The atmosphere was really good with both the staff and other guests. We stayed in one of the suits and couldn't be happier. The room was big and clean with fresh tea / coffee and water topped up daily. The food was excellent and given it was over xmas well worth the money. The hotel was so peaceful. In fact we were so impressed we have already book for xmas 2026 and also to comeback in June to experience it on warmer days. Well done to all staff and thank you for a wonderful xmas experience.

• davidbV4978AZ (10/5): Outstanding stay - This is our third visit to this hotel & once again we cannot fault it. As always a first class service from all the staff who couldn't do enough for us. The front of house manager Vedanta we'd like to thank for his warm & welcoming service as always & highly grateful for our upgrade which was beautiful & at a high standard. Raieda the Food & Beverage manager was highly attentive, warm & friendly as always. The Spa services were once again faultless, relaxing, the receptionist was very attentive & friendly & cannot fault the Spa treatment both myself & partner had with the male beauty therapist. Great variety of food from the bar & restaurant, thank you again to the staff of Frensham Ponds & we'll see you again soon. Kind regards Mr D Bellinger
• Niki (8/5): Property really lovely, evening meal shockingly bad. - The location and the rooms and stuff were all fantastic We enjoyed our day the views were fantastic however we only had one man to choose from and that was the Christmas menu. Which would’ve been absolutely fine had the food on the plate matched the description on the menu. The food was really disappointing. When this was pointed out to the waiter, he was Very low-key about it and we did get free coffees as a result of our complaint. I truly believe that chef did not know what was actually written on the menu. This was really disappointing because the man dressed it up to be a really special meal but actually it was rubbish. That being said I would go and stay there again but I wouldn’t eat my evening meal in the restaurant. The breakfast was absolutely fine.
