Guests should kindly note that payment will be taken upon arrival.
If you are with us for multiple nights we would not usually service your room during your stay, however we can on request. Please let us know on check-in if you would like your room to be serviced during each day of your stay.
Please note: The guestrooms are located on three floors and a elevator/elevator offers access to the first two floors with stair access to all three. Due to the original architecture of our Georgian period property all floors have varying levels and do require some access via steps/stairs. Assistance is always readily available.
The hotel is a very popular venue for weddings and events over the weekends and occasional weekdays and has music until late that may affect some of our guest rooms.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation.

Historic building with quirky features - particularly the undulating floors. Evening meal food quality was basic - frozen breaded scampi and chips. Limited breakfast options. Bedroom radiator valve faulty which needed intervention.

- Sandy (2/5): Couldn't wait to leave, would not recommend or revisit this hotel EVER!! - LEAVING...Staff in the reception were pleasant if unhelpful in their lack off information.I OK, The view was lovely. Being kept up to date on delay of porridge, waited 30 min for chef to find and make porridge...which was more like oatmeal and Luke warm...we had to request an update as my husband had finished his breakfast, then had to wait again, after being told 'it wouldn't be long'...very poorly handled.Wait time was very frustrating...NO fresh fruit, what was available came out of a tin, disappointing.... We had difficulty finding the property the post code sends you to the village no where near the hotel...after very frustrating calls, and driving up and down a road going away from the hotel, a member of staff gave us the garage post code which took us to the hotel...having spent 5 hours travelling not impressed...There is NO information in the room at all...we had asked reception about room service, told there was a charge, but NO information regarding how to order or a menu given, we presumed WRONGLY information would be in the room, this is a normal part off hotel life, we have travelled extensively and would have expected a hotel of your calaber, this would be standard practice..., we gave up ate a packet off crisps we had with us, too tired to sort it out....We would NOT recommend this hotel in any form..Regret booking it. For an 'Executive' room it was poor, badly in need of an update and fresh decor, curtains didn't meet we had to put a bag on them to stop them from opening. Bed uncomfortable, kept rolling into the middle and creaked every time you moved. The water ran out halfway through my husband's shower...the list is endless

Love view from our window, spotlessly clean bath (which we didn’t actually use). Comfortable, warm beds. WiFi was not good in our room. Tried a video call, but kept breaking up, and had to give up.

- Mandy (10/5): Perfect location and a quiet romantic weekend getaway - Everything! We made a booking error however the front of house staff rectified it and was very accommodating. So much so, we stayed another night. The room was clean, tidy, very warm and welcoming. Bathroom was exceptional. The views are stunning! Food was fantastic, breakfast and dinner. Good bar and a reasonable selection. A member of the bar staff was constantly on his phone rather than paying attention to guests. Was mentioned to management and they cringed. A little cluster of beds left in the corridor, should have been removed or put away.

Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean and comfortable The radiator was broken in my room and was on the highest heat so was far too hot on a day when it was 23C. There was a wedding on and my room overlooked the courtyard and so it was hot and noisy and I couldn't close the window. The breakfast was poor.

- Louise (1/5): I would advise any future guest to take photos of their room as soon as they check in to avoid similar false allegations - The preposterous invoice I received after my stay for £350 after the manager Milan falsely accused us of damaging the wallpaper with no evidence, including a threat of involving a debt collection agency if I don’t pay for something I am not responsible for. Apparently two women in their thirties spend their city break in Bath peeling little pieces of wallpaper off the walls 🙄 This ridiculous situation was only made worse by the other manager Jason refusing to withdraw the invoice since he was not on duty at the time apparently leaving him incapable of helping to resolve the issue yet he was quite happy to suggest taking the payment from me multiple times when we cut our final day short to go back to the hotel and speak to him. Funny that he was happy to help me resolve the problem as long as I pay £350 Between them they have caused an immense amount of stress and totally soured our trip. We wish we had stayed literally anywhere else.

We had a room upgrade to an executive room with a view from a standard room with a view which was a lovely surprise. Parking was easy and the breakfast was very tasty. The location was beautiful, very quiet, scenic and well looked after. The room was equipped with a fan, towels, hairdryer and kettle aswell as milk, coffee, tea and sugar. It was warm and comfortable in most aspects. Overall, the room was quite dated. A very noisy bed frame (just sitting on it it creaked alot let alone trying to get comfy to sleep) and we were very conscious of how much noise the floors made as we moved around the room. Anyone moving around on the same floor was VERY audible from our room and the adjoining room's bathroom sounded like our own shower/tap/toilet was being used.

Bath hat eine Umweltzone, die aber Pkw's mit grüner Plakette nicht betreffen sollte. Neben der hauseigenen Bar gibt es auch fussläufig ein Pub. Sehr schön ist die Hotelterasse mit angeschlossenem Garten. Das Hotel ist schon ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen.

We had a lovely warm welcome from reception and enjoyed a drink on the terrace that evening. Very accommodating even though they had a wedding event on. Needed better pillows (and more of them), staff marquee outside the room window meant we could hear chatting late at night when trying to fall asleep, and we needed the window open as the room was very hot. Molto bella la terrazza con una bella vista. Il personale e' gentile. L'albergo e' molto datato e avrebbe bisogno di tanti ammodernamenti. E' poco silenziato e la notte si sentivano rumori dal corridoio di gente che litigava. Il ristorante non offre eccelsa qualita' anzi, e la colazione un po scarna c'e poca scelta. Non e' un albergo dove per il prezzo pagato tornerei. Il Wi-fi non funzionava e siamo dovuti scendere in reception per farci dare una linea alternativa.

Au calme, mais à quelques minutes en voiture de Bath. Lits confortables, chambre assez spacieuse à deux. Bon petit déjeuner, personnel sympathique. Très beau cadre puisque l'hôtel est dans un ancien manoir situé à la campagne. Très bon rapport qualité prix. La déco commence à vieillir mais ça ne gâche en rien l'expérience.

- anish (6/5): Beautiful place but not great family room. - We liked the fact that it was close to Bath. The house was beautiful and it was set in the most wonderful countryside location. The family room was not big enough. We had expected a bigger room, like we’d had at the sister hotel. The other thing we didn’t like was that the hotels fire alarm went off several times, within 24 hours. The first time it went off, was in the middle of the night. It really traumatised our child and she still has fear caused by this. The second time was during the following day. We found this stopped us being able to relax. It made us feel on edge.

- 247njh (10/5): Exceeded my expectations - This hotel was comfortable, very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. It is in a lovely location and the terrace has glorious views over the valley, perfect for relaxing over an evening drink or morning coffee. Other reviewers have mentioned that parts of the hotel are tired and needing refurbishment, however for me, the good points listed above more than made up for this. The bar and reception area have been refurbished but as with a lot of old hotels of this age, upgrading the bedrooms are undoubtedly a work in progress. Our room was basic but it was very clean and comfortable with plenty of teas, coffee sachets and biscuits. I would definitely recommend the breakfast as it is well priced at £15 per head and had a good choice of food. Veggie sausages are cooked on request. The restaurant staff were on hand to ensure good service and once again, they were friendly and helpful. The car park is managed by a private company but the hotel website covers this by clearly stating that guests must enter their car registration number and duration of stay on arrival. We did this and didn't experience any problems.
- Lewis (8/5): Would recommend although mattresses and WiFi needs upgrading - Location on the hill was very picturesque. Clean, comfortable and staff very helpful. Mattress was lumpy. Other reviewers mentioned the old beds and I have to agree. WiFi is very patchy and works sometimes only, mobile network coverage is non existent on Three network so WiFi needs to work.

The hotel is located down county lanes that are narrow, and the sign post for entry was not clear. The false fire alarm at 4am and no guidance from hotel staff.

- David (5/5): Hotel in need of investment. Great location somewhat wasted. Evening meal at Hop Pole better - Location was good, however access was problematic as the blocked off road meant a bit of a complex detour. views up the valley from the terrace were good, shame our room was one that had no view at all. Breakfast was well presented and the staff attentive, but having a fixed price - though great if you are having a substantial breakfast - results in an expensive option for light eaters - having 2 options (say) would be beneficial. The facility benefits significantly by having The Hop Pole pub in the village! The evening dining menu is not great - but the quality for this was below acceptable standard. The wine list is poor and overpriced. On the second night we had much better solution at the Hop Pole. Our room was on the small side, it had a small window with a view over outbuildings. This was a real pity as many rooms appear to have excellent views over the grounds and valley beyond. Some of the staff were in need of good mentoring/leading. I wasnt sure if the hotel was in ownership transition - but it felt that way.

- hummybear (10/5): Lovely stay - Missed the turning so had an unfortunately scary journey to the hotel down some very hilly, narrow lanes! Stayed here for one night - 3 adults - family room. A lovely greeting on arrival from the man on reception. Explained everything about the restaurant & bar and where the breakfast was the next morning. The room was lovely - one double & one single bed (not a sofa bed). Very comfortable - a great nights sleep. Tea & coffee in the room with ample milks. The complimentary biscuits were a nice touch. The towels were the best we have ever had in a hotel! The bathroom was lovely - nice finishes & spotlessly clean. Our room looked over the valley - lovely view. Shower pressure was quite low but warm. Went into Bath for the evening (To see a show - Uber both ways) & on arriving back decided to have a drink in the bar. A special mention to the barman - very professional yet friendly. The drinks were reasonable for a good hotel (£7 gin & tonic). After a good nights sleep we went down for breakfast. Buffet style - cereals, pastries, toast, fruit salad & hot food (sausage, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs - various ways cooked to order). We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

- Silvia (10/5): Perfect - Everything was amazing. Location, plenty of parking, hotel itself was stunning! We received a warm welcome from a greek guy, very friendly and helpful! I had to call when we were in the city as I forgot to ask a few things and he was yet again very polite and answered all our questions. The room was spacious, clean and had everything you could need. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. I would definitely recommend and hopefully will be back! Absolutely nothing

An indifferent shower, a leaking tap and just one 13amp plug behind the tv to plug in any usb charging facilities (the others were installed so low to the carpet that they were of no use to do this).

- Brenda (9/5): We had a brilliant time. - The hotel is in an excellent location. It is well decorated and comfortable. The staff are excellent and very helpful.
- James (8/5): Nice quiet hotel beautiful location - The location was beautiful and ideal if staying as a couple, Bath City is about a 15 minute drive. The room was comfortable and clean we got a good nights sleep. The breakfast service could have been better but the hotel manager realized the issue and refunded the cost. No questions ask which I thought was very good service in the end.

- Jürgen (8/5): Historisches Haus mit Flair - Das historische Gebäude hat mega Style und ist so typisch englisch- hat uns sehr gefallen. Insbesondere die Lage ist toll. Empfehlenswert!! Alles nicht mehr so richtig neu - allerdings passt das zur Romantik des Hauses
