Gillian (6/5): - Easy check in. Had a big room which was clean and comfortable but very dated. For example net curtains had big holes in! The bed was comfortable. The bathroom clean and nice towels but the shower was very hot and the control didn’t cool the temperature down. Also the radiator was either off of extremely hot. We had it turned down to lowest temperature but it was still extremely hot making the room unbearably hot so we left it switched off. Our room was above the kitchen area and we were woken at 6 by very loud music coming from the kitchen area. We rang reception to complain but couldn’t get an answer. This is our second stay at the hotel but probably wouldn’t stay again.

John (4/5): - Room i was given was not a 4 star room, no curtains only wooden shutters that didn't close, tv you couldn't watch because of.its location, dead insects in bath room light, etc. Room picture was not any like any of the pictures on website. I would say 1 star at the best.

Gary (2/5): Disgusting - There was nothing good about the stay, I followed your description of the hotel and it was not a true reflection of the hotel. I will not stay here again and feel cheated having paid upfront otherwise I would have moved hotels. The shower was covered with long black hair before me taking a shower and this remained on the shower wall for the 3 nights. Disgusting…. The bed was made but the tea, coffee etc wasn’t replenished.

Theresa (6/5): - The property is beautiful and in a nice area. The rooms are large, beds are comfortable and enough room for your luggage. The food at the restaurant was very good. Expedia and the hotel website states that the property has laundry service and a place to do your own laundry. We were counting on that as we needed to do laundry. The hotel does NOT have either of those services. The manager was able to help us out and did a small load of laundry for us. Overall we would definitely stay there again.
Tony (6/5): - The standard room was satisfactory but somewhat tired. Access to hangers in the wardrobe was restricted and fiddly because of the enclosed design of the unit. We requested the environmentally friendly light room service option, but the room wasn't serviced at all. The hospitality beverages could have been better stocked, and there was no bottled water, though a jug of tap water was provided on request. The staff were pleasant and friendly, but inefficient. The meals were fine but the service slow and, in the case of some drinks, inaccurate. We had guests for afternoon tea, but had to chase for service.

John (2/5): - Internet never worked and staff couldn’t fix it. Heat did not work first night. Fire at 23:00, stood in the cold for an hour, never an attempt to get us to the pool building to stay warm, no explanation. Watched the maintenance man electrocute himself twice while we at breakfast. But the worst part, was Best Western refused to credit my account for the stay as it was booked on Expedia. The company website was XX / night higher, essentially I am paying for my own rewards. I am done with Best Western and will not use you again.
John (4/5): Not a good experience unfortunately - This review is no reflection on the staff who were excellent. When I arrived at 3.15 my room was not ready I was kindly offered another room but the windows would not close so I had then wait till 3.30 for my original room to be ready. I had booked a double bed but when I got to my room it was 2 singles pushed together. At this point I could not be bothered to go and complain as I was due on a Teams call. I had to do this on my phone as there was no internet and reception had no idea when it would be working and in fact still not working when I checked out. I had a pleasant meal and as I had a long journey I went to sleep at about but was woken up at just after midnight with a noise that resembled tumble dryer with shoes it it. This went on for 20 or so minutes. I have stayed here a number of times before and it has been excellent but sad to say this was a horrible experience so probably will not stay here again.

Matthew (2/5): - Staff great the only positive, I ended up in room 17 (sorry for the poor people who get this room going forward) the first room on the bottom floor, first note, every floor board creaked and cracked, the decor dating back to the 1940's period, horrific brown wooden joy, no desk light, no fan, a tv where 4 channels worked, just miserable, the tiling in the bathroom may well have dated back to the 1920's, the most pathetic gross bottle of some kind of awful shower gel. The window opened onto a car parking space some 9 yards away, the road around the hotel car park and every smoker that came out of the main entrance for them to fill the room with smoke and diabolical chat or playing videos on their phones. But the saving grace was the noise from the room above, oh wow, every floor board creaked, footsteps like a drum being beaten, i paid well over 100 Great British Pounds for the joy, what a dump.

Kelly (6/5): Pricey for what it is - Wasn’t an all bad stay. The First Lady on reception was lovely and really helpful. She was an older Scottish lady with blonde hair who did everything she could to help us. Our first room had the noisiest floor boards (sounds trivial but you literally couldn’t rest your little toe without a horrendous noise. In terms of cleanliness I think they need to hire new cleaners. The dado rail in all corridors were dusty. Our room was very dusty and cobwebby. We moved rooms and the second room the bedding didn’t look like it was fresh I could be wrong but the creases looked like someone had laid in it. By this point after 10 hours driving and one room change already I decided just to sleep in it as I bring a spare pillow case and a blanket anyway. My son is autistic so I didn’t want to make him even more anxious than he already was by suggesting my bedding hadn’t been changed. Was in reach of Edinburgh (about an hour door to door using the park and ride at Halbeath) The family rooms with a shared door access need sound proofing as you can hear everything. I wouldn’t stay here again and would recommend it.

Julie (2/5): - This place could be lovely in so many ways and it’s a beautiful property. The staff is also kind and welcoming. We were really surprised by the state of our room though. We checked in late and realized that both trash cans were full from the previous guests and an unflushed toilet…. We didn’t think it was worth the hassle so we decided to leave it. The next day we also found socks on the chair , brownish-yellow smear on the bedding and used band-aid plastic on the bathroom floor. The bathroom is very humid so our bath towels didn’t dry overnight because the towel warmer doesn’t work. The lady at the front desk was very accommodating and dropped off some new ones. We left before the end of our stay.

Door to garden broken hinges broken and glass of window smashed Definitely wouldn’t go again

Breakfast selection was very poor, no pastries left one hour before breakfast closed. No yogurt. Low quality sausage. The gardens were lovely and the bed was comfortable but apart from this very disappointing.

If I were to visit again this is where I’d stay! (Need more signage to direct people when pulling off the road and onto the road you go on to get to it) It’s out of the city but still close enough. There’s a bakery close to it too! Would definitely recommend!!
DOUGLAS (4/5): ONE NIGHT - Friendly staff, food was ok. Dirty glasses in room, sticky surfaces, back door to garden area was wide open on arrival and didn’t shut properly allowing door smoke from garden area to filter in. Clock had not been reset to BST and so was showing time as an hour earlier - pretty significant if you are rising at 4 am. Evening meal was ok - took 45 minutes to get it though. Even place setting had cutlery in wrong place. Am I being fussy? Location is good for park and ride to airport but there are a lot of other good hotels in the area - I’ll not be back.

The staff were so lovely and friendly, professional and made sure we got everything we needed. Wee guy ( might have been manager or something) was so good with my niece as well I'll defo be back
Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel was ok. Only had one night booked so I didn’t have any food other than breakfast. Breakfast was decent and the staff were helpful. One thing I will say is I could hear the conversations through the walls on either side of my room. Didn’t affect me too much but I am aware that could affect a light sleeper or potentially be very annoying. Shower curtain in my room was not clean. I can see past any decor that can be dated but I think having stains on the shower curtain is something that shouldn’t be a thing. It stops the feeling of cleanliness in the bathroom. I didn’t use the gym or pool but it did look like fun.

The staff were very nice and helpful. The food was delicious. My only issue was, that a hotel, the size of this one, their wine list was pretty pathetic. There was only one Rose and a Prosecco. There were I think 4 types of red and four of white. I drink Rose and the one they had, is the one I dislike the most, so I had to change to a white. Was extremely disappointed.

Rooms weren’t very soundproof either so we were woken quite a few times by different parties passing our door at 3am. We had a patio door out to the garden which was great for the dog, and the reception were helpful when we had room issues. The restaurant was empty on the Friday night when we chose to dine there, but the food was really underwhelming for the price that it was.

Joanna (8/5): - Good pool. Room was ok for a night. Hotel lobby smelt like stale cigarettes but overall ok for a night. Hotels.com pin for directions not correct takes you to houses around the back of hotel so put hotel name directly into your own navigation system.
angela (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Lovely friendly staff, excellent room with french windows. Free parking and they didn't charge me for my dog. I had a lovely meal which was reasonably priced. Overall lovely experience and would recommend.

Kushan (10/5): - This is a unique property away from the City but well worth the extra 30min drive. The breakfast area view is beautiful buffet is pretty good and the staff really nice. The surrounding area is green and pretty.
William (10/5): Amazing hotel! - We had an amazing experience this weekend. Overall 10 out of 10 for everything. Food was great, rooms were clean and tidy, spa facilities excellent, staff very friendly.

Dawn (10/5): Nothing too much - Just the one night stay this time, with dinner and breakfast. Required a wheelchair accessible room. Had a confirmation email within hours of booking and everything was absolutely as requested when we arrived. We made use of the leisure facilities too. Staff couldn't do enough for us, every single person we came into contact with, even helping us get the heavy wheelchair back into the car. Thank you, we will be back (we'd like the cocktail menu to be ready 🍹😉)

David (8/5): Best Western Keavil House, Dunfermline - Stayed Thur 21st - Sat 23rd Nov. Room was clean & tidy if a bit dated. No light in the entrance hall to the room which made it difficult to see & access the clothes hangers in the wardrobe area. Shower took ages to get hot. But the bed was excellent & really comfy. A good nights sleep had by both of us. Leisure facilities were excellent with a good sized pool. Buffet breakfast was excellent with a good variety of choices from cereal, breads & croissants, fruit & the usual cooked items.
Verified traveler (6/5): Last minute stay - freezing room - Last minute booking, receptionist was lovely. Room absolutely freezing on arrival….the freezing temperatures outside matched the room. Turned heating up but took a long time for the room to warm up. Sat in my coat working for around an hour and a half, then had a bath to warm up. Once at temperature quite cozy. I’d suggest leaving heating on low, this would prevent guests having to turn heating up to full on arrival….and possibly more cost effective?

Maria (4/5): Would not stay here again - There was an awful damp smell aroma to the floor and all along the corridor we was staying on. Ground floor. I thought it might be because the laundry room was near to our bedroom. However the bathroom in the room was clean but the damp smell was worse in there.

Verified traveler (8/5): - Noise insulation between the rooms was poor, we could hear snoring from one of the other rooms and when those in the room above moved around the floor boards creaked very loudly and woke us up.
Irvin (10/5): - Good breakfast, courteous, helpful staff. The pool area was very good. Our room was too far from reception and too far from the car park. I had two knee replacements and a hip replacement. It was tough negotiating the stairs and the long corridors. I should have requested a room on the ground floor. Was a comfy bed and pillows.
Joyce (6/5): - As it is an older hotel the floors were very noisy when every step was taken. Steps from car park to hotel not ideal with luggage or elderly.
Manoj (6/5): Overall a good place to stay - The location is really good if you are driving into Edinburgh. It has gym and spa (sauna, swimming pool) facilities that you can use. I enjoyed my stay as I was only there to get a good night sleep. The rooms are of good size. The only thing about this place is it lacks maintenance.

Verified traveler (10/5): Affordable one night break - One night stay in a twin room, hotel is easy to find with free parking. We enjoyed the swimming pool, main reason for booking. Room was a bit tired in places and some dust evident, but beds were comfy and outlook to the garden was good.
