Jessica (2/5): - Was happy to discover this hotel for location that was walking distance to the hospital and the free parking. The room was decent until I discovered bed bugs on the bed and in the room. Packed up and went to a different hotel. Was able to get a full refund.

John (2/5): - Avoid this place in the winter. The heat is set and can't be changed. The instructions by thermostat say to open the window. Even with window being open and it being 45 degrees out, you will boil in your bed. The bed is loose, worn out and you will leave with back pain. The place is being torn down but avoid, avoid.
Craig (8/5): Great service and location, hotel needs updating - The Iowa House is closing soon and it's obvious that there has been reinvestment into the property in quite some time. Everything about the hotel seems to be outdated and is in need for updating or repair -- which obviously isn't going to happen with the hotel closing. So, with that, the service is excellent and the location is ideal. The $300ish dollars a night seems fair considering market alternatives. Just know that the place is pretty worn down.

Russell K (10/5): - Maps took us to the front entrance which isn’t a big deal but just know it’s the Student Union so there will be college kids there and they will direct you to the hotel check in which is in a different part of the building. We loved our view of the river and the room was nice. Plenty of towels and washcloths. The door gave us some trouble but with a call from the hallway to the front desk he knew what we needed to do to get it open. Don’t expect to much for breakfast but what they have works. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would book again.

Nathaniel (6/5): - I booked here as I stayed here 20 years ago and it was lovely. I haven't stayed here in a long time as I tried newer hotels in Coralville. This weekend, I came back as I wanted to be closer to campus. For starters, all your client facing staff (front desk, maintenance) are Iowa nice and very professional. Your rooms are borderline uninhabitable and are so overpriced for what you get. I had a leaky ceiling in the bathroom, broan stains in the tub, no bottom sheet on the bottom mattress (it was bare) and the carpet/drapes/furniture are all SO SO dated and worn. These rooms are NOT for anyone doing any kind of business as you offer NO kind of desk nook. I had to move the TV to set up my laptop and work. I was SO incredibly disappointed with the forgotten and dilapidated conditions of the guest room and bathroom. Let me be clear--his was NOT a cleanliness issue. This was management not addressing and spending on rooms. Honestly-it was a time warp. I am an alumni from 25 years ago and was excited to return and say "on campus". To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Whomever manages the property needs to do a hard look at what they are trying to accomplish and whom they are trying to serve. Your client facing crew is great-but I will *never* stay here again as it feels you have no plans to do an upgrade.

Rachel (10/5): Good experience! - We had a good experience with IHH! You can definitely tell these are dorms converted, BUT the bed is super comfortable, you can’t hear your neighbors, and the location is great for downtown IC. If I had to choose something to complain about it would be the lack of pool onsite (if you read the fine print you know they give you access to the rec center but the hours are rough) or the strange small bathroom. Worked for our trip and would stay again!

Kristin (10/5): - We have stayed at the Iowa House Hotel several times now. There is no hotel more convenient to visiting the college than this hotel! It is not fancy, the furniture and furnishings could use an update, the bathrooms are tiny, but the beds are very comfortable and the rooms have AC and a TV. They offer a complimentary light breakfast that is sufficient. We will stay here every time we come to visit our daughter, as it is very conveniently located right on campus with the parking garage (free) right there!

The only recommendation I have is ti would be helpful to upgrade the carpets in the hallways. The hotel is old but cost and need some refreshing. But it is properly functional and have all amenities you need.
Celia (8/5): - A low key and comfortable hotel, more (as its name suggests) a guest house than a hotel. It's not as upscale as a chain hotel, but our room overlooked the river, everything was casual and quiet, and the location, on the university campus, was beautiful and very convenient. It'll be my first choice the next time I return to Iowa City.
Kami (6/5): - It’s an old building and needs some upkeep. The carpets and hallways are stained. Drywall is peeling in the room. Bathtub drain wouldn’t drain while showering. It’s convenient if you want to walk to restaurants and bars. The staff I’m assuming is college kids. The girl that checked us in was in a crop top so her stomach was showing and the top was low cut as well. Very revealing. I understand it’s a college town but Im not sure that’s very professional to be dressed like that but, What do I know I’m old haha! Good location but it’s a bit run down

Tracy (6/5): - This is a basic hotel with no frills, but sometimes that is all you need. And since we were only in Iowa City overnight this fit our needs well. It was clean with friendly staff. It’s right on campus and the views of the river were fantastic. My only complaint is that both beds were extremely uncomfortable, which made for a very bad night of sleep and the reason for the overall 3-star rating.

Room was nice but dated. The bathrooms reminded us of dorm bathrooms with how it was decorated and the types of hardware used. The hallways were very dated and a little dingey. Free parking at the ramp is a nice bonus. A fine stay for the price.

DESISLAVA (2/5): - Since the hotel belong to on of the Big 10 schools in the country I assumed the rooms and amenities will be in good condition. Sadly, the room I was in had very old furniture and bathroom looked like it hasn’t been renovated in a very long time. Also, the pool is 3 blocks away in the fitness facility. It was closed when we were there and that was a huge disappointment. Breakfast was also 1 of 5 stars.

Zhanxiang (10/5): It is a must have if you go to university of Iowa - I am going to university of Iowa, so this is the best hotel for me, it is right at the university, share the same building with the memorial Union. This give you privilege to park in the university garage with in out privilege which is great!

William (10/5): - This is the hidden gem of U Iowa…it’s perfectly located for graduation, on campus and walking to eat. Will always stay here when I visit campus. Strongly recommend!!

Tyra (8/5): - Good hotel for price. It almost gave a dorm like feel. We had issues with our card key not working to get back into our room, so we had to get assistance.
Kristin (6/5): - This hotel is very convenient for people traveling to the University of Iowa. They validate your parking, which is nice. The downsides are the mattresses are extremely hard, at least in our room and the breakfast is very minimal.
Flor (6/5): Ok - It is a little run down. There was some odor of humidity in the closet, once opened it traveled to the room. It was ok for the distance to the university.

Michael (10/5): Nice location. - Nice hotel in the IMU. Free pass to the great fitness center, free parking. Very basic - nothing hot - breakfast. I’d stay here again
Verified traveler (10/5): Hotel on Campus! - Very neat hotel to stay for attending athletic events, or visiting students on campus. The hotel appears to be in a student commons or sorts with a spirit store in the basement. We were visiting for the basketball game and it was great being so close to the arena. Free parking in a garage and you can get a complimentary pass to the campus rec center to use pools, work out equipment, and such. The rooms do show a little age, but that did not bother us. Would stay again!
Megan (6/5): Check Pool Dates - Workers were awesome. VERY DISAPPOINTED the pool was closed. Very misleading advertisement for pool and rec center. Breakfast was pretty sad.
Michelle (10/5): Highly recommend this hotel - We loved our stay at the Iowa House and highly recommend it. The staff was friendly, the rooms were very clean, and the beds were comfortable. We plan on staying again when we come to visit our college student.

Vicki (10/5): 10/10 yes - Stayed her to do the campus tour with my son. Literally ON the campus. Super safe, clean, and located in an excellent location. View up the hill is the old capital building, out our window was the river. Made for easy walking to morning check in. Parking directly across the street in covered garage that’s included with stay. Breakfast even had gluten free bread, and that rarely happens at a hotel. Gave my son a feel for campus as we walked 4 miles the night before the tour, just scoping it out. Hotel was very clean. Staff was very helpful with directions and suggestions of must visit places.
