- Barrera Luna (7/5): - La ubicación y la atención del personal No tenía wifi ni tv
- Rigoberto (10/5): - Orden, limpieza. Y amabilidad.
- Mario (10/5): -
- Christine (9/5): - The pool wasn't clean, so gross.
- KenyaBR (9/5): -
- Jorge David (8/5): -
- Jezer (10/5): Beautiful view of the street & awesome place to spend the night ! ! - The pool was great & the staff make the place truly wonderful It wasn’t easy finding a place to park but I finally got a spot right in front of the hotel.

- Michael (8/5): - This hotel is a wonderful find! The courtyard is absolutely incredible—it's a beautiful and peaceful space that makes the entire hotel feel so cozy and inviting. The rooms were decent and very comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, which was a huge plus. We were also so impressed with the staff; everyone was exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to be helpful.
Our only minor wish is that the hotel had a more robust bar and restaurant. While the current offerings are fine, a more extensive menu and bar would really complete the experience.
We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this hotel for its charm, friendly staff, and amazing courtyard. We'd definitely return.

- Fernando (8/5): Very good - Nice private rooms
- Marisela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jason (8/5): Very good -
- AMBROSE37 (8/5): Reasonable accommodation in central location - Fine location for public transit en route to Leon bus station.
Interesting colonial style building with a small swimming pool.
Room quiet considering central location.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Delicious breakfast. Reasonable value accommodation
- Keith (7/5): Good -
- Jimmy (2/5): Unfriendly and unsafe!!! - The location is perfect, that’s about it!!!
Customer service is nonexistent. The girl at the front desk when I checked in, seemed bothered by her job and acted like she didn’t want to be there, not a welcoming vibe at all. The worse part was when I came back to the hotel around 10:20pm after been out at dinner with family. The gate was locked and nobody at the front desk, I tried my room keys to no avail, I shouted “hello/hola” and called the front desk from my phone, watched/heard it ring and no one answered or came to the lobby to let me in. After waiting outside about 20mins with no signs of activity in the lobby I decided to climb the gate and that’s how I was able to get inside. There was no alarm, no security, not a single soul at the hotel. I made it to my room thinking how dangerous and unsafe that made me feel, anyone can just come in to the hotel and go up to the rooms with no personnel in sight. I wouldn’t stay here again and don’t recommend it to anybody. At check out there was a guy and a girl with the same lackluster attitude of the check in process. I come to Leon often to visit family and I WILL NEVER AGAIN STAY AT THIS HOTEL.
- Charles (8/5): - Good location close to cental plaza, central market/local buses with lots of dining options within seven blocks. The hotel had air conditioning and hot water in shower. Room was clean but swimming pool was not. Staff was helpful.
- John (8/5): - hotel ok room ok breakfast ok
- Marling (9/5): Superb -
- Dominguez (1/5): Bad - Breakfast and location! Dirty and the man in the front desk is mean. Bad face and never be nice. Change him please.
- Arian (8/5): - No comments
- Lenin (7/5): a very pleasant stay for colonial hotel - Breakfast was really good! shower pressure low.
- Vanessa (3/5): Poor -
- lauralisette (2/5): Avoid avoid avoid - Avoid this hotel especially if arriving later after 8pm. I booked a room through hotels.com /expedia, spoke to the hotel via what’s app the night before and was assured everything would be ok despite arriving a little later. I arrived at the hotel to firstly be told that I don’t have reservation there and then told they given it away earlier in the day. I was then told they have no more rooms as they are sold out. Receptionist seemed to think the whole situation was hilarious! As a solo female traveller I was not happy about the prospect of having to search for a new hotel in the middle of the night .
The fact that I was lied to at first and stranded with out accommodation is appalling!!
- Cox (8/5): Very good -
- Jose (9/5): Superb - Good location lots of things within walking distance. The staff was very helpful, shout out to Sheyling and Eduardo both were very helpful along with the rest of the staff. Eduardo knew some great places to have a great meal. Hotel was nice ,clean and had a nice ambiance. Would definitely stay again. The shower water pressure in my room is my only complaint.
- Priyanka (6/5): It’s a decent stay but don’t expect much from the staff - The property is actually really nice and central to main activities in Leon The staff. 1) I was way over charged and they didn’t honor the booking system price at all - they charge me an exorbitant currency exchange (didn’t even give me a heads up about it) and also refused to accept the cost of the booking 2) The main guy who I’m not sure is the owner or not is a total curmudgeon- so annoying with having always ask for the front door to be opened when you leave and come back 3) They initially didn’t even give me the room I had booked and stuffed me into a smaller room.
- Jenifer (1/5): Bad -
- Jaime (4/5): - I have what I paid
But I think it doesn't need to be a super expensive place to be clean and well maintained
Bathroom 1 star
The 5 stars only is for quite place and walkable to downtown
- Andrey (2/5): Very poor - Location Poor clean, terrible curstomer service
- Salvador (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Yanel (8/5): - The hotel itself is nice. It could use some upgrades. Pool needs cleaning. Staff is lovely and helpful. Breakfast is delicious and free.
- Rosemarie (4/5): - Staying there was a horrible experience. I was very noisy, really dirty bathroom, almost not running water at the sink, only one electrical socket in a room accommodating 3 adults. It’s terrible
- Luis (8/5): Very good -
- Leslie (9/5): Superb - Perfect location next to the french bakery, very central and convenient for walking around town. Spectacular view of the cathedral with amazing sunset. Staff was really sweet and helpful.
- Franciska (6/5): The room floors were not clean. There was dust on the floors and looks like they don’t mop floors. - Location was great. Breakfast was good but not what I expected . Location
- Joel (10/5): - Such a colonial vibe experience staying at this hotel
- David (9/5): The best located accommodation I had on this trip. - Exceptional location for visiting old town in Leon.
- Noe (3/5): Poor - Close proximity to cathedral and Central Park, secured entry. Included breakfast was decent, but they do take there time to serve. Very few power outlets in the room we stayed in (#17) and the power to the 2 we did have was out our last evening (stayed 2 nights) leaving us unable to charge any devices overnight. Gentlemen at the front desk tried to help and understood our frustration, but ultimately shrugged and said things were out of his control. They did not service the room or provide fresh towels, had to go down and ask for them. Generally felt like non of the staff really wanted to be there.
- Navarrete (4/5): I wouldn't go back. - Ubication We found in the barhroom a pack of used condoms, also, women panties were under the bed.
- Cinthya (8/5): Very good -
- OSCAR (2/5): - Was my worst experience in a hotel in Nicaragua I would never recommend a hotel everything about the hotel was terrible. The restroom the wall the room itself the front desk help.
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (5/5): Passable -
- Heddy (4/5): At least my AC worked - Location It's an old hotel and the owners don't do maintain to the rooms.
- Damien (4/5): Location good ... cleanliness ?? - Good location, satisfactory breakfast. Safe hotel. Sheets on bed clean. Rest of room was very dirty. Floor had not been cleaned in a long time. When paying this level of money a certain standard of cleanliness please. Needs a complete refresh.
- Kevin (7/5): Good -
- Derek (9/5): Superb - Noisy street outside but the room was so quiet! Good a/c and wi/fi , bed was comfortable and all the lights and toilet worked The hotel sponsored a shoe sales event in the lobby and courtyard. Noisy and messy.
- Hayden (5/5): Passable -
- Alvarez (9/5): lovely people with a wonderful location - Staff was very kind and helpful Kitchen didn’t include essentials such as pans
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - This hotel was amazing for our stay in León! The employees were so kind and always made sure we had what we needed. They even allowed us to switch rooms our second night due to an AC issue. Los Balcones is located right in the center of León, walking distance from everywhere you need to be. It even has a view of the Cathedral from up top! If you are looking for small, quaint, and beautiful, this is the place for you!
- Anabel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shelly (8/5): Very good - There was a lot of areas outside our room with couches and table to relax. The breakfast was tasty. The floor in our room was very dirty
- Victor (4/5): Disappointing - Nice location close to the city center. The staff was very helpful. Our bed sheets had dirty spots on it and there were a lot of mould in our room. Very disgusting!
- Frane (8/5): Very good -
- Narelle (7/5): Good - Good location. Good size of the rooms, hot shower. Friendly staff. No Wifi connection in my room, they gave me another room when I asked about the Wifi.
Breakfast is not worth it.
- Singleton (3/5): Poor -
- Christopher (4/5): Disappointing -
- Martinez (5/5): Passable -
- Madsen (7/5): Good -
- Maria (8/5): Very good -
- Ramiro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sergio (5/5): Passable -
- Katinka (6/5): - The bedrooms are not like the photos. Old wooden dirty floors, stains on the ceiling, no parking, noisy.
- Valentina (7/5): Good -
- Gustavo (9/5): perfecto - great location there so many attractions walking distance!!
- Ricardo (4/5): Disappointing - cleaning and doesn’t have park lot
- Kimberley (1/5): Bad - nothing I didn’t like the property, it’s old and there’s a lot of noise during the day and part of the night, the staff weren’t nice, and during the day of my stay there wasn’t light and water
- Alaniz (8/5): Very good -
- Mcfall (10/5): Wonderful facilities, good food, kind staff - We loved our stay at Hotel Los Balcones. The staff were kind, attentive, and helpful. The room was clean and everything comfortable. The breakfast options were fantastic and delicious. We will definitely be back!
- José (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - the Staff could not speak English & I didn't speak Spanish
we used our Translator on our Phone ,it went well.
very nice People.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing and could do better - First the good stuff. Staff were friendly and helpful, including when we hit problems. No complaints about them. Bed linen and towels were spotless and well maintained. Also there was clearly some maintenance work going on in the hotel to possibly improve some rooms, so perhaps in the future the following negative aspects will be improved. So the negatives: firstly, it’s not their fault, but the hotel is located at a busy junction in the centre of town. The noise from not only the traffic, but also from the surrounding shops is relentless. It is very sad that a Hotel famous for and named for its balconies, it is too noisy and dirty for you to open the balcony doors and enjoy them. Earplugs are essential. The hotel itself is a great building, but needs considerable maintenance, and the three rooms I visited were only superficially clean. One room had water pouring down the wall from the Aircon, and well established black mould growing underneath. Second room had broken toilet cistern which leaked. Third also had cistern problems. Staff were helpful and moved me each time without fuss. But after one night there I gave up and move to another hotel, although I’d paid in full. Balcones is advertised as a budget no-frills hotel, but for only £10 a night more, I stayed at the high quality El Convento instead. I Wish this hotel well for the future, it needs some investment and love and it could come back to life as the great hotel I remember from a previous visit 10 years ago.
- JGSingers (4/5): In it's prime, it would have been good. It is not in it's prime ! - Like the other guests reviewing Los Balcones... It's dirty, smelly and unclean.
My room smelled of dust and the floor was coated in it. 2 other couples in my group had to move rooms because their toilets were either broken and leaking on the floor or not functioning.
We were a group of 10. They even forgot our booking. Now, I know the trouble, strife issues and sacrifice of the people of Nicaragua at present but it seemed like no one had stayed at this hotel in at least 6 months. Nothing prepared, nothing clean. It's really unfortunate, but it's a fact.
The room itself was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Yeah ok, the room was dusty but ok. The bathroom was tiny and my shower was poor at best. It sprayed horizontally and it's electric. I wasn't touching it with exposed wires. So, I endured.
I had a balcony room, great big old wooden doors, leading to what was once a pretty loud street full of action. That's not the current status here, so it was relatively quiet.
Breakfast, once you actually extracted from the staff wasn't too bad. Both days. Wasn't great. Wasn't horrible. But worthwhile. The breakfast area next to reception and looks like a ghost town, nothing like Trip Advisor pictures... don't be fooled.
Staff were indifferent, strange for a country begging for tourists at this time. And, I speak moderate Spanish. One staff member was friendly and was of great help.
There is a lively bar up the road, Via Via. 100m away. Safe walk and security is reasonable at the Hotel. They speak Spanish but that is our duty as guests to try and learn their language....
Would I stay here again. No. Pity because in it's Prime it would have been amazing. Now, it's a sad shell of yester-year.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location - A nice hotel. Fantastic location, 2 blocks from the cathedral. Small but comfortable room. A/C and fan! Three options for breakfast in the morning. All very filling. Would return.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It was a good location - Hotel was in a good location, staff were friendly and the breakfast was nice. Shower was not that powerful but then that was expected in central America. Room looked different to photos but nice.
