Guest Reviews
- John (7/5): - The mattress on one of the queen beds was extremely soft. A continental breakfast would be nice to add.
- Bernie (8/5): - Clean and quiet
- Terri (4/5): - Beds were very comfortable. No service at all! Nothing no one at check in, no clean towels, no garbage's emptied, no coffee and no hair dryer or anyone around to ask for one! No breakfast offered this time. Not sure if this was still offered, but was a year ago. Last year there was someone there when you needed anything.
- James (4/5): -
- Lois (10/5): The facilities were clean and comfortable. They are updating or remodeling it per the evidence of boxes of items in the - Easy access to property from road. Quiet even though traffic was close I never seen or spoke to ant staff member during my stay. The office was closed the entire time I was there.
- Jerry (2/5): -
- Hanley (7/5): -
- Mio (1/5): BE WARNED - Location was great for what we wanted. Got a text with a door code to get into our room since apparently the front desk was only open for 1 hour on the day we arrived. That is the extent of the good experiences. Our floor had clumps of dust/mud all over the room, beneath the bed, etc. There was a used condom wrapper on the floor, opened milk left in the refrigerator, stains on sheets, broken screen door, and dirty windows. Inexcusable for any experience, especially when traveling with a toddler. The room also smelled awful and my wife's asthma kicked the second we walked in the door. After driving 4 hours from Seattle to attend the hot air balloon festival, we went to the evening experience in town and promptly decided to drive home, instead of staying the night in our room. We missed half the experience we had planned over the weekend because of this. I'd understand all of this IF we had booked ourselves a $75 room and were going for a bare minimum experience. If I had checked Google reviews beforehand we wouldn't have booked this place. Booking.com reviews were VERY different from what I saw on other review sites and that is a concern. This place was a mess.
- Kerssen (10/5): - We stayed 1 night to watch the Hot Air Balloon Round Up for Friday morning. We had an excellent night sleep. The bed was very comfortable. And we were so happy it was pet friendly. We enjoyed being close to the town for dining and shopping. Friendly staff and readily available if needed. That we only booked 1 night. Wished we could have stayed in town for longer visit.
- Kat (2/5): -
- Kat (2/5): Charged extra after booking and dirty floors. - It is a budget hotel so I wasn’t expecting much. The bed was comfortable. The room decor was nice. The phone number to the property never worked while I was there or in the weeks leading up to my stay. I was only able to get a response through the Booking website. The property sent room access information via text hours before check-in. When I arrived, there were 2 other hotel guests who never received their access information, distressed, outside in the cold parking lot and never could check-in or gain access to their room. The emergency phone number for the hotel also didn’t work. The room looked nice and the bed was comfy but the floors were disgusting and covered in gritty dirt and dust. I booked a double queen room and they placed me in a one king bed room instead. They told me that was an issue with the booking website but then they charged my card an extra $100+ for the room difference. I spoke with the front desk staff member there 2x about it and she said that she would take care of it, but never did. I was unable to reach them again after my stay to follow up and sent multiple requests about resolving the issue. Thankfully the Booking website got involved and took care of it. It was a very frustrating experience and I wish I had booked anywhere else.
- Nicole (6/5): -
- Kristine (10/5): I liked it. Slept well, had everything I needed, the tv was easy to operate (very unusual). - I liked the simplicity of the facility. The room was spacious and light, everything worked easily, the bed was very comfortable and the towel allotment was more generous than the usual hotel. There should be a handrail all the way to the top of the stairs.
- Kathryn (3/5): We've stayed before and had a positive experience but were disappointed this trip - The location and room layout were good There were either bugs or mildew stains all over the ceiling in the bathroom, and the carpeting had large bleach stains and wrinkles
- Donean (8/5): We had a great time just needed an area to all get together out side would have been perfect. - The area was very nice! We couldn’t get to the fire pit. Need a place for groups to get together. We were there several other people but no place out side to have a group of people together. We were there for kids hockey tournament.
- Lisa (6/5): - Location was great! Floors were really dirty. Its run down, but did the job
- Mary Lixanne (1/5): They did not give me my refund. I booked two rooms and asked for an extra bed. They told me to cancel the other room wit -
- Katherine (6/5): A short walk to town but inn needs upgrading - The breakfast was definitely adequate. The bed was comfortable and the staff very helpful and friendly. The room wasn't pristine. Long black hair in the shower. My husband is bald and I have blonde hair.
- Sheryl (8/5): -
- Rahul Yalkur (6/5): - Pretty old place. Very basic. But the lady at the counter was nice and helpful. Let me charge my Tesla at their sister property Chewuch for free. Old place. Passed breakfast.
- Kainoa (3/5): First and last time - Price was ok Stayed for 3 nights and not once was our room cleaned or restocked with towels. TV was broken, but it got fixed the next day. The siding seems to be rotting and in poor shape, could use a remodel.
- Ronald (10/5): Very comfortable and convenient location - Good location just outside of town. Very simple to navigate. Had a nice little balcony with chairs that you could sit out on. The breakfast was simple but good. The breakfast area is tight with more than a few people.
- PIYUSH (9/5): nice place to stay - location was great. Room was small. the sink was outside the bathroom and room was too small.
- Mark (7/5): Great ! Except for the bed and bedding . - The room was clean and nice size .The view is beautiful .The staff very friendly. The mattress was VERY uncomfortable. The blanket was very thin .
- Kee (4/5): - The room was run-down holes in the carpet. Just didn't feel clean.
- David (4/5): Overall still a nice place to stay at but not as good as it was before. - The staff and the room design and interior of the property were nice. The carpet in our room was very dirty. The shower dripped all night and wet the bathroom floor. The door to the balcony was missing its lock, so the door could not be properly locked.
- Gary (4/5): Pleasant staff and fairly quiet location, couldn't compensate for many shortcomings. - The TV worked fine. There is a good microwave and a good coffee maker. The refrigerator is also adequate but not too roomy. The bed was ok. The towels were clean. The toilet worked fine. The location is nice, at the entrance to the town coming from the south. And it was also a pretty quiet location, which was nice. I did NOT smell any cigarette smoke, which I also liked. Most impressive though was the staff. The front desk is not there past 6pm but they are professional and pleasant. There were several power outlets that did not work. One light fixture did not work. The carpeting was filthy with dark brown blotches everywhere. I think the room must have been rented by a pet owner prior to me. I love pets but my goodness ( and I am talking to guests as well as staff ), clean up after your animal. It's not the job of the next tenant to try and clean your mess. This should have been cleaned prior to renting the room again. Also there is a portable LG A/C unit on the floor instead of a wall or central unit. It worked fine but there were small openings between the attached duct and the outside world. Consequently I had a wasp in my room which took me about half hour to trap him and let him out. Not good to have wasps in your room. The screen door and sliding glass door do not lock. I was on the top floor so maybe it wasn't as big a deal up there but nevertheless....Also there is no phone in the room. The stairwell is a hazard; the carpet is worn and you have to turn sharply between floors to avoid scraping the supporting wall, which is unvarnished wood and seems a good source of splinters. The carpet on the outside balcony was really deteriorating and with the wasps visiting the screen door periodically, it was best to just not use the balcony patio.
- Raymond (7/5): -
- Barbara (6/5): -
- Anthony (8/5): It's a great place to drop your things and run over to the town. Great price! - location to the river was excellent!! Very friendly staff and the location to the town, gas and stores was very close. The property in back of the hotel which is very close to the river was not kept. We actually walked over to the next hotel and followed the path to the river where they had chairs to sit in and enjoy the river.
- Gail (6/5): Functional room. We walked into town for dinner. Exercise was good after a long day on the road. - The manager was very helpful, gave us a key where the keynote didn't work for us. The room was clean. The coffee maker didn't work, so we brought water and made coffee in the lobby. Continental breakfast wasn't available until 8am, kind of late, so we skipped the breakfast.
- shelly (2/5): Not great won't stay again - No breakfast just cold cereal. Close to town. Room wasn't very clean, bathroom was dirty, A/C didn't work well room was hot. Bed was uncomfortable. They charged my card 4 days before I even got there.
- Richard (6/5): Nice clean hotel, one of the cheapest in Winthrop, but there's a reason why. - Rooms were clean, well-kept and modern (sorta). It had a refrigerator, microwave oven, and a Keurig coffee maker with ample supply of pods. The rooms had a balcony with chairs. Nice. A supermarket and gas station with a mini-mart are right next door. As long as all you need is a clean, quiet room, comfy beds and a shower, I recommend this hotel. If you want nightlife, fancy rooms, and a modern feel, go downtown and spend more bux. The building is in dire need of maintenance such as painting, siding replacement, stairs rebuilding, etc. We were using the stairs at the end of the building as they were closest to our rooms before realizing it was for a fire escape only. The stairs moved and creaked under our weight. We're lucky they didn't fall apart. Hotel itself is a tad farther out of town than I was led to believe. Only eatery within walking distance was a pizza joint, but the pies were outstanding.
- Steve (8/5): -
- Tamela (7/5): -
- David (4/5): Budget stay. Works in a pinch. Don't expect rooms to be completely clean upon arrival. - Cheapest hotel in the area. Close to the town of Winthrop. Room was dirty when we first arrived. There was someone's cup of coffee left on the counter. The receptionist and office area reeked of weed.
- Allyson (8/5): Great for the price point! - Great for the cost! We came to town and needed a place just to sleep at night. Tv was tiny if you’re looking for some bed rotting time. No usb ports on the lamps or anything so don’t forget your wall block! If you do, the gas station next door has some.
Spring mattress wasn’t my favourite and the blanket situation was quite thin.
- Mary (7/5): - Like the remodel without the carpets as the floors are now easy to keep clean, the location is great - easy to walk into town or the grocery store, dog friendly, easy parking, easy to check in and access the rooms even if arriving after hours. Pillow cases had hair on them which made us wonder if they were washed or not, need a light by the table/chairs as it's dark there and hard to see playing board games at night, need to caulk next to the wood flooring and shower as the water can leak right in under the wood floors from the shower and ruin them, wish there was a tea option for tea drinkers vs coffee drinkers.
- Michael (6/5): It is a place to sleep after daily activities around the North Cascades - The staff was helpful. This Hotel is in a great location, and it has a ton of potential. The Hotel needs serious upgrades/repairs. We had hundreds of dead bugs stuck to the ceiling of the bathroom, lights missing fixtures etc. Aluminum windows had so much ice on the inside of them you could not open them. Sheets had black marks on them, found wrappers and a hair brush under bed from previous guests.
- Cliff (10/5): -
- Abby (6/5): - The bugs in the bathroom on the ceiling wall.
- Jacqueline (7/5): -
- Liu (7/5): -
- Jason (8/5): -
- Ivan (7/5): Clean room with everything I needed for 1 night. - Clean and warm room. One if the bed lights did not work. Wi-fi could be a little faster
- Deena (8/5): -
- Deena (8/5): -
- Deena (8/5): -
- Deena (5/5): I was glad for a place to stay but the pics showed a balcony. My room did not gave one. I would have - The pics showed I had a balcony room but I did not. The microwave was not plugged in and the prongs were bent which prevented me to plug in myself. The refresh was not turned on. Only 3 of the dresser drawers could be opened. I could not watch any television!!
- Robert (7/5): - Amazing location, super easy check in The sheets and towels weren’t cleaned, the bathroom light stopped working
- Philippe (7/5): -
- Frances (10/5): Perfect - Staff was nice, check in was very easy and quick. Room was clean, comfortable and perfect for the weekend
- Hyungeun (2/5): - When I arrived there, the lights didn't work. I called someone using the emergency phone number and somebody came and fixed it. It took 30 minutes. After he left, I found out the sink had a problem. It didn't drain. I called again. The same person came bringing clog remover. It took another 30 minutes and even the sink didn't fixed well. My family and I were quite tired and wanted to take a rest but we wasted more than one hour to wait someone fixing it!! I asked for getting another room but they said no room was available.
- Kate (2/5): - The room was not as advertised at all. It was not clean. It had not been vacuumed, the sheets were dirty, the bathroom was dirty, and it smelled of cigarettes. The front desk was not helpful, there was inadequate parking and not well lit.
- Nora (4/5): - Check in was simple but No overhead light so i had to hold door open to find a lamp. Balcony curtains fell off the track. I had to stand on chair to fix it. Fridge is so filled with frost i couldn't fit my icepacks in. Fridge is not cold at all. Carpet is so old and grungy make sure you wear slippers at all times.
Bed was reasonably comfortable. Pillows ok
- KIM (4/5): Won’t stay here again. - Very worn. Super soft broken down bed. No hair dryer.
- Pam (8/5): - Staff was friendly, room was clean and beds were comfy. The room did have a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. This is an older motel, but there are a few small things that they could do that would improve it. I would stay again
- David (8/5): - For the price, the property wasn't bad. They are in the process of remodeling rooms so hopefully that would be all of them. Carpet was terrible, towel rack was missing. Fridge wasn't cleaned out. Just a few minor inconveniences. Also, no sound insulation between the walls or floor. You could easily hear people throughout the night. The check-in gal was super nice and friendly and check in was quick and easy.
- Joy (4/5): - They gave us a king size bed rather than the two beds we requested. The internet was slow at times. The staff was difficult to contact when our door lock code didn't work after hours and we couldn't get into our room the first night. The room was a newer one but not clean: floor cobwebs, dried splatters of something on the bathroom mirror, old dark stains on the bedspread, crumbs on the bedspread, crumbs/dirt on the floor, hair and heavy dust on to of the baseboard heater, hair in the mini fridge and LOTS of old hair along the edges of the bathroom floor. It was after office hours by the time we discovered this so we dealt with it ourselves. I addressed the issues with the front desk as we were leaving and was told they were having staff issues and would address it with them. We have stayed here once a year for the last three years when we come to hike in October and have not had these problems before but it makes me think twice about staying here now.
- Jean (7/5): - the location and setting the ground were very quaint. Older rooms, some things didn't work in our room. However, the staff was there to take care of the issues.
- Stephen (7/5): - Clean room, on outskirts of Winthrop. Quiet. Nice grounds. Room was cramped with two people in it. Cleaning carts and supplies left in hallway downstairs.
- Debra (10/5): - It was clean and quiet.
- ralph (10/5): - Excellent value for money. Great location for hiking cascades and seeing larches. Superb outdoor dining (pizza) and craft beer 2 doors down with convenient supermarket and gas also.
- Marilyn (6/5): - The room was recently renovated and had some nice touches, like a Keurig coffee maker. There were plenty of towels and of a decent quality.
But I had to ask at the desk for a spare roll of toilet paper...when there anyone at the front desk. Hours were very limited.
And in the 5 night stay, there was NO housekeeping. I was OK with that as I'm used to looking after myself and I'm pretty clean and neat. I can make my own bed .But still, there was no evidence of any housekeeping staff.
What really annoyed me was that the entire stay was billed to my credit card the day after I booked through Expedia. I chose that property because the Expedia website said they had a 24 hour cancellation policy. I needed some flexibility because my dates weren't positively known. I contacted Expedia who contacted the property. Their excuse/explanation was that any booking through third-party sites was billed immediately. GRR!
I got a notice from Expedia a few days before my check-in date reminding me I still had time to cancel or change my booking. HAH! They lie. Not cool.
- Will (7/5): -
- VERNA (2/5): - The bathroom shower floor felt like you were gunna fall through, no light fixture , dead mosquitoes on bathroom ceiling, not enough lighting in room, no phone to call front desk, no hair dryer in room, had to request one but no one available till 10am, sink faucet was completely loose , & after using hair dryer blew out the TV, light in bathroom & light above the sink. Horrible experience, which is sad because I come to Winthrop all the time but would not recommend this hotel for anyone.
- Lihi (8/5): -
- Marlena (6/5): Great location/Property could use some freshening up - Front desk attendant was very kind. Hotel was very nearby to middle of town we had deer visit the property and it was in a quiet location with next to none road noise. Kinda cool you used a code to enter the room instead of a key card. The outside of the hotel could use a lot of work. The parking lot didn't really have lines so you just parked the best you could. Siding was in desperate need of repair and they could use a freshing up of the parking lot. The inside hallways were dated but functional. The room was spacious but the paint job in the bathroom was atrocious and the bed was extremely firm.
For the price I expected the facilities to be in better condition.
- Jeff (7/5): Great location and value - It was available and cost effective. It would have been nice to have a breakfast - but that would have increased the price - it was ok that way.
- Paul (6/5): - This was ok for a quick sleep, but the bathroom was small; carpet was dirty; the bathroom was dirty; TV is way too small; and our code didn't work. However, the gentleman who was working was very friendly and helpful. It wasn't the worst place in the world, but I wouldn't stay here again.
- Steven (10/5): -
- Bishwajite (6/5): - Floor carpet was wet
- Colin (2/5): - The roof was leaking, after about 1 hour, we couldn't take it anymore and checked out. It was clean, but in terrible condition.
- Sandra (1/5): No stay.gad to leave they had no other room too offer - Didn’t stay. They had a torn up bathroom and bugs all over the bed 0
- Lisa (3/5): -
- Roxana (2/5): - After we checked in went to the room to find the room uncleaned from previus occupants. Dirtty bathroom, beds slept in garbage everywhere.
- Barbara (6/5): - Room and facilities could use a good cleaning. Filters on air/heat were very dirty. Carpet was dirty. Floor in bathroom had dead flies on it. Staff was friendly on check-in.
- Hailey (4/5): - Was very dirty, bugs everywhere, hair and dirt in the shower, lights were broken upon arrival, staff not always at the desk, wasn’t the best stay.
- Tatiana (10/5): - I like that this hotel is not very close to the highway, less noise even for rooms facing the road. Nice location, room was clean and spacious. The only thing is they don't have a hair dryer in the room, but you can bring your own. Would stay again!
- Kylie (10/5): - We arrived late, the staff made it very easy for us to check in after hours and check out was even easier. Our room was very simple but clean.
- Estelle (2/5): - Absolutely disgusting. Crusty yellowish substance in the sheets, clearly not washed or changed. Room smelled terrible.
- Rick (4/5): - Outside property is in need of painting along with rooms.
Spider cobwebs in Bathroom window and room needs a deep cleaning I have stayed in allot of Hotels in may life I have can only remember 2 that were in worse condition as this one.
I believe if these things were taken care of this would be one of the best in the area.
- Albert (8/5): - Great stay, but nosey sure to renovation and much more with needed.
- Marissa (8/5): - Clean and quiet.
- Doug (4/5): This motel is run down, and a poor choice. - Combination door lock Bed was too firm and should have had an additional blanket. Could not take a shower because a leak in the shower ceiling caused the Sheetrock to collapse and make a mess.
- Carol (8/5): - Recently remodeled, great decor, quiet Dirty backside of bathroom door, no coffee in the room, and there was a used coffee ground packet in the maker.
- Alyshia (6/5): - The non smoking room smelt terribly of cigarettes. The room was filled with cobwebs and the a/c was caked with dust. The shower hadn’t been cleaned. There was hair all over the walls. You get what you paid for with this hotel.
- Judith (10/5): - Very easy to check in. Clerk very friendly, helpful and courteous.
- Mary (8/5): -
- Dwight (6/5): Maintenance please - This is an older building with a few newer features but still having older building problems. The shower constantly drips. When I first entered the bathroom the curtain was open the the splashes had flooded the bathroom floor. I arrived after 8 pm - they close the office at 8 pm. In the morning I told staff about the constant fast dripping and she said they have a lot of those there now.
- Dalyce (8/5): - The only bad thing is no breakfast as advertise. Self check end because office is closed other wise good
- Timothy (6/5): - lights did not work in my room
- Lali (4/5): - Cute motel with friendly staff, but not very clean. I found hair in the bathroom, and the carpet didn’t appear to have been vacuumed after the last guest.
- Mike (2/5): Sleepless—I won’t stay here again - Location and availability. The price seemed reasonable but not when considering the condition of the room and the mattress which was about as comfortable as a shipping palette. The mattress was so hard and lumpy that we couldn’t sleep.
- PATRICIA (10/5): - Inside way more updated then outside appears
- Simon (6/5): -
- bhadraiah (10/5): - Excellent communication sending reminders of the reservation. Easy check in. Complementary bike rental. Easy and ample parking.
