Thomas (10/5): - We had a sub basement flat and it was great value. Spacious and near the pool. Could do with some sprucing up in terms of furniture etc but nothing to spoil our stay. The hotel restaurant is what makes it for us. Great food and staff. Best cocktails and the best spaghetti ever. Coffee is superb too. We asked the hotel to leave two pizzas in our room as we were arriving late and nothing is a problem for them. Location is absolutely wonderful on the beach.

Louise (10/5): Bedste beliggenhed - Skønt hotel med en vidunderlig beliggenhed. Lejlighederne er lidt kedelige, og sovesofaerne i stuen er meget hårde. Ydermere mangler der lidt knager, hylder og kunst. Men beliggenheden, med den gode strand og restaurant på hotellet trækker meget op. Vi havde 10 dage på hotellet og havde en balkon som vendte den „rigtige vej“ som er i skyggen når det er juli måned :)

Little supermarket on the the hotel side 1 min walk . Or u can go to the main SYNKA 2 min by car , 10-15 walking . Free parking Beach is clean and amazing. Sun beds and table cost 15 Euro by the beach or free on the pool.. we bought our own umbrella 25 euro and left there :) The restaurant is amazing with good prices and quality and staff were nice .

troelsp2017 (6/5): Good, but with some hiccups - Our stay at Golden Bay Suites from May 10th to May 17th was generally pleasant, but unfortunately, it was marred by some uncomfortable incidents that affected our overall experience. Our biggest challenge was the lack of remote controls for the air conditioning units, which resulted in us not being able to use the air conditioning for the first three days of our stay. We arrived on Saturday evening around 8 PM, and there was no staff on the premises. Sunday did not bring any resolution either, and it was only on Monday afternoon that we were given a single remote control for the three air conditioning units in the apartment. This made our first few days quite uncomfortable, especially due to the weather conditions. We had to open the windows at night, which resulted in our 4-year-old child having 30 to 40 mosquito bites the next morning. Another concerning incident was the discovery of a wasp nest in the bathroom. It took two days from when we reported the issue for it to be removed. We had to request action twice, which was quite concerning for our safety and comfort. Finally, the freezer in our room was faulty and could not close properly, resulting in water leaking everywhere inside the fridge. We reported this issue to the reception, but it was not fixed during our stay. This also meant that the ice cream we bought melted, and we had to throw it away. It was only on the last day, 30 minutes before check-out time, that the janitor asked if he should fix it. Despite these issues, we were generally satisfied with our stay and appreciate the efforts of the staff. We had hoped for some form of compensation for the inconveniences we experienced, but unfortunately, our request was denied. We hope that our feedback will be taken into consideration to improve the experiences of future guests.

lynnaK2797CS (8/5): Perfect location - First solo trip and this hotel was perfect location for me. The room itself was fine and comfortable, although a little dated in places was kept very clean by staff . I had a semi basement room which was ok for me , I didn’t use the outside area with it due to being so close to pool and therefore could be noisy and often had ball hitting windows , not a real issue for me though. The hotel grounds are beautiful and location amazing. There is bus stop within walking distance takes you to Chania town . Only issue I would say was sunbeds and people putting towels on them to reserve them . On vacating my room there is place for freshening up and leaving suitcase .

There were a couple issues that would have made the stay nicer...One of the doors to the patio had only one hinge, so it couldn't safely be used. It should have had a sign on it for safety. That door also didn't have blackout curtains and make it hard for the kids to sleep because of the lights on the property all night. Didn't tell me until the last night. I thought it was just the sun in the morning. It would have been really nice if there had been dish soap and dish towels for the kitchen area. We did use the kitchen. It worked fine. The pool area is nice, and the loungers have the best cushions, but so limited and not enough shade. At the beach you pay 10 Euro for 2 loungers and an “umbrella". We went out to try one morning, but all were already taken. We didn't try again. Food at the restaurant was good but took a while and sometime took a while to be recognized by staff to order if not sitting in the restaurant. They do work long hours and are pretty busy. Water is less expensive if you take away. We got lucky with parking. It wasn't too bad during the week, but weekends can be harder to get a spot. It is a public lot for the beach. Other restaurants and grocery in walking distance.

They are the face of this accommodation and should be commended for the excellent work they do and go that extra mile with a smile on their face. The property is in an awesome location and if i was to return, i would be definitely going back, the view and location is to die for. Aidin (4/5): - This hotel must have been good at some point, but it feels like it's running on fumes now. I heard a staff member say there are doubts as to whether they will be operating next year. The not so good: We arrived to trash in the walkway to our room, which wasn't cleaned until after stray cats had had their way with it overnight, and we had to report it to front desk. Information on cleaning schedule was shared incorrectly. We only found our later that towel service was every second day, so dirty towels left on the floor were picked up but not replaced on alternate days. The room floor was also covered in sand on our arrival. I understand it's a beach front property and some sand is bound to get into rooms, but I would have assumed it would get cleaned, at least when there is a turnaround in guests in each room. The positives: Location and the beach in front of the hotel are great. There's easy access to Chania, and also attraction further west. Hotel staff were generally helpful and polite. The restaurant at the hotel is quite good.

Zwei kleine Mankos sind, dass die Liegen am Strand nicht inklusive sind (10€ zwei liegen und Schirm) und die Küche keine Minimalausstattung wie Salz,Pfeffer und Öl hat. Das sind aber wirklich Kleinigkeiten.
Elisabeth (8/5): Familjärt o snyggt hotell med nästa tänkbara läge! - Fantastiskt läge vid stranden! Snyggt och familjärt hotell med grön och fin utemiljö. Trevlig pool och bra service! För en familj på 4 tyckte vi att lägenheten var i minsta laget och hade önskat bättre utrustat kök. Rummen var något mer slitna än vi förväntar oss men helhetsintrycket ändå positivt. Tex saknade duschen en vägg/draperi så allt blev blött när man duschade. På det hela taget ett mycket trevligt hotell för den som söker ett lite lugnare område med hög komfort och nära till lokalbussen till Chania.

Maureen (8/5): - This was a great value for a family. The room we had was great, although we had issues with the A/C but not the end of the world since the weather was not extremely hot. Pool area was lovely. Would have been nice to have an iron in the room but instead we hung what we needed to get creases out on the patio and the humidity and air naturally straightened it out. The restaurant was excellent, the service was exceptional there and the staff so pleasant despite that you can see they work very long days. The beach is lovely and lots of nearby areas to walk and eat. Was unimpressed when the hotel staff on day three started to ask guests for $10 euro each to use the sun beds which was stated no where (they only asked when it was sunny!) . That really put us off, we didn’t pay and laid on the sand instead. Overall though a great stay, room worked well for a family.
Philippa (10/5): - Had a really amazing holiday here, great location on the beach and always had available beds around the pool when we went. The staff were really friendly and plenty of restaurants around the hotel within walking distance. Reception were more than happy to book taxis for us to get to the old town which was lovely to visit for food, boat trips and a couple of museums on the cloudier days.
ANDREA (10/5): - The hotel offers everything listed and more!! The views from the hotel's beach are amazing!! The staff are very kind and accommodating. The restaurant is delicious, there's plenty of variety for breakfast, and the cocktails are great! The room has many amenities, it's spotless and spacious. I booked an in-room massage service, and it was truly great and relaxing. Also, very convenient. One thing not mentioned online is that right under the hotel, by the beach, is a convenient store with a little bit of everything you'll need to relax at your stay. Lastly, if you take a walk around the area, there are plenty of nearby delicious restaurants that are worth a try.

desertrunner01 (8/5): Nice apartment but no pool lounge chair policy! - The apartment is nice, daily cleaning, WiFi in the apartments close to the reception is fine. One big disadvantage: they allow people to reserve the pool loungers with a towel. At 9 in the morning, nobody is sitting on a lounge chair, but all off the loungers have got towels in them.. Today end of day, the first towels were already there. They do not take them away which is absolutely ridiculous!
laurine (6/5): Bon séjour malgré quelques déceptions - Bon séjour globalement. Quelques petits bemols: nous avons bénéficié d'une chambre non-rénovée de l'hotel. Le mobilier était ancien, de la peinture écaillée. La kitchenette etait inutilisable. L'ancien frigo incorporé etait HS donc nous dispossions d'un frigo en plus dans la chambre. Frigo qu'il etait nécessaire de débrancher si on voulait se servir de la bouilloire. D'autre part, peu de transat disponibles autour de la piscine, certains réservés dès le levé du jour. Quant à la plage, il faut s'acquitter de 5 euros pour un transat même si vous residez à l'hotel. Cependant, belle plage, et hôtel à 15 min en voiture du centre de la Canée. C'est peut-être l'ambiance hotel qui ne nous cenvenait pas.

Outi (8/5): Lovely stay - Spacious, lovely stay. Apartment was spotless and hotel by the beach. Only negative thing was the beach in front of the hotel. There were only like 5 random chairs and no umberellas at all, it could have done some raking too. Reception wasn't open all the time, but it didn't brother me - it was still fairly quiet.

Dawn (8/5): Excellent suites on the beach - We really enjoyed our stay! The location is great. You can walk along the beach, there are many restaurants and it’s a short walk to the main road through town. We traveled with 2 adults and 2 children ages 10 and 12. The suite is set up with one bedroom and a living room with two couch beds. Each kid had their own bed. We also had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and the beach. Beach has chairs and umbrellas for a small fee. The restaurant serves great food and the service is amazing. I only had two small “complaints”. 1) the wifi in our room wasn’t great. However it was better at the pool and beach. 2) the room was a little tight on space for our family of 4. But we were off doing activities and swimming so it wasn’t that big of a deal. Overall, excellent stay and I highly recommend staying here!
Gisela (6/5): - Negative: - I booked for a standard apartment with sea view. Well, they gave me a room, with swimming pool view and very behind, if you went very outside the balcony you could see the sea a bit. When I talked to the receptionist about this, they assumed it wasn’t a good room but they said they couldn’t do anything as the hotel was fully booked. After insisting and speaking to them for about 30 min they offered me to come back the day after as they were going to have another room with a better view of the sea. They also offered an upgrade to a higher category and sea view room BUT with an additional fee per night, which was supposed to be free because this was a VIP hotel. - The room should be described as “partially sea view” which would be more accurate, because it’s very far from the sea and the view is partially. - Wifi it’s terrible and they said it’s because wifi is only available in common spaces, not in rooms. - there were ants on the kitchen table and the floors, and I didn’t have food at all. POSITIVE: - Location is good, a lot of restaurants and shops near the hotel - it has its own beach - the restaurant is one of the best things at this hotel. Good food quality and nice people! - The proper sea view room was very nice, except for the ants!
Evangelia (10/5): Great Family Hotel in Crete - Our visit at Golden Bay was perfect. The room was clean and had a huge balcony with excellent views of the bay. There was a great pool for the kids with plenty of pool floats and toys to borrow. There was also access to the beach and a wonderful restaurant on site. Also, 15 minutes to city and 30 minutes to airport. Highly recommend!
Brittany (6/5): Welcome to the barracks - The hotel is basically an old Air Force barracks, and they’ve made very little improvements or changes to the rooms. The lobby was fresh and nice , but the rooms were stale and dated.

goconst (10/5): Perfect location, excellent restaurant - The location of the hotel is on the beach, in a perfect location. The news in this year is the existing bar transformed in an excellent restaurant, serving delicious Cretan and international food. Their Gemista (peppers, tomatoes and zucchini filled with rice and herbs) is the best we have ever found all over the island in our previous trips in Crete. Try also Chef's Lamb and the Mousaka and you won't regret. Kind and professional staff and always smiling faces. Well done, team!

Det var en meget fin oplevelse for min familie og jeg at gæste Golden Bay, flotte omgivelser , dejlige suiter som var top fine. Golden Bay var perfekt til vores familie udflugt på 9 personer i aldre fra 1,5 til 74 år. Placeringen på stranden var ideal.
MIREILLE (8/5): Ravis de notre séjour - Nous avons passé une très bonne semaine au golden bay. Très belle plage de sable en pente douce avec un très beau coucher de soleil. Piscine agréable avec une partie pataugeoire pour les enfants. Les appartements sont spacieux avec une bonne literie. Bon accueil des hôtesses qui nous ont aidé à appeler un docteur. Quelques restaurants aux alentours mais il faut 15 minutes de voiture pour aller à la Canée avec toutes les distractions souhaitées.
kaoutar (8/5): - Nous avons résidé 8 jours à golden bay, l appartement était très propre, tres bonne situation géographique, nous sommes en face de la plage ce qui est très pratique avec des enfants. Les parties communes étaient très bien entretenues, joli piscine et décor extérieur tres sympathique. Concernant les points negatifs, malheureusement il y en avait... en raison de la crise sanitaire, le ménage était fait tous les 3 jours... donc des serviettes propres tous les 3 jours, pas de micro ondes dans l l'appartement ( avec de jeunes enfants ce nest pas pratique) il n y avait pas de kit ménage, rien n'était fournis pas de sac poubelle, éponge ect... L accueil est ouvert de 10 à 17h donc en cas de besoin ce nest pas pratique. Les prix des cocktails et softs drinks au bar de la pisine nest pas donné... 2.80 euros le limonade de 25cl.
Carolina (4/5): - We booked what they claim to be the best room/apartment in the hotel. However, the AC of the bedroom was not working the first 2 nights! Yes there was another functioning AC in the living room, but even with the door opened was not able to cool down the bedroom. Imagine July in Greece without AC. And although we raised the topic to the hotel right when we arrived (and noticed the issue), it still took them 3 days to fix it - they sent someone in the first day that didn’t solve anything, the next day we complained again and nothing was done and only on our third day after sending an email to the hotel, they finally resolved the issue for our final night. Additionally, the hotel looks overall a bit dated and noisy, if you stay in one of the rooms close to the street (on the side of the beach bar). So although sunset views are truly amazing, all and all definitely not worth the money we spent there!

olemhole (8/5): Hotel at the beach - My family and I stayed at Golden Bay Suites in July 2019 for the third time during the past ten years. The hotel is well driven with a friendly staff, and it is nice and clean. The rooms have been through some improvements since our last stay. Swimming pool is a bit smal, but for falilys with small children it works well. The hotel restaurant is ok, with a range of traditional dishes, and works well for a quick lunch meal during the day. It is a fantastic place to sit and enjoy the sunset and a drink. The location of the hotel is the big plus - right at the beach and in a nice and quiet area with several other nice beaches whitin walking distance. Also there are several really good tavernas in the area. We enjoyed our one week stay!

Burt_1 (6/5): Stylish and modern - Very stylish, modern clean and comfortable apartment complex, however would benefit from a few improvements. Excellent location, right on the beach, however, shame that there is a 5 Euro per person per day charge to use the sunbeds on the beach. Bumps up the price of the stay. Sunbeds on the beach should be free to residents, otherwise the advantage of a beachfront location is nullified. Cooking facilities in the rooms are limited (two hotplates and a kettle). No oven and no microwave. Took food with us but unable to cook it. Could do with more parasols by the pool, struggled to find shade at times. Friendly staff and very close to bus stop for easy access to Chania.
Despina (8/5): Nice stay!! - Very nice and clean family room but without enough space to tide your clothes..also no shampoo only small soaps.. The aircondition on the kids room was not working well, we should keep it working for hours in order to be cool enough! As we complain but nobody came to fix it! The beach there is amazing with beautiful view! I will visit it again!

Ian (10/5): Ideal relaxing beach holiday - Ideal for families as great safe bathing beaches on the doorstep. Great for a relaxing beach holiday. Chania 1.20 Euro (prepaid or E2 on bus) on bus you can catch 50m from hotel. Taxi rank nearby 8 Euros to Chania. Not many sun beds by pool and 10 Euros for a couple of beds and a brolly on the beach but as long as you are aware of this it isn’t really an issue. Try the other beaches only a few minutes walking distance away for a nice change of scenery. As mainly a family resort don’t expect a vibrant nightlife but plenty of local tavernas and then enjoy the sunset. The food and drink at the hotel beachfront was good if you didn’t want to venture out and a great place to watch the sunset. Sad to leave really.

Mk (10/5): Superb suite, right on the beach - Golden Bay Suites are one of the best we've had in Greece - spacious, stylish, very comfortable, well equipped. The complex also is very welcoming, with a very good pool and a first-rate snack bar, with other restaurants nearby. Very friendly and helpful staff. Agios Apostelos town is a bit disappointing, being just a suburb of Chania, without a center of its own. But bus into Chania stops within site of the suites, and runs every 20 minutes.
Ines (8/5): I recomend this hotel - This hotel is perfect if you have kids. The beach was very quiet (we were there end of may) its on a bay, so kids can enjoy the sea safely. Its right on the beach. There is a kids playground behind the hotel. Attached to the hotel you have a little market were you can buy everything you need. There is lots of restaurants nearby. The hotel is in a quiet town but lots of grocery stores and restaurants near, even a family restaurant. You can take a bus to the town, there is a bus stop behind the hotel. There is also train trips for 20 euros from behind the hotel to go in the little towns nearby for visits. The person at the reception was very kind.
Dena (10/5): Golden Bay Suites - September 2017 - I had an amazing room with a direct, unobstructed view of the beautiful beach. The little kitchen was perfect for preparing little meals until I went out to enjoy the local nightlife. The room was modern and extremely clean and comfortable. Eleftheria in particular at the front desk was so helpful in planning my transit to/from the airport and in giving me tips about things to do in the local area. I would definitely stay at Golden Bay Suites again!!!
Mike (8/5): Great location - We were recommended this hotel and it certainly is in a great location. Close to Chania town but on a sandy beach. The hotel staff were lovely and the hotel in general was modern and very clean. The exception to that was probably the room we had booked a semi basement room. The room was dark and dingy and had not been updated. The bathroom was tiny. We upgraded to another room and were much happier but obviously it put the cost of our stay up. I would urge customers to check on their room status before arrival. Having said that we had a great holiday there and would recommend it to friends.

Angela (10/5): Lovely apartments right on the beach - Beautiful apartments - modern, clean and spacious - very comfortable with new, well maintained fixtures & fittings. well stocked kitchen and bathroom. Room cleaned every day. Towels changed on request. Right next to beach; close to taxi rank and bus stop. Bar reasonably priced and a great place to watch the sunset. Pool area always clean and well-kept. Staff were so friendly and helpful - always keen to do as much as they could for you. As with all eco-friendly hotels, there's no hot water early in the morning because they use solar power. Free wifi had good reception in the room. Air conditioning was free and worked well, not noisy.
Russ (10/5): An Awesome Place - An amazing place that felt like home the minute we arrived (well, once we checked in). A perfect location, right on a beautiful strip of beach. The on-site restaurant served good food from early morning to late in the evening, drinks as well. This is the only stay on our our three week European trip that had a coffee maker in the room, very welcome for us North Americans who need their daily ration. Even though it is a ways out of town, the bus passes within a few hundred meters and is only slightly more than one Euro per ride - much better than driving to town! A perfect spot for someone who wants to be in a quiet neighborhood, but desires easy access to activities and town.

nicoletter436 (10/5): Perfect Paradise - Our first trip to Crete, had 2 - 3 night stays during our 2 weeks on the island and it was the best place for the 9 of us. Great beach location, friendly staff who felt more like family. Basic menu covered all the bases never had to leave. Sunrise sunset, cocktails, fabulous views and clean rooms all with a view and balcony! Look forward to our return!
OlivierV655 (6/5): Disappointing!! - We stayed here for two days because ammos hotel was full. Nice location and spaceious room. Cleaning could be better, strang smell in the room and bad insonorisation. No value for money. We pay a lot more in ammos hotel but do iT with pleasure.
BackpackTim (10/5): Simply Awesome - After 2 months living out of our backpacks, this was a dream come true. We booked for 5 days, and this is now day 8...we still have no plans to move it's that awesome. Here's why you should come: 1) It's right on the beach. The beach is called Sunset Beach for a reason...the sun slides into the sea every night. You can watch it from your hotel room (assuming you've got a view though we don't), the patio bar, or the sand in front of the hotel. 2) Rooms are big compared to other rooms. We're a family and the kids each have a small single bed that can be a sofa during the day. We have our own separate room. There's a kitchenette with a decent sized mini fridge. No microwave though. You can get supplies at the mini-market in the hotel or 10 minutes walk to the INKA supermarket for cheaper fare. 3) Friendly staff both at the front and at the patio bar. Front staff is happy to help you with anything from tour booking to getting an extra pillow. The patio bar is overlooking the sea and has postcard views of the Med. It's open all day to midnight. Beer and food are a bit expensive and not exactly gourmet but the view and the service make up for it. We love to hang here. Best of all , the wireless is strong enough to make it here (I'm literally typing this from a table there sipping on an ice cold Heineken). Beer selection is great. 3) You are outside of Chania, but the bus stop is steps away from the front so you can go into the city anytime you need an urban fix or to see all the museums and sites. 4) There are many good restaurants within walking distance from here. Many are right on the beach, and I mean RIGHT on the beach. One had waves crashing right up to the foundation. 5) It feels like a resort here, but for a fraction of the price. We're on a budget and travelling long term, so we appreciate being able to stay at such a nice place and still not break the bank. After spending 10 days (and counting) here, we have yet to come across a similar hotel with similar amenities for a reasonable cost. It's the best in the area.
