Guest Reviews
- Ian (8/5): - The room was large, clean and comfortable, breakfast was nice. The room was almost in line with the front door and was very noisy from the busy square out the front.
The staff worked hard but where probably short on numbers at times

- Maria (9/5): -
- Geoffrey (8/5): Comfortable and centrally located - Location with parking Somewhat limited dinner menu
- edward (10/5): Green Howard's Sunday - Great location, excellent room full of little extras Booked a table for dinner at 1730 on Sunday 10th and on arrival at the stated time we were told kitchen were not serving food. After explaining we had booked and I was a resident. The waitress went away obviously got some information then returned and said it was ok we could dine. No problems after
- jan (3/5): - Great location The most worn-out mattress I’ve ever seen and hearing every sound from the street.
- Antje (6/5): Unfortunately we were disappointed. At nearly £150 a night we expected a lot more. The dinner was substandard too. We wo - Great location Needed updating badly. Unable to open windows for fresh air. Room very small. No heating. Double duvet on king size bed.
- kevin (10/5): Warm welcome great food clean comfy room - Great location great staff All was good
- Wayne (10/5): Throughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return when we are back in Richmond. - The hotel met all our requirements for a weekend break great location the staff were very friendly and professional the food was very good. Maybe some air conditioning as it was the time of year when you could have set a temp just to take the nip out of the air. But apart from this nothing else to complain about.
- Paul (9/5): Great stay over - Staff.. Nothing
- Lesley (10/5): Excellent in every way - The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The rooms were stylish and spotless. Thelocation was great. Nothing
- Eleanor (9/5): Very enjoyable. Especially impressed by the staff and atmosphere. Would stay again. - Great location. Lovely old historic building. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Enjoyed the evening music in the bar - very enjoyable and a definite plus point. Our room was very small but clean and well equipped. The window would not close but I understand from the staff that this problem is to be remedied soon with some roof and window repairs only delayed as it will cause street disruption. Perhaps this should have been identified/reflected in the price. Our friends’ room had no issues.

- IAN (7/5): Hotel needs a refurb of communal areas. Could be much better! - The room was really nice, bathroom excellent, bed very comfortable, nice Roberts radio by the bed.
Cooked breakfast good. The public areas were a bit shabby, there was a really strong bad smell in the stair areas and the first floor landing. A mixture of greasy kitchens and toilets I think.
Coffee unpleasant at breakfast, no fresh fruit, coffee and teapots looked very dirty.

- Tony (7/5): Great place to stay - The central location in Richmond was excellent It is a listed building and really could benefit from a lift we were on 3rd floor maybe a lift is not possible, the room was small but very warm even with window open and radiator off.We did really enjoy our stay thankyou
- Alan (8/5): - The location is fantastic for a visit to Richmond The first room we had was very hot and the heating couldn’t be controlled however the staff were very helpful and managed to move us to another room
- David (7/5): Conveniently located and friendly staff. - Location Ten pound parking fee came as a shock. Only one bath towel in bathroom.
- Bradley (4/5): Poor customer service in lead up to stay. - I’ve used it many times, I like the ambience of the place and location. Extremely poor customer service!
- Rebecca (8/5): -

- Michael (7/5): Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful - The staff were very helpful I tried several times in the days leading to the stay to contact the hotel by phone - every time I received a recorded message explaining that the staff were too busy to answer and to leave my contact details - I never received a call back - very unsatisfactory!

- Kathryn (9/5): Lovely first visit to beautiful Richmond! - Excellent location. very friendly staff. First class toiletries. Great idea to have floor lights in bathroom.
- Calvin (9/5): Would definitely stay again 😃 - Staff are really friendly, positive and helpful and the property was clean. The food was good as well It was a bit tired. It was a shower in the bath - I would just prefer a shower 😃
- Nick (8/5): -
- Pam (8/5): Overall a nice overnight stay. - Breakfast was excellent. Location excellent. It would have been nice to open the window, but there was a sign stuck on, do not open window. It looked a bit unsafe and had a load of filler around it. The room was a bit warm as couldn't open window. The view from window was a tiled roof. The ceiling above the bed was peeling and looked like there had been a leak at some point. The eaves either side of the window were crumbling away.
- Peter (8/5): Character full hotel with a great location and friendly staff. - location was excellent. Staff very friendly and efficient Clearly the room size is dictated by the age/construction of the build and leans towards small. The heating was high but due to an issue with the boiler controls I was told. Step in bath type shower not ideal
- Stephanie (8/5): Really nice hotel in a great location - Great location, rooms were really nice with comfy bed. Large rooms with good amenities. Would definitely recommend. Staff friendly and helpful Price of drinks at the bar, visited a few other bars locally and these prices were highly inflated compared to others.
- Murray (10/5): - Excellent service, good food, great staff, good value for money.
- Laura (10/5): Comfortable rooms, good food, and hard working, friendly staff. - Great location. Good facilities. Nothing
- George (10/5): Excellent 80th birthday celebration. - Historic hotel comfortable with very helpfull staff. No lift, however my case was carried to my first floor room by staff.
- steve (3/5): dont stay on top floor in sunny weather - rooms too hot - Room too hot - uncomfortable - staff not able to move me to another room so had to put up with it
- Karen (8/5): - Staff very welcoming
Very nice location All very good
- Graham (7/5): - Great location in town centre Noisy parties unfortunately
- Lamb (8/5): Enjoyed our stay & very likely to be back. - Central location, car park, friendly reception.
The staff were excellent to a fault & the food at dinner was excellent as well as the breakfast. We had cocktails in the bar prior to eating, these were well prepared.
The bedroom was a bit cramped (310 was as far away from reception as you can get, but we did ask for a quiet room....!) - the bathroom was exceptionally well equiped. The only downside here was the condition of the seats in the lounge area - very lumpy & tired. We had to shift around to find a comfy spot.
Tight bedroom but all good once there.
- Gavin (9/5): Okay - Clean location £174 for one night is expensive
- Clare (10/5): The choice of any hotel Richmond.... Love it!! - As usual our yearly stay was so enjoyable. Staff fantastic and hotel is just so beautifully decorated and comfortable. Nothing..... We love it!
- Ethan (9/5): Excellent place, friendly, feels like going back in time but with modern amenities. would stay again - Very clean, well maintained and old fashioned but in the best way Window wasnt working properly so had to prop it open with a book lol
- Lisa (9/5): -
- Martin (6/5): The staff and location was excellent but the room was a big disappointment. - Location and really friendly and efficient staff Our room had some cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and plaster was missing from the corners of the bay window
The room was definitely in need of some restoration work.
- Appleyard (8/5): -
- Clive Ormerod (9/5): Excellent hotel with efficient friendly staff. - Friendly staff, excellent room and comfy bed. Nothing
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Raymond (8/5): -
- Norman (10/5): - Location and service All okay
- Lynne (7/5): - Very central, ideal for the town, rooms were lovely, very dog friendly, would stay again. Booked meal on the 1st night stay, unfortunatly this wasnt the best, not to the standard of the starting of the hotel, we had 2 cources and it took two and half hours to service us all,
- Gary from Yarm-on-Tees (9/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Andy (4/5): - Well appointed room. Comfortable bed and good breakfast Constant hum during the night from an unknown source which made it difficult to sleep and no way to contact staff after midnight to address this. Also our complaint was dismissed the following morning, blaming the noise on a neighbouring property which was definately false.
- dawn (7/5): - great location..nice food room was nice but noisy..had some buzzing sound all night. asked if we could move to another room but non available.apparently was a new air conditioning system from building next door.
- John (8/5): Overall, an enjoyable stay in a clean and comfortable hotel with hardworking, pleasant staff. - Staff were polite, obliging and friendly. Good atmosphere in the bar and dining area. Food was very good, especially the cooked breakfast but the fish finger sandwich for previous day's lunch was revolting with the fish skin concealed inside the batter.
Bed and room very comfortable but the heat was quite unbearable and difficult to turn down, something I see has been commented on previously but the person who replies to these comments obviously has no clout since nothing has been done. The noise outside the hotel, especially the road works late at night, were very annoying but that was unfortunate and not the fault of the hotel. The toaster at breakfast was inadequate.
- Julie (10/5): Great staff and food. Room was comfortable and very clean. Realy enjoyed our stsy -
- Ridley (10/5): -
- Janice (9/5): Fantastic location - Very helpful and friendly staff. Bed very comfortable. Loved you could take fresh milk from reception up to your room for a good cup of tea! We ate in the town except for one evening. Unfortunately the dinner in the restaurant was not very good; dishes lacked flavour.
- Jeff (9/5): Very enjoyable, will stay again - Great location. Lovely lounge/bar area and dining room. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. A minor gripe but a lift would have been handy especially for unloading/loading car. Parking could be a problem.
- Brian (7/5): - View of a roof from window _ Nothing else
- Andrew B (9/5): - Lovely room, and bathroom. Warm and cosy. Good coffee in the room. The bed was uncomfortable
- Chris (9/5): -
- Jodie (10/5): -
- Nicola (1/5): - I was very ill, so tried ringing and messaging the hotel to inform them I could not stay and could I rearrange another date. No response from the hotel and no help from Booking.com.
Great customer service not
- Marion (9/5): Cosy and welcoming. - Lovely, cosy hotel. Friendly and helpful staff who went out of their way to assist us. I highly recommend The Kings Head Hotel.
