Guest Reviews
- Renos (9/5): Comfortable and good value. - Location was perfect, hotel has good facilities and staff were very attentive and polite. Will definitely be back. Very little to be honest.
- DavidWooding (10/5): Charming - A quaint, old hotel in the heart of this tiny Cheshire village. The interior has been modernised to a high standard and all comforts are provided.
There’s Wi-Fi, TV and tea making facilities in the room. It was a little on the small side and, as it was a warm night, felt a little stuffy with no air con I could find. The bathroom was luxurious and a hearty breakfast was provided. A lovely stay.
- willmo82 (10/5): Excellent - Lovely place. Great room. Comfortable bed and pillows. Excellent shower.
The breakfast was great and the breakfast manager was really helpful and friendly. Great way to finish off the stay
- Nicola (5/5): - The food thr bed was comfortable and slept lovelt in it, ensuite shower was really big and condiments in the room was good The room wasnt very spacious and very pushed together so not enough room to walk round the views outside werent that great onlooked rubbish wires old table and stairs and looked like a dumping ground
- rebeccabO7416BQ (10/5): Amazing hotel - Best hotel we have stopped at in a while, the rooms were clean and beds very comfortable. The hotel itself was in a beautiful setting, and the staff very accommodating to your every need. The hotel was peaceful and no noise at night time. Short walk from all of the bars and restaurants.
We will be returning

- Dr L Horton (6/5): Disappointing - Really disappointed with a hotel that has oozed style and sophistication for so many years to now be mismanaged.
Beautiful building, lovely bar. Adequate restaurant. Room vary greatly.
Some staff are fabulous - Emily on Reception, Mille in the restaurant, Andy at breakfast and Justin [Night manager/Bar/ Restaurant]. The other staff need to match up. Generally all very polite. Some have great experience however they need to understand that what makes one person happy does not necessarily please the rest! They are after all in the hospitality business. Attitudes by some need refreshing to come across as less aggressive and less negative.
All house keeping staff need to be retrained to the same level.
Those that we experienced - Not making beds, not clearing away dirty glasses, not vacuuming - leaving dead wasps on the floor, other peoples hair all over the bathroom, not replacing used towels, not replacing toilet rolls, not checking rooms when guests have left - leaving other peoples dirty knickers in cupboards for new guests to find and deal with!! Disgusting. And at £600 for a suite - not an appropriate level of service.
Dinner - food needs to be as stated on the menu. Ingredients need to be present!
Do not try to defrost prawns and serve them in 10 minutes!
Steaks - please stop coating them in black pepper and salt. These are on the tables for a reason. Seasoning is one thing. This is not the same.
Steaks were cooked perfectly.
Trout should be trimmed.
Salad is not a handful of leaves.
Menu was adequate. Starters were generally very good.
Better selection of mains needed.
Wine list was good. Pricing was good.
Breakfast. £12 - shouldn’t be more than this regardless of where you book.
A simple selection but varied.
Good continental options along with yogurts, cereals, granola, fruit juices, varied breads.
Cooked Breakfast is abysmal. Staff were wonderful but cold cooked breakfast is never something anyone should endure.
Get rid of the buffet. Cook Really disappointed with a hotel that has oozed style and sophistication for so many years to now be mismanaged.

- moushumi (9/5): VERY GOOD - BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE. NO HALAL OPTION .

- RibbleViews (2/5): Comfortably the untidiest hotel I’ve stayed in…. - I’ve stayed in more than 35 hotels over the last 12 months, but the Alderley Edge Hotel comfortably takes the crown for the untidiest of the lot.
On arrival in our room, we were greeted to skid marks in the loo; the next day the room was tidied so badly we could only laugh, particularly with the way the bed had been made (it was re-done later that day); the second night a pile of wet towels was left on the half landing outside our room and was still there the next morning. On the final day, I popped into the downstairs gents just before breakfast, and it looked as if a bomb had gone off in it.
I politely raised all of this with the receptionist on our departure. She agreed it wasn’t right and said that she would speak to the manager. She also encouraged me to fill out the feedback questionnaire which I did later that day. A week on, I’ve yet to receive any formal acknowledgement from the hotel bar an automated thank you and not one, not two but four further feedback questionnaires.
For close to £1,000 for two rooms for three nights B&B, the Alderley Edge Hotel isn’t cheap and, simply, must do better.
- Donna (5/5): Rooms are small very hot and noisey could not open the windows because of fans running outside - Location was good
- Pazza711 (10/5): Great place to stay - Check-in was quick and simple, with directions to room given. The room itself, was very clean and lived up to the executive room type, with lovely decor and furnishings. The amenities were spot on, coffee machine, tea tray with lovely biscuits. Bed was big and very comfy, pillows were great. Breakfast was very tasty with a good selection and tge service was fantastic. Overall a great stay, thanks.

Get rid of the buffet. Cook to order.
I'd rather wait 30 minutes and have everything hot than the chewy, bouncy dish we were provided with. I was so ill as a result, that I did not return to have any again throughout the rest of my stay.
The Krupps coffee pods machines provided in the rooms may well be the latest fad but as far as producing hot coffee! They simply do not.
Those of us who drink coffee, and do so properly, do not want these cold excuses for brown liquid.
You have fridges in the rooms so why do you have UHT in pods, provide milk in the fridges. This small level of effort would allow you to provide a far higher level of service, along with cafetières.
No room service offered, no phones in rooms for emergency’s however, staff were exceptionally accommodating when asked.
Some rooms are lacking in drawers for clothes. More hangers than 5 are needed.
Get a decent carpenter in and have him put in bespoke shelving/drawers into the wardrobes and units that are already in the rooms, so that the guests needs are met in a more proactive and presentable fashion.
Good provision of hair dryer, ironing board and iron - however again, all just dumped in the wardrobe - all things should have their own place.
The suite we had was beautiful - kindly improve the lighting.
Buy a silent fan for this room [Duux whisper] as you cannot not have the fan on when the weather outside is above 18 degrees. The current one is so loud you cannot sleep with it on or hear the television!
Bathroom is beautiful. Superb shower, bath.
Towel rail should not be behind the toilet.
Get someone to re-silicon the bath in place and get them to do so when it is full of water - this will solve the moving problem and the unsightly old silicon on the floor.
If you buy plants for the hotel windows then kindly remove them from the plastic bags! Before placing them in the pot.
There was a horrendous odour of smoked kippers on the second floor on the Saturday followed by ‘sewage’ on the Sunday! Quite interesting seeing as how the hotel doesn’t serve kippers or smoked Mackerel.
Hotel has a garden at the back but no one told us about it!
So much more could be done with this hotel in order to raise its reputation back to where it was 20 years ago. You need to care more about the ‘little things’.
- Tracy (6/5): Nice location Tiny rooms and beds - Staff and location Rooms were way to small and beds tiny
- Janet (9/5): Amazing - Location people things to do
- Helen (6/5): -

- Claire (8/5): Overall clean and tidy - Great location Bedrooms very small and a double bed

- jono20201 (2/5): Unable to sleep due to event held - I'm sorry to say I can't recommend the Alderley Edge Hotel.
I stayed here for a business trip to the local business park, booked for two nights. The first night was fine — I slept well. My room (55, second floor) ran warm, but opening the window solved it. In the morning I noticed the shower pole had come away from the wall and was just hanging there. I flagged it at reception. It was still usable, so no real issue.
The second night was a different story.
The hotel was hosting an awards evening in the function hall, and guests were using the garden directly below my window to smoke and drink. They were extremely loud, and cigarette smoke was drifting straight up into my room. I closed the window despite the heat, but the noise was still bad enough that my partner, who I was on the phone to, thought there were people in the room with me.
By 10:30pm it had got worse, so I called reception. I was told they'd ask people to keep it down. Nothing changed. At 11pm I went down in person and met another guest who'd come down for the same reason. The assistant manager assured us the garden would be closed.
Things quietened for about ten minutes. Then the awards guests came straight back out and carried on.
At that point I'd had enough. I requested a refund and drove five hours home rather than spend another hour in the room.
After a long day at work, all I'd wanted was an early night. The hotel knew it was hosting a large evening event, and rooms directly above the garden should either not have been sold or guests should have been warned. When the noise was raised — twice — it wasn't meaningfully addressed.
- Pauline (8/5): Good value for money - High quality breakfast including veggie options and poached eggs cooked to orders. Good location in Alderley Edge
- Josh (10/5): -
- Pricey1108 (10/5): Quality throughout - Excellent stay in a gorgeous, well-presented, spotlessly clean room with fantastic service from arrival to departure. Dinner and breakfast in the hotel's restaurant was great; quality produce cooked well. Looking forward to our return.
- Shemilt (10/5): - The location is fabulous. Hotel is very stylish, modern and clean. The staff were so kind and very welcoming. I would definitely recommend and would return anytime i need to stay in this location. Very happy

- Peter (9/5): Alderley Edge boutique hotel - Great location, just a short walk from Alderley Edge.
Delightful setting, ample car parking.
Great breakfast.
Shower was easy to use (unlike other places we've stayed) and gloriously hot. TV reception in our room was pretty poor - hardly any channels were actually available.
Could have done with light-bite menus in the bar. We weren't even aware they served anything.

- Sam (6/5): Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff room comfortable - Location, comfortability,
The team are amazing and work in unison with each other. Nothings too much of a problem always happy to please. Slight issue with the food on Mother’s Day 🥴
Which did put a damper on the day but have to say was rectified very quickly and efficiently.
Although we only got to eat a starter ( which was lovely ) the team that was on shift were brilliant

- jonnyb12 (10/5): Great hotel - All good All good
- Paul (10/5): -
- Julie (4/5): Disappointing, - Location is good we have friends in the village but have always liked to stay in the hotel. its was our 4th stay. Bedroom- The handbasin was completely blocked, this should have been noticed on the room clean. When we came back that evening the drainage smell was terrible, fortunately with the door closed we couldnt smell anything. We didnt risk a shower just in case the bath was blocked.
Breakfast - service was excellent, but the food was not so good, the scambled eggs were very unusual my husband was convinced they were powdered eggs, I wondered if they had been microwaved to long. Either way we couldnt eat them.
- Sandraann (10/5): Perfect short stay hotel, clean, well decorated and friendly. - Good choice of continental and cooked for breakfast, meets everyone needs. Friendly staff, nice but small choice for evening meals again good quality and very enjoyable. Nothing to dislike
- Paul (10/5): Wonderful break away - Staff very friendly accommodation lovely. Room lovely only problem heating on high and we couldn’t change it so found it difficult to sleep. Had to open window so outside noise from car park of people coming and going heard. As above heating to be controllable
- Jon (10/5): -
- Cauvery (9/5): Lovely hotel with views - Compact but very comfortable and stylish room. Modern and new fittings, nicely decorated. Tasty breakfast, good selection of hot and cold options in spacious dining room. Big car park (free parking). Only minutes walk from high street down the hill. Friendly and helpful communication from hotel. Would stay again! Hardly anything! You had to walk around one side of the bed to access the wardrobe. The desk chair hasn’t been wiped and was quite dusty.
- Adam (7/5): -
- Patricia (9/5): Friendly staff, good food, great location - Stylish, clean, great location Bed wasn’t the most comfortable
- mark (8/5): - The property was very clean the breakfast was beautiful NA
- Rhiannon (10/5): Fantastic stay in a beautiful setting! - Very attentive staff. The building itself is beautiful when you arrive and I couldn’t fault the room! With it being my birthday I received a free brownie and card upon arrival which I thought was a lovely touch. There isn’t anything I didn’t like. Only downside was the room being a bit small with us having the sofa bed option. Didn’t leave much space for three people to get ready - other than that, 5 stars!
- Sara (9/5): -
- geoffrey (8/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Dave (8/5): - Nice room. Well furnished if a little dated. Staff in the hotel are excellent
- Suzanne (9/5): - Property was in an incredible location.
The hotel was clean and the staff were amazing. Food was also excellent The beds were small and very uncomfortable which would be the only reason I wouldn’t come back
- john (9/5): Great hotel and great value - Lovely hotel , good staff , nice rooms , great bar and restaurant N/a
- Michael (10/5): Excellent - Peaceful clean and great staff Nothing
- jaypeecee61 (10/5): Belated Christmas present - Came here with a friend as part of a belated Christmas present.
The bedroom was lovely, a bit small, but comfy beds and good quality bedding. Bottled water was available which was a nice touch.
Nice bathroom. It did take a while for the hot water to come through but when it did, it was plentiful and a good powerful shower.
Our evening meal was really nice.
The staff here are friendly and helpful and I would certainly stay here again.

- barnesjulian (10/5): Alderly Edge hotel - I have already given it to the hotel. Excellent service, Very characterful hotel. Excellent room.xxxxx
- lillibet12309 (10/5): A BELATED CHRISTMAS PRESENT - Stayed here earlier this week as a belated Christmas present for a friend. We know the area but have never stayed in Alderley Edge. The staff let us leave my car in their car park as we wanted to go on the train to Buxton the first day.
Our twin room wasn't particularly big but had everything we needed. We ate in the hotel that evening and were well looked after by Jordon. The food was excellent and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. Jordan served us again at breakfast. There was an area for fruits, cereals, yoghurts etc then a series of hot dishes but these were served to us by another member of staff. It seemed a rather strange way to do things but maybe at a weekend and if it was busy, then a staff member would be stationed behind the dishes for the length of the breakfast service.
I would be very pleased to recommend this hotel to anyone. We had a lovely time.
- james (9/5): Comfortable and wecloming - Lovely staff as always :). Room quiet and comfortable, although a little small.
- Rachel (10/5): -
- Rosemary (9/5): A lovely hotel in a great location. - Clean, comfortable room , friendly staff , good bar & food.
Great location and ample parking. I had a beautiful ground floor room but unfortunately the room above me had really squeaky floor boards so I had a few very early mornings!
- Gaynor (8/5): -
- Michael (9/5): Very pleasant stay - Very friendly service at reception and bar restaurant.
- Suzanne (10/5): - Location
- Marn67 (4/5): Very cold bar and restaurant - Have stayed here previously. Generally a good hotel and breakfast. Ok, it is mid winter but the bar and restaurant was freezing cold. I pointed this out to the waitress who said it was a nice change as often too hot. Room was freezing until I turned up the setting on the radiator TRV. Meal at dinner was poor with virtually tasteless soup and flavourless fish for the main course. Frozen fish I assume. Breakfast is kept hot and served by a waiter. Ask for poached eggs and these are cooked fresh but the rest of the plate is cold whilst waiting for the eggs. I cannot understand this way of serving breakfast. Would be better to just fill the plate with hot food yourself. I will try elsewhere next time to compare.
- Jessica (4/5): Disappointed with the room and noise - Location Dining room was freezing.
The walls in the bedroom were very thin. We had a terrible sleep. Could hear everything and everyone throughout the night. Noisy floorboards above us.
- Paul (8/5): - Friendly team members. Noisy guests.
- KEVIN (5/5): Distinctly average. - Staff and location Small bed and a very mediocre breakfast
- Debra (6/5): Good location very comfortable bed and lovely bedding & towels - Staff were friendly, bar was lovely, nice grounds and setting Quiet location- no road noise. Rain shower only - hopeless for women who want a shower but not get their hair wet. Hated it.
Also chair in the room was torn and spoiled the decor.
- Jonathan (7/5): Easy and pleasant stay. Rooms could be higher quality finish - Great location, friendly staff. Lovely property. Rooms are always overheated and on the small side. Bathrooms are basic.
- Thomas (7/5): -
- Denise (8/5): -
- milliew383 (2/5): For a birthday - Room was disgusting , towels had weird yellow marks on them not been washed , and our bathroom was filthy with either body hair or dog hair , hairs in our shower to didn’t even want to have a shower !for a four star hotel in a nice area I would expect to be given clean towels and I clean room , very disappointed as most reviews said this was I clean hotel!
- Gemma (10/5): -
- Steven (8/5): Comfortable stay - Comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, excellent breakfast Small number of rooms at the back of the hotel not serviced by a lift - second floor hard on the knees!
- Ramana (9/5): Alderley village is close by - Close to the village and ample parking To many weddings booked as well as birthdays and other functions .
- Donna (9/5): Superb Hotel. Lovely Staff - The staff were very helpful and personable. N/a
- Ellen (10/5): Beautiful location and friendly staff - Beautiful location Nothing

- Christine (9/5): Fine except for car park - Food good. The car park was not all salted and sanded on the first day of snow. I had to walk to the gate and it was very dangerous. The following day you sanded all !?!
