Guest Reviews
- JIANCHENG (10/5): -
- Evgeniia (6/5): - it's stuffy
- Nicholas (9/5): - I had the private double room. Kettle, fridge, balcony, en-suite, and ample sized room. Everything was clean and worked. Owner was welcoming. Decor was simple but then I wasn't paying Ritz prices. Would definitely use Sleep Sheep again. Location was perfect: Old Town down the road, Sunday market literally on the doorstep, and Bus Terminal 1 a couple of minutes or so walk away. Nothing comes to mind.
- Ali abdullah (10/5): - Çok temiz Sevmediğim bişey yok
- Richard (9/5): - They were very friendly and i was upgraded as my room had no window and it was the size of a rabbit hutch The outside lights could do with being turned of early as they shon through the window
- Ismail (10/5): - Gratis koffie, schoon, netjes, rustig, top locatie. Goed georganiseerd. Zeker aan te raden. Kan alleen spreken voor de kamertjes, eigenlijk gewoon een mini hotel ervaring Niets
- Carlos (10/5): - Amazing place near the centre of town, affordable and friendly!

- Marcia (1/5): Terrible place to stay… they left you on your own, - I didn’t like anything… Each bed has a personal fan, but mine was completely broken and damaged. When I arrived at my bed, there were two used cups. I reported it to the reception, but nothing was done—the cups stayed there until the day I left. Another issue was that my bed didn’t have a blanket. Again, nothing was done, and I had to take one from another bed. Shower doesn’t get warm … tried multiples times
- Stan (7/5): Good -
- Frank (8/5): Decent stay but first floor rooms are noisy - Great location It's next to a nightclub, so the base from the music is disturbing until past 2am. This is the second time staying here. I stayed on the first floor this time and on the second floor last time. The first floor room is very noisy from the combination of the nightclub and the reception area where people are talking and being really loud until 2 am when reception is closed. This place is a decent place to stay. I would just request a room on the upper floors.
- Thom (7/5): Great central place, price/quality can be worked on, nonetheless still lovely people - Lovely place nearby old town with facilities everywhere nearby. Very peaceful and quiet. Nice host as well. Maybe adjust the price a little bit. Later after my stay i realised for the same price i could get a lot more. You guys are lovely nonetheless and the cats are amazing too!
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alina (10/5): Good value for money - Lovely location, small but comfy room Nothing
- Emily (6/5): Pleasant -
- Thomas (3/5): Location good but hostel wasn’t. However staff were nice. - Location was really central and the market was really good! Two out of my group of four didn’t have blankets, the showers weren’t great and only one toilet and two showers for a whole floor (6 dorms). Towels and sheets were dirty.
- Hisuiichan (9/5): Superb -
- Braguier (3/5): Poor - It's clean and the location is nice The bed was horrible, I've never seen a mattress that hard. And every time you move the bed shakes and it makes metallic sounds.
We rented a scooter and it was just dangerous at this point. We had flat tires, brakes were horrible but the main thing is that the scooter was stopping whenever the road was a bit too steep, same to accelerate at a red light.
And don't wait for them for apologies or to find another solution.
- Tayyib (9/5): Very clean and professional hostel - Great location in the old town close to all the go to spots in town. Very very clean and a great aesthetic, on par with some hostels I've stayed at in Europe. There are also private rooms available for a bit more. Bit more expensive than other hostels but still good for the price.
- Arjun (6/5): Pleasant - The property is located in a central area of Phuket with lots of bars and restaurants right next door. Its easy to rent a car and drive from this property to the main beaches of Phuket and beyond. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and are willing to help arrange tours and travels both in Phuket and beyond. The rooms were cramped and uncomfortable. There weren't any windows in the room which can make you feel quite claustrophobic at times. The beds are also not the greatest to sleep on and the shared shower/toilet facilities are also pretty tiny to your clothes and belongings get quite wet as a result.
- James (10/5): great value for money and close to the piers for tours to the islands - quiet location, off the main road. close to bus terminal. lots of places to eat nearby. the hostel was fantastic. private room was best I have stayed in and great value for money. no negative comments
- William (7/5): good but could have had a better nights sleep because of the mattress - location and staff are brilliant the mattress as they are very hard.
- Jack (7/5): Good -
- Saravanan (8/5): Very good - Hostel is in prime location of the old Phuket town easy to access many attractions, single bed in small room. Room has a smell and water pressure in shower was less
- Saravanan (8/5): Short and good stay in the central place - Prime location in the centre, 10 minutes walk from Phuket bus terminus 1, easy to get to market, Sunday market 6 pm to 11 pm was good. Got a small individual dorm room at reasonable price. The water pressure is quite slow, there was weird mild smell in the room
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfekt läge! - Supertrevlig värd! Perfekt läge för den fina gatan och söndagens marknad! Valuta för pengarna! Nära busstation! Skulle rekommendera
- Verified traveler (8/5): short stay - I have stayed in a private room for 2 nights and one and only the myanmar hostel staff is very nice, friendly and professional. upon arrival, they cant find my booking, even though there were comminication barrier, she manage to help me to contact the hostel Manager to settle my check in.
The room was clean with comfortable bed .
The only negative part of this hostel do not provide a lift , it is not convenient if you are travel with heavy trolley bags, and my room is near to main common area, on the first night, in the mid of 2am, a group of Thai Tourist check in with loud noise that wake me up, so i didnt sleep well for the first night.
There is a mini shopping mall called lime light witthin 10 min walk and a mini Indy night market provide some delicious local food with wallet friendly prices.
- LaurenBagwell (6/5): Great staff but you can find cheaper and nicer spaces in the area - I use Hostel World for all my hostel bookings. Me and a friend booked Sleep Sheep during a layover to try and sleep for 6-8 hours after site seeing before continuing on. The staff was very accommodating and spoke English but the hostel was very average. The AC in our room was out and both my friend and I had stains on our pillows and sheets. We also were not able to ever connect to the Wifi which is fine. We ended up not staying and booking a room around the block at a different hostel. Like I said it had to do with the rooms themselves, not the staff. I've read other reviews of people who have had great experiences here but for us, we had been spoiled by our hostels in Bangkok and Chiang Mai and were slightly disappointed.
- 613jasone (10/5): Excellent! - Very pleasant hostel, well designed, colourful rooms, comfortable beds, friendly staff. Could benefit by having a locker for bags perhaps but there is a small locker by the bed for passport and other smaller valuables. It's a good location, being on the edge of the Old Town, many restaurants nearby. Definitely stay here if you get the chance!
- Travelchief88 (10/5): Cozy, clean spot in Phuket Old Town - Have recently started using hostels during my travels & it's because of unique places like Sleep Sheep that have made me comfortable with choosing them over actual hotels. Clean, cozy, reasonably priced & convenient location near all of the cafes & walking street in Phuket old town. I went during the vegetarian festival & the owner Ling was kind enough to take me to the parade & give me insight on the meaning & tradition. Very friendly & assisted me in organizing activities. Would recommend this spot to travelers
- johannal205 (10/5): Great! - I stayed here two nights and loved it. The owner is reallly friendly, speaks well english and gives you good tips. The interior is with lots of love and the location is perfect. Its is directl next to the bus stop of the airport bus and in the old town! I would definitely come again!
- michelleandroid6 (4/5): fan dormitory - sweltering and not not clean - We tried to stay in a private room but they all smelled of mildew.
We stayed in the mix dorm, fan only, 8 person room. No one else stayed there at the time. Main problem were the fans...one large room fan (excellent but not pointed at the beds). Each bed had a small fan fixed to the footboard. These fans pointed forwards but blew a thin stream of air out the sides. Hopeless. Since the staff left at 7pm we were the only ones there besides two old men (staying in other rooms) so it was kind of creepy.
Common areas in Sleep Sheep are great! Coffee is decent too (espresso opens at 8am). They provide towels and lockers with keys.
Met two Canadians on their way out when we checked in...their opinion was "basic with no hostel culture"
We only stayed one night
- GreenyM123 (10/5): Basic but excellent staff - I came here in December 16(sorry for the late review) with my mom. Whilst most people staying here were travellers,we were just on a budget holiday for 2weeks. During our 2weeks staying here we were made to feel extremely welcomed by the lady who run it daily! Can't remember her name. She gave us great advice about the best places to visit and even offered to cook food for us! Although this hostel is very basic, you get what you pay for! Great cheap prices! And excellent customer service! Would highly recommend. Thanks for making our holiday even better!!
- mich112019 (8/5): Cheap short stay - The location in the old town is great, far better than Patong. Stayed for one night in an air conditioned double room. Basic but clean and had own shower and toilet. Dorms are available. Reception were really friendly and helpful. Have had a refurbishment since the last time my gf stayed, they have bought the next door building and have a lovely communal area at the front. Still in the process of finishing the refurbishment.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Much brighter & quieter than my previous visit , 10 years ago ?!
- 781rocky (10/5): Short visit - I just had arrived to Phuket town to check it out and try to find a tour stall before almost giving up, I found some good reviews for this place on hostelworld and decided to go and check if they could help us, we were met by the sweetest old lady who could have been my mom, who helped us book tours and call around asking for us, the friendliness and help we got was of the highest on my month trip so far through Asia.
- Laura (2/5): Low budget hostel.great host - Our stay was well accommodated. Very low budget accommodation great host. Wouldn't stay again due to being s low budget hotel
- 297tateb (10/5): Incredibly welcoming - While there are still some kinks to work out at this hostel (minor Wi-Fi issues, incredibly hot rooms), I'm giving it a 5-star review purely because of the hospitality of the owner. She is the sweetest woman I met on my trip to Thailand -- and I visited 6 cities! She went above and beyond with helping my friends and I with directions, supplying rides, giving advice, and getting to know us.
The rooms are big and the bathrooms are really great! I also loved the location. It's right next to the main strip of Old Phuket -- a very relaxed, artsy part of town with great restaurants and cafes everywhere.
I highly recommend staying here for a very low cost and great customer service!
- larissas461 (8/5): Cheap & good - I booked this hostel only for one night and it was incredibly clean! I paid only 300 baht for a bed in a room with A/C. The only bad thing about the hostel is the Wi-Fi. It was working pretty well when I got there, then suddenly it stopped working. I talked to the lady at the reception, but the internet did not get better. Also, the hostel was very empty. I did not see any other guests there and I had a 8bed dorm only for myself (which was actually quite good). Also, the region around the hostel is dead.. nothing to do at night.
- FreyaBee94 (6/5): Backpacker Hostel - Not bad for a backpacker hostel as it was clean except for the sheets (stained). One tiny slow fan per bed made for the worst nights sleep of my life in the heat but hey it's cheap-ish. The cleaner was really lovely but receptionist was standoffish. Good location if you're catching a bus to/from the hostel.
- 537pattricka (8/5): Great Value - I've book this hostel from agoda for only 252 baht per night . This place is very tidy , the toilets are clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly . Lovely place near old city , very convenient to go for sightseeing
- annabellasophieh (8/5): Backpacker - Hi everyone,
We were in the sleep sheep hostel for two nights and it was a very comfortable stay! Very friendly and helpful personnel! We lived in the domatory room witch ac. We also took a look in the douple rooms and there were as clean and tidy as our room. Also the bathroom and the toilets were very clean!
We could just recommend this hostel for backpackers, as we are and every other people who want to stay in phuket town for such a cheap stay!
By the way it is hard to find, you have to turn left at a motorcycle hous. The hostel has coulerful windows.
Nice stay there!
- davenshery (8/5): Very cost effective - We booked sleep sheep on the fly and felt that we got great value for 800baht/day. The private room was clean, had a great ac and was a perfect spot to rest and shower up. The room was a bit dark without a view, but considering the price it was fine. It was also in walking distance to restaurants and stores. They also helped us set up transportation to the big buddha (900baht) and ferry to koh phi phi (400baht- ferry and shuttle fee). We had a couple of hours to spare before our shuttle picked us up, and the receptionist was nice enough to let us leave our backpacks in the hostel while we walked around for a bit.
Overall, we would recommend sleep sheep, if you are on a budget and want a nice place to rest and clean up. I would definitely recommend a room with a/c because we say in one without a working a/c and I know it would have been unbearable for us.
- Curby226 (4/5): Avoid unless you want to "rough it" - This place is best for a short stay or if you are short on cash. Otherwise, everything isn't that good. The sheets are all tattered and they give you a towel as a "blanket" to sleep with. The tv in dorm room is broken. Bathrooms are essentially wet rooms, and some of the drains don't work that well. Staff doesn't help out too much if you have problems. The breakfast is a self serve (and self cleaning) feast of toast and corn flakes. The only positive part was the personal lockers which were big in size. Best to avoid this place if possible
- 366sashaz (4/5): Avoid this one - Best to avoid this accommodation. The sheets were all stained and tattered and the rooms were not clean. There are better places in the area for cheaper prices. I would suggest searching out different hostels in the area or even cheap hotels compared to staying here. The service was average
- 784brittanyb (2/5): Disgusting - I normally do not write reviews of accommodations however I had to write one about this dump. The rooms are not clean, the sheets are dirty and the staff are miserable. I stayed one night and checked out the next day, I had to leave. I have stayed in bad places but this one really tops the cake. It is like an extremely grimey dorm. There are much better places to stay in the area for the same price or less.
- briancQ6189CQ (8/5): Clean hostel in central location - We took a double room with Aircon for about 700 baht but much cheaper options available. Could be a little hard to find but everything works as it should in a hostel. Breakfast a bit basic but fine. Room above average for a hostel.
- Alicerw (8/5): Very modern but get an air con room! - We stayed here for 3 days in the shared fan dorm. It was 250 baht each but would advice you to pay the extra 50 baht for an air con room as the temperature is incredible and there are no nettings on the window to keep mosquitoes out.
You do get your own fan at the end of your bed but some work better than others.
The place is the cheapest around and very pleasing to the eye. They have spent a lot to make it attractive. There is an upstairs chill out room with a tv and dvds and a wii downstairs.
You can buy food and drinks for cheap and you get a free breakfast of cereal toast tea coffee and juice
The area isn't too bad either. Would definitely stay here again but aircon room!!
- mizzmojo (6/5): Disappointing - The hostel itself is nice. The staff are very rude when we asked to move from a double to a triple we were moved into a room with an air mattress on the floor as the third bed, crammed into the corner between the dbl and the wall. I went to ask the 'rude' receptionist if it was possible to have a room with a bed and she said 'if you don't like it go somewhere else'.... also we arrived for breakfast at 10.10am it finishes at 10am. And we were told we couldn't eat even though in the tiny kitchen the bread/cereal were still sitting on the counters !!!
