Guest Reviews
- Tracy (10/5): Restful sleep in a delightful English Pub - The room we stayed in was amazing. Every detail had been thoughtfully addressed. The bathrooms were modern, and the furnishings suited the period of the property in the suite. We dined in the restaurant for the evening meal, which was lovely at the end of a long day sightseeing. Nothing
- Guest (10/5): Very pleased stay - Lovely staff great food Disabled room just needed a little bit more thought.
- Davis (10/5): Such a great and friendly place to stay - Location Evening meal very disappointed such a great
- Pauline (9/5): Loved it. Will be back. - Central, comfortable and friendly. There was a slight cleaning issue but we were immediately compensated when we raised it.
- Stephen (7/5): Lovely room but some unexpected issues. - 1. Comfortable room
2. Excellent breakfast
3. Friendly staff.
4. Great mix of 17th and 21st century.
Stayed in Room 10 in the Brown Cow annexe which was large room with big comfortable bed. Also has its own private garden area which was a nice touch ( much more expensive than standard room though). Stayed here few times before and loved the hotel but this time had issues.
1. Couldn’t open room safe, manager indicated it was a problem with all the hotels room safes ( was awaiting override keys).
2. Room lacked a proper wardrobe just an open rack.
3. The day after arrival our room wasn’t cleaned.
Hotel seemed stressed ( was very busy due to nearby Bluebird K7 Festival in Coniston).

- Anthony (10/5): Perfect overnight stay with my brothers which was made very special by the warm welcome. - The people running the Queens Head were fantastic. The food was delicious and breakfast in particular was good value and very good quality. The parking arrangements are what they are. Hawkshead is a challenging place to drive through/park. However, The Queens Head team have this covered and our parking charge for the public car park was met in full. Just be prepared to carry your bags a little further than perhaps you are used to. (Although I am sure the team will help - they were just great.

Excellent location in the centre of Hawkshead - there are good walks from village No car park but the village pay & display is a v short distance away , & we were able drive closer & drop bags off before we parked

- Paige (10/5): Perfect country pub stay - A lovely little pub nestled in the middle of Hawkshead. Perfect rooms, clean and cosy/country feel to all the rooms and the pub itself. Breakfast included was perfect and plenty to choose from the menu.
- Andrew (7/5): Enjoyable and friendly, breakfast is good but the evening meals are sparse, a little salad served with their burger woul - Very warm and inviting Bedroom short on hanger space and no drawers?
A bathroom mirror that lite would be good
- Dave (9/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): Queens Head Hawkshead - Immediately welcomed in and taken to our room. We were able to book a table for dinner which was delicious as was the morning breakfast. Tastefully decorated throughout and clean.

- Jane (10/5): Lovely, comfortable and great value for money. - Lovely staff, very comfortable room with nice decor and cleaned to a high standard. Food was great and location excellent.
- Joanne (7/5): Beautiful room, lacking in customer service - Our bedroom was the one in the photos with the massive windows and great view. It was stunning. The location was great too. When we arrived it wasn’t a great customer experience. We were 15 minutes early and went to see if our room was ready. We were told without any friendliness or check that our room wasn’t ready. The person who greeted us said they hadn’t seen the housekeeper since 10 that morning and she’d got no idea. Then this person proceeded to walk off. Bear in mind we’re stood at the bar. We weren’t even given an opportunity to reply and we weren’t asked if we wanted a drink or to sit down and wait etc. Eventually she did come back and offered us a drink and we waited. When our room was ready we were taken to it and on the way I made conversation that she looked very busy. She replied to say ‘yes everyone else left on Wednesday.’ It sounded like a walk out which made us worry for our stay. Breakfast was good value especially as we’d only paid £110 for our lovely room. The worst bit of the stay was checking out. I’d paid up front by choice via booking.com I told the same woman this and she said I hadn’t paid and I’d just input my card details. I showed her my receipt and my app. She said well they’ve not sent it to me. Obviously that’s not my fault. She didn’t say that’s fine, don’t worry etc I was made to feel like I wasn’t telling the truth. She said did you tell them to send it to us via a virtual card? I said I’ve no idea what that means I’ve just clicked pay now.
- Philippa (9/5): Would definitely stay again - Lovely comfortable and clean great food and service Bedrooms quite noisy could hear conversation in room next door
- Darren (9/5): -
- Paul (10/5): We loved our stay at this cozy and relaxed hotel - a fantastic place. - The hotel is really cozy, clean and relaxing. We loved the bar, the food and the ambience created by the open fire. Nothing, it was great.
- Tracey (1/5): Rubbish - Nothing Everything
- Clare66 (9/5): Lovely stay in a lovely area - The room was fabulous and the staff during check in/out and breakfast were lovely and polite. The room in the building opposite was decorated tastefully and to a high standard. The bed was comfortable and the bedding clean and crisp. The shower was hot and powerful. A member of your kitchen staff was drinking in the bar opposite the pub and slagging off the kitchen/food which put us off eating dinner there on the Saturday night.
- Amy (9/5): Cosy atmosphere and great staff - Very cosy atmosphere, large and spacious rooms which are decorated beautifully, all the amenities you need in the room. Staff were extremely helpful and polite.
Wonderful on offer and a great range of drinks. Room got very hot at night so had to open the window therefore got woken by very noisy birds first thing.
- Karen (8/5): Good pub stay - Food was excellent as were the staff who were very accommodating with a few hiccups we experienced. Very cosy pub with nice decor. Rooms are a little on the small size but this is a very old renovated pub.
- Gavin (8/5): -
- alan (4/5): We wouldn't stay here again and lots of other people saying the same. - Generally Food was ok but very inconsistent. Onion rings first night where fresh ones and very tasty, but 2nd night they brought out frozen ones from a packet. Breakfast was similar first morning 2 bacon 1 tomato, 2nd morning, 1 bacon 2 tomatoes, Staff kept getting orders wrong and tried to charge me for lunch on Saturday when we where walking the hills and did not eat there on Saturday afternoon. Was able to prove with phone that i wasnt there for lunch. The manager looks like she needs some time out as not very polite or helpful.

- Shannon (8/5): Perfect cosy winter stay! - Staff were lovely and welcoming, very quaint and gorgeous country pub, room was decorated very tastefully and cosy and came with a large tv and mini fridge. Bathroom was lovely also and the handwash smelt gorgeous! The only thing I can think of was that the eggs were always a bit overdone at breakfast and never runny as advertised and perhaps the coffee wasn't the nicest as it was a drip type coffee but that is honestly just to be nit-picky. We had a very lovely stay otherwise.

- Joanne (10/5): Staff lovely and stay was lovely for a peacfull break. Lovely little village. Breakfast was lovely. Did have to pay for - Very cosy and clean. Only issue was not shown how to use the coffee machine and wouldn’t work. Decorated lovely, was warm and welcoming.
- Joyce (10/5): Lovely pub in the middle of small village, all staff very welcoming, food was really good. - Lovely old pub
- Isobel (7/5): Charming! - Amazing location, gorgeous village We were in disabled room with no window in bathroom

- Jayne (8/5): -
- Mark (9/5): Top quality Cumbrian character and charm, lovely bedrooms and authentic warm welcome - lovely building and bedrooms. friendly staff and well organised Parking is in the main public car park (5 mins walk) which is fine as we were made aware of this well in advance. If you have a lot of luggage or its hammering with rain then maybe speak to the hotel to see what help or access they can offer?
- Mary (10/5): Excellent, that why we like to return -
- Lauren (10/5): Perfect winter weekend staycation - Everything! This is our second time back and we’re even more impressed than the last time. The rooms are cosy, the breakfast / dinner is delicious and value for money is amazing (i couldn’t stop saying this all weekend) it also helps the village of Hawkshead is super cute and festive at this time of year. My boyfriend proposed to me this weekend, so this b&b has even more meaning now, and the staff made it extra special too. We will definitely be returning, thanks again for a lovely stay! Our only feedback would be the heating controls are locked in the rooms, so when it was too hot in the night we couldn’t turn down the temperature (we usually like it cold) but other than that, no notes!
- Joanne (10/5): Amazing stay for a first time visit, highly recommend - Everything, staff were really friendly and so helpful, warm pub & rooms, great country pub atmosphere which was soo welcoming Nothing
- Abigail (10/5): -
- Emily (8/5): Would stay again and highly recommend, but request a different room - Very clean and spacious room, comfortable bed and plenty of amenities Could hear the noise from the room above, even down to their toilet trips
- karen (10/5): -
- Lorna (8/5): Beautiful place to stay and would definitely book again - In a beautiful location cosy little pub and nice clean comfy hotel rooms Service was a little bit slow for food in the evening but it was rather busy, once the food arrived though it was delicious.
