Thanks Margaret 💙💙 - Margaret’s personal touch was very much appreciated - local knowledge, great service - including recommending and booking a restaurant for us and dropping us there (the food was great!). Without fuss rearranged bookings in consultation with other guests to facilitate my husband’s mobility issues - and made no fuss whatever of it. We are deeply grateful for a wonderful experience.
AND - no price increase even though it was Open Golf week and most other accommodation close to Troon was hugely inflated. Such integrity! Nothing not to like!

I think for us ,all it lacked was a lounge area because we had eaten out and ready for returning at 8,30 - 9 pm .
But all good .

- Darren (10/5): Warm and hospitable - Very quiet room thanks to the three foot thick walls.
- Heidi (10/5): Margaret is a gem. I would certainly be happy to stay again. - This was my first stay in a B&B, having only been in Hostels or hotels before. Outside, a beautiful Scottish stone home and the trees and bluebells were a lovely sight. Despite being close to a major road, I didn’t notice the traffic at all. Inside, my room has been freshly renovated and felt homely and peaceful. I was travelling on foot and the neighbourhood was lovely to explore.
Finally and most importantly, Margaret was wonderful. She made me feel very welcome, gave me directions and offered to drop me off when I needed to be somewhere early, which was very much appreciated.
- Tomas (10/5): Exceptional -

Breaky was provided at a cost and it was very nice. the location wasn't perfect for me but it was adequate. There didn't seem to be an area where I could chill out and relax apart from my room.

- Simon (10/5): A fantastic stay at Nethermains House. - Margaret couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming and did everything that she could to make our visit so very enjoyable.
Highly recommended, and breakfast was great too! Will definitely stay there again if we are back in that part of Scotland. Nothing - it was all great.
- Joseph (1/5): Bad - I didn't like anything about that place the owner she's not good to be honest I'm regretting why I did book that place I will never book it again she offered my room mate something eat and my room mate didn't ask her food she just offered him on the day of check out she said we have to pay for the food that she offered how I don't know but I don't don't give that place some point it was poor on my side
- Jo (1/5): Shocking service and smoke filled property - Nothing This has to be the worst accommodation experience we had, we arrived to find that the main hall smelt strongly of smoke and as our room was off the main reception it was also smelling bad. I said we couldn’t stay in the room and Margaret said she had another room (didn’t disagree it smelt of smoke) we went upstairs and the room did smell less but then it started coming under the door so we went to find the margaret and leave. The second room was pretty dusty and the toilet full of skid marks but to be fair she wasn’t expecting us in that room so maybe it hadn’t been cleaned. She was nowhere to be seen and so I messaged her and we left. They have refused to refund our stay despite allowing smokers on the premise, and for refunds you need photographic evidence which of course when it’s smoke doesn’t exist. They also advertise spa, pool and wellness centre which doesn’t exist so beware! Read the replies to any criticism to their property and you will see what kind of people you are dealing with. I’ve no doubt many enjoy staying there but if you have issues with smoke don’t go!
- Robert (8/5): Great for a few days and Margaret is amazing. - Our host Margaret was amazing. Just so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. A wonderful human being. Better lighting and it was a bit cold in the room and no heating.

- Mary (10/5): Wedding Celebrations in Kilwinning - Margaret, our host, was wonderful, so kind nothing was too much trouble..We were attending a wedding and she
dropped 2 groups to the church and gave us bucks fizz at our lovely cooked breakfast to begin the celebrations. Our rooms were comfortable and clean with all facilities provided, including lovely fruitcake to have with our tea! If you are visiting this area, I would highly recommend staying in this wonderful historic house. A big thank you to Margaret for making our stay so memorable.
- Penelope (9/5): Superb - We were very happy with our stay at Nethermain House. Margaret was a delightful hostess, and was very welcoming. She went above and beyond for all her guests. We had delicious homemade cake delivered to our room each afternoon when we arrived back. We even had ice cream on one occasion! The bed was very comfortable and the room very clean. My gluten free diet was catered for and we had lovely cooked breakfasts every day. All in all a memorable stay. Thank you Margaret! Nothing to say here!

Margaret could not do enough for us. The light breakfast was lovely and the cooked breakfast set us up for the day.

Bed super comfortable. Bedroom/en suite spotlessly clean & tidy.

- Barr (8/5): Very good -
- Teresa (1/5): Bad -
- George (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing weekend. The owner is fantastic one off the nicest people you will ever meet.nice quiet place
- Steven (2/5): Disappointed and could not wait to leave - Breakfast was Very poor. Extra charge for cooked breakfast. Porridge the worst ever. Very 1970s all round. People banging on the wall due to noisy bathroom fan. Owner knocking on the door at 10pm whilst using the bathroom. Would not have paid the money for our stay due to all the nonsense going on. Plus no heating apart from at 10am. Weird as it's checkout time.
- Sean (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
