Charles (1/5): I would expect the Booking.com sends me some type of credit since my first night day was horrible staying in a room that - When I checked in, I was expecting to be in their tower that has six floors, but they put me in. They’re very very old building that was called the lodge which was two floors and basically a motel and the inside did not look anything like the photos they put on Booking.com and the second night. I did get moved over to the tower, but they made such a big deal about it, and even then the photos were not the same, and it was still kind of dirty and worn out. When I checked in the first night, they tried to say that Booking.com had the low rate which put me in the lodge, which is totally untrue because my son also booked a room and he was able to go into the tower and it was pretty much the same rate. The difference was I had a king size bed and he had a room with two queen beds, which was supposed to be less than $10 more per night and they were trying to say the tower was $100 more per night very challenging people to work with.

Although we didn't get to see the actual races :-( the casino offered a large selection of slot games and I like that they had tables. Really enjoyed the views of the mountains from our window. Would like to come again when the weather gets warmer and reserve a room by the pool. Really enjoyed the restaurant options. Loved the little gift shop. Price of the room, bar prices, food prices, etc were all of great value The building looks a little aged, but has a quaint feel to it. Our shower faucet had a drip, and the sink faucets were difficult to turn on and off Check out is at 11:00, not noon. Not much else to do in the area

When we arrived our room was not clean and very dirty. Dusty and on the shelf in the bathroom where towels are. Behind them looked like it had not been dusted in a year with plaster and dirt on it.

Low table game minimums, The room was very stuffy and warm, The AC unit would only go down to 67 and would not run BC it was 40 outside. and you can not open the window. I was only able to sleep for a couple hours due to how warm the room was. Also the food was terrible at Big Al's. Miss all day breakfast. Also the Slots seemed to be very tight. Not very many good bonuses. expected from a struggling resort.

Traveler252525 (6/5): A Pleasant Stay BUT Your Employees Need To See a Room! - We read of several negative experiences at this hotel so we decided to see for ourselves. We found it very interesting when we called to make our reservation and had a few questions specifically about the room, that the person taking the reservation answered “I have no idea. I have never been in the rooms and don’t plan on it.” Wow! A bit shocking for someone who is supposed to represent the property! And then when we checked in, the person checking us in said “I’ve never been in any of the rooms and I don’t plan on it.” ATTN: Management: We would recommend you get your people into see rooms!!!!! As for the room, it was very clean and quiet. There was an ongoing fan (we were on the top floor) and it operates non-stop. It was a bit annoying. Not nearly as bad a stay as stated in previous comments. We’ll give it another shot!

Navigate14171259588 (2/5): Just say no - I stayed here back in August to visit. I booked on what I believed was their hotel website thru their page but it wasn't so beware when booking. Upon entry I noticed an old cigarette smell which emulated from the lobby. As I was being escorted room in the lodge it got worse, much worse. Each door was dirtier than the last. My room door looked disgusting. As the gentleman left, I sat my stuff down and looked around. There were bugs on the floor, thick dust on the headboard of the bed. It's actually questionable if the sheets were changed at all. I went and requested a room change which is when I found out I actually booked thru Expedia even though I went to their website. They reluctantly put me in a room in the tower which was cleaner, although the whole building smells like the 80s when mom and dad smoked in the house kinda vibe the room was mostly clean with the exception of food that was under the edge of the bed. At least the sheets looked clean. The best experience about this place was being able to watch the horses run, which I could do without being charged an extra 17.99 per day for the resort fee even though the spa nor gift shop were open the entire time I was there. I'm a Brooke County native, I understand lodging in the area has gotten expensive in Weirton and it's sparse in New Cumberland but y'all have got to step it up and do better when it comes to that tower building "it's a third hand smoke dump" and it's being treated as such which is evident by the room y'all tried to give me. I'll pay the extra money to stay in Weirton next time and come watch the horses practice for free instead of wasting money feeling uncomfortable here. All pictures were from the lodge room except the last that was the food that was left by housekeeping for me to pick up.

They acted like they didn’t want to be bothered. The indoor pool and hot tub was filthy and the toilet ran in our room and leaked onto the bathroom floor.

Tonight I stayed at Mountaineer for $121 (without breakfast) and it was equally acceptable - pretty close to identical rooms/amenities despite the nearly 50% price increase. But when I checked in, I was informed that I owed them an additional $19.07 for a “resort fee”. A what? When asked, the gentleman at the counter explained that Mountaineer is not a hotel but is, instead, a resort. When asked to explain the difference between a hotel and a resort he seemed to indicate that somehow a resort is, indeed, different from a hotel. Somehow. Caveat emptor.

Hardly got any sleep. We will never visit your casino again and I definitely will tell my friends about it. Your check-in person was kind of rude and gave us wrong directions to our room. And as senior citizens, we had a long walk. We never did get to talk to anyone in authority. I think you should do something to make up for us being ripped off.
