- Kristie (8/5): - The staff is excellent they kept the property very clean. They are very accommodating. There's a lovely garden setting complete with a cat a parrot and a goldfish pond. Out of their control. the water is brown. It leaves you and your clothes unclean. Construction next door starts at 7:00 a.m. 7 days.

- Miki_Bee (8/5): Nice Hotel, Good Location - Stayed two nights in this hotel located just two blocks from the lake shore. The room was a little dark but comfortable. I was able to use a small kitchen to cook. There is also free tea and coffee pretty much throughout the day. A bilingual parrot is a nice attraction and is a totally free bird. They can organize transportation to Antigua or Guatemala City. All in all good value for your dollar/quetzal.

- rachelwV877XT (2/5): Awful - What a total disgrace of a hotel. We checked in and very quickly realised they hadn’t changed the bedding. There was a man’s beard hair and head hair all over the pillows. When we flagged it they did change the bedding and the lady apologised and said ‘it was my friend’. Totally disgusting, thought they could get away with it . avoid at all costs
- Julian (8/5): - Very nice location just seemed a little outdated. It was very hot in the room, but we understood due to the season. Maybe extra fans in the room would’ve helped.
- onamemmet (10/5): Perfect location; perfect price. - In a town with many fine, affordable hotels, this remains my favourite. I showed up unexpected this time, without reservation. Marie, the wonderful host, said "Room with private bathroom?" I said "sure". $40; two nights, in a clean, cozy, safe and relaxing little spot. What more could you ask for? If you're looking for glamour or big, elegant courtyards or verandas, those hotels are around, for six or seven times the price, but if small, clean, welcoming, and modest is all you need, this is the place for you. Literally two blocks from tje main market, including the fabulous Mercado Artisan, where you'll find EVERY beautiful Guatemalan handcraft available, and maybe five short blocks to the central square. Lord willing, I will be back soon, and Hospedaje El Viajero will be where I stay!
- sheilaele (10/5): Great Last-Minute Stay at Hospedaje El Viajero - We stayed at Hospedaje El Viajero because it was getting late on my way up the lake. They were willing to accommodate me very last minute, and the room was perfect. It had a good size, not very big, but great for just me and my partner. The bathroom was clean and small but adequate. They provided free drinking water, and our room had a patio with tables and chairs, offering a nice view of another restaurant and music. It's a budget hotel, so don't expect anything fancy, but it was a great price with great staff and a great location. It was a really nice and cozy stay.

- TheBluntWytch (10/5): Hidden Budget Gem - This is a little gem of a place off Calle Santander. The rooms are simple and comfortable., the bathrooms have hot showers and toilet seats! ( If you've traveled throughout Guatemala, YOU KNOW -lol). There's free coffee, tea, and water, a mini fridge for all to use and it's in a great location. The little garden area is nice and staff super friendly. The parrot loves to greet everyone ... and gallo wakes you early (lol). The walls are thin and one night the room next door was pretty obnoxious and up LATE, but overall a great stay at a great price. It's super convenient to everything.

- 942edf (10/5): The Staff was Like a Family - One of us stayed for nearly a month. Together for 12 days. The two girls who worked there were awesome and work very hard every day. The location was excellent and the surroundings were good. Capricho the parrot is really a gift and a happy little guy. If you visit, be sure and take the time to talk to him. Our only recommendation is that someone should be more strict about enforcing quiet time. I am sure we will stay again if we are in the area.

Tienen agua y café gratis todo el día. Lo mejor del hotel es su ubicación, tuve acceso al centro de Panajachel pude realizar mis actividades muy comidamente.

The main intersection of the road plays loud music, but you are at the opposite end so it is quiet except for a rooster that continuously crows all through the night...bring ear plugs! :D This place was safe and great value.

- marekjarosz (10/5): Nice place - We stayed in El Viajero for three nights. Clean, convenient location and friendly people. Talking parrot might be a little bit annoying but you get used to it. You will get all necessary information about things to do around the lake and further trips.

- A6562JCthomasv (10/5): Comfortable - The Hospedaje El Viajero is located on the main street of Panajachel, but it's back away from the street so there isn't much noise (except for the roosters who live next door). The place is spotless, the people are friendly and helpful, very comfortable. You should know, however, that it's pretty basic -- hot water in the shower from 6 - 9 AM and PM, for example. We would love to stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I had reserved a third floor room with private rooftop terrace but when we checked in at 2pm we were told that the only room available was on the main floor right next to the office, kitchen and washing machine. We were not given a discount . The beds were comfortable but it was noisy with people talking by the office very early in the morning and some kind of pump going on and off constantly. The small courtyard was pretty and it was set far enough back from the main street that we didn't heard the Saturday night party crowd.
- 941matte (10/5): Unexpectedly nice - Unexpectedly nice digs. Clean, unlimited hot water, good mattress, and nice people. Goodlocation on the main drag, but situated far back from the street. Secure, coffee, inclusive, but unobtrusive atmosphere. All of this for a really low price.
- ryantravelsandeats (8/5): Great location without the noise - When we first arrived at Hospidaje el Viajero, we were a little put off by the talking parrot in the courtyard that would NOT shut up. We could hear it in our room, squawking constantly as we unloaded our gear and settled in. Luckily, it calmed down for the rest of our two-and-a-half days there and was not a problem. The rooms aren't much, but they had a fan and a comfortable bed. The hotel itself is right off the main street and only a few meters from the lake, but set back enough from the street that we never had to deal with any noise from it. There is free coffee and drinking water most of the day. As far as a place to store our stuff and sleep, you couldn't ask for much more for the price.

- waverider681 (8/5): Heaps of hot water (at certain hours) - Hospedaje el Viajaero is only a short walk from the shores of Lake Atitlan - a perfect location to wake up early and stroll to the lake to watch the sun rise over the lake and volcano. The beds were comfy; the rooms were super clean, and the hot water was an amazing asset (be sure to take note of the hours it is on offer as they turn it off at night). Book the room at the top for a nice little balcony area to sit on and watch for shooting stars in the evening.

Cool showers available during the day which was no issue for us. Nice firm beds. TV with lots of English channels, well equipped little kitchen. Free drinking water and coffee. Great location, quiet enough as set just back from the main street. Lots of potted plants and a nice rooftop area. Definitely recommend staying here.
- anncelia (8/5): Good location, comfortable beds. - I was at this hotel twice on my trip. The top level rooms are bigger and have a nicer outside sitting area than the bottom. The top have double bed and a single bed and the bottom level room I was in had one double bed...room a little small. Shower hot, beds comfortable, free water and coffee, and can use the kitchen. Very clean hotel and efficient staff that speak English. You are in the centre of town...away from the street enough to be away from street noise.
- Grigette (8/5): Poor Bird - This Hotel is great ! The rooms are lovely (little small) but great bed and great bathroom and shower and lovely hot water ! Staff are kind of unfriendly but whatever, great garden and nice flowers 🌸 My complaint is the Poor Poor bird that they have here with its wings clipped who is SO frustrated trying to fly all day it broke my heart :( Every time I walked past the bird I got sad I know this doesn’t have anything to do with the hotel and I realize that, but to use a caged animal for entertainment to your hotel is so mean I watched the bird eating itself due to frustration It’s in a small small plastic tire all day baking in the sun Even if they could/would let the bird have a little freedom would make a huge huge change to the birds life :( Please consider what I am saying
- R1396GZcharlotteb (10/5): Lovely hostel - Lovely clean room with en suite and tv. Nice courtyard with a hilarious talking parrot that kept us entertained. Friendly staff. Free drinking water and coffee. I just wish they had breakfast but apart from that it was great.

The staff were friendly and very patient with my poor Spanish, the rooms were large and clean and the hot water in the shower was excellent. There is a nice little garden, books and magazines for the guests to read, free water and coffee. I would stay here again

Very good size room, super comfortable bed, free water and coffee! they let you use the kitchen as well which helps if you are on a budget! Excellent location right in the heart of Pana and three minutes from the dock!
- Thilde (6/5): Ok budget hostel - We had booked a room with 2 beds but we ended up with one queen size. I was traveling with my brother so it wasn't too comfortable to share the bed. Also, you couldn't close the bathroom door. However, the room was clean and the place was very cosy. The location and the Wifi was great. I also like that they had free water and coffee.

- KarenInSF (6/5): I came here to relax but... - Let me start with the pros. The room and bed were both comfortable and there was ample hot water (great, since Pana was cold the weekend I visited). Very fast wifi too. But unfortunately that's about it. I came here to relax for a weekend away a hectic schedule of classes and work. And I was not able to do that much considering the noise level from other guests. There is zero soundproofing here, and my room was located near a loud family. Babies screaming and toddlers running around the courtyard and hotel at all hours, day and night. Forget any sort of relaxation. Furthermore I was charged a much higher price than the prices posted. Not sure why. It's off season and cold and rainy by dogs lake.
- Manuela (6/5): An ok hostel - El Viajero is a very charming place at the first impression. Me and my boyfriend were put in a very nice private room with an ok private bathroom. Breakfast was not included, which it was fine, though for the price (USD35) it should be. We wanted to stay another night, but the room was not available anymore, and they wanted to move us to another room a bit more expensive. We decided it wasnt worth it and went to a 20 dollar hostel next to it, since we would only spend the night and be out the whole day. The staff was not very friendly, they did not have any map or helpful informations about the city, and for sure, if you want to book any tour or shuttle, you have to go out to some agency on the streets, since the hostel doesnt seem to provide any of those services. Overall, an ok stay that could be way better if the people working there wanted to.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Small hotel or Nighttime daycare for family's kids - The first room that was booked was on the garden, and the room was despicably small. OK, I thought, can make do with this. The bathroom was clean, though the room had dirty floors near the corners. What was most difficult to comprehend were the owner's family's kids making noise and screaming in the evening. Wanted to get an early rest and make it nearly start of sight seeing in the morning. Could not get to bed until after the kids were sent to their rooms and had an extreme migraine and wondered why I am staying in this place. Very inexpensive, on the strip... Though no sleep. Also, there was a group that came into the place very late and used blender at 11:30 pm and none of the staff walked into the kitchen to correct them. I was about to ge tout of bed, then the blender stopped, and just heard a little chatter until 12 am..... I paid to switch rooms the next day and was away from the first floor garden.

- Jen (8/5): Very warm, welcoming, and hospitable. - Located just minutes away from the lake and right on the main strip. The staff are very accommodating and overall has a very welcoming home feel to it.
- Yaniv (2/5): Worst night in Guatemala - This was a terrible night, i wish i could see the reviews before. The hotel is also a home of a family so that comes with noise from downstairs (children, tv, and a parrot...). As for the room itself, the bed sheets were so old and used that you wake up at night because it's so itchy, the pillows could not even support your head. There's sign on the door says that hot water available from 6-9 am/pm. There were no hot water. After asking twice and hour later there were hot water that lasted for 10 minutes. Also, the shower windows are not covered so people can see you from the next building. Wifi was terrible too. Do yourselves a favor and book somewhere else.
