Guest Reviews
- Mike (8/5): -
- Tabitha (9/5): -
- Hoeper (9/5): Great priced, comfortable room. Staff were extremely friendly, courteous and accommodating! - Location was great, with a awesome view of the lake.
- James (10/5): - Good location (easy to find, right off the highway), the coffee at the breakfast was good (priorities... :-), and the owners are welcoming and friendly.
- Clyde (8/5): - yes
- Mary Ellen (4/5): - They said there would be breakfast in the morning, there wasn’t any and the coffee was cold. No internet so no T.v. To watch…
- Fred (8/5): - It was serenity serenityserenity
- Craig (6/5): Good for the price. - Staff was nice & the hotel was good enough. The rooms are a little dated and not the standards of a chain hotel but for the price, I'd stay there again.
- Charlene (10/5): - This is just under new management. The room we stayed in needs new carpet or vinyl at the door entrance. Water pressure was GREAT! Would stay there again.
- Seth (10/5): - New owner has done a nice job with the place
- Larinda (6/5): - The manager was very nice and accommodating. The room was very average. It was exactly what I expected for a Northwoods budget motel. The fixtures are dated, but the beds were comfortable and it served its purpose.
- Jeffrey (2/5): - We were looking forward to the view of the lake and sitting out on the patio. Unfortunately we couldn't do that, patio door was broken, cob webs in the room. Very much unsatisfying. Won't be back.
- Dan (8/5): - It's an older property but my room was clean, didn't smell. The basset hound at the front desk was super sweet.
- Kim (8/5): - We had a nice stay! Best welcome from the owner. Nice bathroom towels!
- lowell (8/5): - close to the lake
- Laurie (8/5): - New owners have just taken over. In the process of updating the rooms. The balcony/patio over looks a very pretty lake. Close to downtown Phillips and the lakefront with bandshell and splash pad. Would stay here again!
- Jerome (10/5): - Great location, needs work but they are getting it done. Great staff!
- Michael (8/5): - I’ve needed to be gotten from office - no easy access ice machine. Place is dated but good. Good pricing
- Leslie (8/5): Timber Inn - It was a clean room, easy to check in, and a good stay. Would stay again.
- David (2/5): - The place is in need of lots of repairs. It was dirty and ruin down. The manager's Rob and Lacy didn't provide any room service for the 8 days we stayed there. We had to empty our own trash, take the dirty towels to office to exchange. Room was never vacuumed and sheets never changed. We had to purchase our own toliet paper and kleenex. We talked to owner Lei on the 4th day about the manager Rob being rude and telling us that the owner told him, to tell us that they didn't provide room service. Rob stated that he was doing us a favor by exchanging dirty towels. The owner Lei assured us that the next days going forward we would have room service. Well, that didn’t happen. No room services the whole 8 days. Don't stay there unless you want to do your own room service and don't care if place in ruin down.
- Joseph (10/5): - We didnt need anything more than a place to sleep. We were in town for an outside party/band . Needed a place to sleep. This was nice and quiet. Never even heard the storm roll in that night.
- Robert (8/5): - My stay was good.
That bed was super comfortable!
The place is exactly what you would e
- Christopher (8/5): - Nice place with a great view!
- Stephen (6/5): - Like any other cheaper hotel but this room had electric floor heating that was not adjustable and stayed on all night. It was very hot when we arrived but were only there to drop off before a wedding. It stayed on all night and we had to run the AC with the patio door open all night to compensate
- Dawn (6/5): The owners are trying - The room was clean. It was quiet. The towels were new and super fluffy. But…
The bed was awful. Hard and broken springs. The hot water in the bathtub wouldn’t turn all the way off and dripped all night.
No breakfast or coffee even though the listing said they were included.
First time I have ever been charged a service fee for using a credit card to pay for a hotel room. I’m not exactly the type that pays cash for a room, know what I mean?
But the owners are a young family and it’s obvious they are trying to turn the hotel around. I hope they are able to. Truly and would recommend using the hotel and supporting them
- Rosemary (6/5): - I visit every summer. It’s ok. Not super clean. Not fancy. But it has a nice view, and it’s convenient. Staff have always been kind to me. I’ll be back.
- Randy (10/5): - Staff was ready for me to check in and very quick.
- JOAN (8/5): - Hotel no longer had continental breakfast or coffee.
- Matthew (8/5): - I needs some updates, but good price and easy access to cool places of the great North of Wisconsin easy trip to the National forests.
- Jeff (10/5): - Good
- Richard (8/5): - It was an average motel, rooms were clean and we would stay here again if in that area.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Dated but okay. Desk clerk rude - This place is dated but okay. The beds are old and some-what comfy. The a/c was nice and stong. The location is with a view of the lake when you can see past the large tree. Glad we got a room on the second floor because I'd hate to be the renters below, having to hear squeaky floors above. Anyways, this was our first and last time here. The older lady who checked us in was not friendly, and coughing the enitre time not bothering to cover her mouth, turn her head away or saying "excuse me." When she told us what room number we were in, she didn't bother telling us which direction to go. We had to fund it ourselves. And as she was checking us in, I assumed I paid already but didn't (I don't hotel much so I'm learning). So when she tells me, "Everyone thinks they already paid ahead online when it only reserves it." Well, if it happened all the time, give people the courtesy of communicating that while in the process of checking people in! She definitely doesn't belong in a customer service environment and a poor first impression for this place.
- Bridget (4/5): - Horrible smell when we walked in the room, lady behind the desk, not the friendliest by any means.
- Chris (4/5): - .
- Gary (4/5): Not great, old and outdated. - Desk clerk was very rude!!!
Rooms were out dated and not clean, cobwebs and dust bunnies everywhere, old beds were very uncomfortable.
- David (8/5): - As expected and paid...
- PABLO (6/5): - bathroom door not close
locks need e updated
- Renee (2/5): - From check in to check out it was horrible. The room was DIRTY! Hair in the sink, tub was filthy and the knobs on the shower were old and squeaky. The beds had hair on them. They were sold out so no room change. We requested a lower room because we had our dog with us and the lady said there were non available. No coffee in the morning and breakfast was a joke. A 2 gallon jug of milk with cereal boxes and some packaged donuts is not breakfast. You also has to forcefully push the door open to get in and the air conditioner went on and off. Would not recommend!!!
- Beverly (6/5): - cleanliness and amenities were poor
- jarosolaw (2/5): - I have to change hotel . No one was at the front desk to meet us . We called office but no one answer . Be aware
- Ann (10/5): - The price was very reasonable and the staff was very friendly.
- Denise M (4/5): - Property is in need of updates. I could look past that if the property was clean, but the tub was dirty, and tge receprion was unfriendlt.
- Denise M (4/5): - In need of new beds, bedding and cleaning.
- Steven (8/5): - Although relatively clean, the paint job was terrible, cobwebs visible, furniture beat up, patio door handle broken. I’d rather pay $110 vs. 86 and make one out of 2 hotels the better one.
- Joseph (10/5): - Good value
- Joshua (10/5): - Great for deer hunting
- Kelly (2/5): - It was dirty.
- Richard (10/5): - Was treated great, had to leave after 2 hours there as something came up, but would go back again.
- Brian (10/5): - It was a nice stay.
- Timothy (10/5): - Nice staff, the price is great.
- Steven (8/5): - They’ve painted and cleaned up since I was there a few years ago.
- Ada (4/5): Very Bad Smell - Traveled 3 1/2 hours for work, didn’t know the area. Picked this hotel because of the advertised Lake View, proximity to work site and offered continental breakfast. Lake was across the street. Traffic was loud. Hard to slide patio doors opened to the " View" with a full used ash tray.
Seemed okay from outside,a little weathered, otherwise seemed fine. Upon entry into room, a Very Bad odor of unclean bodies hit you right in the face. Terrible smell. Bathroom floor was wet, possibly just washed,I hope. There were stains around the bottom of toilet, looked like stains from leaks on the bathroom ceiling. The whole interior of room was old, outdated and smelly. Overstuffed chair in room had debris on it. Blankets were were haphazardly on bed,one side more on floor then not. An extra blanket was requested upon reservation , Not supplied, had to ask and was questioned wether or not if it was requested during reservation. Paper thin walls, ceiling. Guest upstairs sounded like was walking right inside the room.Had to " clean " areas I was using with alcohol wipes and bought a Large can of Lysol to spray Everything.
Greatly disgusted with this " Hotel" and will Never recommend this hotel to anyone or stay there again.
This is an honest & fair review of this hotel, wish I could give a better one. However, the person who checked me in was pleasant enough.
- Ron (8/5): Ok for a sleep - low budget stay
- Duane (8/5): - Friendly Check in, very quiet. Park right in front of the room.
- Michael (6/5): - Microwave was filthy, smoke detector missing, ceiling tiles need to be replaced, shower curtain rod end covers not attached. office reeked of smoke and even one sweet roll i got, the wrapper smelled like stale smoke.
- Susan (8/5): - rooms are fine but need a lot of work with repairs and updates. Love the location and setting.
- Brian (10/5): - Rooms are clean. Motel is close to downtown.
- Timothy (4/5): - Run down, old needs remodeling
- Don (8/5): - We were glad we could get a second night added to our reservation. Easy to change from the road. A large balcony and pleasant view of the lake. Enjoyed both days reading the lake. We had coffee, banana, and juice for breakfast--since we are both gluten free, the pastries were avoided as was the cereal. Will return there on a further trip.
- Robert (10/5): - Room and hotel was clean. Area was quiet. Great sleeping. Staff was efficient and friendly.
- Robert (8/5): - Little outdated but they are working on updating it. Nice and cozy
- Denise (4/5): - It needs to be updated.
- PABLO (6/5): - All above
- Danny (4/5): Bad - Need updates to building hard to open deck door screen fell off track beds are in very poor condition
- PABLO (8/5): - peaceful
- Michael (10/5): - Great deal
- Bradley (4/5): - They could have turned on the air conditioning before we arrived :( I am not exaggerating when I say it was 100 degrees in the room when we arrived at 10 pm. Finally cooled down around 3am maybe. Awful night’s sleep. So inconsiderate
- Lana (8/5): - Just a nice, reasonable place to stay nothing fancy
- cec (8/5): - good location, love the view of the lake.
- Candace (8/5): - A good clean place to stay. Friendly staff.
- Roger (8/5): - needs updating but is clean and comfortable
- Roger J (4/5): - The place is run down. No maid service parking lot was an ice skating rink, no salt or sand. @$91 a night, it's way over-priced
- Donna (8/5): - Clean and friendly with a nice breakfast and good coffee.
Motel needs updating.
- Steven (8/5): - Place needs upgrading. Hopefully new ownership will invest in these needs.
- Stephen (6/5): - Needs updating after that it’s a great location.
- Michael (8/5): - We liked this hotel under new management. They are working on upgrades.
- Clyde (8/5): - Would have liked a handicap room I asked for.
- Tom (10/5): Nice place to stay - The motel was older but the room was clean and the continental breakfast was the same as all other hotels we have stayed at. We liked it so much we stayed a second night
- Brent (4/5): - The first room key did not work. Was given a new room.
- DARRELL (8/5): - Fastest check in ever! Lovely lady checked us in. Property is in the process of being updated. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Definitely will stay again.
- Donald (8/5): - Nicely done older property.
- Thomas (10/5): - New owner are attentive. Easy check in. Clean rooms. Very affordable.
- Kurt (8/5): - Clean, newly painted room. The new owner is very helpful and is working hard on upgrades. Great location.
- Douglas (8/5): - An older hotel but well maintained. Rooms were simple and clean. Lots of hot water on shower. Great value.
- William (6/5): - Nice little town and a reasonable price
- Mary (4/5): - Sliding glass doors open onto an illkept moldy plastic table and chairs on a paint chipped balcony to see a lake- screwed shut so you couldn’t use it. That was my first impression. It was the only window for a dark dank feeling room. The mini fridge breathed loudly all night. The air conditioner fan was too loud to leave on but thankfully worked. Dirty towel was under sink when arrived. Staff- though not real kept to welcome visitors was friendly. That was the upside of the hotel. The hotel needed freshened up badly and was mostly painted over- over bad patch jobs. No decor- only empty nails in walls. Going by the staff we were welcomed enough- the room left more to be desired- made spending more sound like a better deal. But they did have cereal and milk for breakfast- but with the feel of everything else - you tend to wonder how long it might have been there.
- Hildegard (8/5): -
The porch area outside of the room needed cleaning up. Would have been nice to sit there, but it was too dirty.
- Kathleen (6/5): - I had asked for a room with a view of the lake and I got a tiny room in a corner with a window that was broken. It kept flying open. The bedspread and chairs were dirty. The staff was friendly enough but never around when I came in the door for coffee, etc. I had plenty of towels. The steps going to the upper portion were a little broken. The staff came and cleaned out my garbage but I did not want them to do that. There was no sign that I could put on the door to say that I did not need room service.
- Jon (10/5): - This motel is family run and they are excellent providers of service and information as well as a beautiful property for the cost
Jon Denzin
- Brad (10/5): - Worth the price!
- debbie (8/5): - Room was quit nice and loved the view off attached patio. Breakfast wasn’t much and day to day room cleanup could have been better. Not bad though.
- Debra (6/5): - The service and staff were kind and gracious. Had a very nice continental breakfast.
However the bed was rock hard, the accommodations were sufficient. Wouldn't suggest staying here unless you are good sleeping on a firm matress.
- Jason (2/5): - The property was not what was pictured, was there all of 5 min enough to check in and go to my room and see it wasnt what was pictured went back to front desk and asked for my money back they said no that we cant do that, asked if i wanted a different room. I said no and left.
- Theresa (4/5): Not My Favorite - Requested a non-smoking room but the room smelled so badly of smoke. I had to go to the local Pick N Save to purchase lysol spray because I could not handle the smell. I slept in my clothes on top of the blankets. The sheets were dirty (hair & smudges). Rather disappointed.
- Amanda (2/5): -
Absolutely nothing
- Thomas (8/5): - Beds were very comfortable. Room had TWO chairs which we like because we don’t care to watch TV in bed. Refrigerator wobbled so we stabilized it with the drink tray. Electric heat maintained perfect temperature but did a lot of tick tick ticking as it came on each time.
- Alan (4/5): - It’s a dump
- Randy (6/5): - Timber Inn Motel is an aging property that has not been well maintained. It is inexpensive and adequate, but dark and not overly clean. Reservations are handwritten on various pieces of scrap paper, so patience must be exercised at check-in. Stained bedding, a stained chair, and a smashed lampshade were part of our decor, along with one of the most uncomfortable mattresses I have experienced. Would only recommend if nothing else is available.
- Kati (6/5): - The hotel was very outdated. Not very clean and very small.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Loudest place I ever stayed! - Clinking and clanking all night long, one metallic noise after another. Spacious, clean room but OMG I couldn’t sleep!
