Catherine (10/5): Location, Location, Location Hidden Gem - B&B Villa Calliandra is truly a hidden gem. We stayed there twice for a total of 10 days during February and March, and it quickly became our home away from home. Located within a maze of sandy streets in a quiet rural residential area filled with flowers and trees, B&B Villa Calliandra is peaceful, beautiful, and incredibly welcoming. The staff work tirelessly to keep both the rooms and property spotless. Nayama, the manager along with Pendant, Assan, Isha and Vitalie all helped make our stay exceptional. Breakfast is included and offers a variety of food for everyone's taste. Each room also includes tea and coffee supplies and a small refrigerator which was very convenient and a tea kettle. Although B&B Villa Calliandra is tucked away, it is not far from the airport. There are signs along the way but you do need to pay attention to them carefully. The property is easy to find onGoogle maps or maps me, and if needed Nyama is always just a phone call away and happy to guide taxi or tuk tuk drivers directly to the location. The beach is beautiful and within walking distance, as are three excellent restaurants. The main tourist area, with many more restaurants, bars, and atms, is about 2 km away and an easy walk. What made B&B Calliandra truly special for us was the warmth of the staff they made us feel like family and it was genuinely said to leave. B&B Villa callender is the only place we would stay in banjul and we cannot wait to return. Nothing.

Estaba a 25 min caminando de Senegambia y del parque de monos. Es genial para ir caminando por las calles y conocer la vida local de Gambia. Faltaba presión en el agua de la ducha.

Sehr sandige Zufahrtswege, vor allem nicht einfach, wenn man eines der Fahrräder gemietet hat, aber dafür kann das Personal ja nichts...

Beverley (7/5): My Gambian experience at a B&B - The staff were supa helpful "Penda" came out to meet me as this place is difficult to find. Penda was friendly and very acoomadting. The shops were a good treck, ok there are local shops but I needed food in my belly and snacks. Nyma offered to show how to get to the supermarkets, and we had a lovely chat o route. The B&B it self was clean well kept with lovely staff. The manager Theresa was a gem. She fell ill when I was leaving. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to say good bye and thank you. Now I'm just saying, the two parasols by the pool side Really need replacing, as does the "patio table" this will make a remarkable difference. Oh yes I bought 1 sprite & 3 Crystal which is the local beer I was charged 520 dalasis. Which I felt was expensive! Will that stop me from returning no.

Penda (8/5): Nice stay - They have a very nice family room. The parent I was travelling with and the niblings were very happy, because the room was huge. The staff was very welcoming. Very clean I would even say spotless. Did not stay long enough to fully appreciate the place and the swimming pool.

And i loved the pool, as i was alone during my stay i was able to enjoy it all. Unfortunately the location is really off, so if you don't have your own car you rely on taxis, they will happily call for you.

I did not had enough of the facility that’s why I’m already planing when to go back to Banjul I got so attached to the ambiance… I think the place should be featured as it is! Roberto (10/5): Exceptional - We just stayed here one day as we had a flight around midnight and needed an affordable room and pool to hang out. The hotel was a very positive surprise and we enjoyed our time here very much. Theresa was great to chat with and she even cooked meals for us. The room was large with comfy beds and the internet was faster than in some of the high-end hotels that we stayed at. Especially if you wanna stay longer somewhere without spending too much, this is a perfect option. Nothing to complain. Only thing might be that it needs a bit of planning when moving around the area with driver etc.

Theresa was such a great host, she was so welcoming and provided everything we needed for our stay. Location was great to visit the local area as well as visiting Banjul and visiting family in Brikama. The facilities were great spotlessly clean and again everything we needed. The pool was clean and a great place to relax and swim. Breakfast was very good. A great selection of meats, cheese, eggs, toast, yoghurt, fresh fruit and more. My children felt so comfortable here, and they were able to be free and see it like a home from home. Thanks for everything. We are looking forward to staying again next time we visit.

The pool is nice and there’s comfortable chairs to relax in. Teresa and her staff were exceptional; they were friendly and informative. Also, as a bonus, there’s some real gems in that bookshelf. Everything was great.

Robert (10/5): A family-friendly option not far from the Gambian beaches - We were originally looking for accommodation on the beach, but not finding anything reasonably priced and to our liking, we moved our search slightly inland. And we are glad we did! The communication prior to arrival and the warm and friendly welcome from the host and her staff make Villa Calliandra an absolute winner. The family enjoyed lazy afternoons by the pool and appreciated the breakfast options. In the evening, we were able to try the traditional tea with the house manager. Nearby are the monkey park and the Bijilo Beach which the kids really enjoyed. Everything was absolutely perfect!
Kimberly (9/5): A wonderful, peaceful stay thanks to - We had a warm welcome, from a wonderful host and staff. The rooms were spotless, as were the bathrooms, and any other place in the house. Take your breakfast on the terrace by the pool and really the day can’t start any better. I loved the area which for some might be further away, but it is quiet, residential, charming, safe and important for us, far from the tourists crowd. Distances are easily overcome with a lovely bike ride or beautiful and reinvigorating beach walks. Nothing.

Centeria (2/5): Our stay was Unacceptable! - The pictures are nothing like the place in person. As soon as we arrived the lights were flickering and went out several times. We have 3 kids and had to be in the dark for almost an hour. Then we asked if we could turn the air conditioning on, she told us we had to pay $11 a night to use it after already paying for our stay online. Mind you, we are in Africa which is near the equator, its hot here. She also charged us for bottles of water and tried to the sell the house to my husband for $400,000. We only stayed one night and had to move to a hotel the following day. We will never go back!
Ines (6/5): Besser für Leute, die mit Tieren verreisen - Wir waren 10 Tage dort. Was am meisten gestört hat waren die Hunde und die Katze, die auch in der Küche rumlungerten. Schon am zweiten Tag waren Tierhaare auf dem Brot. Auswahl war sehr begrenzt. Wir sind dann nicht mehr zum Frühstück als wir sahen , dass die Katze in der Küche auf der Arbeitsfläche rum spazierte. Handtücher müssten manchmal auch angefragt werden. Die Chefin war komisch zu uns. Schade um dieses Objekt. Ist wohl eher was für Tierbesitzer.

Bruce (10/5): Nice bed and breakfast - This is a nice place for a getaway, the rooms and areas are very clean and the staff do a fantastic job. Pool was nice and well kept and you can get drinks on your own and just pay before you leave. The only drawback I would say is the dog kept at the compound who barked loudly at night.
