- Catherine A (10/5): The Perfect Grand Old Duke - This is my third stay at the wonderful Grand Old Duke - comfort and character plus - I never want to leave. A spotless, well equipped 2 bedroom apartment in the best location in Battery Point. Arrival and departure were seamless with Ted providing detailed instructions and help. I can't wait to return to a very favourite place of mine. nil
- Kirsten (10/5): Exceded expectations! - What was there not to like? Great location, spacious, attention to detail and supper attentive staff- communications prior and then on site.
- Tracy (10/5): Beautiful home - Loved the old beautiful building. So very comfortable. In a fabulous location, easy walk to Salamanca, shops, restaurants & the harbour. Nothing
- Susan (8/5): Perfect location, great cafes nearby, easy walk to Salamanca market - Location, location, location There was a bit of noise from the other apartments, but it was during reasonable hours, so didn’t bother us too much
- Paul (10/5): Location Heritage and comfort 10/10 - Everything was Fantastic
10/10
- Johanna (10/5): Great place to stay in Hobart. - Great location near to lots of eateries. Lovely comfortable lodging for two. Nothing.
- John (7/5): Convenient accommodation in historic part of Hobart -
- White (9/5): - Lovely location. Stunning furnishings. Thanks
- Ian (9/5): A great place in a great location - Beautiful apartment in a lovely part of Hobart - with cafes and restaurants nearby and just a short walk to the harbour
- Doreen (8/5): A very comfortable stay in a quaint accommodation in a perfect location. Go for it. - It is a sweet place to stay, clean, comfortable, cozy and in a great location. We were in the Wellington rooms downstairs. Ted, the manager met us early so we could leave our luggage there, which was great. Bed was very comfortable and the shower pressure was good too. The couch is very uncomfortable, but we didn't use it much. There is a little bit of noise between apartments, but we were lucky the people in them were careful about that, as were we. Parts of it really are wonderful, and overall it's just fine, but there is a little bit of upgrading that could be done to make this an even better accommodation, such as the vanity in the bathroom, the kitchen.

- George (10/5): Beautifully apointed apartment in historic building in a stunning location - Location was excellent. The space was authentic, comfortable and atmospheric.
There are a number of excellent eating places and coffee shops nearby and a short walk to Salamanca place.
The apartment was spacious and really well furnished with period furniture. Not much on-site parking but as we didn't have a car it wasn't a problem
- Wayne (8/5): Ok - Location I did ask for 4 beds
Only 3 bed were made
But all sorted in the end
- Wheeler (10/5): - Brilliant location with delicious restaurants and coffee spots walking distance away.
- Bryden (8/5): - Location and beautiful period furniture Beds were uncomfortable

- Kate (8/5): Beautiful Battery Point Stay - Gorgeous apartment, excellent amenities, comfy beds, and incredible location. Such a lovely and short walk down to Salamanca and not much further into the CBD, but if you really have no energy, there are also plenty of excellent cages and restaurants within a 200m radius. It's also on the double decker tour bus route, which is great fun, and Arthur Circus is right at your doorstep to enjoy the beautiful old cottages and gardens. Be sure to take your camera whenever you head out as there's always something picturesque nearby! It's an old building so if you stay downstairs while other people are staying upstairs, you can hear everything. Worth it for the location and atmosphere, though!
- John (9/5): A great place to experience the Battery Point heritage vibe. - Fantastic heritage building, amazing location. We were able to store our bags for a few hours after checkout. Mattress a bit saggy.
- Alison (9/5): Battery Point is always a good place to stay - Terrific location and a lovely property. At street level and a little road and pedestrian noise
- sheena (10/5): -
- Peter (8/5): - Parking is a bit limited, especially at peak times.
- Peter (10/5): - Comfy beds and a good location Parking is quite limited
- Mark (9/5): -
- Angela (8/5): Close to amenities. - Great location
- Matt Dilnot (8/5): Great location, nostalgic but needs some minor updates. - Location is awesome and the price is great, relative to the great location. It is nice to stay in a heritage building for the experience. The electrical light switches in two rooms are not good and probably unsafe. Light bulbs were mostly gone in the lounge room. Shower head needs replacing with something higher and more sturdy. Bed is quite small and creaky. Mattress is not great. Also the Google Mesh Wifi point was flashing blue during our stay which means it is ready to be setup but not working. The Wifi therefore comes from another room in the building and thus not as strong as it should be.
- Sema (9/5): -
- Garry (9/5): - Lovely old building to stay in.
- Jo (7/5): Wonderful base to launch off into Hobart from! - Excellent location and good value for money. Beds were not the most comfortable and some warmer bedding would be nice so the heater wouldn’t be needed.
- Lyndon (10/5): - this is one of the best apartments i have stayed in. fabulous location, excelllent fur ishing that remineded us of a mayfair apartment. high ceilings and antique furniture. stunning.
- Luke (7/5): Good communication, excellent location. Clean and comfortable - Location and olde worlde charm Nothing - it was really nice
- Jane (10/5): Such a beautiful, old quaint place. They have really thought about all the little things! - Location was great - central and close to Salamanca Markets. Lots of nice little restaurants and cafes close by. Pretty much walking distance (a bit extra to walk into town but that was fine!) Nothing, we have everything we needed and wanted for the duration of the stay
- Carolyn (4/5): -
- Carolyn (4/5): Apartment with Weird layout - Clean The floor plan is weird with one room not having access to the front door except via the bathroom and then the other bedroom.
- Samantha (10/5): The Grand Old Duke was lovely and the hosts very accommodating. Would definitely recommend this accommodation. - Beautifully historic property. Location very close to everything!
- Amanda (10/5): - Beautiful cosy apartment with everything we needed for a week in Hobart. The decor was lovely, beds so comfortable and very quiet. Easy walk into town. Within a few minutes walk restaurants, cafes, bakery.
- Jane (10/5): - Fantastic place to stay. Warm, clean and very comfortable. We loved the historic furnishings and the easy walk to the main part of Hobart. Battery Point is a gorgeous suburb with excellent restaurants and cafes. We managed to park our large Ford Explorer in the carpark. The host was responsive and very easy to communicate with. Highly recommend.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Comfy bed, great location. - Well appointed kitchen. Good sized rooms. Comfortable bed with plenty of bedding for a cold night. Close proximity of good eateries. Despite being on a corner it was remarkably quiet at night so our sleep was not interrupted. Convenient location as it is a 7 minute walk down the hill to Salamanca Place. A luggage rack for both guests would have been appreciated in the bedroom. The sofa in the sitting room was saggy and uncomfortable.
- Abdelrahman (10/5): - Very comfy and old fancy apartment we enjoyed everything and the location is perfect!
- Pam (9/5): Superb -
- Phillip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerrell (8/5): Great location and clean comfortable place - All of it and the exceptional service of the host including with communication. Great comfortable beds.
- Christie (8/5): Lovely character accommodation in beautiful Battery Point near great cafes. Beds could be comfier. - Lovely character room with separate bedroom and bed. Good mini kitchen in second room with sink, microwave, toaster, kettle. Manager was lovely to deal with. The second room was a bit dusty in places and looked like it had been serviced a while before our arrival. Heater in second room was slow to heat room. Beds were too hard for me but some would like.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Trevor (8/5): Love Hobart and Battery Hill. Host was responsive to our queries. - Location was great. Port on arrival. Comfy furnishings heating Street parking is actually 2 hrs so need to keep moving car. Couldn’t find the kitchenette so suggest an info sheet to direct you to the wardrobe.
Shower is over the bath and felt unsafe. Need mat or wooden bath mat and a grab rail. Advertising should say shower over bath. Had I known I would not have booked.
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- Janes (10/5): Exceptional -
- Geoff (10/5): Exceptional - .Everything .
- Joanne (10/5): Best location, easy check in and helpful owner. Very comfortable stay. - Everything. It was a perfect stay! There was nothing I didn’t like.
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Allan (7/5): Good -
- Elvis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rosanne (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Zeynep (9/5): Charming place at an excellent location - Location, location, location! Very nice hosts (very responsive to messages and result oriented), very nice views from the windows, has that rustic charm, excellent laundry facilities with the option of dryer as well as a drying rack in the small backyard, lovely backyard with a table and chairs surrounded by lovely flowers, very big kitchen with a large dining table in the living room, nice set up with the TV and couches as well. There's a bonus bathroom downstairs. The stairs became our downfall at this place. When you have to go up and down a few times a day you feel like not doing it again. Also there were a few bugs around, we don't mind bugs and it is expected from an old (also charming) house surrounded by lovely trees but I thought it's worth mentioning for people with kids.
- Justine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wendy (10/5): Loved my stay at this awesome spacious apartment. Thank you. - This Heritage listed property was central & walking distance to Salamanca Markets & the waterfront. Immaculately clean large apartment with clawfoot bath & separate shower. Bonus courtyard. Comfy huge 4 poster. Lovely extra touches of condiments milk & port. Huge bakery Cafe round the corner plus Indian Italian Japanese coffee shops. Kitchen cupboards a bit high to access for me only 5'3. Maybe a 2 step ladder? I got up on a chair to reach crockery glasses.
- Jacqui (8/5): Very good - Area
Room Hearing loud people upstairs
- Christine Jean (10/5): - Fantastic place , beautiful old decor, very clean and comfortable, stairs a bit hard if you have problems with knees , but overall would love to come back thank you 😊👍
- Jacqueline (9/5): Perfect Location in Battery Point. - Excellent location. Peaceful. Cosy bedrooms.
- Dawn (8/5): - Such a beautiful historic old building set in an amazing part of Hobart - Battery Point. Styles in heritage style fitting for the era of the property. Would definitely stay here again
- Tuipiri (9/5): Superb -
- Trishna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Francis (10/5): Exceptional - Great suburb I was expecting a second bathroom.
- Howard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Allison (9/5): Will definitely return - Brilliant location and lovely atmosphere in the upstairs apartment. Very comfortable. Worried the squeaky floorboards would annoy the people staying downstairs, so we crept around haha
- Hugh (9/5): Superb -
- Deborah (10/5): - Beautiful heritage listed property. Very clean and quiet. Very close to transport and excellent restaurants . Would not hesitate to stay again.
- Alan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Eda (10/5): Wonderful - Gorgeous old building with everything you’ll need in a great location.
- Fairleigh (8/5): Very good -
- Louise (9/5): Would definitely stay here again - Loved the old world charm and location was great, within metres of great cafes and restaurants- we didn’t need the car at all! Also great value for money. Only one car space for the whole property so can get abit tricky competing with other guests to park. Limited unrestricted parking in the area.
- Lisa (10/5): Fantastic historical lodgings - Beautiful decor and building. We felt like we’d stepped back in time when staying in the Cambridge Apartment. We loved the location and the care the owners have taken to look after this historical building from the 1850s. Funny buzzing sound from some of the PowerPoints. All seemed fine. Also some random tapping in the night (perhaps a friendly ghost?!)
- Andy (10/5): Exceptional - The ambience and the location were perfect. So much better than staying in a modern hotel. The complimentary port was a nice touch too
- Andrew (8/5): We enjoyed stating at the property and would do so again. - The location is excellent, and the decor is rich and interesting. The back yard area is also lovely, with trees, blossoms and a nice table to sit with coffee etc. The layout of the apartment is very strange. Having the bathroom/toilet in the middle between the two bedrooms means that a person would need to pass through it every time you want to enter or exit the small bedroom. Note that the food preparation area is also in the small bedroom. I would say that for parties needing more than one bedroom you would need to be on very familiar terms. We are a straightforward couple, and it was fine for us.
- Jane (8/5): Very good -
- Caroline (10/5): Perfect - Lovely decor - perfect location - had everything we needed.
- Kate (10/5): A magical place to stay! - Beautifully furnished, wonderful history and exceptional location Nothing!
- Eleanor (7/5): Good - The curtains, Electric blanket, nice old four poster bed The " kitchenette" was in a wardrobe in a bedroom.. No staff at all . Towels not changed once from Monday to Friday.
- Bott (8/5): Historic stay in amazing location - Great location (an easy walk from anywhere in central Hobart) in an historic, yet interesting part of Hobart. It's old...my daughter and I loved staying in a place this old. Loved the microwave oven hidden in an old cabinet, the four-poster bed, etc
- Johnston (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (6/5): Good location but not much else. - Great location. Being an old building it was very noisy. We could hear every step made by the people upstairs.
Heating was poor, except in the bathroom.
No parking, had to move the car to an all day spot not near the accomodation
Laundry was outside and you had to navigate a gate and a very hard lock to get there. The dryer took 3 hours to dry the clothes.
The tv was small.
Room was ok but rugs need a good clean.
- Wendy (10/5): Didn’t want to leave , it was just wonderful - What a great surprise we had as we climbed the stairs to our apartment, it was just absolutely beautiful . Large kitchen and a beautiful lounge/dining room . Bedrooms were just lush and the beds were comfy. Apartment was in a great location and was only a minute or two walk away from the essential coffee hit.So close to Arthur’s circle and a short walk to Salamanca Place . Can’t wait to return .
- Jackie (8/5): Very good -
- Adele (9/5): Great time away with my son - It’s amazingly restored and so beautifully decorated Nothing
- Imelda (8/5): Fabulous location, love that it is a national trust building in great condition. Comfy bed, room nice and warm. - Location location location. Very clean and comfortable , warm. Entry into second bedroom via bathroom (did know this when booked) but was more inconvenient than thought it would be. No air freshener in bathroom/exhaust fan didn’t work.
- Amanda (10/5): Historical and locational PERFECTION! - Ah gee, trying to narrow down the vastness of things I liked about staying here feels hard. I'll try though: the atmosphere of Battery Point, the super comfy bed, the gigantic claw foot bath tub, a super quick walk into the city, the best restaurants in Hobart a few metres away yet somehow it felt like a peaceful suburban area. The Wellington apartment was perfection in its historical set up. I could still feel the floors bouncing from when it was a pub. The decor of antiques was incredible. A laundry room out the back. Watching the olympics in a warm cozy room with a fluffy blanket, a cup of coffee from the provided coffee pod and a croissant from the bakery up the street. I stayed here to be part of the Beakers St Science Festival and often walked home late at night alone and still felt safe! I have such fond fond memories I will take with me in my heart from the Grand Old Duke. Hmm..I wished the fireplace was working, but I understand why it's not.
- Maddi (9/5): Great location and lovely hosts - Loved how easy it was to self check in. The location was great. There was a great amount of light in the place.
The host was super quick to respond and super helpful when we left some belongings behind. The shower was pretty small but the water pressure was great.
- Brigitta (10/5): Loved it... Very cosy. I'd stay there again. - I locked myself out and the owner was extremely helpful, friendly and caring about making sure that I got access again quickly. The place has so much character. Cosy, with comfortable beds and the perfect amount of heating. 😁
- R (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rowe (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): Beautiful area, everything walking distance, great restaurants couple of doors down - excellent location, very friendly and helpful owner who was always contactable and even had a parking spot for us when we decided to hire a car at the last minute, plenty of hot water and space, historic, close to everything, nice outlook.
