We had a lot of noise in our room and asked to be moved - the receptionist was very understanding and we were moved to a lovely , quiet room at the back of the hotel and also found a bottle of Prosecco and. Strawberries with an apology note - couldn’t have asked for more

- Verified traveler (8/5): A Lovely Hotel, Unashamed of Its Age and History - We enjoyed our stay. Yes, the hotel is old-fashioned,in that it's not all stainless steel, glass and fake marble. It's in a historic house, and you really get that feeling, which we enjoyed. Staff were pleasant and efficient. We had a twin room with an uninspiring view of the Reception area's roof, but you can't win 'em all. Everything was clean. And we really enjoyed the pool area, with hot tub, sauna and steam room. It was very clean and - doubtless because of the time of year - we had it almost to ourselves most visits. Great! We ate twice in the Copenhagen restaurant and can recommend it. Plus, they do very good breakfasts. The bar area gets crowded in the evening and it was quite intimidating walking in to book a table for dinner; but it can't be helped. On one day, there was a major electrical problem with our bathroom, which led to a night of poor sleep, which left me feeling shattered - which was unfortunate because although we were on a largely leisure trip, we did have an important meeting the next day. But the management handled the situation very well. We walked into St Peter Port centre and back and although there's a bit of a hill, it's no big deal. We would happily return to the de Havelet hotel.. Next time in the hope of a room with some kind of view, because if you get the right angle, there are some lovely views from this spot.

- Nigel (10/5): Fantastic hotel and very friendly staff - Stayed at the de Havelet for 5 nights. From the moment we arrived the staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was very clean and well appointed and the bedroom had aircon. The swimming pool and spa area was very clean and a nice area to relax after a days sightseeing. The restaurant food was of a good standard and all the staff were helpful.

- David (10/5): - Fridge, air con, daily fruit, bath & shower, huge bed, big room with settee, sockets aplenty, no outside corridor, all made for a comfortable stay. The one requested repair was done within the hour. Staff were in a league of their own, falling over to be helpful.

Only downside is the very steep hill between hotel and the port area. There is a shuttle a few times a day but it may not be a suitable hotel for people with mobility issues.

The restaurant next door (also used for breakfast) was excellent too and the courtyard for alfresco drinks was a great little sun trap. A special thanks to all the staff in the hotel and next door in the Copenhagen restaurant who where friendly & helpful. The hotel is on a hill which may not suit some with motility issues. Although there is a shuttle bus to the harbour area.

We would particularly like to commend Joana on reception who went above and beyond to help us. Attila ,the restaurant manager and his team- Pitchie, Stephanie, Marian and Alessia. They were all very friendly and made our stay most enjoyable.The house keeping team were also excellent and so was the handy man who helped solve a problem for us.We thoroughly enjoyed all the lovely breakfasts we had there and the evening meals, The breakfast spread is extremely good and the cooked breakfasts were all of a consistently high standard. The evening menu/meals were also very good. We enjoyed Mick's complimentary bus tour of the island on Tuesday afternoon and would thoroughly recommend booking a place on that as it gives a nice overview of the island and helped us decide where we wanted to explore later in the week. The only thing we didn't like quite so much was the VERY steep hill the hotel is on. We found a slightly gentler walk down to St. Peter's port through the narrow quaint lanes but after a couple of attempts to walk back up we opted for local taxis. The taxi rank is near the roundabout with the flags on it. The charges were between £5 and £7 which we thought was a small price to pay.

The hotel apologized for the inconvenience but i would not have access to the Lobby because the passageway would be locked. The only Egress/access was down 5 steep stairs from a door opening direct to outdoors. I walk with a cane and managed but some may have difficulties.(#twenty. )staff were excellent, cafe food was superb. View from cafe and cafe terrace was Lovely. Clean and friendly hotel. No compaints, only cautionaries for those with physical challenges. I took a point off in my review because the hotel shuttle bus to town and points of shopping doesn,t operate on Sundays. (Public Busses don't either, post covid crises. .)taxi or Your own car is a must.

Our bedroom was very comfortable and was a good size, pleasantly decorated. The food at Breakfast was exceptional, truely delicious, with excellent & efficient service. I can’t comment on other meals, as I didn’t have dinner there, but I’m sure it’s a great experience if Breakfast is anything to go by. The indoor pool, sauna, steam room & jacuzzi were very good and it was great to have use of that facility. All in all, a very enjoyable stay and I’ll definitely come back again when next in Guernsey.

The property was very attractive, but I had the misfortune of getting one of the ground floor rooms. The windows, if open (no air conditioning) could be easily entered by anyone walking by. I did not feel safe. Upper stories would have been all right.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - From arriving at Hotel de Havelet it felt like I was coming home :-); the receptionist was welcoming and professional and my documentation was ready. I was told my room number and keys (and information pack) was provided. As a previous visitor, on a number of occasions, I elected to make my own way to my room. The room was spacious, and well laid-out; plentiful drink-making ingredients were available. After an early morning flight (and having completed 2 appointments) I readied myself for the first trip the short distance to eh pool area. Everything here was wonderful, from the cleanliness to the facilities (lots of towels, sun-beds, fresh water, showers/WC) and newspapers; soon the tension of the day melted away, and it was time for a little nap, before perusing the dinner menu. The 2 nights that I stayed followed a similar pattern (with some work in-between). Every member of staff with whom I made contact was extremely polite and professional. If I was asked to single out any, it would be the receptionist on my arrival; without his assistance I would have bene unable to access the FREE wi-fi). Checkout was straightforward. I have already booked for my next business trip, in June.

- Eric (10/5): Mother’s 80th birthday weekend - Customer service was excellent, the staff couldn’t do enough for us. They were all very friendly. They even laid us a table at breakfast on the ground floor as my mother couldn’t get upstairs. Nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the staff were very attentive and regularly checked whether we needed anything Only a very minor issue was with our rooms -in the twin room the beds were pushed together there was no gap between the beds so you were too close to the person you were sharing with. Also in the double room the double bed was 2 singles pushed together, the mattress topper was ineffective leaving a dip in the middle. However the rooms were lovely and nicely furnished and this issue did not spoil our visit The log fire in the lounge area was very homely. The indoor heated pool area was a real bonus The view down to Castle Cornet was stunning
- Mark (10/5): Best Western De Havelet - Really nice hotel with friendly, helpful staff, close to St.Peter Port. Good sized rooms, very comfortable. The food was good & bar reasonably priced. Nice indoor pool.

- Edgar (10/5): - The location of the hotel was fine for us but some may find the hill up from the town centre difficult. The courtesy bus had finished for the season, it would be of benifit some of the time. The swimming pool was excellent as was the food in the restaurant.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Fast WiFi. Only curiosity: the hotel has the legacy of several now-dated styles, part modern, part old. Could benefit from a general refurbishment. Everything worked fine, and very comfortable.

- Rob (8/5): Nice Hotel - Hotel overall was good, had a couple of issues with communication, taxi booked for the wrong day and breakfast entitlement wasn’t clearly clarified when we arrived, hopefully this was a blip rather than the norm. Would we return; no it’s a bit too far away from the town with a steep climb back to it, the free transport helped but finished too early in my opinion, would probably use the sister hotel in the town.

- Ellie (10/5): Facilities and service outstanding. - The in-room facilities were the best I’ve ever seen. Decorative state, like new. My stay at the hotel was perfect. Breakfast provided a good selection from a buffet and cooked breakfast looked amazing too. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. All in all I would definitely stay at a Best Western hotel again if this one sets the standard.

Friendly staff, who would go out of their way to help. The mini bus was invaluable,as the hill the hotel is on is very steep! Thank you to Bobby the driver! We had a great stay on the island and would recommend this hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Everything you need and more on Guernsey - De Havelet is a great hotel. Wonderful view from its elevated position in St Peters Port, and a decent sized car park helps, since parking can be a bit of a bane in town. There is a pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi too - all covered - which was most welcome. My single room was dated on the decor side, but very comfortable, great amenities (lots of teas, hot choc, biscuits etc). The hotel has a great and deservedly popular bar and restaurant too, which is much more like a stand-alone/successful-in-it’s-one-right establishment, rather than the overpriced, lazy restaurant you usually come to expect from a hotel-based offering. Staff were super friendly. It really was a great stay.
- ROY&JOYCE (10/5): FIRST TIME IN TOWN AND WE LOVED IT !! - The Best Western 'Havalet' is about 400-500 mts from the closest shops/restaurants. The Food and the staff at the hotel were excellent. We found it to be slightly more expensive than Manchester UK but we considered it very good value for money. St Peter Port is a lovely centre, bright with beautifull flower arrangements everywhere. There is lots to see and do with Bars and food to suit every pocket and taste. There is a wide choice of inexpensive Bus routes to take you all over the Island. We travelled between the 15 and 18th July to visit friends and the weather was great.
- Verified traveler (4/5): So so - Very pricy for just the room and a bowl of fruit. Get a taxi if you have luggage its a steep hill from the harbour. Still waiting resolution as to why I've been charged twice once by hotels.com £171 and once by BW £145.

- Annie (10/5): - The hotel is as near to going to a 5* as you will ever get, but without the high prices. I cannot fault thr hotel or staff. Exemplary.
- G W D (10/5): BW Hotel de Havelet Guernsey - All of the staff were very friendly and helpful to make sure our stay was very pleasant. Everywhere was very clean and tidy. The indoor pool was excellent. The hotel is on a very steep hill, but they run a regular shuttle bus to the St Peter Port area, which is a great additional service.
- Will (4/5): - I occupied room 24. The central heating boiler would appear to be immediately above and was extreamly noisy. In the end I managed about 2 hours sleep. Either the boiler needs to be repositioned or in my opinion the room, and presumably adjacent rooms should not be let without a warning.

- neil (10/5): Excellent hotel and very friendly staff. - Hotel gets 10/10 from us! They accommodated our early and late arrivals. I can’t fault the hotel! We ate, twice, in their Copenhagen restaurant which again was excellent. Spa area is good. The hotel itself is a 10 minute walk up a hill from the centre of St. Peter port.
