Guest Reviews
- lacarte (9/5): - The 500 years old Ottoman house and garden, very kind and helpful people, nice breakfast, the lemon trees, the cats. We should have planned a longer stay in Bodrum, for sure next time. Almost nothing, maybe the water pressure of the shower can be improved.
Casa vazia. Todas as demais portas trancadas.
- Peter (9/5): Unique Ottoman watch tower apartment in beautiful gardens - Quirky and massive three storey Ottoman watchtower. This was a very unique stay and we loved the room(s). We visited in mid-March and it was quiet at night and a short walk to Bodrum centre.
Breakfast was great with everything from cheese to olives and lemon cake to boiled eggs. Very tasty.
Cute little dogs and cat. A lovely and very big courtyard / garden area There is minimal sound proofing between the room and the eating/ bar area below. We visited in mid- March when it was quiet but I can imagine it might be hard to get an early nights sleep in high season but I had a lovely quiet nights sleep when we visited.
I’m ashamed to admit that I like a tv and there wasn’t one in the room but we were fine using a tablet.

- Ljiljana (10/5): The best way to start a holiday and experience the spirit and hospitality of Turkey. - A beautiful authentic Turkish house transformed into a hotel with a charm of bygone times. The lush garden is full of cozy corners for relaxation, acompanied by friendly cats, a charming bar, and gracious host who kindly fulfilled every request we had.
- William (10/5): Amazing beautiful spot. Would love to go again - The peaceful garden located so close to bustling port was a welcome respite.
- Nandan (6/5): -
- Usama (9/5): Perfect stay for a short Bodrum trip! - We had a really lovely stay at Ha La Bodrum. The rooms were cozy and comfortable, and the location was a big plus—very close to the city center, so getting around was easy. The host was also genuinely kind and helpful, which made the whole experience feel warm and stress-free.
Breakfast was another highlight: well-prepared, nicely balanced, and with a great selection of mezze-style options. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay and we’d happily come back and recommend it to others visiting Bodrum. Nothing we disliked
- Jason Houle (10/5): -
- Greg (9/5): Very comfortable and welcoming family-owned small hotel - Wonderful family hotel in an historic home. Very comfortable and welcoming. Lovely Turkish breakfast Nil
- Marit Karina (6/5): - Hyggelig gårdhave. Katte overalt der var meget nærgående.
- Lukas (10/5): -
- Paul (5/5): - Hosts were lovely the property itself was old world charming. Close to Marina. breakfast was nice. There was a a big party of ladies enjoying a dinner evening, which was totally fine. As the property is so old there is not much in the way of sound proofing at all. We had white noise on as we went to sleep, but then they started Karoke or something, with a mic and speakers and it was blaring out, this was after 10pm and even after ear plugs in as well, it was very difficult to sleep. This spoiled what was a lovely relaxing stay. Not what we were expecting when you have guests elsewhere on the property trying to sleep and having paid to do so. That was frustrating and a big disappointment for us.
- Abdulrahman (10/5): -
- Rashmi (10/5): Paradise in Bodrum. We loved every single second of our stay at Ha La Bodrum and can’t wait to return. - Hidden gem, best best family owned and run property with a Speakeasy. The housekeeping and breakfast staff were incredible. Laundry facilities 10/10, our clothes came out better than professional laundry facilities in London haha!
Perfect location!!!
Thank you Aylin & Ayça xo N/A - everything was 10/10
- Lia (8/5): Super!
- Chelsea (10/5): Wonderful oasis in Bodrum - Such a cute and magical property! We were looking for something unique in Bodrum and we found it. The grounds and house are beautiful and you can feel so much care has gone into the property. Breakfast was fantastic and the service was great. We were road tripping the coast and while Bodrum wasn’t our favorite stop we felt like we found the best place to stay for our 2 nights here.
- Anand (7/5): -
- Jose (8/5): -
- Mohammed (10/5): I would choose Ha La Bodrum again . - Cozy , home-feel , comfortable and well-located Nothing.
- Vasiliki (10/5): If you want to actually relax and feel like u r in another world look no further than Ha La - this place is diamond of a - The people running the Hotel, the location, the magical feeling of the place, the greenary all around, the unique beauty of the rooms, the BREAKFAST and the cute bar on the evenings!!! Also the cats ❤️ thank you Ha La team Nothing
- Jasmine (10/5): - Such a lovely stay for our last night in Turkey, we wish we had longer!! Everything was beautiful and all the smallest details were thought of. Will definitely be back when in Turkey again.
- Rashmi (10/5): Charming, gorgeous peoperty with amazing hosts!!! - What a perfect stay. If this within your budget, I would say don’t think twice - BOOK immediately!
It’s a gorgeous generational home run by the most charming & kind family and team. The rooms are spotlessly clean, and Ayça and her beautiful sister Aylin, went above and beyond for us, sharing local recommendations (even for Kos which is a Greek Island 30-min away by Ferry).
They also provide a laundry service; the clothes came back not only in less than 24-hours but the most beautifully ironed AND hung up in the wardrobe!!!
Thank you for the phenomenal stay - we can’t wait to return! N/A
- Ellis (9/5): -
- Alasdair (9/5): - Very well situated right in the middle of the old town.
Only a 3 min walk to resturants. Lovely breakfast. Nothing
- Luca (10/5): Fantastic experience at Ha La Bodrum. - Cats everywhere, they rules the place :-D
Cocktail bar in the evening
Peace and relax in the garden
- Harrison (9/5): Beautiful property that looks like you’ve stepped into an oasis - Beautiful property that looks like you’ve stepped into an oasis. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The speakeasy bar was probably the best bar I visited in Bodrum.
- Diana (10/5): An oasis in a beautifully preserved historic homestead set within a large garden steps from the port - The breakfast on the terrace in the lush garden was absolutely perfect, in an idyllic setting with friend service. Everything was served fresh to the table for each guest: olives, ripe tomatoes, a variety of local cheeses, a selection of fruit like the most succulent peaches or watermelon, fresh bread, preserves, and a homemade local delicacy. There was tea and coffee, and I asked for eggs, which were perfectly done. But if I was to single out one feature I liked best, it would be the unique charm of the premises. It is an old Ottomon villa which has been in the same family for over 3 centuries and all of its charm, thick stone walls, high ceilings and timber details have been preserved. It has also not been over-renovated to lose its character. The garden is idyllic, filled with trees, fruit trees, olive trees and a few palms, which offer dappled shade under the many secluded seating options for guests. At night the place is absolutely magical, with lights in the trees and around the bar area which serves some of the best cocktails I have had in a while, anywhere. It's a hidden gem almost worth coming to Bodrum for....a little oasis just three streets up from the old harbour near the mosque, but completely out of earshot and in a world of its own. It was a perfect surprise for me, as I had to spend a night before and after a week with my friends on a gulet, in order to catch my flight. nothing to add here.
- Giulio (8/5): Ottima location, giardino magnifico… stanza claustrofobica - Ottima struttura, paesaggio meraviglioso. Colazione super!
- Khalique (10/5): -
- KHALIQUE ZAMAN (10/5): Best experience in Bodrum - It was indeed a wonderful experience, will be etched in our memories forever. Thanks to the hospitality of the host family and specially Ayecha.
The Room, the premises showed the real history of Bodrum. Loved it so much and highly recommend.
- marta (10/5): Magic place, best in Bodrum ❤️ - Ha La Bodrum is the best place to stay. The hotel is beautiful, full of design, special furniture, and an amazing library full of books and albums. All with stories, love, and magic. Bedroom and bathroom were very comfortable. We found all that we needed. Very clean, very good position near port and very caring staff. Attended all our needs. Breakfast delicious and drinks in the bar super. Amazing music makes us feel good and relaxed. Is like stay in the Family House ❤️ can't wait to visit them next year. Already miss this magic place ✨️ Ha La Bodrum will stay in our hearts forever 🥰
Niente
- Agathe (10/5): Beautiful stay in Bodrum! - We loved this beautiful house and cosy garden; the family hosting us was very kind! I also recommend enjoying a drink at the bar in the evening. The room was really spacious and squeaky clean! Very relaxing environment
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Tala (6/5): A unique experience with beautiful scenery and a strategic lovatoon but some stumbles here and there during the stay. - The location is just fantastic ! Super close to marina and the market area. And the style of the room is beautiful. The entire place carries a beautiful aesthetic that is unique. I didn’t like how there was no reception 24/7 & that when I needed assistance with the parking space I didn’t get much help. Parking space is limited and might find difficulty getting one. Also, the shower water was freezing.
- Rosa (10/5): Beautiful hotel feels like home!! - This hotel really has to be seen to be appreciated! It is old and charming with all the modern amenities… a gorgeous garden a true ‘old world’ feel! Very special! The family who owns it gives personal attention!
- Ruairioh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Murphy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Naná (10/5): I'm so proud of myself for finding such an amazing B & B! - We absolutely fell in love with Ha La Bodrum. We always prefer to stay in authentic, unique places, and Ha La Bodrum exceeded our expectations. It's a beautiful stone house with five bedrooms, originally owned by the family's grandparents. The grounds are beautiful too, with gorgeous seating areas, lots of friendly cats and kittens, and lovely bougainvillea. The family went out of their way to help us--from setting up dinner reservations, to leaving a lovely bottle of wine in our room to celebrate our anniversary, to helping our tour guide find the property. The breakfast was fantastic, and they also served us afternoon iced coffees. We had the big suite, which is so cool. The stairs may be a problem for some, but they weren't an issue for us. We loved every bit about our stay and would love to visit again someday. The WiFi and AC worked flawlessly, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was fantastic! Thank you so much!
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - Lots to like. The location is quiet, but only a few minutes walk from all the restaurants and night life. The hotel itself is as beautiful as the pictures, the breakfast is generous, and the staff were really friendly and obliging. Totally recommend. Nothing negative. I would happily stay again
- Yang (10/5): Exceptional - Best place in Bodrum you can find
- Yang (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing service, cute rooms, very heartwarming place, everyone was sincere I'll definally go back. Their cocktail bar has suck a good vibe, everything was so lovely.
- Mike (10/5): Magical, honest, authentic and very very special. - A magical place with antique bars in secret gardens under Jacaranda Trees with beautiful cats, plants, and people. Reminded me a lot of my life in Oaxaca. Nothing
- Diego (6/5): Pleasant - The staff was nice and the room was clean. We were greeted by a few barking dogs, all of which were small but still, they were very invasive and I was a little uncomfortable given the many stray dogs you see. They barked very often, but at least not as we went to bed.
The entire property looked amazing in the pictures, but maybe it was just the photographer because it didn't look half as beautiful in person. It certainly isn't unpleasant, but my expectations were not met. It almost seemed like the whole outdoor space just wasn't used much. The bar in particular looked like it hadn't been used in a couple years.
The room was smaller than it looked in pictures. The curtains did not do a great job of covering the entire windows.
I didn't notice the shower in the bathroom was not actually a shower, but just the shower head hovering over the toilet. I see now the many reviews saying this and don't know how I missed it. This meant the whole bathroom floor, sink, toilet, and mirror had water all over it, and I had to sit on the toilet to wash myself. In the end, it wasn't as bad as I make it sound, but still, guests don't want to bathe themselves like this on their holiday. I understand this is a very old building and not much can be done to change this, but I feel the pictures of the room selection should make it very clear what the visitor is getting.
Breakfast is served at 9:00 but we had to leave at 8:30. At first it seemed they might accommodate our timing when they asked when we had to leave, but when the time was established she was quick to simply say that this was before breakfast time. In my opinion, a 9:00 breakfast is rather late.
Even though I knew we wouldn't be here long, I was very much looking forward to this property after seeing the pictures. While it is certainly not a bad place, my overall expectations were unfortunately not met.
- Omar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Antoine (10/5): Very good - The welcome was very good, the hosts were very nice and the bed was comfortable. Very short walk into town, half hour taxi to and from the airport, 2 minutes from bars and restaus yet in a quiet residential street. Nothing it was good I liked it very much.
- Lisa (7/5): Good -
- Fisher (9/5): Rustic beauty and tranquility. - Everything. The rustic beauty. The peaceful vibe. The gorgeous garden. The bougainvillea. The cats. Just perfect. The tiny bathroom where you have to sit in the toilet to shower
- Chris (8/5): Very good - The property is a beautiful quirky old stone house set in a magnificent tranquil garden. It is a boutique hotel of only 5 rooms. It is located close to shops, restaurants and bars. Two lovely sisters run the hotel. The reception is often unmanned
- Peter (10/5): Great stay would recommend - Charming family run place, lovely peaceful garden for breakfast, full of character.
- Murat (10/5): Excellent - The most unique, quiet and noise-free hotel among the hotels we stayed in during our holidays, but also very close to the main attractions, bars-restaurants and stores of the city are.
A 500-year-old stone house was converted into a hotel, and due to some legal restrictions, hotel comfort could not be fully provided in every room during the conversion.
If you are looking for the comfort of the fashionable hotels, this place is not for you. However, if you are looking for an accommodation in nature, away from the noise of the city and where you can relax but still be close to the city, this is the right address for you.
The breakfasts you will have on the veranda are very good in terms of variety, content, quantity and taste, and you can make small touches about the breakfast according to your wishes.
Since we love pets, the family's little dogs that show themselves from time to time, the cats that wander around you and sometimes sit on your lap, give the hotel a very homely atmosphere.
Two days a week, this magnificent garden turns into a lounge-bar where very decent people come, the service is done by the two daughters of the family that runs the hotel. The drinks are of high quality and the portions are more than you can drink on Bar Street
The family is extremely positive and cheerful, they do their best to make you feel at home and meet your requests as much as possible.
We definitely recommend it. Nothing
- Agostino (10/5): Could not complain it was very good. - Breakfast was great the location was easy to get in to the centre and the rooms were satisfactory. The Coffee😂
- Yvonne (9/5): Superb -
- Yvonne (9/5): Superb -
- Keith (9/5): Superb - Amazing centuries old traditional Turkish stone home building with a lovely garden. The location was perfect as within walking distance of the hustle and bustle of the waterfront area and sights - but still private in a very quiet side street. Breakfast in the garden with a little company of the household pets was a pleasure .
- Elisabeth (9/5): Peaceful authentic hotel - Superb garden, authentic setting and decoration, young friendly staff The bathroom was a bit small
- Madeleine (7/5): Cute hotel but some issues - The breakfast was delicious and fresh. The building and decor is lovely. Charming garden with cats and dogs. The restaurant in their courtyard has music playing late every night they are open (11pm or til midnight) so it’s not a good place if you’re looking for a peaceful stay. Generally seems like the restaurant is a bigger focus for them than the hotel.
The room could also do with a few extra details to make it more functional. For instance, it is incredibly dark in the room. There is only one dim light, making it almost impossible to read in the evening. Some bedside lamps could fix this. The bathroom is very small, so the shower is almost over the toilet, meaning the whole room gets wet. That’s fine, but it would be helpful if they provided a squeegee so you could clear away all the water after showers and there isn’t a slipping risk for the rest of the day.
- Mariam (8/5): Very good -
- Carrie (8/5): Short but sweet. Breakfast was included but we left before 9:00 am. - Property was a beautiful old stone home with a beautiful garden. The bathroom did not include a shower. There was a nozzle but nowhere to stand as sink and toilet were under nozzle.
- Lyndall (10/5): Exceptional service at a gorgeous boutique hotel which has been put together with love and creativity - It is a unique and very special place where you feel comfortable and happy Loved everything about it
- Hasan (8/5): Very good - Location was very perfect for walking to marina and shopping center.
Staff was always helpful and smiling.
Traditional breakfast was also nice to have in the morning. In the standard room, (cheapest room) they can make a little renovation so the shower can actually work without floating the room. I knew the shower was like that but didn't expect to have a floating. personally, this is the only negative point I found for the establishment. I certainly can revisit but not choose the standard room next time unless they make a small renovation. With only one negative point I strongly recommend this place if you like to visit the city center.

- Enrique (8/5): Cosy and friendly hotel in the center of Bodrum - Lovely garden and room as well as super friendly staff.
- Heather (10/5): Bohemian stay in an old family home - Love the quirky building
The bohemian style and relaxing vibe
The bar in the evening with the music, the fairy lights just finished off a great stsy
Would love to come back
Breakfast was homemade and original
Dont expect the norm here :) Nothing
- Peter (10/5): The staff looked after our every need in this exquisite historic boutique hotel - We loved the stone home now turned into accommodation. Sitting in the garden and having breakfast.
- Wayne (10/5): An amaizing stay in a charming 500 year old family home. - An amazing 500 year old home with charactor and so much charm. Also hosted by a lovely family who could not do enough to make our stay very comfortable and truley amaizing. There is a great antique shop just up the road, so if interested, just ask the family for directions. Nothing
- Gillian (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was very good. At busy times of year the nearby Otopark would be very helpful, this should be mentioned in the site description. Breakfast at an earlier time would be appreciated.
- Alan (1/5): never again it is not a hotel, its a house with a bad room and an even worse so called ensuite, over - We decided not to take it as the kitchen is overrun by cats playing on the kitchen surfaces The so called ensuite,is,nt, its a toilet with a shower head over the toilet bowl, the space is less than a square meter and has a window with no curtain and people across the way can look directly in, when i complained the hosts brother threatened to punch me in the mouth, every time we opened our bedroom door cats and dogs would attempt to get in, the bedroom is so dim i couyld nt even read a book, even with the lights on, it was a terrible place and i would not recommend anyone to go there.
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional - lovely traditional house in a garden. delicious breakfasts and friendly staff. very good location
- John (8/5): Very good - Very helpful friendly service. Lovely interesting and tasty breakfast. Comfortable and spacious room. Not great sound insulation when room above occupied.
- Shahan (10/5): it was a great stay . my daughter and me just needed a homely feeling to relax after the pandemic. it was the perfect p - it’s simplicity and great hospitality can’t say anything
- Lucie (4/5): Disappointing - It is well located and the garden has charm. However, this was our least favourite hotel on trip. When we arrived at 8:50pm, the hotel was locked – there was no one on site and no one picked up the phone. Although it was out of season, we had informed them we would arrive around 9.00pm. When the host arrived 5 minutes later, she came with barking dogs, quickly took payment and showed us to our room then disappeared again. It was by far the least hospitable experience we had in our whole 2 weeks of travelling in Turkey.
The room was also impractical (with many knicks-knacks everywhere). The bed was too small even though we were two short women, we can only imagine how uncomfortable it would have been for a man. There was no headboard but a very low painting with a frame which hit your head when you sat up in bed. There was no bedside lighting so very uncomfortable to read in bed. Dogs barked repeatedly throughout the night. We could hear every footstep of the people above us (and the only other guests in the hotel) - they arrived in the early morning hours and we had to be up at 5:15am so don’t think it worked for either of us. The lady who served us breakfast was very nice and helpful. The food was good. However, we were constantly bothered by a cat who kept trying to jump on to the table to get our food and by jumping barking dogs.

- Anonymous (8/5): A lovely guesthouse and the family who run it are divine, the surrounding area and the animals make it feel homely and t - The staff and homeliness of the property showering in the toilet
- Geethananthini (10/5): Amazing stay in Bodrum and delicious breakfast 😘 - Amazing in one word. It was beyond my expectation, never thought I would stay in such a historical place with antique interior. Maria, the host was very welcoming, friendly and good cook too. The breakfast was so delicious made my Maria herself. The garden and everything about this place is just beautiful. Perfect location too. I will be staying here again for sure 10/10 for this place ♥️ Perfect
- Alicia (7/5): Medieval house with big beautiful garden. - Great location, very closed to the marina. The building is an ancient house with a beautiful big garden with flowers and fruit trees and very friendly dogs and cats. Too many steps to climb eg. to your room and from the living room, one have to climb a few steps to the bedroom and from the bedroom, one have to climb a few steps to the bathroom. The breakfast was served from 9am which is late if you're going on a tour. We only managed one breakfast out of 3 days stay.
- Hediye (9/5): Superb - - Very cutely decorated rooms
- Incredibly extensive and delicious breakfast in the backyard
- Very kind staff
- Very interesting library
- Very good location downtown, just 5 minutes by foot to the water and main street (far enough to be away from the noise but close enough for all the action)
- Parking area just 50 meters down the street towards the sea
- I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again myself too! - Due to the fact that this is an old stone building, I could hear the couple below my room talking late at night, and very clearly so. Since I knew they probably weren't aware of it, I simply went down and told them, I was lucky, problem solved.
- In the high season it might be difficult finding parking right in front of the hotel
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (8/5): quirky, historic, different-lovely ambience - authentic, secluded garden, historic building, lovely outdoor bar area breakfast only really provided for Turkish cuisine-
- Matthew (7/5): Loved the charm and helpfulness of the owners. The lemon grove is beautiful and we loved the cats. - very unique property, the breakfast was delicious. the standard room does not have an adequate bathroom for someone who is 6 feet tall or more.
- Meysa (8/5): Very good -
- Beyza (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexey (10/5): Exceptional - A fantastic estate with a long history in a walking distance to the city centre. Breakfasts in the garden under lemon trees are superb! In the evening you can enjoy variety of great cocktails in the bar accompanied by a great selection of the music. Sound proofing could be improved as the music from the bar might cause inconvenience for early birds
- Asli (9/5): A lovely, traditional stone house with a beautiful garden and superb breakfast. - A unique, beautiful old stone house, surprisingly chill and calm amid the vibrant nightlife of Bodrum city. You get an amazing, super fresh breakfast under the satsuma trees. I wished that I have a bigger stomach, everything was sooo tasty:) Our room was very special with interesting details in old Turkish style, wooden floors and high ceiling, definitely worth seeing. We stayed at the big suite with 3-floor, and felt like king and queen in the old times.
In the evening, the garden turns into a speakeasy bar with fantastic cocktails. Highly recommend if you're after a secret, cozy place with surprising tastes, great music and vibe. If you're a cat lover, then it would be even more heavenly for you! We socialized a lot with their cute cats while sipping the cocktails. Since the room was 3-floored, the AC didn't cool up as much. But I like to sleep a bit warmer anyway, so I did fine.
- Birgit (9/5): very relaxing and a wonderful breakfast - the magnificent garden
- Paul (9/5): Highly recommend you stay here! - Room and hotel was fantastic One bad experience with the bar man. He was rude when I first met him, then completely ignored me the second time I sat in the bar area. I guess he doesn’t like Brits. Everyone else was amazing, particularly Marina who looked after us so well. That’s the only reason I gave a 4 for the staff.
