Guest Reviews
- Susan (10/5): Would highly recommend. This was perfect for our weekend. - Lovely, clean, spacious and exactly what we needed. Plenty bathrooms and very comfy beds.
- Lynsey (10/5): - The house was gorgeous, spotless and Stewart was very accommodating
- Matej (10/5): - Warm, clean, spacious.
- Julieann (10/5): Amazing. Also Stewart the host was very nice. Really enjoyed the welcome basket. - My self, sister and two friends booked the property for the weekend to attend the comic con event at the Eikon centre. The property had everything we needed for our two night stay. Was also quick and easy to get a taxi from the property to the centre. Will definitely be booking again next year..
- Serena (8/5): Very enjoyable few days in oatlands. I would recommend it to other families - Welcome pack was much appreciated Nothing
- Jayne (8/5): This accommodation was booked for a family meet up for the weekend with family travelling from abroad. The accommodati - This was a great property to rent It was easy to get to and all utilities were easy to work and in very good condition The bedrooms where spacious with ensuits and the beds were very comfortable The cooker needed a bit of a clean before using but that’s probably me just having a bit of OCD
- Rachel (10/5): -
- Aibhin (10/5): - The house was lovely, very clean and had all the necessary requirements for a comfortable stay . Nothing we loved it
- Valerie (10/5): Excellent - Very good...lovely cottage...had everything we needed for our stay..! Only let down for me was the Pillows on the bed...need changing...as much too flat for us...( soz)... Not comfortable..!

- Vanessa (9/5): Superb - The beds were SO comfortables, the towels were so fluffy and luxurious. The house is so well insulated, it was very warm and pleasant. Only the lack of a view/garden
- Brid (10/5): Great for family gathering - It was ideal location for attending a wedding in larchfield estate. Close to Hillsborough, lovely restaurants and coffee shops, close to Lisburn for bigger shops. Beds really comfortable, well stocked with glasses and cups and plates. Will be back hopefully for a week sometime in the future Nothing

- Ellen (10/5): I think this let is one of the most best appointed houses we have stayed in. - We travel to Ireland several times a year to see our Irish team and this has been the nicest we have stayed in.
The flat is spacious, spotless and really warm.and they provide everything you need. The house is fantastic but could only be used as a base, it isn’t a place that you would sit outside. This wasn’t a problem for us but just to make others aware
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was spot on, the hamper of basic essentials was a lovely touch, location was perfect for us Nothing.. didn’t have a single bad point
- Geoffrey (9/5): Superb - Clean, modern facilities.
- Elliot (9/5): Superb -
- Shauna (10/5): Super location and a beautiful, comfortable house!Bonus that it's dog friend.Would highly recommend. - I loved the space and decoration of the house a lovely place! It was a nice touch to receive the food hamper too which came in very handy and had access to Netflix. The location was great, so peaceful yet still a short distance from Belfast and shops. It was brilliant having a washing machine and dishwasher as well as all kitchenware superbly stocked. Loved being surrounded by animals with horses nearby as well as seeing some dogs and cats too. It would have been nice to have some form of soap and shower facilities in the bathrooms but not a huge deal as we bought some in sainsbury up the road.
- Carol (9/5): Superb property - The host is extremely helpful and proactive. Decor looked fresh, as did the bedding, and all areas were clean and well maintained. The welcome pack was very useful, too.
Great location with good parking. There was no helpful folder that I have found so useful in other self-catering properties. Not only do these folders explain about heating, where to put rubbish, the nearest shops and places to visit and so on. Perhaps it is thought to be no longer necessary in this digital age, but it's great to have to hand for easy reference.
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephanie (10/5): Beyond our expectations x - Wonderful accommodation. Absolutely everything you could need, provided. Stewart was a lovely host, welcomed us to the property and provided a superb welcome hamper with all of the necessary essentials, upon arrival. I would highly recommend staying here. I was amazed at the quality of all of the fixtures and fittings. The bedroom furniture was stunning. Comfortable mattress, great night's sleep and a very safe place to stay. We would definitely return x
- Paddy (10/5): Exceptional - Nice area just 10-15 mins from shopping centers
House was stocked with essentials (bread milk cereal)
- Dermot (9/5): Rural living 5 mins from main Belfast-Dublin road - Quality of accommodation; Plentiful cups, glasses ,plates etc N/a
- Alexander (8/5): Very good -
- Niki (10/5): Fantastic accommodation, perfect for family! - Absolutely loved our stay at Oatlands! The property certainly exceeded our expectations. Immaculately kept, modern, fully equipped (kitchen utensils, dining ware, washing machine, etc) and very comfortable. The host (Stewart) was easily available and communication/messaging with him was quick. We appreciated the welcome basket of eggs, milk, orange juice and bread, as well as the many booklets/brochures left detailing sites and activities in the area. Location wise, Oatlands was perfect for getting to Belfast and nearby town of Hillsborough, in no time. There are also many shops, only about 5-10 min up the road, to stock up on essentials (Sainsbury's, M&S, etc). We loved the quiet secludedness of this accommodation, yet quick access to town/city. Also loved all the furry "friends" (kittens and pups) who greeted us near the grounds every day! We would definitely recommend Oatlands to anyone passing through Belfast and its surrounding areas. We hope to visit again in the near future! Nothing, our stay was great and we were sad to leave!
- Lesley (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed in cottage 1. It was immaculately clean, amazingly comfortable and the perfect little staycation for me and my family.
- Peta (9/5): Superb -

- William (8/5): Very good -
- Terri (8/5): Very good - Rooms were very big, clean amazing All was great
- Keith (9/5): Superb - perfect for a family, exceedingly quiet (farm) location. Bright. clean, great open-plan layout Not a criticism of the hosts, but beware the basics like tea bags, coffee, washing up liquid and dish cloths/sponges are not provided....bring you own or head to nearest supermarket (~3miles away).
- Anthony (10/5): brilliant - everything nothing
- Aisling (9/5): Superb - lovely place lovely house peaceful comfortable very warm
- Karen (10/5): Perfect - Perfect location
Lovely and friendly
House had everything we needed
- Kelly (8/5): A nice quiet, comfy accommodation - Comfy beds and high quality bedroom furniture, shower and bathrooms modern fixtures and great shower nice and hot and welcome refreshments were great 👍 Having no access to a secure garden area with children it was difficult to keep the kids entertained in the house and to stop the toddler climbing the furniture!
- Porter (9/5): A well-kept, comfortable and roomy place to stay - The accommodation was lovely; a large open-plan living and kitchen area with modern appliances and plenty of cutlery and crockery, comfortable sofas and large dining table. Upstairs both bedrooms had very comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms which were well-kept (there was also a downstairs toilet), and blackout blinds. The host was very helpful, answered all my questions very quickly, and both check-in and check-out were very straightforward.
- François (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was like the description, really nice!
- Genny79 (4/5): Disappointing -
- Patricia (10/5): Fabulous - Lovely place and easy to get to
- Adelaide (9/5): Superb - Great location for us visiting family, with Hillsborough and Lisburn not far away either. The house is spacious, warm and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped and the hamper of provisions a lovely touch. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
- Rachel (9/5): Perfect for a 5 day break @ Christmas - thank you very much! - Very clean throughout & large spacious bedrooms, each with sturdy and classy furniture (large wardrobes and chest of drawers) in very good condition. Each bedroom had a double bed & a single bed, clean fresh sheets and towels, and their own fully equipped en-suite. The showers were powerful & hot, & the house was constantly warm and cosy. There was an additional toilet downstairs & separate hall to leave shoes. Sumptuous carpets / underlay - sounds a minor thing, but lovely to walk on in socks! The large decorated Christmas tree in the dining area was a very nice touch & appreciated for the kids & making the cottage have a festive atmosphere. There was ample parking, quiet at night and free wi-fi. Stewart was helpful & informative. The cottage was very close to Hillsborough & the Sprucefield retail park, & only 25 mins drive to the Stena ferry in Belfast, so we could get the early ferry without a problem. Very pleased we chose this property, excellent value for money & I would happily stay here again with my family, all of whom loved it as well! The plastic coverings on the dining room chairs could have been in slightly better condition (the plastic coverings were flaking off). It would have been nice if there was anywhere to walk straight out of the door in the countryside with footpaths - as we have small kids we didn’t want to risk walking directly on the roads. That’s not the cottage’s fault but it’s just something to be aware of if you like walking / have small children. However, as stated earlier it is only a couple of miles from Hillsborough, in particular Royal Hillsborough Forest Park which is beautiful & an absolute must for visitors! More information about closer, more local walks would be good. From a parental viewpoint, if they were able to convert the side area outside the house into an enclosed garden that would be beneficial for the kids to play / be outside, or if we were staying during the summer. As we were there for Christmas in the dead of winter this wasn’t an issue but it could increase the value of the rental.
- Evans (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alison (9/5): Great for a relaxing break - Oatlands was very easy to find and a great base for touring. Our cottage was well equipped and spotlessly clean plus we had the added bonus of a welcome pack. We also loved the spacious bedrooms with really comfortable beds and the luxury of each having an en suite bathroom! Nothing
- Eugene (10/5): Excellent property, good location for our visit. Would highly recommend. 10/10 - Nothing to dislike
- Mesh (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We had a lovely stay. The property is very nice and well equipped. The only thing that irked us a little was that it was advertised online that there was a game console but when we arrived the controllers were missing. The owner informed us that they were probably stolen by previous visitors. It's a shame as our 4 year old would have really enjoyed it.
- Niamh (10/5): So clean and comfortable in a great location - This is our third time to stay at Oatlands Cottages and it won't be our last. The houses are so clean and comfortable with everything to make the stay enjoyable. There is also so much to see and do in the area. I especially love how quiet it is at night. I would have no hesitation in recommending these cottages. We will definitely return
- Niamh (10/5): Great accommodation and very nice Host - Another great weekend in Oatlands. The house is so clean and has everything you could possibly need for a short break. We plan on staying longer than two nights next time as there's so much to do in the area. We visited Carnfunnock Park and Kilbroney Park and both were excellent for kids. We also visited the outlets in Banbridge (20 mins away) and kids got to go to the cinema while I shopped. The welcome pack was also great and much appreciated. We'll definitely be back soon. Thanks so much
- p (10/5): excellent in every way, no complaints at all - excellent location in countryside but with easy access to A1 & M1, 25mins to belfast, 10mins to Hillsborough..
very clean and spacious
excellent host
excellent facilities
- Verified traveler (10/5): A country cottage discovery - Perfect! - So often you hire a holiday cottage or flat and it's very basic... THIS IS NOT!!!
The on-line photo's do not do it justice. Everything is the very best quality... Furniture, fixtures and fittings are all top notch... Fabulous beds - really was a great find.
It might be a bit off the beaten track... but it was perfect for us working in Lisburn. There were just two of us but our cottage was perfect for 4 people sharing... or 6 if some of you don't mind sharing the larger beds... they are LARGE!!! Not forgetting that the rate was half that of any hotel in Belfast... that's sleeps 6 for less than one hotel room.... a no brainer!!!
Perfect for families... HUGE kitchen, 3 toilets, 2 bathrooms... all this and the gentle sounds of the bovine community outside... really was a great find... and we will be back!!!
