Guest Reviews
- Nand (10/5): - The staff was incredibly nice felt like family.
- D (10/5): - Great experience as expected.
First time back on Nanuya Lailai for 23 years.
- Thomas (10/5): - Staff and activities were excellent. Really enjoyed the snoekelling and cabe trips
- Dean (10/5): - NIR has an old-school Fiji vibe in the best way … warm, friendly, professional staff, lots of singing, dancing, and instrument playing, upscale and nice but not pretentious. They put the B in Bula. Location is beautiful, good snorkeling down the beach and great snorkeling excursions. We thought the food could have been better and the WiFi is a frustrating experience but other than that, 5 stars.
Hot tip … a cruise ship comes in down the beach a ways on Monday for a 2 night (?) stay over, so the beach at the far end becomes inaccessible. We loved that part of the beach so something to know about. Still great without that section but better with it ;-)
- ALARICE (10/5): Amazing place in paradise! - The staff truly made it a relaxing stay. They were never without a smile and made everyone feel at home.
The views and amazing location were unforgettable.
- yevgeniy (10/5): - First things first the "negative". The Buras are located on a hill so you have to climb up the hill to get to them and they also don't have AC. I know that's a point of contention for some. That being said I didn't mind the walk especially because the Bura had an incredible view of the island and the water and was the absolute perfect spot to watch sunsets. It also had a lot of windows so we had a nice breeze all the time and I didn't miss the AC at all. Room was clean and well made with lots of flowers when we arrived. The restaurant didn't have a huge menu as it was a smaller resort but that being said the menu was different everyday and we never had a meal that we didn't thoroughly enjoy. Every meal was fantastic. The staff was probably the best part, it was visible that the staff were trying to make a personal connection with us at every opportunity trying to get to know us and to get to know us by name
- Kevin (10/5): - Everything about this place was great. Food, service and the staff really do make you feel like family.
- Kristina (10/5): - A super special place tucked away on a beautiful island! It is worth the trek out here from mainland, it felt like a true secluded island. The villas were wonderful and spacious, the cabanas were plenty, the staff was incredibly nice, and the food was delicious. Even though there are not really any beaches directly on the resort, you can walk to blue lagoon beach and hang out there and snorkel. The only time you cannot go to that beach is on tuesdays bc of a cruise that docks there, I wish I would have known that. Otherwise it was a wonderful quiet secluded getaway where the staff memorized our names and were the absolute best. There is also a hike you can do to the other side of the island which is only about 1-2 miles. The top of the hill on the hike is a beautiful spot for both sunset and sunrise. The sea cave excursion was also wonderful, I highly recommend it even just for the scenic boat ride! A truly unique and beautiful place all around.
- Nancy (10/5): Good choice while visiting Yasawa islands. - Unique secluded resort to stay in the Yasawa Island chains. After traveling around Fiji on sailboat for 2 seasons, very familiar with land accommodations for our land based guests. This location offers some hiking options, a decent restaurant with limited choices, pleasant staff and a list of unique day trip options to choose from. Not a luxury resort but has its own charm.
- Jac (6/5): - We stayed here for snorkeling only to find their reef is not healthy or good for snorkeling. There is another area you can walk to that is better but only if the cruise ship is not docked there. We organised some day snorkeling trips that were great. If you want to wake up and snorkel choose another island resort.
We had our computer stolen from our locked room. Help was minimal from the Australian owner. Who wrote a message to me in capitals when I requested help from home. They did organise a local police person to come and speak with us.
We witnessed the owner argue with a guest over lunch. All lunch patrons were very subdued that day.
The local staff were amazing and we really enjoyed their friendliness, hospitality and cooking. I wish they could get ownership back and run the place and restore the reef like others are doing.
- Joe (10/5): - Dinners were very good.
- Maksim (8/5): - Staff was amazing and the resort is well worth the journey. No air con in the units, which can be an issue when the humidity peaks.
- Gary (10/5): - Big enough to have great food and services small enough to where you felt like family.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Wonderful view from bure’s. The menu needs more variation eg lunch is entirely taco’s one day (just different flavours), next day lunch is entirely pizzas (different flavours). Lunch is very expensive 30FD for a toasted sandwich. Ran out of snorkelling gear one day because people did not have to return theirs each day. Housekeeping staff did great job - friendly & responsive to requests. Would stay here again
- Fernando (10/5): - Simply the most gentle, kind people I have ever found in hotels, they make you feel like a family, the resort is simple and welcoming, drinks and food were excellent, the tree top bure were cost with a fantastic sea view. We want to return to Nunuya again. ( for transportation use the large vessel, the sea bus which is a smaller boat was way to uncomfortable)
- Paula (10/5): - Beautiful area and beautiful staff. We had a magical time, so relaxing, great food (gluten free meals well catered for on request). Awesome tree top accommodation with stunning views and a great bed. No aircon was fine in July as the humidity wasn’t high. Great activities available. Highly recommend the guided snorkeling trip to the blue lagoon. The staff were amazing and made a real effort to learn you names, teach you some Fijian and laugh along with you. The staff really made the trip. Don’t hesitate, go to Nanuya! Would go back in an instant!
- Brian (10/5): Romantic Getaway with Incredible Food & Hospitalit - My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Nanuya Island Resort! From start to finish, everything was amazing. The food was delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented at every meal.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming, always going the extra mile to help us plan our daily adventures and ensure we made the most of our time on the island.
The resort has a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere that was perfect for a romantic getaway, but there were also plenty of activities and excursions to enjoy.
We made such special memories here and would return in a heartbeat!
- Amy (10/5): - Wonderful
- Brian (10/5): - The resort was nice but the people were amazing. Come as a stranger leave as family. Spider man, Moses, Villey,
- Alexander (8/5): - Good resort style living with staff entertainment, good food and many oppurtunities for activities. The staff do volleyball out by the boathouse if you are looking for something to do before happy hour. The room had all the amenities you would want. However, my room in particular had issues with the fan stopping and causing a loud noise occassionally. Others didn't seem to have that issue.
- Melinda (10/5): - Nanuya Island resort must be one of the most relaxing places on the planet. The treetop burre we stayed in was very comfortable, private, clean and peaceful with a lovely view. The staff couldn't be more welcoming, friendly and helpful and they actually do make you feel like part of the family. The activities offered were excellent, the food fantastic and the massages were divine. While the beach immediately in front of the resort is fairly rocky, it's only a 10 minute walk to a stunning beach where the movie Blue Lagoon was filmed. We actually cried when we left Nanuya and we can't wait to return.
- Michael (10/5): - Amazing stay, lovely hospitable staff, great food fantastic island and area, great activities available from the island.
We stayed 7 nights and loved every night of food, entertainment and daily activities
- Charity (8/5): - The staff at this resort are what truly makes it great. The location is also beautiful. It’s a remote location and the very last stop if you take the Yasawa Flyer to get there (about 5 hours). The resort has one restaurant and bar, free breakfast (or you can pay for a cooked breakfast), lunch and dinner options change daily and are pretty good. We booked the luxury villa and it’s an absolutely stunning location with the most gorgeous views of anywhere we’ve ever stayed. It’s secluded with beautiful grounds, a private patio overlooking the ocean, private lounge chairs near the water, the beach is rocky but beautiful. You can walk to a sandy beach with clear beautiful water. I was a little surprised to discover that the shower and toilet were outdoors, but it wasn’t a bad thing. Obviously still private, just outside. Take mosquito spray. They have some at the resort but it wasn’t very strong. There is only one tiny store on the island so it’s best to purchase anything you need before you go. The staff entertains and plans activities each day. We didn’t do much, but the really enjoyed a week of R&R. Only complaint is that the WiFi is awful. Everyone in remote areas should have STARLINK these days!!
- Robert (10/5): - Awesome
- Angie (10/5): - The staff are exceptional - so helpful and friendly Food was very good- being a smaller resort we felt it had more of a personal touch each day with fruits and pastries in the morning with option to buy other items.
Loads of activities if you want (mostly for fee) or you can just laze on a lounge chair all day. Nice area to snorkel. Room was comfortable but lights were bit dim. We had two sofas and a bed. Shower was huge, little area with kettle and small fridge. Safe was not bolted to anything so that was odd. Nice deck in the back but mainly used communal loungers.
Each day the staff present a schedule which has a day activity and evening activity you can join. There is also often some type of demonstration such as basket weaving. Resort is 5hrs by ferry from Nadi but I would definitely return and recommend
- Angelica (10/5): - Nanuya Island resort was so peaceful. There was a very musical staff that sang to you throughout the day. I loved how the food menu changed everyday and it had the most deliciously unique combinations. The resort was small which made the stay feel very intimate. I also loved your ability to walk everywhere. The staff was very attentive and they made you feel at home. I was sad to leave, but I'll be back.
- K1983WMevab (10/5): Amazing place ! - Nanuya Island Resort was our first hotel during this holiday, where we stayed for several days, and we were truly not disappointed! The welcome was warm, with extremely friendly staff (+++). The deluxe villa was spacious and comfortable, the surroundings were absolutely stunning, the food was excellent, and there were plenty of activities on offer, including the cave visit, which was a real highlight. The area is full of beautiful spots to explore. We highly recommend this place without hesitation!
- Charlene (10/5): - We stayed at the treetop Bure, the view was phenomenal. The Bure was basic but charming and clean. The area around the resort is really well maintained tropical gardens. The resort has a convenience store and a restaurant. Food was healthy and tasty using local ingredients. Daily breakfast included freshly baked sweet and savoury goods. The staff was very welcoming. We felt a sense of community got to learn about the Fiji culture from them. They were also very accommodating in regards to daily activities offered. Overall we loved our stay at Nanua and highly recommend.
- emmagE7943LL (10/5): Best resort in the Yasawas - Stayed 2 nights at the boathouse during our trip to the Yasawas with full access to Nanuya Island resort and wish we had stayed much longer! The setting was beautiful, the staff were incredible - the friendliest people we met and willing to help in any way they could. We went to the caves with friendly Pete and did snorkelling with Moses, both were amazing and so knowledgable about the area. We told Moses we wanted to see a turtle and he fully delivered, what a legend. The food was a particular highlight and we looked forward to every meal and our conversations with the restaurant staff. The Friday night meke was the best end to our trip. Would highly recommend!
- dionne (10/5): - Staff were so friendly and accommodating, grounds were beautiful, food was amazing and activities were wonderful
- puertoaventuras (8/5): A favourite stay in the Yasawa Islands - Nanuya Island Resort is one of our favourite destinations in the Yasawa Islands. We enjoyed our second visit in March 2025. Our first visit was May 2024. The staff is great! We enjoyed our snorkeling trips with Moses and Bill. The restaurant food is great! We had a tree house bure on each trip. The sunsets from our deck were wonderful!
We will be back
- DionneW114 (10/5): Amazing vacation and resort, beautiful island, wonderful staff. - The staff are incredibly friendly and made our stay so enjoyable. The resort is beautiful, well maintained, and the views of the mountains, blue-blue water and sunset are amazing.
Thank you to the activity gang at the Boathouse for the outings, tours, snorkel equipment and so much more.
The welcoming ceremony when we arrived was so special. Thank you Marie for greeting us, helping with resort transfers, explaining the resort to us. The ladies at the spa gave me amazing massages (Maureen, Luccy). Vinaka Pete for the wonderful entertainment and activities .. assisted by so many more. Terrific food and bar service was given by the cooks, Masi, Owen, Tui and others. The cleaning staff were so friendly and did fabulous job with the rooms. There are too many others to list, but thanks to all of you.
Vinaka, Vinaka, Vinaka for an amazing vacation !
- Helen (10/5): Beautiful resort, amazing views! - The snorkeling at the resort is not good at all (don't believe the staff when they tell you to snorkel out front to the wharf or down at the point at the south end of Blue Lagoon Beach), so you have to spend money to go better places but it's only $30 fjd for a guided snorkel outing, you don't have to go far, just across the channel. Other resorts have good snorkeling off their beaches (see Naqalia resort). I heard that Barefoot Manta is the best, Blue Lagoon beach resort has good snorkeling too but when we were there they couldn't snorkel due to high winds. Staff are fantastic, someone sings and plays guitar every night during dinner (plus a welcome song and goodbye song and morning song every morning!). Food is great and had large portions. The views from the treetop bures are fantastic! They don't have air-conditioning but have a strong fan and that was good enough while we were there.
In summary, I would stay here again because it's so lovely and staff are so good, but I would organize a snorkeling trip every day.
- HotPeanut65 (10/5): Three Star Resort with Five Star Attitude. - We (adult family of four) had the best week ever at Nanuya! Where to begin with superlatives?
Comfortable, spotless accomodation with great aircon and ceiling fans.
The environment from beautiful and well tended gardens on site, to the PRISTINE water, beach and coral was faultless. Who needs a pool when you have all that and abundant tropical fish life and coral to snorkel around on your doorstep.
All the Staff were fantastic, professional and fun. From the perfect morning latte to the brilliant cocktail in the evening. The menu was varied, and food delicious. We really rated the kokoda and the chef cooked the fish we caught one day to perfection for our evening meal. We had top notch massages from Lewa and Maureen, all the activities staff were outstanding. Nanuya offered a wide range of activities the following of which we did and loved: snorkeling at an outer reef, fishing, village visit, school visit and the local farm walk. Moses and Pete are two of the many staff who all carefully helped us navigate each activity safely, catering to all levels of age and ability. We will return to go to see the famous caves!
Also one of many highlights for us was when the live in staff sang on a couple of evenings, they were Wow moments for sure. Some mornings they sang as well, we loved their harmonies and obvious pleasure they got from singing to us. Most evenings there was an organised activity or show, we loved them all. We learned about (and participated in) the Kava ceremony, watched and tried tradional Fijian dancing, had a fun karaoke night... nothing was forced, we did the activities we wanted.
So, the location, surroundings the activities and most of all the STAFF meant we had the best time and highly recommend Nanuya Resort to anyone of any age, you will LOVE IT!
- Gaylen (10/5): Best resort to stay n Fiji - The stay was truly amazing, from Sara, to friendly Pete to Maureen in be spa we had an amazing time
- Joel (10/5): - The most perfect stay. The staff really do make the resort what it is and made us feel so welcome from the first minute until the last.
Perfect location for snorkelling and kayaking.
The view from the treetop bure was breathtaking although certain aspects of the room were a little tired and needed updating but this didn’t affect the trip at all.
Would happily return to Nanuya.
- Lindy (10/5): - Very relaxing, laid back. No loud music. Great snorkelling and other day trips.
- Ronald (10/5): - We loved everything. We stayed in a Deluxe Bure for 10 nights and didn't want to leave.
The staff are lovely, caring and efficient. The food is superb, easily the match for any top class restaurant anywhere, and very reasonable prices for generous quantities. We only ever needed one main dish to share at dinner, and usually didn't eat lunch.
Sunbeds and cabanas are plentiful and white sandy beaches are a couple of minutes walk, or straight from your sunbed, down a couple of steps and straight into the sea at any tide, for good snorkeling with plenty of sea-life amongst the coral.
Bures are comfortable, very clean and everything you need.
We have nothing negative to say whatsoever. The farewell from the staff left both of us very close to tears, and both with a determination to return.
- Terry (10/5): - Great time. Staff were amazing.
- Trace (10/5): Super friendly staff - Our lasting memory of Nanuya Island Resort will be the welcoming and friendly staff. Their warmth and hospitality was appreciated - including the songs and entertainment! We stayed in one of the tree-top bures, which was a bit of a hike (especially after dinner). It was clean but quite small. If you're looking for more space and air conditioning, check out the deluxe units.
- Anita (10/5): - A lovely resort. The staff were very welcoming. We stayed in the Treetop Bure. The view was spectacular.
- DerekHulme (8/5): AWESOME STAFF - Nearly everything I can say about this place is excellent, the food generally, the staff, the beach nearby, clear ocean, the room with a great shower area. I went as part of a SwimTrek group, and everyone had a lovely time. I only gave it 4 stars as there was a mysterious and annoying tapping noise on our roof between 12 and 3am on 3 of the 6 nights, and also some us got a gastro bug from the food at the buffet on the last night. The area behind the resort is not very picturesque, but further afield you can take single track walks to the village and other areas through the jungle. I would recommend the caves excursion and the snorkelling, but pick your day as the trade winds can be quite strong(offshore at the resort). On our trip discussion page there was comment from someone at the resort about the amount of tip some people were leaving. This is a totally personal choice and is totally up to the guest, although the staff are definitely worth a decent tip.
- Ravi (10/5): - Highly recommended if you wanting to relax in a quiet environment. Really friendly staff and great food. Access to some amazing snorkeling just a short boat ride away. Thoroughly enjoyed.
- kimbW7412EK (6/5): Wonderful location and staff but... - The good: the staff were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The food was excellent. It was nice to order off a menu and not the usual forced resort meal plan. The tree top Bure we stayed in was lovely (not suitable for those with mobility issues however).
The bad: Really it is just one criticism but it is a big one. The owners were openly unkind to their staff. To the point of making it uncomfortable for us and the other guests. We are not the first to notice or comment on this.
We will not return because while the staff are wonderful, we do not support giving money to owners who treat others with disrespect.
- Steve (8/5): - Great location. Takes five hours by boat to get there
- C R (10/5): - Our 2nd time to Nanuya and probably enjoyed even more than the first time. Our Tree top bure was simply next level in all aspects, especially the view, quietness and very private. The staff are superb and so much fun, they truly make an effort to get to know you without about being intrusive. A beautiful family feeling with staff children being involved in performances and activities. We highly recommend a visit to the school and/or church service and the snorkling at blue lagoon goes without saying. We'll be back again to this magical place!
- siontomosr (10/5): Beautiful setting with excellent staff - My wife and I stayed here during our honeymoon this month.
The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, with their attentiveness being a particular draw to this resort. The food was delicious too.
There's plenty of entertainment and trips that can be taken. We did the cave trip which is certainly not to be missed.
Just a huge thank you to the staff for making our stay so memorable.
- Brian (8/5): - Nice stop cruising the islands. 2 nights here felt like it was sufficient. Beautiful sunsets and great snorkeling, paddling and kayak.
- Yasmin (10/5): - The property was beautiful in its layout and style. The view from our room was breathtaking. The staff were lovely and kind. The little dog Casper made our day every day she was very cute.
- Roz (10/5): - Amazing. Relaxed, really great accommodation in the tree top burrs, friendly and warm staff. Interesting things to do. Long walks round the island. Lovely beaches. Can’t recommend highly enough.
- Rachael (10/5): - I had the best holiday I've ever had. I have never felt so relaxed and recharged. The staff are so amazing and friendly and treat you like royalty, and the scenery is beautiful, the food is excellent. I will never go anywhere else in Fiji and I can't wait to return. Stayed in the Tree top bure and it was so private with a little balcony over looking the water, watched amazing sunsets every night. I felt like I'd been waiting my whole life to go there. The hardest part was going home.
- Mallory (10/5): - One of the most beautiful resorts in Fiji! The staff were very welcoming and got to know us straight away. The daily activities were beyond my expectations and the food was delish! I hope to stay again!
- Dion (10/5): Great spot in paradise. - Great hotel in a great location. Staff were excellent. Food was of good quality, I would have liked for there to be more local Fijian food options through the week, kokoda for a starter, curry option for a main, Ika Vakalolo for examples. Activities available and the activity staff were great.
All in all a very enjoyable stay and would recommend to others.
- pennywU5233YH (10/5): Tropical paradise! Beautiful environment, wonderful people! Best holiday ever! - Tropical paradise!
We loved our stay at Nanuya! I was sad to leave as I felt I had made friends and genuinely felt at home!
The room we had was air conditioned and had a fan . Comfortable and close to restaurant and beach front. The beach in front of the resort was great for swimming after resting under the cabanas or in the sun. A short walk will take you to a beautiful sandy beach. Excellent for swimming, snorkelling and other water activities.
The activities we did included the caves, snorkelling. My husband was able to go spearfishing with Moses and John. Fish caught was shared and some cooked beautifully for us by the chef at resort.
All the staff make you feel welcome and that nothing is a problem! Thanks to them all! Tui, Lagi, Masi and Wilson in the bar/restaurant. Luci in the Spa. Vini our fabulous and friendly cleaner. Nem, Moses, John and Vilimanu who organised and guided us for various activities and visits. The school visit was my highlight. Husband wrapped to get spearfishing. Nancy and Marie thanks to you as well! The team go out of their way to make sure you get to do what you want.
I can’t speak highly enough about Nanuya and can’t wait to return!
- Phillipa (10/5): - This is a wonderful place to stay! The food is delicious even outside of the main fruit season there was a good variety of fruit. The cook must be well skilled as the meals were delicious, generous and well presented. The staff are all so welcoming and helpful. The spa onsite is such a bonus! Any activity we wanted or we just retreated to our very comforable bure or the sunchairs and a book. Highly recommended!
- Bruce (10/5): - Great accomodation food and activities!
- Jenevora (10/5): - The staff are so friendly and treat you like a member of their family. The food is delicious and the service fantastic. Don't hesitate to book this rather special resort.
- time278 (10/5): Friendly and relaxing - This is definitely the friendliest place I have ever stayed. The staff go out of their way to welcome you and ensure a good visit. The treetop bures have amazing sunset views (no air-con but good breezes keep it cool) . Beautiful beach in walking distance with flat sea perfect for swimming and snorkelling.
The resort restaurant is the only place to eat but the food is good and freshly prepared (budget for around F$100 per person per day for lunch and dinner and a couple of drinks)
There is some form of entertainment every night and lots of music. Everything usually finishes up by 9.30 so lots of time to relax and sleep.
You can walk across the island to Lo's Teashop or pay for a trip to the caves or an island village. Or just relax and enjoy the views on the resort loungers. It's not really a family place, more for couples and the more mature traveller.
Thanks to Lagi, Sumia, Nem, Lucy and the newest staff member Casper for making this a really special holiday. Bula! (From Tim and Nicola)
- Devon (10/5): - Beautiful place. Nice amenities. Staff was incredible. Will return.
- Nadine (10/5): - Amazing stay at Nanuya Island Resort. Friendly and welcoming staff. Gorgeous views from our Tree House Bure. The food at the restaurant was delicious. Perfect place to relax and unwind
- DebPattrick (10/5): Yassawa Islands Piece of Paradise at Nanuya Island Resort. - Nanuya Resort met all our expectations. The treetop bures are lovely, clean with an amazing view over the ocean and islands. There is only a small number of bures so this is a quiet relaxing location. The food is delicious and you don't need to opt for a meal plan which made it more flexible and not so expensive.
The waters surrounding Nanuya are pristine and snorkelling was beautiful even straight off the shores. We sighted moray eels, octopus, reef sharks, turtles, many colourful fish and stunning colourful corals. The boat trip to the Sawa-I-Lau caves and swimming inside, guided safely by Moses and team was a bucket list experience - incredible.
The staff are the friendliest we've ever come across in our many travels and were always trying to make everyones stay so special. The daily music supplied by the staff was very cheery with beautiful voices and a talented band.
Staff to mention especially are: the activities team - Moses, Vilimoni, Bill, Rem plus more. The dining staff and musicians: Sunia, Lagi, George and the chefs. Reception: Marie and overall management: Nancy were so helpful and friendly. There were other staff who were also wonderful but I can't recall everyones names to mention unfortunately. Massage was lovely from the Day Spa.
Our only upset was when we requested to travel to visit a nearby clinic on another island as we are health professionals and wanted to say hello there and to see how clinics are running in the Yassawa islands; the Nanuya Resort owner set a rather expensive price for the allocated time we would've had to visit so we couldn't afford to include this in our travels. Apart from this one down point, everything else was super enjoyable. WEe'd love to come here again.
Thankyou to the Nanuya Resort staff.😀.

- Navigate11726341634 (10/5): Warm in more ways than the weather. - Bula!
This is the sixth island we have visited in the Yasawa Islands and is by far the best of them all. There is an ambiance about this place that is hard to capture in words. The Parker family have created a resort that is at once comfortable to be in and at the end impossibly hard to leave.
We stayed in a treetop bure with a fabulous view of the ocean. Simple, idyllic, and also kind of private when we need it to be.
The food was absolutely delicious and beyond reproach.
The one blot was the weather which wasn't perfect, but the staff kept a smile on our faces with their kindness and attentiveness, until the clouds cleared and the sun came out.
Frankly the staff are the best thing about this resort and what make it stand out from all the other island paradises. I do not think I have met a nicer bunch of people, from Nancy and the other girls in the office, Lagi, Tui, Wilson & Barman George in the restaurant tolerating my lousy attempts to speak Fijian, the wonderful hands of masseur Lewu, to the expertise of the boathouse boys Nem, Moses and Vilimoni idulging me with my requests for certain types of snorkel sites.
Last, but not least, I have to mention the musical talents of Sunia and Uria who sang till their throats were sore, morning noon and night, helping create that ambience I referred to earlier.
I especially liked the cava ceremony (also hosted by Sunia), which was made special by most of the staff attending (apart from those still working). These islanders created a sense of community that Kelly and I were happy and flattered to be allowed to join, if only temporarily.

- Craig (10/5): - Beautiful resort and wonderful staff and fabulous food
- Paul (10/5): - Nancy and other staff greeted us upon arrival and made us feel so welcome. The staff really make the resort very special. Great food options and tour options. Moses and Bill made us feel very comfotable in the water. Highly recommend this special place!
- Kevin (10/5): - Great staff, really good relaxed quiet vibe. Very clean and tidy , great villas.Excellent food. Really nice island. Very safe place to snorkle, saw turtle feeding and aload of very colorful fish and live coral. Highly recommend Nanuya Island Resort
- Patricia (10/5): - Magnificent experience. Great resort - location, grounds, great room with views, fantastic snorkeling, awesome Lovo night, kava ceremony, farm walk, lots of ceremonial singing, restaurant serves great food though a little pricey.
Val & her husband who own this island have established a very special magical place.
The staff are amazing here, we felt very much part of the family than a passing tourist. I miss them all dearly.
- ans89 (10/5): Perfect Honeymoon - We spent our honeymoon here staying for 5 nights. We were not sure what to expect as it was our first time travelling to Fiji.
From the moment our booking was confirmed we were very well looked after by Nancy. Nancy ensured our arrival was seamless and went above and beyond for us when our own travel plans encountered a small hiccup.
We were welcomed to the island by Nancy, Marie and some of the staff, before being taken to an incredible honeymoon suite which was completely stunning. We even had a bottle of champagne waiting for us.
The days that followed cannot be properly described or given enough credit. We met amazing people, including the owner Val and her daughter Donna who were very friendly.
Bar man George whipped up the most amazing cocktails every evening complete with a fantastic sense of humour. Dinner was spent devouring delicious meals brought to us with the warmest smile from Polly and Wilson, all while listening to Ura playing the guitar. We looked forward to every evening and the evening activities they had planned for us.
Daily activities can be booked on site and some options included snorkeling, island hopping and visiting the Sawa-I-Lau cave. We spent most of these trips with Moses who was an incredible tour guide. He has immense knowledge of the area and is so happy and proud to share it with people. He was accompanied sometimes by Bill and Vilamoni who were also very knowledgeable and friendly.
All in all, the people, the food, the accommodation, the entertainment and the activities provided by Nanuya are so underrated - it was one of the most incredible weeks of our life. There are so many options if looking for a resort up this way, but this one was fairly priced and way exceeded any expectations we had.
The only negative is that they make it so extremely hard to leave, and it's not because of the accommodation and beaches, but it's because of the people.
10/10. We will be back.
- Stephanie (10/5): - We very much enjoyed our stay. The property is beautiful, the staff friendly and personable. The food was delicious! The tour to the caves was great. The snorkeling down the beach and paddle boards were a nice touch. The treetop Bure had a fantastic view and lovely balcony. I misread the listing that there was no AC but the fan and breeze was adequate for the evening. We recommend a stay at this lovely boutique resort.
- Rumaanah (10/5): - We had a wonderful time at Nanuya Island Resort, it’s nestled amongst tropical greenery. All staff were really friendly and welcoming
- Shinya (10/5): - Staff are very kind and friendly.
- N6295ECterryg (10/5): Unforgettable Experience - Unforgettable Experience with exceptional scenery and heart warming people. Val and her family exceeded my expectations. The resort has been a labour of love for Val and her late husband and they have created a special secluded tropical paradise. The whole staff made it a very special holiday.. Nancy, Lucy, Sarah, Moses, Nan, Marie, Domie, George, Bill, Zac , Levu (massage) and so many I can't remember the names.
- G Scott (10/5): - Beautiful property, really enjoyed our stay!
- joyy679 (10/5): Island paradise, with the most wonderful staff imaginable - My son and I very, very much enjoyed our stay at Nanuya Island Resort! The views there are so beautiful, the people so kind, and the food delicious. It was a paradise! We stayed in one of the treetop bures, which had incredible views across the lagoon, with birds singing outside, just so lovely. The room was very nice and comfortable, with a nice bathroom. Very relaxed and casual, and with a thatched roof and tropical feel...amazing. Our friends were just blown away with the pictures and videos we shared with them. The staff at Nanuya are the kindest, warmest people. They will sing for you and with you, invite you to their sitdown kava ceremony, and everyone knows your name right away. I've never been anywhere like Nanuya, seriously. The food was always different and always wonderful, and really very affordable. There is plenty to do, with kayaks, snorkeling, local crafts classes, day trips to local villages or the special cave island. Swimming through to the underground cave on that trip was very scary for me (I get claustrophobic), but others loved it. And walking along the beach, which you can sometimes have all to yourself, was just beautiful and magical. After our time in Nanuya, we then went on to 2 resorts on Viti Levu, neither of which compared...we were wishing we were back at Nanuya. I would go there again in a heartbeat and highly recommend Nanuya Island Resort! Bula!
- Gordon (10/5): - Nunuya Island Resort was a great find for us on our trip to the Yasawa's. The staff were terrific and made us feel like we were a part of their family. Food was great and it was nice to have options to choose from each day rather than a set menu. Highly recommend taking the Sawa i lau cave trip if you are up for an adventure. The only minor issue was the fact that the AC in our villa struggled to keep up with the heat during the afternoons. Overall a truly amazing stay. Thank you.
- tab19762003 (8/5): Nancy is a huge stand out - From the moment we arrived, we were treated like VIPs.
We were welcomed with a beautiful traditional Fiji song and given free shell lays. They were a lovely touch.❤️
Nancy, the manager, was a standout as she went above and beyond for us for our entire stay. Nothing was too much for her.
The other staff were also amazing Zac the gardener , the bar staff, spa and the water sports guys. Sorry, i can't remember everyones names. However, they were down to earth, friendly and professional.
The rooms were spotless, decorated beautifully, and had breathless views.
House keeping checked on us every day.
The gardens looked like they could have been featured in a home and garden magazine.
The staff were great at making cocktails, and the equipment in water sports was clean and in a good repaired state. And were included in the cost of the rooms
The food was fantastic. Beach was clean. And we were lucky enough to meet the owners of the resort who were fantastic. Thanks, Val and Donna!!
After telling Nancy that I wanted to ask my partner to marry me. She disrectly.....made it happen with the help of the owners.
She upgraded us to the penthouse suite and had the staff bring our luggage from the other room.Nancy decorated it for our celebration. The penthouse( love shack!) was stunning. We enjoyed the privacy of our own beach, private spa, air conditioning, outdoor shower, hot water, fresh towels every day, a safe and perfectly manicured gardens.
We don't have a bad word to say about the resort and will be raving about it to all our family and friends!! We didn't want to leave. Also when we plan the wedding we will definitely be choosing this as our destination
- 271070900 (2/5): Full Fiji Experience - The Resort personnel gave us a full Fiji Island experience and for this we give them 10 out of 10.
Good food, varied menu, lovely people, daily activities listing, fantastic location, great accommodation using both a Delux Villa and Superior Villa with Spa.
There is no swimming pool, but this is a bonus as you step off the grass into the beautiful lagoon.
- HelenNas (10/5): Paradise - Amazing family holiday. Nanuya resort is a beautiful resort, lovey villa with aircon and an oversized and lively outdoor bathroom with 3 showers and a spa bath. We were a family of 4 staying 10 nights.
Favourites:
Guided snorkelling trips with Moses and Vilimoni. Absolutely amazing. We wanted to do it daily. Saw turtles, reef sharks, sting rays, a huge variety of corals and colourful fish. They took us to different sites each time. We all loved the snorkelling so much.
The ocean is crystal clear with a perfect temperature. A short stroll along the sand or kayak across to the point for more snorkelling off shore was also great. We even saw turtles when standing up paddle boarding on the last day.
The food was very good and they made Kokoda (a favourite Fijian fish dish) to order which I loved. Daily massages and swimming in the afternoons made for a perfect holiday.
Everyone is so friendly.
We really loved the music too. Billy is very talented singer and guitarist. Excellent live music every evening at dinner and the fun Bula song every morning at breakfast was great.
We also did the cave trip (not recommended for young kids as there’s a part where you have to swim underwater in a dark tunnel for a few seconds to get to the second cave)
The cocktail menu was extensive and another thing which made the holiday just that.
Thank you to everyone for making our time so amazing. Tui and George at the bar, (Tui is the coolest Fijian on the island!!”) Nancy, Maree were lovely, helpful and welcoming, Amini in the restaurant was always smiling and happy, Moses, Vilimoni, Mike and Bill were fabulous taking us out for day trips in the boat.
Highly recommend. Val runs this resort very well and it shows. Her staff are happy and helpful at all times.
- Vineet Vimlesh (10/5): - The staff were very hospitable and friendly, and went out of their way to ensure a memorable stay. Vinaka vakalevu!
- William (10/5): - A great resort in a beautiful setting. The staff were caring and friendly and made every effort to make our stay enjoyable.
- ronnytravelpilot (10/5): A perfect holiday highlight - After a warm welcome with guitar music, welcome drink and necklace , we found a beautiful place in the middle of paradise.
The staff was very charmant and friendly and indeed, they made from the beginning until the end everything correct and above standard.
We stayed in a tree top bure with an amazing view onto crystal clear water with a charming blue touch.
All in all it‘s a very good resort with a much higher standard and professionalism than all others we’ve seen on a 4 weeks trip.
We came as guests and left as friends with a heart warming good bye, music and flower decoration.
Vinaka for this experience.
See you next time
- amanda (6/5): - If you’re looking for a small quiet resort this would be a great option. Not much going on or very many people. The activities were very nice and the staff was great. I was disappointed in the lack of a/c in our room and the lizards that joined us in bed. We also wish there was more flexibility or eating options. Breakfast is not served till 8, lunch at noon and supper at 5, with us being from a much different time zone it was a little inconvenient especially the breakfast.
- Suzanne (10/5): - Nanuya resort is wonderful!! So welcoming and friendly. Food, snorkeling, amazing. Can not wait to go back!!!
- Adithya (10/5): - Beautiful resort with amazing staff that make your stay a pleasure. Cannot think of one negative - the rooms are spacious, the beaches are pristine and the day trips are very well organized. Overall, 5 stars!
- Andrea (8/5): - The property is situated in a beautiful location, near, but not on a lovely beach. The property has a sea wall fronting it with steps into the ocean. The property is lovely and most of the staff are very pleasant, with a few notable exceptions. The bures are spacious, nice bathrooms, decent beds. Quite a few mosquitos, be sure to bring spray. The biggest negative is that there is nowhere to go really from the property. It feels very isolated. The other thing is that they have strange unwritten rules, for example, if you bring your own alcohol to the property they charge you a corkage fee to drink it on the property. . . .
Overall it is a nice place, probably better for people who just want to lounge around and be taken on an organized excursion than for people who wish to explore the area.
- Andrew (10/5): - Very beautiful and relaxing place
- Trudy (10/5): - We stayed whilst the Nanuya family were grieving their owner/kaumatua/chief's passing and we were embraced as family regardless. The staff's gathering and singing was so emotive and made us feel cherished. An unforgettable stay. Very grateful.
- Nigel (8/5): - The manager and his wife were incredibly rude and dismissive to the lovely Fijian staff. Either been doing it too long or simply never learnt management or leadership skills ( it’s really hard, just treat people as you would like to be treated) there is no doubt the kind and friendly Fijian staff would respond in kind.
Not just our observation and opinion.
- James (10/5): - Very personable experience - very welcoming and hospitable staff - could do enough for us..
- Jasmine (10/5): - This is a fabulous resort. The staff are amazing. The food excellent. The beach clean, the sand soft, the water clear and warm. You need only swim thirty meters off shore in the blue lagoon to float and snorkel over living coral reefs. The resort has snorkel gear for use and single and double kayaks to use. There are no TV sets. There is wifi available but take a few good books to read instead. This is as close to being off the grid as you can get while still being spoiled. The resort is very self sustained with solar power, gardens and water that is treated so you can drink it. The breakfasts included are complete with ample fresh fruit, fresh fruit juices, home baked breads, scones, and treats from the kitchen and preserves. The lunch menu and dinner menu change, lots of fish but also options for those who don’t like sea food or fish. Each night at dinner the staff play guitar and sing beautiful Fijian songs as well as some modern tunes. During happy hour before dinner specialty drinks are half price and you will often see some of the younger people walk the forty minutes thru the jungle from the other side of the island (a small hostel type place called Sunrise is there) to get some drinks and enjoy the comforts of the resort. The walk to the sunrise over the top of the island and then back through the jungle to the beach is under two hours and feels like an adventure - recommended. Take the boat and go there. Leave the kids at home. You deserve this.
- Andrew (10/5): - Wonderful staff. Particularly enjoyed the cave trip and guided snorkelling.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very remote. Perfect - Very remote, which was exactly what we wanted. Everyone is beyond friendly. Very low-key relaxed atmosphere. Not the Ritz. Some items a little worn, but that's part of the charm. You are on island time, Bula!
- dhisadee (8/5): - Exclusivity
- sharon (10/5): - The staff is like family. Activies offered wonderful. Environment morning to night awesome. Amini, Vata, Domni,George,Nancy and the cook staff plus many more were AWESOME.
- Christine (10/5): - The perfect stay. Well maintained property, clean, good water supply etc. free kayaks, snorkelling and the staff were the best, friendly, attentive and helpful. Great food, fresh coffee and lots of home made produce. Out most favourite Island by far.
- Samantha (10/5): - Where do I begin!?
Me and my partner had the most amazing time at Nanuya Resort!
The staff especially Maree and and Moses. They went above and beyond to make our stay perfect!
Thank you and we will see you again one day 😊
- Amanda (8/5): - Stayed in the luxury villa over Xmas. Very relaxing location with great staff. Good for a total switch-off type of getaway. Loved the efforts made by the staff to ensure guests were entertained. Only wish the ‘luxury’ villa had all the anticipated luxury amenities - although the view and privacy were luxurious, the extra touches you might expect for the price were a bit lacking. E.g. spa not working, old linens and outdoor bathroom and kitchen/dining areas were more ‘rustic’ than luxury. But otherwise a pleasant stay.
- Julia (10/5): - The staff at Nanuya Island Resort are all INCREDIBLE. Everyone is was so lovely - we even had drinks at the bar next door with a few on their day off! We especially adored the chef we had for the week, everything she made was delicious and we just adored her!!
- Alex (8/5): - We had a great stay! Staff and their kindness make this place special. Our only suggestion would be to offer breakfast earlier, especially since the sun rose at 5:30am when we stayed. Overall, we had a great time!
- Anita (10/5): - This place is amazing! The views from the treetop cabins are so stunning. A great place for relaxing or organising adventures nearby such as the manta rays in season. Food was excellent. Staff were so lovely and know your name. A really nice place to stop the clock and just chill. Very hard to leave and looking forward to returning next time.
- Jesus (10/5): - From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with a welcome song and a smile. And that warmth continues throughout the entire stay. Aside from the unbelievable views and water activities, the people make Nanuya wonderful. Go. Explore. Delight.
Vinaka.
