• Jesse (6/5): - The pool was great and the room was big, with a peaceful environment. The water pressure in the shower was bad. The food was quite mid as well. The staff specifically told us we could check out late after our safari and gave the impression it was all very relaxed (indeed, only half the rooms were being used). But then at 1pm they complained that we hadn't left the room yet, so we promptly packed our things. Once we had left the room they didn't even clean it for the next 2 hours so it felt needless.

• Roisin (10/5): - Outstanding stay. Honestly such an amazing experience staying in our own chalet overlooking the rice fields was one of the highlights of our whole time in Sri Lanka. We were also pleasantly surprised at the high quality and standard of the meals we ate while there. The rice and curry was the best we had eaten so far that trip. 10/10, the staff were all amazing.

It caused a lot of trouble, as we have been using only credit cards for stay and were not carrying enough cash on us.
• Oliver (8/5): Nature feel, some minor changes would make this hotel extremely enjoyable. - Lovely pool and great setting. The room was spacious and comfy and we really enjoyed the animal themed rooms. The staff were very helpful, arranged our Yala safari and taxi. If we did this again, we’d likely book the safari through another provider. This was due to the age of the jeep and the tour guide didn’t speak any English, therefore we didn’t learn anything about the animals, despite it being advertised. Bear in mind you are in the wild and therefore ants etc will likely be in your room. Note: payments for everything is in cash, we weren’t warned of this until check in. We didn’t eat in the restaurant so we cannot comment on the food however it was more expensive than any of the local restaurants.

• Lestus (3/5): Only accepts cash payments- not mentioned in booking. I like nature but the bugs were too much. - Staff were friendly and hospitable. Although the staff were very friendly, this stay was the worst of our trip:( We had a centipede, spiders, a frog, beetles, and a gecko in our room. We like nature but this was a bit too much. We had some kind of animal living in the roof that was up late running and scratching. The outdoor eating area looks cozy- but we couldn’t enjoy our food as flies and ants would swarm us as soon as we sat. The food was very underwhelming.. tasted like they bought msg and decided to put it in everything.. odd extremely salty flavour similar to ramen packet seasoning lol. At the end of this not so great experience, we were told we had to pay entirely in cash. This was not mentioned anywhere in our booking. Had to take a tuk tuk into town and pull out a very large amount of cash-as two young females this made us nervous. I’ve never left a review before as I’m usually easy going, but the all cash payment was the cherry on top of a bad experience.

• Michel (7/5): Mooie accommodatie maar mindere service - Fijn zwembad en ruime keuze in ontbijt iedere ochtend. Mooi design van de huisjes. Yala safari raden we af om via het hotel te boeken. We voelden ons niet veilig in de jeep. Slecht uitgerust, geen gordels, geen demping, gebroken glas in de cabine en onverantwoord rijgedrag. De dag erna hebben we een safari met een ander bedrijf geboekt voor Yala en dit was een wereld van verschil en dezelfde prijs. Uiteindelijk zijn we hiervoor wel $10 gecompenseerd door Gaga bees nadat we onze ervaring gedeeld hadden Personeel kwam op ons niet betrokken over in vergelijking met alle andere accommodaties waar we zijn geweest. (30 dagen in Sri Lanka) Ongeveer 4-5 huisjes bij Gaga bees waren bezet in de tijd dat we er waren, maar het leek qua inzet alsof we de enige waren. Verder zijn we een keer buiten gesloten rond 19u s avonds. We kwamen terug van een vroeg diner en toen deed niemand de poort open. Na toeteren, schreeuwen en de overburen telefonisch laten bellen hielp allemaal niet. Uiteindelijk is onze 3 jarige zoon in het donker na 15 minuten onder het prikkeldraad door gekropen om de staff te waarschuwen. Misschien is het een idee om een bel bij de poort op te hangen. Om dit in de toekomst te voorkomen. Airco werkt matig.

The onsite massage facility was also really good. Maybe even the best massage I’ve had in Sri Lanka so far. Honestly loved this stay so much! • luna (9/5): - Very good place to stay for a safari. The room is comfortable, the little terrace at the back overlooking the rice field is fantastic. Great swimming pool area. Very quiet location. The staff is so helpful. Good food with big portions. They arrange the safari with breakfast and lunch for us. An unfussy, unpretentious place, don't expect luxury, but it's clean with a lovely nature feel, including a charming semi-outdoor shower.

• Sharon C (10/5): Lovely Rustic hotel in Yala - We had such a unique and peaceful stay at Gaga Bees in Yala. The rustic charm of the chalet made it feel so cosy and authentic, and the views over the paddy fields were absolutely beautiful. It truly felt like being at one with nature — waking up to those views and the surrounding sounds was so calming. The whole experience was relaxing, simple, and exactly what we needed to switch off and unwind.

La piscina viene muy bien para relajarse al final del día y disfrutar del ambiente en medio de la naturaleza. La comida no estuvo tan buena ni variada por el precio que tiene, a nuestro gusto, por lo que la segunda noche optamos por cenar fuera.

• Miriam (10/5): Charming place - Gaga Bees was our home for a few days, and I loved it from the very beginning! I was truly impressed by the care they take to keep everything tidy and clean, in full respect of the surrounding nature. I was also really struck by the many responsible choices they make, such as asking guests to pre-order meals to avoid food waste. We had both breakfast and dinner there, and everything was delicious! A charming place, with a clean room and genuinely helpful and friendly staff.

Even came with us to an ATM because we couldn't pay by card (even if it's written on their booking that they accept all cards) But it's not the fault of the staff, rather their manager. Pretty overpriced for what you get. They also have food there but very expensive. If you want to do a Safari in Yala then it's a 45min drive until the entrance (!) of the national park. Also nothing around the hotel, no possibilities to eat or shop. Some animals in the room and also no possibility to pay with card (I can ride a bus in Sri Lanka and pay the 50 rupee ticket with card so wtf?)

The man running the place was so lovely though and we felt awful having to leave suddenly! Geckos in the room and no hand soap. • Devonne (10/5): Great stay! - We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and a big shout-out to Garith—he was truly amazing and made our experience even more special. The Sri Lankan curry (2500 rupees) was, without a doubt, the best curry I’ve had in Sri Lanka so far—absolutely delicious and full of flavour. Breakfast was also fantastic. We chose the granola fruit bowl, and the granola was honestly the best I’ve ever had—more like a flapjack, which made it even better! Paired with fresh fruit juice and coffee, it was the perfect start to the day. I had read in a previous review that they didn’t serve beer, but that’s no longer the case—they do now, which was great news! There’s nothing better than a cold Lion beer in the sun (1200 rupees for a can). They can arrange tuk tuks to the town close by, but we did for a few hours but wish we just stayed at the hotel as it’s a beautiful place to relax, it’s so peaceful, you have seating area in the front and back of your hut with gorgeous views of the rice field. We had the leopard room which was perfect for us, close near the pool and great views. There’s loads of wildlife around, including monitor lizards, frogs, birds, frogs, turtle, chipmunks and more. As an animal lover, I absolutely loved this. I was a bit worried after reading reviews about bugs, but this was actually the first place where I didn’t get bitten at all! There were no bugs in the room—just one tiny lizard, which was no issue at all. The room itself was very comfortable, with a nice cold fridge and excellent air conditioning—definitely needed, as Yala felt much hotter than anywhere else we visited. The bathroom is designed to feel more “with nature,” which is a lovely touch given the remote setting. The shower was warm and worked well. One thing to note is that it’s cash only, so make sure you bring enough with you. Cash only so you have to make sure you have enough cash on you for the stay & safari & food. The taxi transfer was not air-coned so it was a very hot and long 3 hour journey.

Ma il rumore assordante delle rane nello stagno impedisce al cliente di poter dormire serenamente. La struttura però è davvero carina. Le stanze sono belle e confortevoli, il personale è molto disponibile e parlano bene l’inglese. Rumore assordante delle rane nella fase notturna della giornata, un po fastidioso.

I loved the pool and the gardens which were immaculately looked after. The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend others to stay. It was a 30-40min drive from block 5+6. We had thought it was closer when booking.

The dinner we ate here was freshly prepared and cooked, it was authentic and tasty and one of the best meals we’ve had in Sri Lanka. The staff are super friendly. We stayed only 1 night for a safari and it felt like a luxury safari hotel. The room was so comfortable with everything you need, aircon and shower worked really well. We loved everything!

• chloe (10/5): Exactly what we needed! - A beautiful setting with friendly staff. The hotel is super peaceful, surrounded by greenery and wildlife. Our Cabin was very comfortable, the pool was lovely and warm and the food was delicious (we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here). We stayed for one night to go on Safari in Yala national park & this hotel was perfect for that, they arranged our safari and were very accommodating when i needed to change the date last minute. • Jeroen (8/5): Perfect getaway for safari’s jn combination of chilling at the pool. - Flexible host. We asked to have an extra night to have a pool day and a safari the day after and (depending on availability) it wasn’t a problem. Safari was expensive but well arranged. Food was also more on the expensive side for Sri Lanka but pretty good. If you’re here for a safari it’s great. Otherwise a bit far from anything else.

• David (10/5): Unser Highlight war auf jeden Fall die Safari die wir über Gaga Bees gebucht haben, wir konnten sogar einen Leopard sehe - Ein sehr tolles Erlebnis bei Gaga Bees Yala. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und die Anlage ist sehr liebevoll gestaltet und gepflegt. Alle Mitarbeiter und besonders Gamith waren super freundlich hilfsbereit und zuvorkommen. Die Preise sind teurer als üblich, aber das Essen war ausgezeichnet und eine große Portion. Man ist in der Natur und sieht viele Tiere außerhalb. Am besten vorher schon Snacks und Wasser im Supermarkt kaufen, weil man dann doch ein wenig außerhalb in der Natur ist.
• Claudius (8/5): Sehr schöne, ruhige Anlage mit tollem Pool. - Sehr schöne Anlage, nette Hütten, sehr ruhig und privat. Toller Pool. Der vom Hotel organisierte Fahrer für die Safari war super. Recht abgelegen, ca. 45min Fahrt zum Eingang des Parks. Essen war nicht so toll und relativ teuer.

• Lauren (10/5): For a perfect stay in Yala, stay at Gaga Bees! - The property is as pictured. Beautiful and serene location, lovely rooms and great staff who are very accommodating. I wish I stayed an extra few nights!
• Jennifer (10/5): A small haven in nature. - A beautiful location overlooking the rice paddy fields. It’s slightly off the main strip which is perfect for a good feel for the nature in the area. The swimming pool was perfect for after a morning safari. We did two safaris through the hotel. Don’t book with anyone else, their guides are very experience and have great knowledge of the animals and birds. We also just had a day relaxing by the pool and reading our books. A great place to chill. Nothing

• Luca (8/5): Very nice stay with real safari vibes and amazing staff. - It is a very cozy hotel with very nice staff. The only improvement I could think of is a wider assortment of food.
