Guest Reviews
- Exploration685245 (10/5): Great Stay - The hotel staff are nice, particularly the male waiter; I didn't get his name. They serve a free plated breakfast, and the room is designed in warm beige tones with a comfy bed. Housekeeping swiftly responded to my request, and I appreciate it very much. Overall, I had a good rest.
- tynb2017 (10/5): Planta is a friendly hotel Try it - It was a great experience for me and my family . Planta Hotel was very accommodating , they eventually offered us a discount of 20 % and we were able to avail 1 free morning breakfast along with our accommodation .
Definitely will be back next time
- kyletW9549IA (2/5): Disappointed - I am also a hotelier at some 5 star hotel and I saw the service of server is very terrible and worst.. aside from don't having a nameplate to recognize them they don't clean the table .. a very substandard service .. gusot pa uniform, not presentable. Holding the water goblet in a wrong way disappoints me.. marami pa Ako nakitang flaws and substandard na bagay di ko na sasabihin . All I can say is terrible.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Nothing. Their are ants crawling around. The water in the shower is cold. Door is very hard to open. Only one key for the room. I’ve requested for another key for my husband and they won’t give it to us. They won’t allow us to charge our dinner. They only want cash.
- hugh (6/5): Bed and pillows too hard - The staff are great, but the place is getting dated. Bed and pillows are worn out and hard. Water was barely warm for a shower and the food was awful.
- d0menik0 (6/5): Holliday trip - Nice hotel, friendly staff. We did stay for 2 nights. Breakfast for price of room very poor. Got 3 telephone calls from management asking we will realy check out after 2 nights and not forget we would have to check out before lunch at departure day. Never had such an experience before.
- Rai1417 (6/5): Thumbs down - We attended a company party last January. Just disappointed with inattentive their staff is. There was not enough eating utensils provided to us. We asked for spoons and forks several times and no one seemed to be paying attention to us. We ate our dinner with teaspoons. We were already eating half way when were given the right eating utensils.
Drinks were also delayed. Food were not that great too. It's just disappointing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff are very nice and they treat the guest very well! Thanks
- DaPaElIs (8/5): Great service, good stay - The Planta Hotel in Centro Bacolod is a good option for a stay in this city that is teeming with activity.
The staff is courteous, attentive, and professional. The facility is aged, but not to the point of disrepair. Instead, it has a classic era quality to it.
- Isaias E (10/5): - Best service
- ynadqnor (8/5): Wedding Reception Regularly - A large Mediterranean architecture turn of the century building at the center of Bacolod City in Southern Philippines. Although the rooms are quite big and old by design the size are functional, the beds are comfortable, the pillows and linens are crispy clean, and the hotel has a huge secured parking ground. It is one of the best in this city known as the City of Smiles because of its Mardi Gras like MassKara festival every fourth Sunday of October. One little observation: there is a wedding reception on a regular basis in this hotel.
- Sam (4/5): - Hotel location is good, service and the employees are excellent but overall cleanliness of the facilities leaves a lot to be desired example, molds in the bathroom shower tile, smelly air coming out of the bathroom floor, the ladies bathroom in the main lobby has very poor exhaust system that I vomited because of it’s lingering foul smell . My husband said that the men’s main lobby bathroom smell was ok. If the hotel can just give more attention to cleanliness and sanitation we will consider returning as employees are excellent and hard working.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Noisy outside the room
- KATHERINE (10/5): Awsome Hospitality - My family had a wonderful time in their staycation! Food was excellent. I am very pleased with the entire staff. Thank you for your hospitality!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Roaches and ants all over! Staff very helpful and very nice
- 8t_traveller (10/5): A wonderful short staying - It was nice staying in this splendid hotel near many interesting attractions such as Malls shopping stores restaurants etc. The hotel provided pool and gym. The room was spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room is kind of warm. Airconditioning unit doesn't function well.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel looks old inside due to lobby not being lit well. My daughter said it looks spooky because the lobby was dark when you enter it. The room has ants and cockroaches (baby ones) when we first entered the rooom. The staff were very attentive though. Smells of smoke in the lobby. The hotel is not that old from my knowledge but it was not maintained well, so it looks old in the inside.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bugs and insects problem that hotel needs to address.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The restaurant staff was excellent. The gods in the front were very helpful . The cleaning staff also was well.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It is within the heart of the city and a spacious parking lot
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly but not many good restaurants are in the area. A few times we didn't have hot water for the shower but when we reported it within minutes someone came and fixed it.
- Michelle Liza (8/5): - Location of the hotel was very good. We shall go back to this hotel again when we stay in Bacolod.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - when I booked the room it was a room for 2 with breakfast. When we got here they said breakfast was for 1. Any other time I booked a room in the U.S. or in the Philippines I got breakfast for me and my wife 1 room for 2 and 2 breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - spacious, accessible to transport and near the food shops. We dont mind staying here again. The hotel can be upgraded.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Spacious Room But Noisy - The room was spacious. Our only complaint was that it was noisy. The airconditioning unit was making a tik-tok sound the whole time. There was a machine right outside our room that made a loud sound everytime it switched on and off. You could also hear people walking and talking outside.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There’s only one snall pillow 😟. The next room was so loud until I drifted to sleep at 1am , I think people from the prom. Dark room. One big lamp shade was broken. I checked in late so no time to request for anything to be fixed.
- Alex (8/5): - Hot shower not provided.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice location and good service provided from hotel staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Check- in was smooth. Food was okay.
Due to the incoming storm that time, we opted to check out early availing only 1 day stay. Would it be possible to be refunded of the 1 day unutilized?
Thanks for any feedback.
- 196glade (6/5): Average Hotel with Pros and Cons - Booked Planta on a rush since there were no available rooms in our preferred hotel. It was a good deal for a 3-night stay.
Room was basic. Am not hard to please because I only book hotels with the thought of sleeping in them since we are normally out for a tour. What disappointed me was there was no toothbrush and toothpaste but there were combs! I asked the reception and I was informed that they were pulled out by the Management together with the slippers. Oh, okay. So they had me go to the nearest convenience store where I can buy my own toothpaste. Good thing I brought our own toothbrush.
Breakfast was also basic. Don't expect a grand hotel breakfast with variety. Be grateful that you have at least for 1 person.
Other cons:
Hallways tend to be noisy since this hotel is used for wedding receptions. That makes me conclude that this is their main market and not people on vacation on tour. This also explains the lack of toothbrush and toothpaste and the presence of combs in the rooms.
No bidet in the CR, no hand towels.
Pros:
Good location, instagrammable hotel facade, they cleaned the rooms daily
The hotel needs renovation to keep up with the competition. They also need to think of their secondary guests (not the wedding guests). People also book to stay and we need basic room amenities. Why don't you make slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste for non-wedding guests or at least sell these things inside the hotel if supplying them is not an option?
- Christine (6/5): - Rooms are unmaintained, as we checked-in 2 lamps in the room are not working. The next morning the electric kettle did not work properly so I called the housekeeping ext. line for assistance, nobody come to check for about an hour, then I called the housekeeping line again this time 3 maintenance personnel came (all men) to check on an electric kettle😮, their voices are too loud that my sleeping husband got awake by their loud voices😔. The shower heater also is not working properly, I called the housekeeping line again to have somebody fix the shower heater.😔
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location.Walking distance to mall.Awesome lechon vendors right outside.Breakfast is the best in Bacolod but Expedia does not include this amen o ty which was disappointing.
- MagnusG159 (8/5): Amazing hotel and buffet breakfast. - Me and my wife have stayed here several times. This beautiful hotel is nice and clean. Great buffet breakfast. It also has a small gym and swimming pool. It is close to one of the main malls.....Gaisano.
- bernzb (6/5): Sorry, no sewing kit for free - You will have to bring your own sewing kit as precautionary because the hotel has none to offer. However, you can buy at SMCity should you need one which will cost you P63.00 to get there. The corredors are not well lighted and the room is not spacious. The breakfast buffet is expensive and not so tasty. My grandson did not like what was served on the buffet so we ordered for ham. He was not able to finish it because it's salty. There is no kid's meal offered.
- Claribelle (8/5): - Hotel is within the city proper---good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Would probably check in again or recommend to others.
- cafelatte228 (8/5): Value for money! - The room was good for 2 people. It was spacious and clean. They cleaned the room and changed the towels every day. Though it was for 2 occupants, the free breakfast buffet is only for 1 person, so one of you in the room has to pay for his or her breakfast. The breakfast buffet is only until 10AM, so you need to eat before this time to avail of it (plus it also gets crowded in the dining area from 8AM).
The staff was friendly, so were the waitress and waiters. I just noticed that they always unplugged the phone in the room. The phone worked - they just unplugged the wire. If you cannot get that call from your friend or someone, just check if the wire is plugged.
The hot and cold shower was sometimes a challenge. Sometimes it was working, sometimes it wasn't. Just inform front desk about it, and they will send someone to check.
You have to double check your door before you leave the room because sometimes, you can open the door without a keycard! In this case, inform front desk right away to ensure your safety and security.
The pool was smaller than expected. I guess only 7 to 10 people can be in it comfortably.
Overall, we had a good stay in this hotel. I will definitely stay here again next time.
- BERNARD (10/5): - Excellent had wonderful days in this hotel
When im back in bacolod iwill prefer to stay here again
- Fernando (8/5): Amazing 😉😊 - Hotel close to city, mall , church , quiet satisfied , room is big, only surprise I was denied my breakfast for free as agreed during my check-in , just because I was book from Hotel.com, 😃
- Matet (8/5): - Price is very reasonable and convenient location to shop and restaurants. Staffs are also very friendly.
- Matet (8/5): - Reasonable price and staffs are always friendly. Location is also very convenient to shops and restaurants.
- Noel (6/5): - The breakfast buffet quite expensive and limited foods. For double occupancy in a room, only one complimentary for breakfast, i suggest to make it two. For online booking, i suggest the hotel can issue receipts since most of the guest are of official business. Thanks
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall it was a pleasant stay although you could hear all the sounds from the hallway to the streets. You could also hear the parties going downstairs even you're at the 3rd floor. No peephole on the door so you don't know who's at the door when somebody knocks. Saw some tiny roaches but it's typical tropical residents (killed some). No face towels or hand towels provided. Shampoo smells good. Staff are friendly and helpful. Beds are comfortable.
- Joseph (8/5): Nice Place - Nice place. Friendly staff. Spacious rooms. Good restaurant.
- Tak (2/5): - This hotel wants to change you for everything other hotels include for free and don’t drink your water by the pool or they will charge you 100.
- Donald (10/5): - Very nice staff, Good location . Will stay there again
- Joey (8/5): VALUE FOR MONEY - Great value for money. I was on my "Nth" stay, I'd say. No frills, really, for the package I last booked through Hotels.com so don't expect much and be prepared to stock the fridge with whatever you like from the nearby convenience store. But the staff were kind enough to provide us with vacuum pitchers of drinking water upon request.
- CS (6/5): - The Network here always has issues, I've stayed here a few times.
- mickeymousemla (2/5): No Communication - I was slated to stay at this hotel but my flight was delayed in Manila.
My fiancé and I repeatedly contacted the hotel through the booking service, phone calls and emails. There was no response back from the hotel so we decided to check elsewhere.
Per the reviews and ratings, we picked this hotel but were very unhappy with what happen. We were willing to extend the stay.
I will request a refund and not sure if I will receive one.
- Michael (2/5): - My Philippine Airlines flight was delayed. I contacted the hotel through phone for 2 hours, my fiancé emailed the hotel and I sent a message through the Expedia app. There was never a response to anything.
We arrived in the middle of the night to Bacolod and decided to stay elsewhere. I have not contacted Expedia but I will request a refund.
The sad part is from other people familiar with the hotel it was noted that there is never an answer from the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean, comfortable and good value for money - The hotel is clean and comfortable, and the staff are excellent. However, it’s old and the facilities can be freshened up. The location is just okay, and the rooms near the road can have a bit too much traffic noise. The bed is extremely comfortable.
- Juntortosa (6/5): - Slow internet in my room and aircon doesnt function well
- Tim (6/5): - Hotel is 10 yrs old. Im sure most everything is original, same bedding. Service staff is friendly and courteous, front desk staff is lacking in both. Restaurant is mediocre at best.
- Kathy (10/5): Very pleasant hotel with delicious breakfast
- We arrived at 6am due to early flight from Manila and were immediately allowed to check into our room. Very clean and quiet and a very curtious staff.
Several wedding receptions whIle we were there but everyone was very respectful.
- L (6/5): - Hotel is nice but the public bathroom smells bad. They also advertise free wifi but i have to sit on the floor outside my room to get internet signal, complained about it but seems like staff ignore it. The hotel is always busy with weddings, birthdays and i can hear kids constantly screaming outside our room. The breakfast buffet is ok, few times the food was cold only 1 free breakfast per room so i have to pay for mine and they didnt charge my 7 year old which is kinda nice because she barely eat anyways. Staff and waiters are awesome though.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Bathroom have bugs and dirty. Bathroom shower is not fully clean. I complained about the wifi about three times until I gave up complaining. The hotel has wifi, I was connected, but I cannot visit any website meaning their internet is either weak or not working properly. The staff did not do anything to assist me or attempt to help me. poor customer service. Their gym is also old and very dangerous to use.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - old and not maintained even phones are hard to use to call lobby or front desk
- Lakwatsero (10/5): Good, Safe and Secured - I highly recommend this hotel to my friends for cleanliness, good facilities and polite staff
- vicmayor1977 (8/5): Big Room, Nice Staff, Good Location - We stayed at the Residence Suitr for an Overnight Stay. Check In was Fast and Efficient. Our bags were brought to the room by the Bell Boy.
The residence suite is Spacious. It has a Dining Room, Bar with Microwave, Sink and Mini Ref. The kettle was defective though and there is no Complimentary Water.
There is also a Living Room with TV. LCD is a cheap brand. I think just 24". Bedroom has a seperate door. King Sized bed with its own TV. Same as Living Room TV. Bathroom is Huge. Bath Tub has a window which you can open. Enclosed Shower. Toilet has no Bidet.
Thr Suite also has a Balcony and a Roof Top.
Got room service and food was just okay.
I stayed in Planta when it was just less than a year old. Nothing has changed except that it has gotten older. Its location maybe considered far by some but it is just right since Bacolod is not that big of a City.
It was overall a Good Stay. Room was clean, Cool and Comfortable. Staff were nice and accomodating.
- 346williamg (6/5): Big rooms and baths - Got the superior room for two people for two days. It was ok until our neighboring rooms got so noisy, had their doors opened, talking and walking across the hall. These people must have been here in a big group. I'm sure they could be heard all the way to the reception but they didn't do anything about it until I called in a complaint at 10 PM. Another issue I have with this hotel is : I booked for 2 people, for 2 nights but we only get one breakfast per day ??? What , they presume the other person doesn't eat breakfast??? Strange set up. This was part of our Bacolod site inspection for our future tour groups from the US. Will be checking out other options.
- albertlavistahighlan (4/5): Arrogant & Insensitive Security Personnel and Disappointing Room Amenities... - My recent stay was last February 03 to attend a nephew's baptismal party. I arrived late afternoon to find their parking (which is quite insufficient considering they have multiple ballrooms and function rooms)- Full. Although I noticed that there were easily more than half a dozen open spaces marked "For Owner's Only".After a futile search of going around several times looking for a parking space, i decided to temporarily park on a side corner staying inside the car with my hazard lights on. The hotel security guard approached me and told me Not to park there. I explained to him that this was temporary while waiting for a vehicle to pull out and i'm waiting in a side corner with does not obstruct traffic flow. I further explained that i have a booked room. He was so rude and outright arrogant and insisted that i get out of the hotel premises and find a parking space somewhere else! In the room, the television set was a miniature 18" that you need extra pair of eyeglasses to watch from your bed! The bathroom tiles look old and the sorroundings worn out. This Hotel has potential with its quaint Mediterranean appeal and location but badly needs prepping up on some areas and some personnel especially the security badly needs a crash course on PR and Courtesy!
- Deidre (8/5): Perfect for our needs - Well situated for our purposes and within an easy walking distance of shopping amenities. The staff were very accommodating of our needs and requests and completely professional at all times. As visitors to the Philippines, the service we received certainly left a great impression and this is a place we would return to or feel happy recommending to friends. The young ones in our group especially enjoyed the outdoor pool and its lovely setting. I would call this hotel very good value for money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good stay - Good check in quick ,staff very helpful, very clean room and amenities good apart from exercise room not good old equipment one of the reasons I booked this hotel was the so called exercise room , and it’s not good in room 347 and surrounding rooms , the noise from traffic early morning wakes u up , plus a lot of weddings and functions at this hotel , and sometimes it can be noisy with people staying at hotel for the functions , but in the week quite
- 771gigi (6/5): Not so Good but not so Bad - I booked overnight stay in Planta Centro with my family. I booked a non-smoking room but we smelled a smoke of the cigarette when we entered. There's only one light on the ceiling which is near the door. They're using lampshades as the main source of lights in the bedroom. It is fine but the 1 lamp shade is not working. The wifi is not working too. I asked for new pillow cases since the pillows inside the cabinets are dusty.
During the breakfast, I've noticed that the hotel staff at the dining area were not approachable or it's hard for them to acknowledge my request. I requested a scrambled egg but the cook didn't acknowledge it or bothered to say anything. He kept on cooking an omelet. I have to wait for another Cook to prepare my request. I called the waitress and even said excuse me but she only looked at me and kept on walking.
If you're looking for an overnight stay and not so picky, I think you can still choose Planta. They just need to maintain the hotel and its cleanliness and improve their amenities and customer service.
- roberthU4361DP (8/5): Nice hotel, close to the center - Because of a typhoon, we could't get the ferry to Iloilo. So we search for a hotel and found the Planta Centro. We booked 2 rooms as we were with 6. They gave us a connecting room which was very nice. The swimmingpool is small, but nice to cooldown a bit.
- Ste (8/5): Good place to rest, not the best food - Not much to tell
I stay there with my gf
We did not eat there because the food is not so good
- 939tessa (4/5): Has potential but.... - This hotel has an excellent location, a picturesque building, and housekeeping responded quickly to unclog the toilet early in the morning. Housekeeping responded quickly to bring an additional bed in the room. Front desk generously provided extra rolls of toilet paper and extra towels.
In the bathroom, there were no hand towels nor face towels, although combs were provided. The blue striped bath towels, which resembled beach towels, and floor mats were beyond gently used and were off-white. However, on the last cleaning day, the shower curtain was replaced with a brand new curtain-one can even see the creases in the newly unfolded curtain. Also, the worn towels were replaced with bright white and fluffy bath towels plus one new hand towel. Wished the clean linens were available from the start.
No bidet in the toilet. The shampoo packaging needs to be re-labeled from Sham Poo.
The cabinet looked grungy and needed dusting. Only two hangers were provided. For a two occupant room, other hotels usually provide at least 6-8 hangers.
The sheets and bed linens were slightly stained.
Breakfast buffet was simple. The beef tapa was delicious-but inly available ala carte. One suggestion- with the unique, delectable muscovado sugar Negros offers, encourage your guests to try that with their coffee and tea. Leave the artificial sweeteners in the coffee station instead of including two packs on the saucer where coffee is served. Waste can be minimized by providing artificial sweeteners only upon request.
- azalea75 (2/5): Won't stay here again. Amenities are outdated and hotel staffs are clueless about policies online bookings - We booked through Asiatravel, and the online booking provided complimentary breakfast for the 2 booked guests, however, once there, the staff demanded payment for 1 of the breakfasts. The issue was only resolved with the intervention of the booking agent. The hotel staff was much less than helpful. We had the same experience with a prior booking. There is generally no attitude of positive customer service. This hotel is only 9 years old, however, their room amenities are outdated and worn. The fridge wasn't working, basically, deja vu. Won't be booking in this hotel again.
